Ask Me How I Know: Multifamily Investor Stories of Struggle to Success
Two episodes back from sabbatical, Julie catches herself feeling the old pull toward performance, the pressure to hit every beat "correctly," and decides to name it out loud instead of hiding it. That honesty becomes the doorway into this episode's real subject: a full walkthrough of the Identity-Level Recalibration pathway, the five stages that carry you from awareness to renewed momentum, told through Julie's own real-time experience and a poem her daughter brought home from school. What's really behind the question "what's next?"For a lot of high-capacity humans, "what's next?" isn't really about the future, it's a sign you've quietly crossed a finish line and gotten bored. Julie hears this question constantly from the high achievers she works with, and she's come to see it less as ambition and more as antsiness: an old high-performance pattern asking to stay in motion, even before you know where you're headed. If I'm not challenging myself, what happens to the energy I bring to life?Nothing happens to it. It's still yours, it's just been tied to proving and performing for so long that you haven't felt what it's like to spend it on anything else. Julie names this as one of the questions she hears most often from clients, and points to what's underneath it: a belief that your value depends on always directing your energy toward the next challenge, which is exactly the kind of belief that recognition brings into view so it can be released. What are the five stages of the Identity-Level Recalibration pathway?Identity-Level Recalibration moves in five stages that feed into each other in a circle, not a straight line: Recognition, Release, Reclamation, Reinforcement, and Renewed Momentum.Recognition is awareness, plain and simple. Julie calls it 80% of the whole process, because you cannot heal what you cannot see. You'll know it's happening when small things start bothering you more than they should, or when you catch yourself asking, "What's wrong with me?"Release is the understanding that what you've been carrying longer than necessary can be set down, with honor, not shame. Letting go of a role isn't abandonment, it's alignment. Julie walks through her own release of the belief that it isn't safe to rest, rooted in childhood programming she's only fully recognized in the past couple of years.Reclamation is when clarity returns, not as something new, but as recognition of what was always true. It isn't a glow up or becoming somebody. It's stopping the performance of somebody you already stopped being. Julie reads Paul Laurence Dunbar's poem "We Wear the Mask" here, brought home from her daughter's English class, as a picture of the mask reclamation lets you finally set down.Reinforcement is staying in the middle long enough for the work to hold, especially hard for high performers who love new beginnings and struggle with the "baking" phase in between. Julie's anchor question for the middle: "What's on the other side?" She also connects this stage to the emotional cycle of change from Crucial Conversations, informed optimism, the trough of despair, and the choice to keep going until you reach informed optimism on the other side.Renewed Momentum is what's waiting on the other side of that middle: a drive that no longer needs an audience, doesn't need to perform to prove worth, and doesn't require earning belonging or status.Inside this episodeWhy Julie is breaking her own "rules" for how a podcast episode is supposed to open, and what she calls The House of RealThe difference between having information (which you can get from Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini) and having human connection, which is why you're hereHow childhood programming around productivity shows up as "the butt sensor," the inability to sit down and relaxWhy reinforcement is the hardest stage for people who thrive on the excitement of starting something newWhat kept Julie committed through 366 consecutive days of the daily podcastA first look at which Season 5 topics listeners are voting for, with faith and spirituality surprising Julie by rising to the topAn invitation into the Recalibration Collective, Julie's new community for ongoing support and connectionVote on Season 5 topicsSeason 5 is being shaped by you. How do you turn the shit situation of vulvar cancer into a celebration of body awareness and reclamation? You bring people together to talk, laugh, create, learn, raise awareness, raise money... and say the word vulva a whole lot more. And you call it Viva La Vulva. In this special episode of TURNED ON, I take you behind the scenes at the first Viva La Vulva event, created by Vulva Sisters Australia, held on Saturday 12 September during Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month and supporting Rare Cancers Australia. This is my first foray into audio journalism. I roved and recorded the event as it unfolded, capturing the voices, conversations, performances, creativity, laughter and unexpected moments that made the day what it was.And I wasn't only there as your roving reporter. I was also one of the speakers. So rather than tell you everything that happened, I'm inviting you into the room. You'll meet some of the people behind Viva La Vulva, hear from those who came along, experience part of a spoken-word performance from Fleassy Malay, and discover what happens when we get a whole lot more comfortable saying the word vulva.Expect important conversations, unexpected revelations, feminist rage, vulva art, statement earrings, glitter, laughter and a whole lot of love. The audio isn't always polished. There were around 100 people talking, laughing, creating and moving around the room, and sometimes you'll hear all of that happening around us.Consider yourself in the room with me.I've created a Viva La Vulva Podcast Gifts & Resources page where you can discover more about the resources mentioned in the episode and keep exploring your own body literacy.I've also left two gifts waiting for you there:Come home to your body with Homeland, my free seven-day self-guided mini experience. And if you're new to Wonder Women Club, come and experience the sisterhood for three months as my guest. Join our online community and gatherings, with opportunities to come together in person through extraordinary experiences in Melbourne and beyond. This special Wonder Women Club invitation is available to new members until 31 October 2026.Keep exploring + two gifts from me:pennyvandenrsluys.com/vivalavulva-podcastA huge thank you to Marlo Woods and Jane Hancox, co-founders of Vulva Sisters Australia, for inviting me to be part of Viva La Vulva, and to everyone who agreed to be recorded and share a little piece of their day with me, and now with you.

Send us Fan MailYou've been trying to move forward. Applying, planning, building, showing up. And still something feels like it's dragging. One foot in the new world, one foot in the old. Your mind wants to go, but your body won't follow. This episode names what that heaviness actually is. It is not stuckness. It is grief. For a version of yourself you invested everything into, a version the world never gave you permission to mourn.Dr. Amen Kaur explains why we carry unprocessed experiences like suitcases full of apples we never learned to eat, why the costume you put on as a child to earn love became so convincing that even you forgot it was a costume, and why your nervous system is still running an alarm that was installed when you were seven in a house you no longer live in.Drawing on William Worden's four tasks of mourning, Carl Rogers' theory of incongruence, Dr. Nadine Burke Harris's research on adverse childhood experiences and toxic stress, and Albert Bandura's self-efficacy research, this episode shows why grief and forward movement are not opposites, why judgment is the lock that closes the doors to your real self, and why love, compassion, and understanding are the key that opens them again.Includes a client story of a woman who stopped performing, reconnected to what she actually loved, and landed a six-figure role doing it.Free masterclass: amenkaur.com/masterclassIn this episode:Why moving forward feels so heavy when you haven't grieved the old identityThe apple metaphor: how unprocessed experiences become suitcases we carry for yearsWilliam Worden's four tasks of mourning and why grief is an active process, not a passive oneCarl Rogers and incongruence: the gap between who you truly are and who you learned to beDr. Nadine Burke Harris: how childhood stress physically changes the brain and nervous systemThe alarm system metaphor: why your body keeps reacting to a house you no longer live inWhy judgment closes doors and love opens themAlbert Bandura's self-efficacy research: why self-trust is trained, not innateDr. Amen Kaur's own story of grieving the pivot from her previous podcastA client story: from work she didn't love to a six-figure role in what she didOne practice for this week: when the heaviness arrives, ask what you need to grieveReferFree Masterclass: The Human Intelligence FrameworkA walkthrough of the five stage method Dr Amen Kaur uses with high achieving women who have lost themselves inside a career, role or identity that no longer fits.Watch it free at amenkaur.com/masterclassAbout Dr Amen KaurStarting Over, Being You with Dr. Amen Kaur is the podcast for high-achieving women who have been quietly losing themselves inside the life they built. Send us a Text Message about the podcastA flashing light in your rearview mirror can change your life, even when you've done nothing wrong. Grantley Martelly sits down with Dakarai Larriett, an Alabama entrepreneur and public servant, to unpack a 2024 Michigan State Police traffic stop that Dakarai says spiraled into humiliation, fear, and a wrongful DUI arrest despite a negative alcohol test. What starts as a routine roadside interaction becomes a case study in racial profiling, discretionary policing, and how quickly your rights can feel conditional on an officer's assumptions. We dig into the aftermath most people never see: the long FOIA fight for body camera footage, the frustration of partial releases and redactions, and the reality that “charges dropped” does not always mean “record erased.” Dakari explains why qualified immunity can block accountability, how the incident still surfaces in background systems, and why transparency in evidence handling matters for public trust and for ethical law enforcement.Dakarai shares the thinking behind a proposed Motorist Bill of Rights, including federal standards for traffic stops and real-time video uploads to a neutral third-party cloud so defense teams can access evidence without months of delay. He also connects generational trauma to the present, discusses his memoir Don't Flush, and explains how this experience helped push him into an Alabama US Senate campaign focused on criminal justice reform, economic opportunity, education, and community-based policing. Send us a text letting us know your thoughts on today's episodeWhen we talk about DIY podcasting, the conversation usually gets stuck on money. But the real cost? It often has nothing to do with your bank account. In this episode of Podcasting for Moms, we're digging into the hidden costs of doing it all yourself—the time, energy, momentum, and mental load that quietly pile up behind the scenes. If you've ever felt like your podcast is something you're constantly “catching up on,” or like it's asking more from you than you can realistically give in this season of motherhood and business, this episode is for you. We're reframing what support really means and asking an honest question: is DIY podcasting still serving you or is it slowly costing you more than you realize? In this episode, we cover:The real time cost of DIY podcasting (and why it's never just “a few extra hours”)How podcasting creates invisible mental and emotional laborWhy lost momentum is one of the most expensive costs of allThe hidden business impact of an unsupported podcastA gentle reframe to help you evaluate whether this season still makes senseThis episode isn't about pushing you to outsource—it's about helping you protect your energy, your time, and your ability to keep showing up consistently. In the next episode, I'll walk you through exactly how I support clients one-on-one with podcast strategy and production so you can decide what kind of support feels right for you in this season.

In this emergency update of With Flying Colors, Mark breaks down a newly proposed NCUA rule that could meaningfully reduce barriers to serving on a federal credit union board. The proposal would allow federal credit unions to reimburse or directly pay reasonable dependent care costs for volunteer officials when those costs are incurred while attending board meetings or performing official duties — including, potentially, training and conferences. This is a narrow but important change that reflects rising childcare and eldercare costs, declining volunteerism, and the increasing demands placed on credit union boards.Mark also shares brief updates on the Central Liquidity Facility (CLF), NCUA's regulatory simplification efforts, and what's coming next on the podcast following recent discussions at a credit union conference cruise.

Send us a Text Message about the podcastA five-day trek, a river that swallows missteps, and a video call that saves a mother and baby—this is what frontline HIV care looks like in Papua, Indonesia. We sit down with Dr. Agnela “Iggy” Chingwaro, an infectious disease physician from Zimbabwe, whose work braids medical expertise with faith, cultural humility, and stubborn hope. Her story exposes the hard truths behind late testing, the fear of national registration, and the maze of more than 300 local languages that shape how people understand illness, trust, and treatment. We unpack the crucial difference between HIV and AIDS, why “undetectable” means suppressed rather than cured, and how that nuance can make or break adherence. Dr. Iggy contrasts Africa's evolving HIV response with Papua's current challenges, where stigma keeps many away until opportunistic infections like TB and meningitis take hold. She details how government-supplied antiretrovirals, TB, and leprosy drugs still need community bridges—portable diagnostics, trained local educators, and clinics willing to meet people where they are. You'll hear how her team trains traditional midwives to screen pregnant women, uses telemedicine to coach emergency care, and partners with pilots and pastors to reach mountainside villages. The conversation turns deeply human: the adoption of a child orphaned by AIDS, the refusal of ambulance drivers to transport patients due to fear, and the practical ways to dismantle myths about transmission. We also shine a light on the “forgotten generation”—youth facing rising HIV rates alongside alcohol and drug abuse—and the vision for a safe, youth-friendly center that offers counseling, education, and dignity. This is global health at eye level: compassionate, persistent, and built on trust. If this moved you, help us grow the impact: subscribe, leave a rating, and share with a friend. Ever talked to an AI that flirts with you?In this episode of If This Doesn't Work…, we go completely off the rails. We start by reading hilarious (and brutal) comments from our viral 607 Unc episode, dive into a deep rant about pet ownership, trauma, and parenting styles… and then end up having a wild, slightly disturbing conversation with Elon Musk's Grok AI avatar. The AI unexpectedly calls us “babe,” starts whispering, and even tells us stories—until we try to push its limits with ridiculous prompts. It's funny, weird, and kind of terrifying for the future.

https://csapat.partizanmedia.hu/letters/nyilatkozzanak-a-miniszterek?source=podcast Üzenj a minisztereknek!

My guest today has me buzzing with anticipation. I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Aura McKay - the visionary behind Business of Creativity, an award-winning photographer, and a dynamic business coach. Aura brings a unique blend of passion and expertise to the table. In this episode, she takes us on a journey, sharing anecdotes from her unconventional upbringing in the 60s and the impactful lessons from her creative parents - her remarkable story seamlessly weaves together creativity, relationships, and business brilliance. Puzzles may seem like fairly pedestrian pastimes — fun ways to while away a rainy afternoon. And while they certainly do make for satisfying diversions, my guest would say they're also more than that, and can teach us plenty about life as well. His name is A.J. Jacobs, and he's the author of The Puzzler: One Man's Quest to Solve the Most Baffling Puzzles Ever, from Crosswords to Jigsaws to the Meaning of Life. Today on the show, A.J. explains what makes a puzzle a puzzle, and why we're drawn to them and enjoy them so much. We then discuss the charm of certain puzzles, from crosswords and Rubik's Cubes, to jigsaws and mazes. Along the way, we discuss some of the strategies behind solving these puzzles, and how these strategies can help you become an all-around better thinker and decision maker, and better at navigating the puzzling dilemmas of life itself.Resources Related to the PodcastA.J.'s previous appearance on the podcast — Episode #53: Experimenting With Your LifeMaki Kaji — the father of SudokuAoM Article: The Best Riddles for KidsA.J.'s wife's scavenger hunt company, Watson AdventuresWordplayThe Great Vermont Corn MazeTanya Khovanova's Math BlogKryptos — art sculpture with encrypted code on the grounds of the CIAApopheniaSunday Firesides: Take It Bird by BirdConnect With A.J.
