What is an NFT, and why would anyone want to buy one? There are lots of reasons why someone might buy a certified JPG or other NFT, but there's no guarantee your NFT will increase in value or even retain the value you paid for it. In this episode, host Michele Bousquet talks about different kinds of NFTs on the market, how they compare to physical art items, and how fraudsters have found a rich source of free funds in NFT theft.Sources:Joey Mars websiteInvestors sue Sotheby's, Justin Bieber, Hilton among others as NFT prices crashSeth Green's Bored Ape NFT Got “Kidnapped"NFT Price Floor - Bored Ape Yacht ClubSupport the show
NFTs may not be fungible, but they are transferable, and they are sometimes stolen with no traditional recourse. The PLRB crew discuss Bored Apes, acronyms, whether pixels are physical, and whether the internet is just a fad. Coverage topics include direct physical loss, special limits of liability, Property Not Covered, and more. Notable Timestamps [ 00:38 ] - An erstwhile member of the Bored Ape Yacht Club clicked a malicious link and his NFTs were transferred to an unknown source. The police were unable to assist. [ 01:06 ] - An NFT or “Non-Fungible Token” is a digital certificate of ownership residing on a blockchain. In the art world, someone may be the true owner of a piece of art while the actual piece of art is stored elsewhere, and even if someone makes a copy. NFTs apply that same logic to digital art and other media. [ 06:03 ] - Several courts have held that the loss of NFTs is not considered a “direct physical loss.” The microchip is physical, but the information on it is not. [ 09:00 ] - Special Limits of Liability likely do not apply. However, an argument could be made that NFTs fall under the policy language for “securities, accounts, deeds, evidences of debt, letters of credit, notes other than bank notes, manuscripts, personal records, passports, tickets and stamps.” [ 11:17 ] - Newer “Property Not Covered” provisions often discuss digital currency, but NFTs are not considered currency. The defining characteristic of currency is that it is fungible: any dollar is exchangeable with any other dollar. On the other hand, NFTs are by definition non-fungible. [ 13:12 ] - Just like traditional art, experts may be needed to evaluate the worth of NFTs. [ 16:01 ] - Tim provides a recap of the scenario and the points above. NFT could stand for New Format Tourism, but it actually means Non-Fungible Token, and it's linked to blockchain technology. Slovenia was the first country to use NFTs to promote tourism. In this episode, Dr. Noah Charney visited the Ultimate Julian Alps Sensory Adventure, a groundbreaking three-day event, for which 15 esteemed foreign media representatives exchanged their exclusive NFTs given to them at WTM London last November. During the event, which took place in Bohinj, the journalists stayed at the exquisite Bohinj Hotel, providing them with a comfortable and convenient base for their immersive exploration of the region.Dr. Noah Charney spoke with Klemen Langus, Director of Bohinj Tourism, Aljoša Ota, the Director of the Representative Office of the Slovenian Tourist Board in Italy, Tadej Slapnik, the CEO of Hashnet, and Tanja Bivic Plankar, the Chair of Blockchain Alliance Europe, and discussed both how cutting-edge technology is being used to promote tourism, and how Bohinj can become the “living room” for its guests. The Ultimate Julian Alps Sensory Adventure represents an innovative approach to promoting Slovenian tourism, bridging the gap between digital assets and tangible value. By integrating advanced technology, the project emphasizes the importance of responsible attitudes towards nature and raises awareness about disappearing plant and animal species in the Julian Alps, such as the Alpine mynah and the wild rooster. The STB and the Julian Alps highlight the crucial link between nature and humans, underscoring that the future of the planet relies on this awareness.During the event, journalists attended the International Wild Flower Festival, learned about preserving nature's balance and biodiversity, and experienced the fragility of ecosystems and the importance of sustainable solutions and responsible travel. The sensory experience served as a reminder to immerse oneself in the environment with all senses. The event also featured a special dinner prepared by Michelin-starred chef Uroš Štefelin.Feel Slovenia the Podcast is brought to you by the Slovenian Tourist Board and hosted by Dr Noah Charney.Sound Production: Urska Charney For more inspirational content, check out www.slovenia.info and our social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Tripadvisor.

So today we are going to go down the rabbit hole of NFTs. What the heck is an NFT. It is a Non Fungible Token. Basically, an NFT is a completely original digital file or a digital collectable which is registered on a blockchain ledger just like any cryptocurrency. But unlike cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin or Ethereum, an NFT is totally unique and because it lives on the blockchain it verifies who is the rightful owner of this one-of-a-kind digital collectable file.In February 2021, digital artist Peebles sold a digital artwork for $69.3 million at auction. You heard correctly almost $70 million for a digital file. The founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, sold his very first tweet as an NFT for $2.9 million. It took me a minute to understand what these things were and then it clicked. NFTs are digital baseball cards, comic books, Garbage Pail Kids or Pokemon cards. They are just a digital version and in many ways better because you know exactly how many copies exist. The NBA is sell "moments" as NFTs through NBA Top Shots. Basically, they are selling highlight clips as NFT and they are killing it. Fans of the NBA are gobbling these NFTs as fast as they are released. I really think there is now one doing NFTs better than the NBA right now.Musicians are having amazing success selling NFTs directly to their fans. This is turning the established music industry on its head. NFTs are essentially killing off the middle man. No more label, just a direct relationship with the artist's fans. The other amazing thin about NFTs is that the artist continues to make money on every sale of the NFT forever. Let me explain. When an artist creates a NFT by minting it. Minting is the process of create the digital file (NFT) and placing it on the blockchain. The artist then sets the residual percentage every time the NFT sells. So if I mint a short film and sell it for $500. I get $500. Now, if the new owner sells it 2 years from now for $10,000 I get 10% of that sale. Every time that NFT is resold I get my cut. All transactions transparent. All on the blockchain. So how can filmmakers make money? There are so many options because NFTs are in their infancy. Everyone is trying to figure out how to use them in indie film. Some ideas are:Selling the distribution rights to the entire film, like Kevin Smith is doing with is latest film KilljoySelling the distribution rights to your film in shares like the indie film LotawanaCreate an NFT to a short film to finance itSell NFT collectables from the filmFund raise your film's budget with NFTsThese are just some ideas. I decide to throw my hat in the ring and created an experiment. I minted a few NFTs for my first short film BROKEN and some "legacy NFTs" of the first ever filmmaking tutorials ever uploaded to YouTube. Here is the description of one of the NFTs.This NFT is called Muzzle Flash Breakdown and is one of the first filmmaking tutorials to ever be uploaded to YouTube. It was uploaded on August 28, 2006 by filmmaker, author and Indie Film Hustle Podcast host Alex Ferrari from his 2005 award-winning short film BROKEN. It was taken from the best-selling DVD of the film. That DVD was one of the first indie short films to ever create a massive collection of tutorials and making of videos that explained how to make a low-budget independent film with off-the-shelf software and digital consumer cameras. This is part of a limited series of filmmaking tutorials that were uploaded to YouTube from the short film BROKEN. All the videos were uploaded and released on the same day in 2006. The external link attached to this NFT will show the original upload to YouTube.Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFPoBZY5BrAWhen you purchase this NFT you will also gain access to the short film BROKEN, the entire collection of tutorials and commentary tracks via private link and passcode. You will also receive the original QuickTime file that was uploaded to YouTube. To access my NFTs go to: www.ifhnft.comI released three of 6 of the total filmmaking tutorials I uploaded on YouTune back in Aug 2006. If these sell out I'll upload the rest and maybe some of my other popular short films I directed over the years. I wanted to give you an example of what an independent film NFT looked like and this is totally an experiment to see what happens.Maybe I'll never sell an NFT, maybe I sell them three years from now or maybe they will sell out in 15 min. Who knows. What I am excited about is the potential of what this could mean for the indie filmmaking community. In this episode I break down everything you need to know about NFTs, how to make money with them and more. Enjoy!

On today's episode Paige chats with her husband Sam about business, the crypto world, and what NFTs mean for artists and creators. Sam, who works in business and strategies, originally went to school to study accounting and entrepreneurship in hopes of opening his own business, saying “accounting is the language of business.” As he migrated through the different divisions of the business world he learned about crypto currency and NFTs.The beauty of NFTs is that it creates value for communities as well as value for the creator, states Sam. He breaks down the large, intimidating world of crypto currency and what potential it has for creators. Sam also points out that the key to navigating this space is having a community, without it the hype surrounding crypto will become nothing.Check out and follow Sam's pages!Sam's Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/sammagnant/ Sam's Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/artist/3hmL9uTl155MoFm3BOW3nS?si=OflO_yaSTY6lupF7kx40MA&nd=1Sam's YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkBfgT6aO0M-OYzqrG951FQ?view_as=subscriber

Chris Skinner is known as one of the most influential people in technology, and as an independent commentator on fintech through his blog, The Finanser.com. His latest book (sixteenth!) is called Doing Digital. He is Chair of Nordic Future Innovation, is a non-executive director of 11:FS and on the advisory boards of many FinTech and financial firms. Mr. Skinner has been an advisor to the United Nations, the White House, the World Bank and the World Economic Forum. He is a visiting lecturer with Cambridge University, as well as, a TEDx speaker. In recent years, he has been voted one of the UK's foremost fintech observers by The Telegraph and one of the most influential people in financial technology by the Wall Street Journal's Financial News and Thomson Reuters. Chris is also a successful children's author and co-founder of The Portrait Foundation, a non-profit platform to encourage children and the arts. Let's start with the recent crash in crypto, in your blog you state that you believe the end-game will be a hybrid model of CBDCs, stablecoins and cryptocurrencies. I found is fascinating that you state that too many people believe these currencies are all about HODLing (in the crypto slang it's about keeping them as an investment) instead of what currencies are really about, which is allowing the exchange of value to buy and sell products and services. It's all about creating currencies that work for value exchange in a networked world.Would you like an opportunity to give this more depth for those just beginning to invest in cryptocurrency and please define CBDC (central back digital currency)? What is your take on a global coin and how this would affect governments if it's realized? A coin that can be traded anywhere, anytime, in real-time with anyone.Your book, Digital Human, explores the transformations that are sweeping through all spheres of life: the domination of global digital giants; the advent of new financial structures (FinTech); the disruption brought about by Bitcoin; the rise of robots; and the fall of banks.A standout line from your book: not only will everyone on the planet be connected digitally, they can be raised out of poverty through inclusion. Can we dive into your thoughts on blockchain, cryptocurrency and how this may level the playing field for those in poverty?Digital for Good looks at everything from how banking plays a role in the climate emergency through the FinTech world using technology to overcome issues of inequality and inclusion. I'd like to understand this intersection, can you share your vision for Fintech in lifting us out of this global climate crisis and possibly helping marginalized lives?Chris Skinner's Blog, The Finanser Chris Skinner, LinkedinChris Skinner, TwitterHolly Shannon's WebsiteZero To Podcast on AmazonHolly Shannon, LinkedinHolly Shannon, InstagramHolly Shannon, TwitterWatch Culture Factor and VaynerNFT#nfts #nft #nftart #cryptocurrency #blockchain #metaverse #culturefactor #web3 #smartcontracts #bitcoin #nftartist #nftcollectors #eth #ethereum #youtubers #tiktok #instagram #reels #branding #entrepreneur #coach #consulting #zerotopodcast #podcast #jobsearching #thoughtleader #thoughtleadership #startapodcasttoday #startapodcastalready #experiences #experientialmarketing #companyculture #employeeengagment #community #peertopeer #decentralizedeconomy
Sooo….what even is an NFT? Stephanie and Lacey have been trying to keep up and educate themselves on the ever evolving Digital world, involving Crypto, NTF's, and the Metaverse. Summer is coming with the solstice on June 21, yet we are in the depths of a crypto and NFT winter with the brunt of the bear market. The NFT markets are down, but adoption hasn't slowed at all; in fact, it has increased. Sir Lords Joel and Travis offer an NFT market update of where we are now, and look ahead to where we're going. This environment feels reminiscent of the 1999-2000 technology bubble, where technology companies exploded in the market and only a few survived to be long-term, viable and successful companies. Joel and Travis give their thoughts - not financial advice - on the projects and features they see maintaining dominance in the space. The NFT community is congregating in New York City for NFT.NYC next week as building season continues with a multitude of events and collaboration opportunities for attendees. Joel and Travis are speaking on DAY ONE of NFT.NYC at Radio City Music Hall around 2:40 PM ET, sharing the “15 Ways to Create a Successful NFT Project”. Will you be there? In this episode of the Making Bank podcast, we welcome Sean Kelly, the founder of the Chibi Dinos NFT project, which sold all 10000 of its PFPs in 18 minutes, generating around 2.4 million dollars in revenue. He is also the founder and CEO of Jersey Champs and the marketing agency NFT Gorillas which recently got acquired. Sean is currently working as the Vice President of Web3 Marketing at InfiniteWorld, a metaverse infrastructure company. Sean talks about how he entered the NFT and dives into NFTs and what makes them valuable. He talks about his journey in the NFT space and answers some of the questions you may have as a newcomer. Listen to Josh and Sean discuss NFTs: (2:22) Sean's Start As An Entrepreneur Sean's entrepreneurial career started when he was in college. He founded Jersey Champs, where he would go on to sell custom throwback jerseys. Jersey Champs was his entry into the e-commerce world, and through drop shipping, he was able to make his first six figures. When COVID came around, Sean's e-commerce business took a hit. However, at the time, he saw Gary V and the buzz around NBA top shots, and he exposed himself to the NFT creators, and within a few months, he was able to understand the NFT space. (5:47) What Is An NFT NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token. However, Sean explains that he sees NFTs as a proof of ownership. Whether a video snippet or a static image, you can prove your ownership to everyone as long as it's documented on the blockchain. (10:43) NFTs And Utility The NFT space is continuing to evolve. What started out as static images and video snippets of cool art has now grown to a point where people ask what they get in return for buying an NFT. Sean talks about NFTs having a utility that allows them to reward their holders. For example, with his own NFT project, Chibi Dinos — there are in-person meetups, calls with NBA players, and they're also working on a game. So now, if an NFT project wants to be looked at as valuable, they need to think of creative ways to provide utility to their holders. (14:15) Minting NFTs Sean talks about why people buy NFTs — some people are flippers who buy NFTs looking to sell them and make a profit, while some buy into established projects for the community. Sean explains NFT minting, which means a person pays a fee to mint, so an NFT project launches, and that person gets a randomly assigned NFT. Doing this opens the possibility of getting assigned a really rare NFT that could go for a lot of money. Essentially, that person is taking a chance on the NFT launch, but they are also helping the project owners execute their plan for that project by supporting them. (17:43) Sean On Selling His Marketing Agency Sean had also founded a marketing agency known as NFT Gorilla that aimed to help and consult upcoming NFT Projects and Brands with their marketing. His marketing agency was recently acquired after just six months of its inception. InfiniteWorld was looking for someone to take over their Web3 marketing role and hired Sean as their VP of Web3 Marketing and Strategy. (19:19) Things To Know About Today's NFT Space Today the NFT space is evolving, and more people are hopping on the NFT wave. So Sean advised newcomers to be wary of the NFT projects they support. The most important thing to do is research the team behind the project. It's also essential to see if there are only flippers since they're in it to profit from their investments. Sean also mentions being cautious of celebrity NFTs, a lot of them are just cash grabs, so it's crucial to stay away from the hype because hype can and usually will die out. So be careful, do your research and look for projects that have established team members. You might be able to make some money but, more importantly, be exposed to a valuable community of people. In this conversation with Variant Fund's Li Jin, we discuss how Web3 can enable ownership to be distributed across the internet as seamlessly as the internet distributes communications. Trey serves as a Director of Client Partnerships at Vayner NFT. He focuses on educating his clients on the advantages of NFTs and the business impact Web3 space can have on their relationships with consumers. He leads his clients in all stages of their NFT journey, ensuring authentic entry to the space and building long-term strategic NFT programs. Prior to joining VaynerNFT, he worked as a team lead at an Artificial Intelligence consulting firm and spent 3 years helping build DraftKings marketing partnerships. Trey is focused on putting his clients in a position to take advantage of the next generation of the internet.Building impact in the Web3 space requires a ton of EQ and AQ and Gary Vaynerchuck and all his various businesses are the blueprint of making sure that the unattractive parts of Web 2 do not seep into the company culture or the client relationships. So it is imperative that the people he entrusts also carry this determination to build an empathetic Web3. You are tasked with all phases of a project with the client but the authentic entry and onboarding process really sets the tone for their experience. What parts of your history, be it upbringing, school or work experience prepared you most for this? I often speak on this show about road-maps and the rug pulls that are unsuccessful in meeting any part of the promises made. So what excited me about having this conversation with you specifically is that you are achieving this at the highest level in the NFT ecosystem with VaynerNFT. Part of your role at VaynerNFT is building long-term strategic programs. And with very high profile clients. I myself did this in my tenure in white glove hospitality and know how discerning this client can be. How do you navigate delivering on the vision of a client? And on a more granular level, how do you build out utility that not only serves the client but is attainable? Can you give an example or case study of a client either at your time at Draftkings or VaynerNFT that allowed you to break new ground to create something that you yourself didn't see at the start but turned into magic? The VaynerNFT model really creates an open forum for diversity and empathy. These are core tenants for my show. If I'm not representing that in the speakers and the content I create, then I'm not solving for the future. What do you see for the future in terms of trends and how you and VaynerNFT can possibly solve for the bigger picture? Are there any projects you are working on that you are especially excited about? Are there brands or areas of businesses that you are dreaming about creating NFT projects with?Identify your portfolio with NFT purchases. NFTs are rapidly evolving - and so is this space. HashLips is driving transformation and bridging gaps through accessibility, education, and empowerment. The name is an alias for his YouTube channel, and for his NFT Art Engine as well as an NFT collection. It is also an art movement. Dig a bit deeper, and you realize that HashLips is an advocate for blockchain technology advancement, too. Most especially, it is a community of like-minded adventurers.HashLips was born on YouTube in 2021. The channel already has over 2 million total video views. However, HashLips isn't merely a library of ‘how-to' videos. It's far more important. HashLips is known by the NFT community for making things accessible that simply weren't before, thus leading to the alias HashLips being spoken by people who have been enabled by the open-source nature of what Daniel does. HashLips now being an Idea and a concept for people to learn from, a community was formed.Art Engine.“It was written to facilitate the creation of NFTs and generate artworks,” said Daniel. “I wrote the program to be user-friendly. The audience loves to learn about NFTS, create NFTs, and learn how to code. So, this was a way for anyone to learn and generate their own NFT collections. The HashLips Art Engine is a way to generate a lot of images quickly and easily. It was created and made open-source.The Art Engine has now enabled the creation of more than 6,000 NFT collections to date – all from within the HashLips community. One of the most captivating aspects of the NFT space is that it's still evolving and highly fluid. What's HashLips' future? Advocating accessibility and inclusivity. As Daniel would say:“Just because you don't understand how this technology works, doesn't mean that you should be left behind.”What I learned about Daniel that isn't in his bio:He's been following his true north as an artist since childhood. He took inspiration from his father who was a classically trained jewelry artist.Daniel was surrounded by materials that were transformed into beauty and he witnessed the creative process as metal morphed into a ring. While looking for gallery representation, he received a mentor, and opportunity to travel to China. As a rite of passage, he left home and found himself in a job where he was introduced to java script. And he a big believer in vision boards and the power of positive thinking. All this said, Daniel, can you share your foray into crypto, token and NFTS at this point?Mentorship and studying in China, was this the impetus of teaching on YouTube? Can you describe The HashLips Art Engine? Are you teaching about blockchain technology and walking people through the process of creating an NFT?Why open-source?Roadmaps and utilities, let's talk about the guilt or need for these pieces of the process.New NFT collectionDoes math appear as art to you?Vision boards and mindsetHashlips websiteHashlips YouTubeHashlips on Twitter Holly Shannon's WebsiteZero To Podcast on AmazonHolly Shannon, LinkedinHolly Shannon, InstagramHolly Shannon, Clubhousehttps://youtu.be/PKCND4FqGLc#HashLips #accessibility #education #empowerment #development #nocode #onboarding #novice #opensource #artengine #SketchyApeBookClub #SABC #Sketchy Lab #nfts #nft #nftart #cryptocurrency #blockchain #metaverse #culturefactor #web3 #smartcontracts #bitcoin #nftartist #nftcollectors #eth #ethereum #youtubers #tiktok #instagram #reels #branding #bitcoin #web3 #smartcontracts #bitcoin #nftartist #nftcollectors #community #decentralizedeconomy

Is NFT.com the Next Big Thing? A year ago you may have gotten away with laughing at NFTs as silly little profile pictures of cartoon apes and penguins. But if you are still laughing, it's probably because you are laughing all the way to the bank. NFTs are still in the early adopter phase, but some companies are pushing towards mainstream adoption by bringing practical services to the masses. In this episode of this special sponsored crypto spotlight episode, we introduce you to NFT.com. With this service, NFT owners and industry enthusiasts will be able to have their own NFT gallery via a personal profile, that is in itself an NFT. Sound interesting? We're fascinated by it, so much so that this is a dual release on both Bad Crypto AND The Nifty Show. Regardless of where you are listening, we welcome you to the future and ask if NFT.com is the next big thing on episode #604 of The Bad Crypto Podcast.
