What photos will we reveal as we play "Camera Roll Roulette" with our phones?
And just like that, it's over. The 2024 Oregon Ducks are now a team spoken about in the past tense. This week on The I-5 Corridor's Traffic Report, Justin Myers and Tyson Alger attempt to understand what that means. Plus: Is Tez Johnson the best Oregon receiver ever? For more, listen to this podcast in the player above or find us over on Apple or Spotify.Bonus: I know nobody really wanted to see more Rose Bowl things on Wednesday, so I held off on my usual “Camera Roll” post. But a little time has gone by, so I'm including my favorite behind-the-scenes shots and videos from Pasadena below. And away we go.NYE after the Lakers game got out. The media hotel.Breakfast of champions.Where we going Sean?My favorite thing at the Rose Bowl: Walking through the colorless tunnel and coming out to technicolor.Always fun to see the student paper kids get to experience something like this. Great season, Brady and Joe. I don't know how good of a football player Brady Breeze is anymore. But the hair game is as strong as it's ever been. The legendary Nick Krupke. The jacket is one thing, but I really should have gotten a shot of Orlando Sanchez's shoes. Flashier than Oregon's helmets. Just two Montana grads at the Rose Bowl. The band came to play.Do you think Urban is telling his friends that he rode an elevator with The Corridor? When your Alaska friends tell you to Facetime them from the Rose Bowl, you oblige them. That thing just sneaks up on you. The one major venue/game I've been to that's better in person than the TV presentation. If you ever get the chance, go. Behind the Bowl. About sums it up. “The media shuttle is that way.” Fin. Thanks for reading this season, everyone. It's been a trip. Have a great weekend. — Tyson Thanks for reading The I-5 Corridor! When Apple released iOS 17.5 in May, some users found previously deleted files popping up on their devices, including old photos. Apple released a fix -- iOS 17.5.1 -- just days later, but it raised the question of where those deleted files came from. Victoria Song, senior reviewer of wearable and fitness tech for The Verge, joined host Mike Rogers to discuss the iOS bug and the privacy we give up for the sake of convenience with our technology.
https://www.instagram.com/laurenlappin_In this week's episode Lauren discusses multiple ways to repurpose your existing Social Media Content into fresh content pieces for your Socials. Lauren uses all of these methods to repurpose her own Social Media Content on her accounts - so this isn't theory, it's tried and true. Do a deep-dive into your Insights on Instagram (or whatever analytics you have access to on your Social Media channel of choice) and make a list of high performing content pieces from 30-90 days ago. (Highlight pieces that people have saved). You CAN repost exactly the same content with little or even no tweaks to the images, videos and caption. (Try tweaking something simple like adding a different song to the post, or adding more eye-catching closed captions). You can use segments/sections from longer captions and blog posts that you've already created in the past and you can create a Carousel relating just to the subject of that section of text. You can repurpose any static feed post (image or video) into a Reel. (Integrating these posts with fresh B-roll footage from your Camera Roll is a great way to blend existing posts with footage you have in your phone into new content ideas). Turn high performing Reels into Static Posts, Carousels and Stories. Show Up On Stories!Break up Carousels into Story Sets.Keep in mind, the bigger your Content Bank the more chance there is that you have lots of great content that could be tweaked, updated and reposted. Use AI (like chatGPT) to help expand upon your existing text posts, captions and blog posts, and also to create new text content from your existing pieces. As Women of Color, self-doubt and criticism can practically feel like they're in our bones. But I promise you, they're not. Your beliefs are built around PRACTICE, they are not set in stone. What you believe about yourself is just the evidence you have received and accepted so far. I create the Belief Bookmarking practice because I desperately needed it in my life AND business. This process stems from a lifetime of what I now recognize as trauma.I'll delve into my own story, discussing how I was conditioned and brought up, my relationships, marriages, and the repeated patterns that led me to create the belief bookmarking process. For years, I wished I could be someone else, someone who trusted themselves and cared less about others' opinions. So I took matters into my own hands and made that possible for myself. The belief bookmarking process is my way of capturing moments of self-trust, bottling them up, and using them to remind myself. It's a conscious effort to plan for slipping back into old patterns. As humans, we tend to default to what we've always done. This process involves taking small moments of self-trust, turning them into evidence, and actively practicing beliefs about ourselves. In this episode, we're chatting about: - What is Belief Bookmarking? - How Belief Bookmarking has changed my life and business- ELEMENTS OF A BELIEF BOOKMARKING PLAN:1. Take your Intentional beliefs and plug them into “I Am” app. 2. Leave voice memos to yourself3. Favorite voice memos from clients or friends 4. Write notes to yourself when you are experiencing the beliefs you want to come back to 5. A Camera Roll folder in your phone with screenshots of messages you've received, client wins, praise etc.6. Listen to podcast episodes you have been on.7. Share wins with your people - it makes you accept them as truth more8. Celebration act - shows your body you are receiving the win and showing yourself love for itI hope this episode helps you begin the process of radical self-trust. Follow us at Apple Podcasts if you like what you are hearing. And please subscribe to The Ankler at TheAnkler.com for more interviews and stories like these.Though the world's eyes are on Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, few have spent time with the charismatic leader in recent weeks. Among the exceptions: Sean Penn and co-director/producer Aaron Kaufman, who were on the ground in Kyiv when Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24. The pair had been filming a documentary for Vice centered on the comedian-voice actor-turned-politician. In the early days of the war, Zelensky shared with Kaufman one of Zelensky's plans for resisting the Russian onslaught, which Kaufman then passed on to Ankler Editor at Large and Ankler Hot Seat podcast host Tatiana Siegel in the hopes it would be shared. The campaign, conceived by Zelensky and his leadership, is called “Your Business Smells Russian” and its objective is to limit the activities of international businesses in Russia and thus financially choke and pressure Russian leader Vladimir Putin. On the podcast, Siegel talks about her text exchanges last week with Kaufman, who told her that “Zelensky was hoping to get [a series of talking points] out to the world.”Here's the memo Kaufman says Zelensky asked him to share. Kaufman delivered the memo through a series of texts:The “Your Business Smells Russian” campaignInsight: At a time when states are banding together and making significant efforts to create sanctions for Putin's Russia, most Western companies continue to do business in Russia, following business as usual policies. They continue to bring in significant revenues to the budget, perform an important public function of "universal approval" in society, while declaring the importance of values for modern life. There is a policy of double standards, instead of support by actions, they close activities in Ukraine, (Coca Cola, Uber, McDonalds) motivated by military actions, they close in Ukraine, but not in Russia.Task:1) To show that this policy, just business, does not work in the modern business, in which values should be above all.2) To show global consumers that money earned in Russia is “bloody and toxic money”.Objective:To limit the activities of businesses in Russia, the outflow of finance/capital.Campaign:Your Business Smells RussianActions:1) Use well-known celebrities (e.g. Richard Branson) who could denounce double standards. Generate a large number (assault) of inquiries to companies in different countries about the ethics of doing business in Russia;2) Consumer reactions/boycotts to goods/services in their countries.3) Requesting ethic[al behavior] through national company forums.Examples of the depth of the problem:McDo - made $2.5 billion in Ru(ssia) last year;Coke - made $2.6 billion in profits for the quarterWhile it is unclear if Hollywood power brokers also received the memo, it appears that they got the message. A number of studios announced that they are “pausing” films scheduled for release in Russia including The Batman, Lost City and the Michael Bay action pic Ambulance. Similarly, Netflix put the kibosh on four series scheduled to shoot in Russia. “We're not talking China numbers, but you can have sizable box office performances in Russia,” Siegel noted during the podcast. “For example, Joker made $37.2 million in Russia, and something like The Batman, which has been paused, would likely be comparable.”In this episode, Siegel talks with co-hosts Janice Min and Richard Rushfield about Hollywood's big reaction to the ongoing crisis and contrasts that with its continued silence on Russia's ally, China, in addition to other entertainment headlines of the day. Every now a special moment reminds us why our photos are so important (a preschooler shedding tears over treasured pictures of his class, for instance), but often times we don’t realize how much they mean to us until we don’t have them anymore. In this second part of our podcast dedicated to photos, Vanessa and Erika discuss organizing, sharing, safeguarding, and printing your photos… and why it’s so important to do so. From deleting your blurry outtakes to make your camera roll more manageable, to taking advantage of shared albums and FREE photo storage, this episode shares simple hacks to ensure the moments you swore you’d never forget don’t get lost. Our goal is to strengthen families, and we feel there’s something powerful about putting photos in the hands of children (in fact, it’s science!). Don't forget to check out our episode show notes and then head on over to the MomForce Facebook group. There are over 6500 women there, engaging in conversations about all aspect of life!

Episode 193-I mean, it's just a Trailblazer. If you really want to get exactly what you want, it's going to take some work. And money. Usually a fair amount of money. In this week's episode we appreciate the individual that perfected the Buick station wagon. It took a lot of work, but the results are nothing short of stunning. We also turn our eyes to a wrecked Allroad, and try to put together the pieces of the now sadly impacted puzzle. Ooooof. Lastly, Dave once again finds himself as the sane half of the podcast as Ian suddenly takes a liking to the Saab 9-7x. Yeah, we don't know either, maybe something got mixed in with Ian's hair product this week and is making him think a little funny. Buy stuff with our hashtag brand on it! All about Instagram TV. Episode Summary: What is IGTV? How does it work? Why might you use it for your business & brand? How do I plan on using it for Mike Murphy Co? Follow me on Instagram & IGTV @mikeunplugged. What is IGTV? IGTV was launched in late June 2018 by Instagram. Instagram is owned by Facebook. There are now over 1 Billion users on Instagram. There are over 2 Billion users on Facebook. IGTV is a standalone app, separate from Instagram, but you can access IGTV from the main Instagram app. So what exactly is IGTV? Many are referring to it as TV for mobile devices, aka your phones. The channels on IGTV are you and me. Every content creator is their own channel and it is open to anyone and everyone. IGTV gives you a channel for you to create content that people browsing IGTV and can stop and watch and if they like what they can see, they can let you know by liking or commenting and following you, just like on Instagram. When you open IGTV, videos start playing automatically. Just like when you turn on your TV. Instagram gives you some options to browse including: For You, Explore, Following & Popular and you can search for creators. You cannot search for topics, but you can search for channels. Open the IGTV app and videos will start playing or if you are in the main Instagram app, just look in the upper right for the Orange TV icon and that will take you into IGTV. How Does IGTV Work? IGTV is all about vertical videos for your phone. The correct aspect ratio for IGTV is 9:16. The 9 is the width and the 16 is the height. This is the opposite of horizontal videos you would post on YouTube which have an aspect ration of 16:9. Just think vertical. Taller than it is wide. Tip: Do not place text or important elements or graphics close to the edges when making videos for IGTV or they may get caught off on certain phones. The most common size you will likely use for IGTV is 1080 px wide by 1920 pixels high. This is what your iPhone shoots and is the exact same aspect ratio and size for Instagram Stories. Videos you make for IGTV must be a minimum of 15 seconds long and a maximum of 10 minutes long. For accounts with over 10,000 followers & verified accounts can post videos up to 1-hour long, but for now, the average creator is limited to a maximum of 10-minutes per video. You can upload videos from your phone or in a web browser like Chrome or Safari which is pretty convenient. You can select a Custom Thumbnail or Cover Image. You can add a Title & Description And you have the option to Share to your Facebook Pages. If you do have over 10,000 followers and find you have the option to upload 1-hour videos, you will have to use a web browser. Uploading from a phone is not an option for the long videos. Viewers of your IGTV videos can leave comments that will show up in both IGTV and Instagram. They can also like and share to friends. IGTV also integrates with Instagram Stories in that you can create links in your Stories and viewers can simply swipe up and it will take them directly to any video you link to on your IGTV channel. So Why Should You Consider Using it for your business or brand? For starters, remember the stat about Instagram & Facebook having 3 Billion users, well that is one important reason. Instagram is massively popular and IGTV could be a really big deal for creators and brands to get exposure and market your business. IGTV is the first of its kind to focus on video made for phones (vertical) and mobile devices is how people are currently consuming the most content today, so the bottom line is IGTV is relevant and is adapting to the technology and the end user. You need to be where the eyeballs are, plain and simple and there is a lot of eyeballs on Instagram & Facebook. You cannot win if you do not play. You should consider using IGTV for your business and brand for many reasons, but here are a few: You can tell the story of your brand in long-form videos. You can market and advertise products and services. You can entertain or educate your followers and clients. You can network and collaborate with other brands and businesses. You can paint the picture of who you are and what you are trying to accomplish in your own creative way. Aside: Creating content is hard. Keeping up with the popular social media channel or buzz of the day is exhausting. One week you need to be doing Facebook Live and the next week it’s Instagram Live or Instagram Stories and now it’s IGTV. You can’t do everything and be everywhere at once, but you do need to be smart and be where people are and currently Instagram is wildly popular and influential, so you should not sleep on it. But here’s the secret, you need to get good at making content (writing, making videos, recording podcasts) because those are the core skills required to be relevant online today. Stop worrying about it and just figure out a method that you can get content out to the world that represents you and your business or brand. It does not have to be fancy or high-production, it just has to be uploaded so people can see it. Do not go on IGTV because everyone is doing it or it’s the latest thing. Go on IGTV because it is an opportunity to reach more people and showcase your skills or talents or products and services or whatever you are trying to achieve with your online presence. Maybe you want to grow your podcast audience. Maybe you want to send people to your YouTube channel. It doesn’t matter. It’s a a free and open stage for you to do anything. You just have to be innovative and put in the work. How Do I Plan on Using IGTV: I’m not overthinking and I am putting up content, but I see an open canvas and a real opportunity to showcase everything I am building in my own unique voice and style and to sharpen my skills and talents. I am looking at IGTV like a YouTube channel but with more opportunity to be creative and mix up the content. I plan on posting tutorials and quick tips made for vertical viewing. I plan on creating entertaining and fun animation style videos that range from promoting this podcast to promoting Murphy Concierge that may be marketing my business but also showing my skills as a creative and video creator. I also plan on doing behind the scenes and vlog style videos that are a little more cinematic and interesting. Not overly polished or dramatic, but visually interesting and storytelling in nature with voiceover narratives or music driving the video. I see IGTV as the almost perfect platform for creatives to let their freak flag fly and be unique by doing something nobody else has done before. IGTV is going to be my reality show for Mike Murphy Co and I can tell the story however I want and people will watch if it is entertaining, inspiring or they can make a connection with me. That will take trying new things and experimenting. I’m good with that and you should be too. In short for me, IGTV I am looking at as a story-telling platform for me and my brand. I plan to share who I am am what I am doing in my own version of a vlog. A creative infomercial And to be clear, the content I create may be promoting me or showcasing my skills, but everything I make is with the end user in mind. Will this piece of content teach something or be entertaining or will it inspire people to go create something for themselves. In conclusion: IGTV is a standalone app on iOS & Android Phones that plays vertical videos 24/7 and it and the channels on this TV are individual creators. Everyone is welcome to create content on IGTV. You cannot shoot live videos on Instagram TV. Videos can be uploaded from your Camera Roll on your phone or you can use a web browser on your computer, which is a nice feature. Videos must be at least 15 seconds long and up to 10 minutes maximum. If you have over 10,000 followers or are a verified account you can upload videos up to 1 hour long, but you must use a browser to upload the longer videos. The aspect ratio for IGTV videos is 9:16. The opposite of wide/horizontal videos you watch on YouTube. The size you will most like make for videos is 1080px wide by 1920 px high. Why you should consider using IGTV to promote your business and brand: Because Instagram & Facebook is big. There is a lot of positive momentum. There is endless opportunity for you whether it be to grow your podcast or sell your product or simply build a community. Do not feel compelled to create IGTV because you feel pressured. Do it because you understand that connecting with people and having your message and story be heard is the name of the game, and the easiest way to do so is to go where people are. IGTV may or may not be a big deal in a few months from now and it does not matter. What matters is the practice and exercise of telling your story and building relationships with people who want to be part of your journey. IGTV is giving you a really easy platform for you to do anything you want. You just have to do it. Me on IGTV? I will post tutorials, but I am also figuring out how to double down on sharing my story of building an online business around teaching people how to create content and inspiring people to create the life they want, by demonstrating how I am doing it. I make no bones about it that it is hard and can be frustrating at times and there is tons of self-doubt and uncertainty involved, but I know it will be worth it and I want to take others along the ride for fuel to keep creating and to make an impact. If you have questions about IGTV or anything, you can reach me anytime at mike@mikemurphy.co.

Apple Auddo Stille Post. I'm conducting a month long blitz on using various forms of animation with my dozen or so classes.Part of my teaching assignment is to introduce new ways to "show what you know". And from my days 5 years ago taking photographs with a tripod and using Windows Movie Maker to try to animate the photos we have come a long way since then. I continue to find this type of storytelling interesting, innovative and a very good way to motivate students.I have collected a number of resources along the way and tried to find ways to bring animation closer to the students. In the photo above, you'll see my 6 year old Mac Mini, a 5 year old school owned Canon Mini DV camera and a school owned monitor. I used this set-up this week as a demonstration animation station. I have it on a metal cart on wheels which allows me to move from classroom to classroom.National Film Board - Canada (NFB) ResourcesStopMo - Great site. 18 minute segmented step-by-step process for animation. Includes a detailed series of lesson plans which can be adapted to different grade levels.SoftwareWe're very fortunate to have an agreement with Tech4Learning to have Frames animation software installed on each academic image among publicly funded schools in Ontario.Mobile Animation Apps. for iOSFor iPhone and iPod Touch I have had success with (free) LEGO® Super Heroes Movie MakerAnd just last week a student in grade 8 showed me a terrific app. for iPhone and iPod Touch called iMotion HD. Unlike the LEGO® app., which saves to the Camera Roll, iMotion HD does not save unless you purchase the full version for $1.99. We also use the animation instructional videos included with NFB's free (in Canada) PixStop Animation App. for iOS. Three short tutorial films are included with the app. and are very good: "Three Principles of Animation", "Flipbook" , and "Storyboarding".Steps in the ProcessI encouraged students to keep a few things in mind when creating their animations:a) Create a 3 panel storyboard which shows: beginning, middle, and end.b) Write next to your sketch the Action Sequence in each panel.b) Select no more than 3 characters to be the 'talent' in the animation.c) Tell your story in 10 seconds or less.d) Decide ahead of time whether you'll be creating your animation as a Pixilation with classmates, with toy characters, or with clay.Note: There are other animation options but these are three good ones with which to start.Teacher Created Resources:York Region teacher Dan Grant uses animation in his junior classroom and penned an article a while back for ETFO's Voice magazine on Stop Motion in the classroom. The best collection of templates and instructional videos around is by teacher Kevin Hodgson. His animation website is terrific.Update: This week we started storyboarding and creating backgrounds. A trip to No-Frills was necessary. Came back with about 40 cardboard boxes!
