For the first time as a host combination, Ben, Dan, and Cameron sit down to discuss the most controversial topics in personal finance. We begin with identity and how it informs decision-making. Then, we revisit the renting versus buying debate, why this remains a highly controversial topic, the ins and outs of income investing, and understating the fervor of dividend investing. We also unpack FIRE as a branch of self-help; how it informs happiness; and how personality influences one's approach to the FIRE principle. To end, we closely examine Bill Bengen's 4% rule, and the Aftershow encourages us to maintain high podcasting standards while revealing what you can look forward to in our latest Rational Reminder t-shirt release. Circle of Parks Podcast: Talking all things Walt Disney World
The countdown is on—just four days until our family's epic Walt Disney World adventure begins! After months of anticipation, we're pulling back the curtain on our meticulously crafted vacation strategy that balances maximum fun with minimal stress. Our journey starts with a strategic overnight in Atlanta before heading to Blizzard Beach on arrival day. We're excited to experience both Disney water parks across different trips, having conquered Typhoon Lagoon last year. This time, we're staying at Coronado Springs' Grand Destino Tower, where we'll celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary at Three Bridges Bar & Grill overlooking the resort's beautiful lake. One major change this trip? We're abandoning our traditional rope-drop routine! After years of early morning park rushes, we're embracing a more relaxed approach with Disney's new multi-pass system. At over $700 for our family, it's a significant investment we'll be evaluating throughout our stay. Is the convenience worth the premium price? We'll be reporting back! Each park day has been thoughtfully planned: Epcot with extended World Showcase exploration (where our boys have finally developed an appreciation for international experiences), Hollywood Studios with substantial time in Galaxy's Edge and catching the new Little Mermaid show, Animal Kingdom's safari adventures, and a perfectly-paced Magic Kingdom finale. We've incorporated strategic rest days, including pool time and a split day where half of us will venture to Universal while the others enjoy a character breakfast and resort exploration. The Disney Dining Plan adds another dimension to our experience. Is it truly the value proposition Disney promises? We'll be conducting live dining reviews throughout our trip at spots like Connections Eatery, La Cantina de San Angel, and Flame Tree Barbecue to find out! After our park adventures, we're capping the vacation with four blissful days at Disney's Vero Beach Resort—the perfect blend of Disney magic and coastal relaxation.Whether you're planning your own Disney getaway or simply enjoy vicarious vacation thrills, join us as we navigate the parks with insider knowledge gained from multiple trips. We're excited to share what works, what doesn't, and how our Disney strategy continues to evolve! Please Check Out Our Links Below: Our Sponsor:www.travelplannererica.com Email Us:circleofparks@gmail.com Our Website:www.circleofparks.com Facebook:www.facebook.com/circleofparks Instagram:www.instagram.com/circleofparks X:www.x.com/circleofparks Ad Music:Carefree Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Music promoted on https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/Send us a textSupport the show
We're headed to Disney's Hollywood Studios for the next round of our “Eat It or Beat It” series—breaking down the most popular snacks in the park to determine which ones are worth the splurge and which you might want to skip. From galaxy-famous bites in Galaxy's Edge to theme park classics with a twist, we evaluate each snack based on taste, value, portion size, and overall experience. We dive into fan-favorite items like the Ronto Morning Wrap, Blue & Green Milk, and the cheesy goodness of the Umbaran Cheese Roll—plus sweet treats like the Wookiee Cookie, Lunch Box Tart, and Jack-Jack's Num Num Cookie. You'll even hear our thoughts on savory staples like Totchos, the Bavarian Pretzel at BaseLine, and the Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzel near the iconic Chinese Theatre.Whether you're team “Eat It” or “Beat It,” this episode is packed with honest takes and helpful snack strategies to make the most of your next visit to Hollywood Studios.Missed the first parts of the series? What if you could relive the magic of all four Walt Disney World parks—without a park ticket, without standing in line, and yes, without leaving your dinner table? This week, Stephen is pitching a dazzling new experience that's part dinner show, part skating spectacular, and all Disney magic. Think parade floats gliding across ice, a cameo from the Disco Yeti, and a nighttime finale that just might rival Happily Ever After. From Magic Kingdom to Animal Kingdom, this idea fuses nostalgia, camp, and smart logistics into something that could genuinely expand the Walt Disney World experience.Marissa's in the co-host seat this week as the duo unpacks the inspiration behind the concept, the challenges of expanding Blizzard Beach, and the deliciously over-the-top moments that just had to be included. Is it campy? Absolutely. Is it brilliant? You tell us.Send us a textSupport the showDon't forget to check us out on Instagram and our website!

Kevin Csolak shares his journey from growing up in his mom's New Jersey dance studio to starring as Tulsa in the Broadway revival of Gypsy. He opens up about performing alongside Audra McDonald and Danny Burstein, the artistic influence of the live orchestra, and how the cast is breathing new life into a classic. Kevin also reflects on what it means to approach each show with intention and curiosity—even months into the run. He takes us behind the scenes of his whirlwind audition for Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, including the surreal moment of dancing in front of the director himself. Plus, he recalls the unexpected overlap between his commercial dance career and Broadway—like performing at the Super Bowl with Justin Timberlake just hours before starting Mean Girls rehearsals. Throughout, Kevin shares insight into how rejection can fuel reinvention, and why staying creatively sharp is non-negotiable. Kevin Csolak is a Broadway, TV, and film actor known for playing Tulsa in Gypsy, Diesel in West Side Story, and Aaron in Mean Girls. His screen work includes roles on Jessica Jones, Boardwalk Empire, Animal Kingdom, and the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room. Circle of Parks Podcast: Talking all things Walt Disney World
The landscape of Walt Disney World is shifting dramatically, with major transformations coming to every park. From Dinoland USA becoming a vibrant Central Americas-themed land featuring Encanto and Indiana Jones, to Tom Sawyer Island making way for a Cars attraction, these changes represent Disney's evolving approach to park experiences. We dive deep into what these transformations mean for the Disney experience, exploring the tension between nostalgic attractions and Disney's push toward more recognizable intellectual properties. The upcoming Villains Land behind Big Thunder Mountain promises thrilling new experiences without replacing existing attractions, while Hollywood Studios will soon feature a Monsters Inc land with an innovative suspended coaster based on the door conveyor system from the beloved film. These changes raise important questions: Is Disney losing some of its original magic by replacing unique Imagineering creations with movie tie-ins? Or is this evolution necessary to compete with Universal's Epic Universe and appeal to younger generations? We consider whether the Disney experience has improved or declined since 2019, discussing the loss of beloved perks like Magical Express and free FastPass while acknowledging the exciting new attractions on the horizon. We also share our upcoming plans to test the new Multi-Pass system during our next trip, estimating we'll spend around $500 extra for our family of four to access all premium ride options. Will the convenience justify the cost? Is the Free Dining package actually saving money when factoring in required add-ons like Park Hopper tickets? These practical considerations reflect the changing economics of a Disney vacation in today's landscape.Whether you're a Disney purist concerned about these changes or excited to experience the new attractions, this episode provides thoughtful perspective on what Walt Disney World's transformation means for different types of visitors. Send us a textThe unexpected announcement of a new Disney park in Abu Dhabi has completely reshuffled the conversation around Disney's expansion strategy. What started as a discussion about whether Walt Disney World needs a fifth gate to compete with Universal's Epic Universe quickly transformed into an analysis of Disney's global theme park portfolio and future plans. When weighing the potential benefits of a fifth Disney World park, several compelling points emerge. A brand-new park would provide the perfect canvas for fresh concepts and untapped intellectual properties that don't quite fit within the existing framework. It could showcase international Disney attractions that most American visitors never experience, while simultaneously helping to distribute the notoriously dense Magic Kingdom crowds. With Disney's vast land holdings in Florida, space certainly isn't an issue – they've already secured approval for a fifth major park in their long-term development plan. However, the drawbacks are significant. Current estimates suggest building a Disney park of Tokyo DisneySea's caliber would cost upwards of $17 billion – a staggering sum even for Disney. Meanwhile, all four existing Disney World parks desperately need updating, from the chronically outdated Tomorrowland to the half-day experience that Animal Kingdom often becomes for ride-focused visitors. Adding another park would also extend the typical Disney vacation to potentially 9-10 days, making the trip financially impossible for many families already stretching their budgets. The Abu Dhabi announcement represents an exciting compromise. This new international venture allows Disney to flex their creative muscles with cutting-edge technology and immersive environments without diverting resources from much-needed improvements at Walt Disney World. There's speculation this Middle Eastern park could feature the most impressive Tomorrowland ever designed, potentially rivaling Tokyo DisneySea as Disney's crown jewel. For Disney fans, the future looks bright whether they're planning to visit Florida or dreaming of international adventures. Rather than stretching themselves thin with a fifth Florida gate, Disney appears focused on maximizing the potential of their existing parks while simultaneously creating something truly revolutionary halfway around the world. What Disney innovation are you most excited to experience? Here's who we are and what is in store for you

We're back to answer an awesome variety of questions straight from our Facebook page and community group! From practical planning tips to some really fun hypotheticals, this episode is packed with listener-driven content that blends helpful advice with plenty of playful Disney banter. We kick things off by talking about how we personally keep the magic alive in the parks—even after countless visits—and which EPCOT festival stands out as our favorite and why. Jason asked where to find the best quick service and sit-down breakfasts, while Jennifer wanted to know if Lightning Lane is even necessary during the slower days in January. We also take on a fun round of favorites, sharing our go-to snacks and rides in both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, and even admit which Disney characters we crushed on as kids. Longtime listener Anthony asked how the podcast came to be, and what Jeremy does for his brother—something we've mentioned before but never really dug into. Then there's a great question about park hopping and how to make the most of a quick 3- or 4-day trip—perfect for anyone who can't take a full week off. Olivia sent in a deep Disney thought, wondering if all the plates and utensils in Beauty and the Beast were once people… and what happened to them after the curse was lifted? We also dive into nostalgia, talk about our experiences with cast members at Disney vs. Universal, share which rides we wish included PhotoPass, and even get to dream up a ride of our own. And of course, there's a fun magical twist: if each of us got three genie wishes—what would we wish for? With a mix of heart, humor, and helpful tips, this episode is a celebration of you—the Main Street Magic community—and the questions that keep the magic going.MEI-Travel – Expertise. Are you ready to maximize your Disney vacation and experience the most popular attractions with minimal wait times? We're diving deep into the strategic world of "rope dropping" at Walt Disney World - that magical practice of arriving before park opening to be among the first guests rushing to key attractions.Every minute counts when planning your Disney mornings, and we're sharing our battle-tested strategies for each park. At Magic Kingdom, Space Mountain emerges as our family's go-to choice while the crowds rush to Fantasyland. We'll explain why Tomorrowland's morning ambiance creates the perfect start to your day, along with alternatives like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train for families with different priorities.Hollywood Studios presents the toughest rope drop decisions with its concentration of blockbuster attractions. Should you prioritize Rise of the Resistance's immersive Star Wars experience or the classic thrills of Tower of Terror? We break down the pros and cons of each option, plus family-friendly alternatives in Toy Story Land. For Animal Kingdom enthusiasts, we reveal why Kilimanjaro Safaris might actually be a better rope drop choice than Flight of Passage for repeat visitors. The morning safari experience offers significantly more active animals and natural behaviors than you'll see later in the day - a complete game-changer for wildlife lovers. From Test Track at EPCOT to the strategic value of experiencing elaborate queues without the crushing crowds, these insider tips will transform how you approach your Disney mornings. We break down standout dishes like the sirloin Gruyère mac, musubi fried rice, and spicy shrimp papas locas, plus sweet and savory hits from Peppers Cali-Ente and Golden Dreams. After that, it's off to Lamplight Lounge for drinks, bites, and a much-needed break—including the fan-favorite 2319 mocktail and loaded potato skins. The evening shifts to lounge hopping with stops at Broken Spell and Trader Sam's, where we try tiki cocktails, pork gyoza, and poke bowls. We hop aboard the Disneyland Monorail back to Tomorrowland, soak up the nighttime magic with popcorn, Dapper Dans, and shopping, and then wrap up with a Blue Bayou dinner—complete with crab cakes, filet mignon, and a refreshing mint julep. When it comes to theme park entertainment, few stage shows rival the quality of The Festival of The Lion King at Disney's Animal Kingdom. What many guests may not know is how many of the show's complex theatrical elements came together to create the attraction. In this episode, Jake and Morgan explore the history and conception of the stage show, explain how “puppetronics” technology brings the animated characters to life, and celebrate the magic of this beloved Animal Kingdom experience.Follow along and join the Dis-cussion on social media @neverlandnavco
A Walt Disney World vacation is all about magic, memories and—let's not forget—a lot of walking. From early morning rope drop, to unpredictable weather and evenings filled with fireworks, packing smart can make a big difference. That's where a capsule wardrobe comes in: a capsule wardrobe is a thoughtful collection of versatile, mix-and-match pieces that let you travel light without sacrificing comfort or style. At 1923 Main Street, we design a collection of subtle Disney-inspired apparel for travelers who love the magic, but who want to keep things stylish without too much effort. Here's how to build the perfect capsule wardrobe for your next Disney vacation—whether it's a short hop of three days, or a full week's vacation. What is a Capsule Wardrobe—and Why is it Perfect for Disney Vacations?A capsule wardrobe is a small, intentional collection of clothing that can be mixed and matched in multiple ways. The goal of a capsule wardrobe is to have fewer items, but be able to create more outfits. A capsule wardrobe is all about efficiency and planning for your destination. For Disney vacations, this approach is especially helpful because it has several benefits:Less and Lighter luggage: Save your luggage space for Disney souvenirs and skip the checked baggage fees.Less Outfit Stress: Spend your time choosing your next ride or snack and not stressing over which outfit to wear.Know that You're Ready for anything: From rain to heat to chilly indoor dining, your smart layers strategy will have you covered. The Core Items for a Disney Capsule Wardrobe: Three to Five Essential PiecesStart with a few versatile basics that can be worn in multiple combinations:Two to three graphic tees – Soft, lightweight and breathable tees with a touch of personality are a perfect choice. Our castle shadow t-shirt This is My Story is a popular tee for this reason: it pairs well with anything.A neutral tank or tee – add versatility with a neutral colored lightweight tank or t-shirt that will go with any outfit and is great for layering. One pair of comfortable shorts – Think neutral tones like khaki or soft denim. One pair of casual pants, leggings or joggers – Ideal for cooler nights or travel days. A layering piece – A hoodie or crewneck sweatshirt with a subtle Disney touch is a must-have.One versatile dress or romper (optional) – Easy to dress up or down for a nice dinner or character dining. How to Choose the Right Graphic Tees and LayersYour Disney wardrobe doesn't have to scream characters or anything else. Subtle, well-designed graphic tees (our speciality at 1923 Main Street) make your outfit park-appropriate and stylish beyond the castle gates. When choosing tees and sweatshirts:Go for soft neutrals: Grey, navy and lighter soft colors mix easily.Think theme: Match your tee to your park day. Planning to explore Animal Kingdom? Try our Animal Kingdom Coffee Co. hoodie as an outer layer.Layer intentionally: Florida mornings can be cool at many times of the year and indoor rides and Disney buses are almost always chilly. Bring a sweatshirt or hoodie that you can wear every day if needed.Sample Packing Lists for Any Disney World VacationHere's how to build your capsule wardrobe depending on the length of your trip:Three-Day Getaway Disney Weekend or Short Hop2 graphic tees1 pair of shorts1 pair of joggers/casual pants/leggings1 layering piece1 pair of sneakersSwimsuitMix Example: Day 1: Tee 1 + shorts Day 2: Tee 2 + joggers/casual pants/leggings Day 3: Tee 1 + joggers + sweatshirtFive-Day Disney Vacation3 graphic tees1 pair of shorts1 pair of joggers/casual pants/leggings1 layering piece1 casual dress or skirt1 pair of sneakers, 1 pair of sandalsSwimsuitMix Example: Rotate tees with different bottoms and layer as needed. Use the dress for a character meal or night out at Disney Springs.Seven-Day Weeklong Disney Vacation4 graphic tees2 bottoms (shorts + joggers/casual pants/leggings or skirt)1 layering piece1 casual dress2 pairs of shoes (sneakers + sandals or slip-ons)Swimsuit (or two)Add a small laundry pack for in-room washing, or better still, use your resort laundry (they all have them) to refresh your clothing mid-week.Final Tips for a Magical (and Minimal) SuitcaseStick to a color palette so everything coordinates well.Pack for layering, not bulk.Wear your bulkiest items on the plane to save space.Roll your clothes instead of folding—you'll get more space and fewer wrinkles. With a well-planned Disney vacation capsule wardrobe, you'll spend less time thinking about what to wear and more time soaking up the magic.Roam Freely. Join Ellen & special guest, evolutionary biologist and herpetologist Dr. Mark D. Scherz, for a look through the magnifying glass at miniaturized animals. Our guest studies species who have shrunk down to incredibly small sizes, like frogs and chameleons who could gather on the tip of your finger, and he has some fascinating insights into why and how animals get so darn itty bitty and what could be stopping them from getting any itty bittier. We discuss silliness in scientific names, assuming a spherical frog in a vacuum, chameleons called B. nana, whether jawbones spark joy, how many brain cells you really even need anyway, and so much more.Links:Learn more about Mark and his work on his website: http://www.markscherz.com/Check out Mark's podcast, SquaMates: http://squamatespod.com/Follow Mark on Tumblr: https://markscherz.tumblr.com/Follow Mark on BlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/markscherz.bsky.socialFor more information about us & our podcast, head over to our website!Follow Just the Zoo of Us on BlueSky, Facebook, Instagram & Discord!Follow Ellen on BlueSky!

We're kicking off our multi-day Disneyland trip report with everything that went down on Day 1—from coast-to-coast travel logistics to indulging in incredible food and drink around Downtown Disney. We start with trip planning details, including why we chose this time of year, how far in advance we booked, total costs, and what it took to get from Florida to Anaheim. We break down our travel day experience, our choice of transportation, and what it's like navigating the journey from the airport to the magic.Next, we dive into our stay at the charming and historic Candy Cane Inn, including fun facts (like how it was almost named the “Cinderella Inn” until Walt stepped in), amenities, and why it might be the best off-property value near Disneyland. Then we explore Downtown Disney, grabbing a bite at Naples Ristorante e Bar (spoiler: the Prosciutto e Melone pizza and mocktails are winners), shopping at World of Disney, and taking in the luxurious ambiance of Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. Our evening wraps up with refreshing drinks—including an impressive non-alcoholic lineup—at Ballast Point Brewing Co., a flavorful dinner at the newly reimagined Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio, and a sweet stop at Beignets Expressed.MEI-Travel – Expertise. News: Star Wars Celebration Japan just wrapped up and there were some new details about changes coming to Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Starting on May 22, 2026, guests will have more control over their experience piloting the Millennium Falcon. Crews will be in charge of the destination that they travel to. New locations like Bespin, the wreckage of the second Death Star around Endor, or Coruscant will be options. The engineers will also be able to communicate with Grogu. These additions will coincide with the theatrical release of The Mandalorian and Grogu. – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/the-mandalorian-grogu-and-new-crew-controls-coming-to-smugglers-run/ https://blogmickey.com/2025/04/new-locations-smugglers-run-mandalorian-update-2026/ April is Earth Month, and this year Disneyland is doing something unique. Guests are being encouraged to participate in the Food Scraps program. The program takes uneaten food and turns it into nutrient-rich feed for farm animals. Galactic Grill, Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, Cafe Daisy, Pym Test Kitchen, Flo's V8 Cafe, and Cozy Cone Motel are participating. Guests are given a green food scraps container to place leftover food into, which can then be emptied into a green food-only receptacle. – https://www.micechat.com/413577-disneyland-news-star-wars-updates-70th-anniversary-offers-guest-problems/ An unexpected, but fun activity appeared in Toon Town this week. Signs for a missing churro have been posted around the land, with a phone number to call. When called, Donald Duck picks up and talks about his missing churro. – https://www.micechat.com/413577-disneyland-news-star-wars-updates-70th-anniversary-offers-guest-problems/ Fans of the Disneyland Starbucks tumblers have a new variation. This tumbler comes with one of two mystery pins. The tumbler itself is brightly colored with graphics depicting Disneyland attractions like the Tiki Room, it's a small world, Haunted Mansion, and more! – https://www.micechat.com/413577-disneyland-news-star-wars-updates-70th-anniversary-offers-guest-problems/ https://disneypinsblog.com/starbucks-tumbler-with-mystery-pin-pouch-at-disney-parks/?srsltid=AfmBOopOzc7lOklM6rS3y2mYUX5rGfb_HfVZ_C2MA-l8dLMuGyn_ghAh With the recent uncertainty from international travelers from outside the United States, Disney has created some hotel and theme park ticket deals. Currently, there is a SoCal Resident Ticket offer through May 15th, and a Disneyland Anniversary 4-day Ticket valid from May 16th through August 14th from $100 per day. – https://www.micechat.com/413577-disneyland-news-star-wars-updates-70th-anniversary-offers-guest-problems/ The fires at the beginning of the year in the Southern California area were tragic, and impacted so many. Disney committed $15 million to the effort back in January. Disney has added “Disney Field Days” where they go and bring carnivals with characters, games, activities, and more to locations impacted. Recently, two schools in Brentwood, Disney cast members and VoluntEARS put on these events – to over 900 students. Two people who lost special items in the fires got a version of them back. One eight-year-old lost her giant stuffed Tigger in the fire, Disney replaced it with one that had traveled around Disney's Animal Kingdom. A teacher, who lost her Disney-themed classroom in the fire, including her collection of mouse ears, was presented with over 50 ears from Disney Parks, stores, and VoluntEARS. – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/la-fire-relief-efforts-how-disney-helps-the-communities-we-call-home/ SnackChat: New Sweets – https://www.instagram.com/p/DIwawmMx3iH/?img_index=7 Discussion Topic: Michael Holland host of From Out of the Past Podcast https://www.instagram.com/fromoutofthepastpodcast/ https://linktr.ee/hollandimaginarium https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK7GRiUhhB8 https://www.youtube.com/@AlextheHistorian
