Ever seen two inspectors fight? You will here... well, nicely. In fact, this might be the most gentlemanly fight ever. With Brad Lowery moderating, Matt Brading, and Beau Brown duke it out discussing the intersection of artificial intelligence and home inspection. They explore the benefits and challenges of integrating AI into the inspection process, emphasizing the importance of human expertise and experience. The discussion also touches on the significance of builder conferences and the evolving landscape of the construction industry. In this conversation, the speakers discuss the implications of AI and technology in the home inspection industry. They explore the potential benefits and limitations of AI as a tool, emphasizing that it should not be seen as a replacement for human inspectors. The discussion also touches on the importance of proper marketing and understanding the legal ramifications of using technology in inspections. Simply put, tools are useful so long as they're used properly. THE TLDR: Home inspectors and builders are intertwined in their work. AI can enhance knowledge about building products. AI should augment, not replace, human inspectors. Homeowners need to understand the limitations of AI. Experience in inspections is irreplaceable by AI. New inspectors may misuse AI without proper knowledge. Builder conferences provide valuable networking opportunities. AI can streamline the inspection process. The future of home inspections will involve both AI and human expertise. Proper marketing is essential for technology implementation. Lawsuits will impact the adoption of AI in inspections. AI can streamline tedious tasks but has limitations. Networking at industry events is valuable for growth. Understanding code is crucial for builders and inspectors. AI can enhance efficiency but cannot replace human intuition. The building industry is evolving with new technologies. Staying forward-thinking is important for professionals. Beta testing new tools can provide valuable insights.

Our guest today is amazing. Hands down one of my favorite producers out right now. His sound is jazzy, laid back. It is like what I would imagine Digable Planets sounding like in 2024. He has recently put out an incredible piece of art called 74: Out of Time featuring a host of emcees, Awon, ill Camille, vic Spencer, pink siifu, billy woods, tha God Fahim, Fly Anakin, Cooley High and many more. It might just be my favorite jazzy production since the era of Disable Planets and De LA Soul and the Native Tongues. It is a remarkable project that we are going to jump into right now with our guest, the one and only, Ol' Burger Beats! https://olburgerbeats.bandcamp.com/album/74-out-of-time The Boom Bap Chat is a podcast that explores Hip-Hop music and the people who create it. iomos marad, Profound, MC Till, and sometimes Beau Brown and Joe November discuss lyrics, production, classic albums, building community, and much more with a mix of legendary and up and coming artists. The Boom Bap Chat welcomes a new Hip-Hop titan to the show. His output recently has been nothing short of excellent. He is able to present deep, layered content in straightforward way. His music is both soulful and gritty and cuts through the saturation of music content these days. His music sticks out from most music simply because it is better than most music. During the interview Jamil shares about making amends with his father before he passed, having a near death experience being shot and mugged in front of his home, and rifts on legendary Hip-Hop albums. His album, The God Honest Truth is a remarkable project. Hip-Hop is everywhere now, but that was not the case when Fred Lynch started a group that would become PID (Preachers in Disguise). He took Hip-Hop into a place where it was often not welcomed: The Church. And preached Jesus in a way that was pretty much unheard of: Through Hip-Hop music. By dedication and following a real sense of calling, Fred helped usher in a new sub genre of Hip-Hop, Christian Hip-Hop. Tonight we get to hear about his journey, the journey of King Solomon J, and Ace One the MC, and also discuss the current and future state of the Christian Hip-Hop movement and more. Let's get to it. On this episode we sit down with Beau Brown who gives us his perspective on The Living Word Cult as an outsider looking in. Beau never attended the church itself, but was a student at the Living Word based school, Centers of Learning, in North Hills, California, which was originally attended only by members of TLWF and later opened up to the public. His unique observations as a non-member give us a window into how bizarre the church and its practices came across to the outside world. One day I (MC Till) was just minding my business when I saw this fresh looking emcee doing his thing on instagram. I clicked on something then clicked on something else and soon I found myself listening to “Same Love as Drug Dealers.” First the title alone drew me in. Then, the beats. They were mostly boom bap and also had an eclectic feel but the album remained cohesive. And then, the subject matter and how our guest tonight delivers his words. He is vulnerable one moment, expressing universal pain of loss and disappointment. Then, the next moment he is uplifting and sending us timely messages to make us better. We talk about that album and more in this episode of The Boom Bap Chat with Denmark Peoples. Episode 053 Beau Brown Legendary Downhill Skater and Long Time Icon in the Skateboard Industry Beau Brown is a good friend of mine. He has deep roots in the skateboard culture. He grew up in Huntington Beach in a very pioneering time in skateboarding. He raced Stand Up Downhill Skateboards primarily but skated a little of everything. He found his way into the business side of skateboarding, selling skateboard stuff for many years for Madrid, Tracker, Brand X, and worked with me at Acme Skateboards / Abc Board Supply for over a decade as well. He worked at Etnies/Sole Technology after Acme, and eventually made his way back into the deck market and today still manages manufucturing decks and other goods for some major players in skateboarding. Beau has always been dependable, stable, and independent, he is a good man to have on your side. We have been through a lot together, weddings, children being born, crazy days growing like wildfire at work, and we've watched some important stuff in our lives crumble in front of us. We've side by side through life's struggles emotionally, physically, and emotionally. Basically, you don't get better long term friends than this. The best part of doing this podcast is just having conversations with my friends like Beau, who have been a big part of my life, and a big part of skateboarding, sometimes in the foreground, and sometimes in the background. Hope you enjoy meeting or learning something new. Thanks for listening.

The first episode of the Needless Things Podcast was posted on January 1st, 2013. It's a conversation between Phantom Troublemaker (Dave) and Beau Brown about the 30th anniversary of Masters of the Universe. It was originally posted on the Internet Archive because we had no idea what we were doing. Now, five years later, the episode has been given a new introduction and outro and is finally being included in the Podbean library of episodes to be distributed to itunes, Stitcher, Uranus, and everywhere else podcasts aren't sold. Here are the show noted from that first episode in a cleaner form. Phantom wrote much longer show notes than Dave does.I guess this was bound to happen sooner or later. I knew at some point I would have to do my own thing. This was actually Beau’s idea. He messaged me that he wanted to do a Masters of the Universe podcast; possibly Earth Station Eternia. I thought that sounded like a great idea, so I ran it past Director Faber. He was not interested. I immediately knew I was just going to have to do it myself. I envisioned a year-end wrap-up of the Masters of the Universe Classics toy line and the 30th Anniversary. I got back to Beau to make sure he was down with that – he was – and started figuring out how the heck I was going to do it. Would there be cursing? (yes) How long did I want to record? (preferably about 90 minutes, but however long it took) How would I record? (with a Skype add-on called Amolto Call Recorder) How would I post it? (still working on that as of this writing) We had a recording date set of December 10th, but I got sick and couldn’t talk around the pound of snot hanging out in my throat. And then we did record ten days later. I had planned on doing a lot more than we did, but it just takes a while to discuss thirty-two action figures and the greatest playset of all time. Here’s the rundown, with links to reviews where appropriate (at the time of the recording I had not yet received my December shipment of Procrustus and Mosquitor; I skipped Granamyr): 30th FiguresPhotog – Heroic Master of Cameras designed by fan Nathan BitnerDraego-Man – Evil Fire-Breathing Menace designed by legendary toy designers The Four Horsemen – mention dropped weaponsSpector – Heroic Master of Time Travel designed by ToyGuru Scott Nietlich – I do not begrudge him this figure. I would totally do the same thing. Spector is boring and I didn’t get him or want him, but good for ToyGuru.Sir Laser-Lot – Heroic Knight of Grayskull designed by comic book writer Geoff Johns – Johns gets 80’s toys.Cy-Chop – Evil Horde Bounty Hunter designed by apparent lunatic Terry HiguchiCastle Grayskullman – Heroic Embodiment of Castle Grayskull designed by Daniel Benedict 2012 FiguresJanuary – Star SistersFebruary – Sorceress, Fisto, Shadow WeaverMarch – Kobra KhanApril – Thun-DERP-unch He-Man, DDPMay – Slush Head, Stinkor, Snake Mountain standsJune – Horde Prime, Snake MAA, GryphonJuly – Spikor, Vykron (SDCC)August – NothingSeptember - Mekaneck, DB Skeletor, Snake MenOctober – Rattlor, Frosta, Weapons PakNovember – Eternos Palace Randor, DekkkerDecember – Mosquitor, Procrustus, Granamyr CASTLE GRAYSKULL PREORDER! I had a fantastic time recording this thing with Beau and even enjoyed the editing to a certain extent. If the editing had been the only thing going on in my life I think I would have really liked it. Of course, that would also be very sad. I wasn’t sure to what extent Director Faber wanted the ESO Network to be involved given his initial level of interest, but he was pretty excited about making The Needless Things Podcast a part of his empire when I talked to him Sunday night during the latest Earth Station Who recording. He asked if I had included the ESO IDs and I went, “Uhh… no,” because I don’t have those IDs and the idea of me including them never came up. But he sent them along and now they’re in there and I can’t help but feel like this thing is even more official. Faber told me if I waited two weeks I could actually upload it to the ESO Network, but I’ve had this date in mind and thought it was really important to kick off 2013 with something big. I may re-upload it when he’s ready just so everything will be in one place. Speaking of big things, I also bought a domain name. You might (or might not) have noticed that your address bar says “NeedlessThingsSite.com” rather than “phantomtroublemaker.blogspot.com”. I’ve been feeling like that needed to happen for a while. I was never really happy with the address, but when I investigated I found out that “NeedlessThings.com” was already taken by some kind of fashion site that as far as I can tell has never been updated and seems to not even be in use.I haven’t really investigated the differences between the pure Blogspot site and whatever it is I have now, but apparently there are some. As the year goes on I’ll change whatever I can when there’s time. We’ll see. One last thing – this is more of a general type of thing than anything podcast-related, but just know that I’m toning down my costumes this year. The mask will still be everywhere I am, but I’ve decided to work with what I already have, costume-wise. I’m really trying to tighten up the spending and get rid of a few nagging debts, so this year is going to have a minimum of unnecessary expenses. I had wanted very badly to have a Phantom Troublemaker version of Doctor Six’s costume for TimeGate, but the time and money for such a thing simply aren’t there. I’m still gonna hug Colin Baker, though. Oh, and toys do not count as “unnecessary expenses”. So don’t worry about a lack of reviews. -Phantom Listen in as Phantom and Beau discuss the 2012 Masters of the Universe Classics toy line! Part of an ongoing series – the Needless Things Irregulars gather in the Phantom Zone to provide their own unique commentary on classic genre films!Special guests Mr. Beau Brown and Award-Winning Bobby Nash join the Commentary Team for the 1987 Masters of the Universe!Thirty years ago children all over the world were disappointed by Cannon's live action adaptation of Mattel's Masters of the Universe toy line. While director Gary Goddard, production designer William Stout, and the rest of the cast and crew worked their hardest to create an epic science fiction and fantasy experience, The Cannon Group's notorious budget limitations kept them from providing the movie fans wanted. Now, three decades later and thirty years wiser, the Needless Commentary team reviews He-Man's Hollywood debut to see if there are, perhaps, redeeming qualities that were missed the first time around. Part of an ongoing series – the Needless Things Irregulars gather in the Phantom Zone to provide their own unique commentary on classic genre films!Special Guest Mr. Beau Brown chooses this month’s movie – the 1983 sci-fi/fantasy cult classic, Krull! Thanks to Star Wars and Conan the Barbarian science fiction and fantasy were hot genres in the early 80s. Movies that blended the two were always exciting prospects for Hollywood, which is how an original idea like Krull ended up with a $47,000,000 budget, quite large for the time (equivalent to roughly $115,000,000 today). Krull was not a critical success and bombed spectacularly at the box office, bringing in just 16.5 million dollars. Like many underappreciated films it has gone on to achieve cult status. Listen in as Phantom Troublemaker, Rad Ranger, Arian, Ryan Cadaver, and special guest Mr. Beau Brown gather in the Phantom Zone to offer up their thoughts on this 1983 cult classic! Phantom Troublemaker, Ryan Schweck, R.T. Ewell, and Mr. Beau Brown share memories of the entertainment powerhouse that was Nickelodeon in the 1980s! Nickelodeon was the first television channel for kids and it has a legacy of irreverent, thought-provoking programming going all the way back to 1980. Shows like Mr. Wizard's World and Standby: Lights, Camera, Action! Sought to educate kids about the world around them while programs like You Can't Do That On Television were more subtle about the messages they presented. The 80s were a very different time in American culture and allowed for much edgier content on a channel aimed at children. Nickelodeon also featured programming expressly aimed at younger kids, as well. From Pinwheel to Today's Special, they set a standard for what the youth of the day expected from their shows. Phantom Troublemaker and Mr. Beau Brown reunite to take a look back at last year’s Masters of the Universe Classics releases from Mattycollector.com! As it turns out, 2014 was the penultimate year of the Masters toy line and Mattel delivered big. While there wasn’t a big release like Castle Grayskull, the releases were more consistently good than they’ve ever been. With impressive toys like Modulok, Extendar, and the surprisingly good Eldor, there were more highs than lows. Mattel also offered the second vehicle in the line – the Battle Ram – and yet another specialty subscription – Club Etheria. Beau and Phantom run down all of the releases of the regular line and Beau gives attention to the Battle Ram and Club Etheria, which Phantom passed on. Tune in and listen as two guys that genuinely love toys and He-Man have fun talking about the next-to-last year of what has turned out to be a legendary toy line worthy of the Most Powerful Man in the Universe!. “Procrastibate” by LeSexoflex.com
In this week's episode we divert from Halloween festivities (sorry, boils and ghouls) to address what is potentially the biggest news the toy industry has seen in over a decade - Scott Nietlich - AKA Toy Guru - has resigned from Mattel due to an offer from an as-yet unnamed competitor. On hearing this, Phantom Troublemaker scrapped plans for a horror toy episode and assembled the Needless Things Toy Irregulars - Mr. Beau Brown, Ryan Schweck, and Jay Hornsby, the Belligerent Monkey. The quartet discuss the announcements from Mattel and Hasbro at this year's New York Comic Con and then delve into a discussion about the past, present, and future of the toy industry's most recgnizable name. No matter what you think of him, there's no denying that Scott Nietlich had a huge impact on the collectors' market and the way that collector toys are marketed and sld. He worked on The Dark Crystal and Fraggle Rock, and is the man that built Uncle Traveling Matt. Tim also had a huge hand in the toy industry in the 80s, as he was the creator of both the Sectaurs and Boglins toy lines – two of the most original and notable lines of an amazing era of toys. In this episode Tim regales us with stories of puppet and toy design and fills us in on what he’s up to now – still designing truly unique creations and even re-launching the Boglins! Yes, the picture is correct - this is Episode 19 of the Podcast. We recorded it back in January, but for various reasons I have not been able to publish it until now. This makes the image for the Stephen Platinum episode incorrect, but the numbering is right on everything now.2013 was a huge year for Masters of the Universe and now it's time for me and Mr. Beau Brown to finally get together and talk about it. Or time for me to post our talk about it anyway. We actually recorded this back in January, but I haven't been able to put it up until now because of the restrictions I had on my hosting. Thanks to you Phantomaniacs I have finally been able to upgrade and I can do more podcasting than ever before. We'll see how that goes. I have lots of big plans for the future. As for Masters of the Universe, 2013 was pretty unbelievable. Not only did we get the long-awaited and often thought impossible Castle Grayskull, we also got the Filmation subscription. This was a big surprise - not so much that they were doing Filmation figures, but that they dedicated an entire six figure subscription to it. Going in I really didn't know how many Filmation characters would be popular enough to warrant a six-figure sub, but in the end it turned out it wasn't about the characters' popularity, but the coolness and execution of the figures themselves Beau and I had a great time talking about the 2013 line - as we always do with it when it comes to Masters of the Universe. I hope you guys have fun listening to us. As his habit now I'll remind you that you can go to Needless Things on Storenvy and buy t-shirts, stickers, and prints to help support us. I couldn’t be more excited and quite frankly impressed with myself as far as how this year is shaping up so far. I am pretty awesome. Just let me have this moment. I have three podcast episodes in the can already and two more on the schedule. Three of these episodes are interviews that to me are Big Deals – dany only, today’s with Adam WarRock, and another one that you’re just going to have to wait a week or so to find out about. I’m almost wishing I had more monthly space on Podbean, but that’s not going to happen because that takes even more money. On a related note, if you like what you hear, ypu can donate by clicking that PayPal button to your right!I give my whole Adam WarRock story in the show, so I’m not going to repeat it here. The deal is that his Doctor Who Mixtape dropped on January 7th and once I listened to it I was dying to talk to this guy. I didn’t know what format it would be – ideally we’d do an hour long Needless Things and record a ten minute drop-in about The Doctor Mixtape for Earth Station Who. But I’d take whatever I could get. I never know how folks are going to respond to things, so I was ready for anything from no response to a full hour and the drop-in. Because Adam WarRock is a righteous dude we got the full hour and the drop-in. Me and Mr. Beau Brown had a great conversation with the guy. Time to put together all of the stuff that I didn’t know what to do with and stick it in a podcast! I had two episodes that didn’t work out right at the end of the year, so I need to use up that storage space I’m paying for (feel free to chip in through the PayPal widget on the right side of your screen!). I have two recordings from Walker Stalker Con that never made it onto Needless Things. The first is an interview with Zack Galligan that was too short (not entirely his fault) and the second is a roundtable interview with Andrew Lincoln that I didn’t put up because there were nine other people involved and I figured they’d all put it up in bigger media outlets than I had access to. But now I feel kind of bad about not posting it (or about reviewing the Con, which was actually pretty great) so here it is. Finally, Beau and I did an audio review of the Masters of the Universe Jet Sled. It went on too long and I didn’t think it would make a very good episode by itself, but after going back and giving it a listen I do think it’s fun. Not something we’ll likely do again, but fun. Give it a listen and throw in a few bucks if you want to help pay the bills! “Procrastibate” and “Necrosex” by LeSexoflex.com “Theme From Gremlins” by Jerry Goldsmith -Phantom

It’s time for the next thrilling installment of the Needless Things Podcast! After the magic of Heroes Con I knew I was going to have to do a full episode with the magnificent DJ Spider. I got to enjoy an excellent conversation on costuming with her and some other folks at Heroes and I wanted to do my best to recapture it in podcast form. Aside from the fact that we were all sober this time I think it worked out pretty well. If you don’t know, DJ Spider is one of the premiere cosplayers of the Southeast. She is renowned for not only her skills, but the humor and wit that she puts into many of her costumes. Half of what she makes is based on dares. The other half is Dazzlers. If you’ve seen an excellent Big Barda walking around at one of the Southeastern cons, that’s probably Spider. Not only is she an amazing talent, she is also more than willing to share her knowledge and love of the hobby of costuming. So sit down with me, Mr. Beau Brown, and the lovely DJ Spider as we dive into the world of costumes and cosplay. “Procrastibate” and “Marriot Cock Squat” by LeSexoflex.com “Justice League Unlimited” by Michael McCuistion -Phantom
Surprise! It's time for another Needless Things Podcast!I hadn't expected to be doing another one quite so soon, but when my co-host Mr. Beau Brown wants to talk Masters of the Universe, I have learned it is best to get on the ball and make things happen. And there was a lot of MOTU news to talk about coming out of this year's San Diego Comic Con. Mattel probably had their best showing yet. But it wasn't all about Masters, or else it would be called San Diego Masters of the Universe Con. No, there was also news from Hasbro, NECA, and all of the other toy companies, as well as a few movie announcements.Join me - Phantom Troublemaker, my co-host Mr. Beau Brown, Jay Hornsby (The Belligerent Monkey), and Ryan Schweck as we run down some of our favorite - and not-so-favorite - reveals and bits of news from SDCC.Here's Episode 7 of the Needless Things Podcast!"Procrastibate" by LeSexoflex.com"Suppose the Doomsday Cults Were Right" by Kill, Baby... No – the live recording of Needless Things Podcast Episode 6 did not fill up the Odin’s parking lot or Media Room and certainly didn’t make Bobby Nash and Jay Hornsby rich men. But we did have a great time hanging out and recording and the trial by fire of the Olympus W-802 Digital Voice Recorder was a success. The point is that everybody involved had fun and we got a good conversation out of it. I learned several things that I will put into effect for the next live show on August 17th. I’m going to focus more on the show itself than trying to make any kind of event out of it. The bottom line is that we can record whether people show up or not. And as Bobby and I determined after the event, it’s pretty much always better recording in person, whether you have an audience or not. The interaction is more immediate and real and the conversation has a much better flow. So here’s Needless Things Episode 6 – LIVE From Odin’s Cosmic Bookshelf. Myself, Mr. Beau Brown, the Belligerent Monkey, and Bobby Nash talk about our dork roots and the state of DC Comics’ media empire. I hope you enjoy it. -Phantom "Procrastibate" by LeSexoflex.com "Icky" by They Might Be Giants
