In this episode of Drivetime, Sopariwala describes how DRiV, the aftermarket division of Tenneco, is focused on making bold, innovative moves within the automotive aftermarket. A prime example of this is the company's implementation of cutting-edge automation technology at its AutoStore facility in Smyrna, Tennessee, DRiV's largest distribution center for the U.S. and Canada. The facility utilizes 125 robots working in harmony to pick and place products at the rate of over 100 lines per hour, demonstrating DRiV's commitment to exploring the “art of the possible,” Sopariwala explained. The Tenneco portfolio is comprised of over 32 brands, including Moog, Monroe, Fel-Pro and Champion, many of which are over 100 years old and are market leaders in their categories, according to Sopariwala, who sees strong growth opportunities for DRiV globally, with double-digit growth in many regions. The brands span a range of vehicle components, from suspension and exhaust parts to gaskets, spark plugs and engine oil. “I'm really proud of the DRiV team globally that has delivered year-over-year growth in a down market,” Sopariwala said.As he looks ahead to 2025, Sopariwala said DRiV will continue capitalizing on growth in key markets, including heavy-duty commercial vehicles, which now represent a growing portion of its business. And, while the transition to EVs is accelerating in passenger vehicles, he anticipates a prolonged demand for aftermarket parts for internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, likely extending into the late 2040s.To hear more about DRiV's initiatives, be sure to watch the video above.Episode Overview:• Sopariwala explains DRiV's “bold moves” strategy (0:50)• The details of Sopariwala's extensive industry background (2:39)• The relationship between Tenneco and DRiV (4:13)• Top brands under the DRiV umbrella (4:56)• Business climate in 2024 and outlook for 2025 (5:58)• Deeper dive into the DRiV brands (7:20)• Future of EVs and evolving technology (10:55)• Heavy-duty segment as an important part of DRiV's business (13:03)• How Garage Gurus makes life easier for the installing technician (14:26)• Lightning Round (16:16)

It's election week here in the US, so onTRUST ME I KNOW WHAT I'm DOING , we're sharing Lotus for POTUS conversations, hearing insights from leading edge voices to help inform us and get out that vote! A few months ago, I created a meme with a photo of Vice President Harris that went “In Sanskrit, Kamala means Lotus… In America, Kamala means POTUS” and for me and many others, that sentiment sums up the urgent choice we're making at the highest level, being thoughtful about our past, present, and future. Not just for our community, but for every community of voters of any age in the US, what it all comes down to is showing up and exercising the ultimate demonstration of trust and individual power in a democracy - which is casting your vote in a free and fair election. Indian Americans and South Asian Americans are the fastest growing voter bloc in the US, having the power to be the true margin of victory in many places, and as civic engagement continues to grow and foundationally expand, the work of organizing and mobilizing and activating at local and national levels become more complex and genuinely imperative. With over 60 endorsed candidates across the country, Indian American IMPACT is doing just that - making a difference with a thoughtful and action oriented approach. And as the last push is upon all of us after such a long and incredibly grueling road, it was great to catch up with Executive Director Chintan Patel. And getting right to it after traveling to many battleground states recently, as Chintan introduced himself and his work, I also asked him to describe the tone and temperature of what he's seeing and feeling out there in the community…Remember, conversation is truly the antidote to apathy… Go to Iwillvote.com for information about voting resources, to desipresident.com, iaimpact.org, southasiansforharris2024.org, and to kamalaharris.com to get engaged and learn directly about the Harris-Walz campaign. Please get involved, get active, and get informed about all your local issues and candidates up and down the ballot, and most importantly GO VOTE. Till next time, I'm Abhay Dandekar.

`class` is made for ott and couldn't be anywhere else! It's smoulders and keeps burning like coal - and it ignites all our senses . For lovers of the original show I don't know what you are feeling but I hadn't seen `elite` . I came in expecting nothing and went out dazzled. The exploration of teen sexuality and experimentation, the visuals, drama and recreation of both sides of the train tracks - the ultra rich and the ultra poor. The rich kids aren't even aware of any caste system - to them the poor are just one large lower caste . And the poor - well they go about segregating themselves and the poor kids sure know which caste they are in. The murder, the killing, the whodunnit, the drug culture (shake yourself up - it exists - and even in schools not just colleges and beyond ) were just portrayed the way they should be - real and gritty. Guys like rajesh devraj & kersi khambatta and are master writers who understand the underbelly as well as the upper echelons of society which is why the writing is so good . ashim ahluwalia was always a director who's work was provocative and he's pushed the ante on this one. The kids have all worked themselves hard. anjali sivaraman, piyush khati , madhyama segal, naina bhan, gurfateh pirzada, cwaayal singh are amazing and really this series once it releases will see the birth of some stars - some might even become overnight sensations. There are a bunch of cinematographers who've worked on ‘class' - one of them is tapan basu who shot kahani - one of my favourite franchises. The look and feel of both the high society kids and their dwellings juxtaposed with the slum kids and their dwellings is something I loved. The series is streaming on netflix now so go watch!
Born in Mumbai, Chintan became interested in the culinary world at a young age. When of age, he enrolled in one of the most prestigious culinary schools in India, the Oberoi Centre of Learning & Development where he trained under the finest chefs from Oberoi Hotels. His professional career began at a hotel restaurant in Mumbai, where he spent eight years in the kitchen learning traditional Indian cuisine and techniques. During this time, Chintan traveled throughout the sub-continent in order to develop a deeper connection with the way locals ate and became well versed in the bold spices and dishes he came across. Eventually Chintan left India for bigger opportunities. His culinary career took him to an extremely diverse set of locales including Singapore, Cleveland, Atlanta, and finally New York. It was in New York that Chintan joined the Michelin-starred Junoon for a brief stint before he met restaurateur Roni Mazumdar in 2017 and became the chef at the modern and upscale Rahi, followed by Adda Indian Canteen for which Chintan was the winner of the 2019 StarChefs New York Rising Star and within a year after Adda opened the restaurant was on the short list to be nominated for a James Beard Foundation award for “Best New Restaurant” Food & Wine Magazine's "Top Ten Best New Restaurants 2019", Eater National's Best New Restaurants 2019” and Bon Appetit's "Top 50 Best New Restaurants of 2019". In 2020, Chintan was looked at as a finalist for the James Beard Foundation Awards "Best Chef in the NY Region". In 2021 the duo opened Dhamaka, for which Chintan won The James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef New York State. The first win in this category for an Indian chef. Dhamaka was also named the #1 restaurant of the year by The New York Times, Esquire Magazine, and one of the top 50 restaurants in the country by The New York Times. Dhamaka was also nominated for the James Beard Foundation “Best New Restaurant of 2021” award. Chintan has also taken cuisine to the next level by partnering with artist Mattia Casalegno in Aerobanquets RMX, a virtual reality experience combining food and fantasy, which took place at the James Beard House, and continues to tour the globe. Smart Agency Masterclass with Jason Swenk: Podcast for Digital Marketing Agencies
Is it time to replace yourself within your agency? Could you grow faster with by bringing on someone in a president role? What do you expect from someone in this seat? Today's guest was brought into a digital agency to help run the business as the owner stepped back. He now recalls his journey adjusting to the role of president and gives tips on what you should expect when you start looking for someone to replace you. Chintan Shah is the President of KNB Communications, a full-service marketing and PR firm dedicated to healthcare, especially in the area of health technology. He started his career in marketing, product development, and product management, and eventually found himself leading a sales and marketing division for a medical device company. After overseeing an agency's integration into this company, the agency owner actually reached out to him to let him know she was looking to step back from daily operations. She needed someone to help her run the agency. Fortunately, Chintah was looking for a new adventure in his career, so it was perfect timing on both sides. He has now been leading the agency for six years. In this episode, we'll discuss: Where to start the search for new agency leadership. Leveraging experience in sales as the president of an agency. 4 KPI's that define and measure the success of new agency leadership. They had worked together for three years previously, so it was natural to share the need to hire and ask for candidate referrals. When you're looking for someone to replace you, you may not want to start by openly broadcasting your intentions. For instance, you can start by reaching out to former clients and contacts within your network to let them know that you're looking for someone. It's important to understand the criteria of what you're looking for. What do you want that person to do? Make a list to identify some of the top criteria, which will depend on your priorities. You may be looking for experience or someone who brings something new to take your agency to the next level. Do More Sales Equal Faster Agency Growth? Chintan believes there are a lot of similarities between the sales side and the marketing side of a business. Sales is part of the few key components that will help grow your agency. Do more sales fix a growth problem? As a former salesperson, Chintan believes this is not the case at all. Of course, it is part of overall agency success, but you have to have scalable processes and tools, and technology to help you grow. As he started this new phase of his career, he leveraged his experience as he learned other parts of the business. Learning about the agency's growth. Bringing in new business. Defining core capabilities. Looking for new growth areas. He also immersed himself in the PR aspect of the agency, an area where he really leaned on his team's expertise and willingness to teach him. At one point, he thought he needed to have a key role in all aspects of the business. However, he learned that having confidence combined with the right processes is the key to letting go and trusting the team. Hiring an Outsider to Run Your Digital Agency Chintah's advantage when it came to fitting in with his team was that many of them already knew him. Furthermore, at the time he joined the agency, the team had shifted after a few key players left. The timing was ideal for an outsider to come in and run the agency without causing unnecessary friction. Some things changed in the hierarchy as their relationship changed from working as a client to working in the company. It was Chintan to establish a new type of relationship with the team. Looking back on the process, he admits he could have been more aggressive in getting new clients. When he came in and started assessing the state of the agency, he took a look at their clients. He worked on really defining the agency's capabilities and growth potential. However, a lot of their digital marketing services needed improvement. In hindsight, he should have leaned into that faster to secure new agency business and grow a little bit faster. 4 KPI's that Will Help You Define Success Running an Agency Most agency owners should not be in a position of managing the full team. As you grow your agency, you'll need to delegate several things while you focus on strategy. One of those delegations is management (and there are only 5 roles of an agency CEO.) As you probably do with clients, it's good to sit down and define aspects of what success looks like. A good place to start is with realistic growth expectations and additional investments. In short, it's about having a business plan that says “this is what I expect.” Following this, make sure to assess on a quarterly and monthly basis to really see how they are doing. There are 4 KPI's to assess when defining success: Top line revenue and net income. The number of clients in the portfolio. Ability to upsell or cross-sell existing clients. Size of the team. Looking at all those things and finding where you may be over-leveraged and where you may not have enough resources. It is a balance that takes learning and that can vary for different types of agencies. Want the Support of Amazing Digital Agency Owners? Historically, health systems in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) have taken a volume-based approach to health rather than a value-based one. The public sector has focused on coverage rates or access, and the private sector profits when it drives quantity of expensive, hospital-based care. Adhering to this path will create long-lasting structural flaws that increase costs without delivering desired results, similar to what we see in the US and many other developed economies. Our guest this week is Dr. Chintan Maru, founder and executive director of Leapfrog to Value, a health initiative to advance value-based care in lower- and middle-income countries. Dr. Maru is a medical doctor and public health expert who has dedicated his career to maximizing the value of health systems. The race to value is not limited to fixing health care in the US – lessons learned and shared internationally will have world-wide impact, and will help lower- and middle-income countries leapfrog past hurdles and accelerate their own race-to-value. Join us as we learn from Dr. Maru about his efforts to leapfrog to value in Ghana, South Africa, Kenya and India! Episode Bookmarks: 01:45 Low- and middle- income countries (LMICs) are at-risk of replicating system flaws from higher-income countries 02:10 The Leapfrog to Value strategy: Building a robust ecosystem for VBC experimentation 04:00 How Dr. Maru's father dealing with Parkinson's Disease provided a personal perspective on the work he does in value-based care 06:00 “In low- and middle-incomes countries now, quality has eclipsed access as a prime driver of outcomes.” 08:30 “There is a big focus in low- and middle-incomes countries on primary care and community-based health delivery, often via community health workers.” 09:15 How Value-Based Care differs In LMICs: focus on how to spend more on health to achieve universal health coverage! 09:45 “Instead of volume versus value, you are trying to get both volume and value.” 11:00 Ensuring localization by directing donor-funded programs for health system development with local stakeholders 13:15 Dr. Maru explains how the definition for “value” differs in LMICs when implementing universal healthcare 14:00 “The phrase ‘value-based care' hasn't really shaped the dialogue for universal health coverage for places like India or Kenya yet. It's just coming into the conversation.” 14:15 How can payment models in LMICs prioritize health over healthcare? 15:15 Feasibility versus point of path feasibility in creating value-based care systems 16:30 “There is a ‘leapfrog to value' opportunity in low- and middle-income countries to build a value-based health care system somewhere between the point of feasibility and the point of path dependency.” 17:00 Building new national health insurance models in Kenya, India, South Africa, and Ghana to experiment in value-based care 18:45 Dr. Maru cites mobile banking penetration in Nairobi as an example of how we can learn from the ingenuity of others when there isn't already an entrenched ecosystem 20:15 Partnering with USAID Center for Innovation, the Gates Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation on the Leapfrog to Value flagship report 21:45 Getting buy-in from local stakeholders in LIMCs for value-based care experimentation and innovation 23:00 “Value-based care is partnership-driven.” 24:00 The role of global health donors in providing risk capital to cover the costs of value-based care pilots in LMICs. 25:00 Comparing climate change and the need for environmental sustainability to the value-based care movement 26:30 Determining appropriate hospital bed capacity in places like Mumbai, India, Lagos, and Nigeria 27:30 Sensitizing healthcare investors to take a bit of a civic-spirited point of view--perhaps even before any value-based payments really shape the market 28:45 Creating the right incentives for patients to be responsible for perso...
