If you've been tracking macros for years and still don't trust yourself around food… this episode is for you! In this Boss Bitch Radio episode, I'm talking to the competitors, the ex-competitors, the MyFitnessPal queens, the women who live and die by their macro numbers. If you feel like the only way you can stay "on track" is by weighing every gram and logging every bite, we need to have a real conversation. I'm not here to bash macro tracking. It can be a powerful tool. I've used it for over a decade. I competed almost 20 times as an IFBB Pro. I know what it takes to get shredded. But I also know what it costs. If you're a competitor, former competitor, chronic dieter, or woman trying to heal your relationship with food after years of macro tracking, this episode will hit.
Is low-carb better than low-fat? Should you be eating 120 grams of protein a day? The internet says yes, but the science says it's not that simple. In this episode, Dr. Lisa Oldson digs into Dr. Kevin Hall's groundbreaking NIH research to explain why your macro ratio matters far less than you think. The real key to weight loss? The quality of the food on your plate; not the ratio of macros in it. Plus, Dr. Lisa shares why she's never counted her own macros, what to know if you're on a GLP-1 medication, and how to find your NBA, your next best action, without overhauling your entire life. Thanks for listening! Advanced skincare routines are more popular than ever, yet dryness, laxity, and visible aging still persist. The issue isn't effort or discipline. It's that skin aging is being treated as a surface-level problem instead of a cellular and structural one.We dive deeper into this in the latest Biohacking Beauty Podcast with Jess Kane. We also chat about how cell membrane health shapes visible aging, why omega fats are widely misunderstood, and how most “liposomal” supplements never reach the cell.Jessica Kane is the Co-Owner and Chief Marketing Officer of BodyBio, a third-generation wellness company specializing in cellular health. She works alongside healthcare practitioners and researchers to translate complex cell membrane and lipid science into practical, evidence-based solutions. What's Discussed:(06:17) Why advanced skincare and red light therapy still fail without cellular building blocks(07:37) How low-fat nutrition and missing lipids weaken skin structure over time(09:55) Cell membranes explained as the foundation of skin barrier, tone, and elasticity(10:46) How phospholipids act as the “cement” between skin cells and prevent laxity(13:15) Why the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio matters more than taking fish oil alone(15:57) Why most phosphatidylcholine on the market is not truly liposomal(18:28) How “liposomal” labeling works and why most supplements fail cellular delivery(36:01) Why vitamin C and glutathione don't impact collagen without proper absorptionFind more from Young Goose:Find our Elastin Protocol here: https://younggoose.com/pages/elastin-action-protocol-landingFind our Winter Protocol here: https://younggoose.com/pages/winter-protocolVAMPIRE EXOSOMES → Professional Exosome Serum for Regeneration and Post-Treatment Recovery: https://younggoose.com/products/vampire-exosomesUse code PODCAST10 to get 10% off your first purchase, and if you're a returning customer use the code PODCAST5 to get 5% off at https://younggoose.com/?utm_source=podcast&utm_medium=appleInstagram: http://instagram.com/young_goose_skincareFind more from Jess Kane: Website: https://bodybio.com/Instagram: https://instagram.com/jesskaneInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/bodybio/Tiktok: https://tiktok.com/@jesskaneb

HEALTH NERDS. Mensch, einfach erklärt. Ein ALL EARS ON YOU Original Podcast

Jahresstart. HEALTH NERDS. Mensch, einfach erklärt. Ein ALL EARS ON YOU Original Podcast.
Send us a textIn this episode, the boys present another of their popular Dynamite Conspiracies episodes, in which they ask if there is a "Sugar cover-up"?But what are your thoughts on this topic?Do you agree with Tony and Tayo on this?Or do you have other thoughts?Items used during the show:The "Sugar Cover-Up": In the 1960s, the sugar industry paid Harvard scientists (Project 226) to shift the blame for heart disease from sugar to saturated fat. This led to the "Low Fat" craze, where manufacturers removed fat from food but replaced it with massive amounts of sugar to make it taste good. The "Ancel Keys" Effect: Discuss the "Seven Countries Study." Keys famously cherry-picked data to prove fat was bad, conveniently leaving out countries (like France and West Germany) that ate lots of fat but had low heart disease. The "Profit" Motive: A cured diabetic buys no drugs. A managed diabetic is a customer for life. Is the push against "Keto" (which can reverse Type 2) actually about protecting pharmaceutical revenue?-https://diabetesjournals.org/care/article/34/Supplement_2/S132/28705/Hypoglycemia-and-Cardiovascular-Risks-https://news.un.org/en/story/2023/07/1138732Tune in and listen to the discussion. Here are some holiday healthy eating tips for people with diabetes — perfect for keeping the joy (and flavor!) in your celebrations without the sugar spikes Before the Feast Don't skip meals. Eat a balanced breakfast or snack before the party — this helps steady your blood sugar and curb overeating. Stay hydrated. Sometimes thirst can feel like hunger. Keep a glass of water handy. Bring a diabetes-friendly dish. That way, you'll know there's at least one option that fits your needs. At the Table Fill half your plate with veggies. Roasted Brussels sprouts, green beans, or salad add fiber and color. Prioritize protein. Turkey, chicken, or fish help balance blood sugar and keep you satisfied. Mind the carbs. Choose one or two favorite carb dishes (like stuffing or mashed potatoes), and enjoy modest portions. Watch the sauces and gravies. Many are high in sugar or fat — a drizzle is usually plenty. Dessert Time Go mini. A small serving or shared slice can hit the sweet spot without overdoing it. Try fruit-based desserts. Baked apples or berries with a dollop of whipped cream can be a tasty, lower-carb treat. Don't skip the celebration. Enjoy every bite mindfully — focus on flavor, not restriction. After the Feast Take a short walk. Even 10–15 minutes after eating can help lower blood sugar. Check your glucose. Monitoring helps you learn how different foods affect you. Give yourself grace. One meal won't make or break your progress — it's the overall pattern that matters.
For over fifty years, Americans have been told that cutting fat was the key to better health. Yet after decades of low-fat guidelines, rates of obesity, diabetes, and metabolic dysfunction have skyrocketed - now affecting more than 88% of the population. In this episode of The Metabolic Link, Victoria Field sits down with Dr. Nina Teicholz, science journalist and author of The Big Fat Surprise, whose decade-long investigation into nutrition science uncovered how flawed evidence and policy decisions shaped the way we eat. Her research reveals a troubling gap between the science and the guidelines meant to protect public health.Answered in this episode:How did you transition from investigative journalism into becoming one of the leading voices challenging nutrition policy? What specifically makes the original science behind the low-fat diet hypothesis so weak? How did Ancel Keys' controversial research become official U.S. nutrition policy? What were the metabolic consequences when Americans replaced dietary fat with carbohydrates? How did seed oils come to dominate the American food supply, and what are the metabolic implications? What do randomized controlled trials reveal about low-carb versus low-fat diets for metabolic health? How has industry funding influenced the direction of nutrition research and policy? This conversation provides a rigorous examination of how weak associational data became entrenched policy, the metabolic consequences of replacing saturated fats with refined carbohydrates and seed oils, and what the path forward looks like for evidence-based nutrition science.More of Dr. Teicholz:Unsettled Science on SubstackThe Nutrition CoalitionThe Big Fat SurpriseX.comInstagramFacebookLinkedInBig thanks to our sponsors:✅Genova Connect – Get 15% off any test kit with code METABOLICLINK here!✅ Fatty15 – Get 15% off a 90-day Starter Kit with code METABOLICLINK here.✅ ZocDoc - Find and instantly book a top-rated doctor here.✅Cowboy Colostrum - Get 25% off when you use code METABOLICLINK at checkout! In every episode of The Metabolic Link, we'll uncover the very latest research on metabolic health and therapy. Most people think heart disease is just about cholesterol. But what if the real issue is in your genes, your environment, and even your daily stress? In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Christopher Davis, a triple board-certified interventional cardiologist who's redefining what it means to take care of your heart. After years of performing stent procedures, he realized the conventional system was only treating symptoms, not causes. So he made a bold shift from reactive cardiology to a root-cause approach that blends advanced testing, functional medicine, detoxification, and even ancient healing wisdom. We discuss how genetics determine whether saturated fats help or harm you, why cholesterol itself isn't the enemy, and how inflammation and oxidative stress are the real threats to your arteries. If you've ever wondered why someone with perfect cholesterol can still have a heart attack, or why your stress levels matter just as much as your diet, this conversation will change how you think about cardiovascular health forever.Guest's website + socials:Website: https://revealvitality.com/christopher-davis/Instagram: @cjdavismdKayla's social + website:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kaylabarnes/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@femalelongevityTwitter: https://x.com/femalelongevity Website: https://www.kaylabarnes.com/Follow Her Female Protocol: https://www.protocol.kaylabarnes.com/Become a Member of Kayla's Female Longevity Membership: https://kayla-barnes-lentz.circle.so/checkout/become-a-member
The Plant Free MD with Dr Anthony Chaffee: A Carnivore Podcast
There is a weird trend now arguing that you should go low fat on a carnivore diet, because wild animals can be lean and therefore our ancestors would have only eaten lean meat on a carnivore diet. this is demonstrably false, and unsafe, for many reasons, as explained in this video. (My video "Is Ketosis Harmful?" https://youtu.be/nJyUQmRc1q8?si=r2IngkzpwxEqkCFv ) What we seem to see are people who may not be doing a full carnivore diet, just fatty meat and water, and will include quite a lot of dairy such as milk or cheese, yogurt etc I may even include artificial sweeteners, which absolutely will Elevate insulin the fat storage hormone. People do this and they tend to gain weight or can't lose the weight they want to lose, and they get convinced that this is because they are eating too much fat, even though eating high-fat carnivore actually improved their health, nutrition, society, and help with weight loss earlier on before they added in the dairy and the artificial sweeteners. Once they lower the fat, they start to get the majority of their calories from protein and can start getting very unwell from low-grade protein poisoning. this may lose some weight, as an early sign of protein poisoning is rapid weight loss, but this is unhealthy weight loss. Then they might think that this is just a fact of being in ketosis so they adding carbohydrates, and because they are now getting calories from something besides protein, the protein poisoning subsides, thus confirming their own bias. So by not doing carnivore and using artificial sweeteners and/or dairy people start to gain weight or not be able to lose as much weight as they want to, so they switch to low fat hoping that will help. Then they start feeling unwell, like we do to low-grade protein poisoning and likely malnutrition from a lack of fat soluble vitamins, and so they think that carnivore didn't work for them and they start adding back in other things like carbohydrates. Then they tell others that carnivore didn't work for them and maybe it doesn't work for others as well, but the problem is that they weren't doing carnivore in the first place. Carnivore is a complete absence of anything except meat and eggs, and for some people not even eggs. If you add in a lot of dairy and / or sweeteners you will not get the same results as others, and you will likely gain weight. Fat is an essential nutrient, and our ancestors absolutely prioritize the fat, and ate the fattiest animals that they could find. #carnivore #weightloss #nutrition If you liked this and want to learn more go to my new website www.DrAnthonyChaffee.com

If you're a regular listener of this podcast, you'll know that our cholesterol level is closely linked to heart health. With that in mind, it's easy to be drawn to foods labelled as ‘low fat', ‘reduced fat' or ‘fat free' - all of which promise to keep our cholesterol low and heart strong. However, is it really that simple? I'm joined by Professor Sarah Berry to break down the difference between good and bad cholesterol, bust some myths about low-fat foods, and explain how we can make smarter food choices that support our heart.

Send us a textIt seems as though the great ‘Paleo Boom' has come and gone! All the books, all the podcasts- where have they gone?I've been writing and podcasting for more than 10 years; I used to listen to Robb Wolf and The Paleo Solution, Jimmy Moore and Livin La Vida Low Carb, Mark Sisson and his Primal Podcast, and many others. Don't hear much from Robb Wolf anymore- Jimmy Moore is locked in prison for God's sake- and Primal goes on, and is just kind of Paleo with a different name…Now, the cutting edge seems to be focussed on Carnivore, with Sean Baker and others. But is this carnivore pivot really all that much different than Paleo or Primal? Not really. Those are all just words that encapsulate a certain set of ideas- that living in a more ancestral way, more in keeping with that of our forebears, is far healthier and more beneficial than the modern, pharmaceutical and processed foods-based version of the present day. In other words, simpler is better.Carnivore could easily be another word for Paleo. It's just another, more extreme way to practice the way our ancestors lived. It is certainly A way, and a very simple way to have a ‘restart' with your health, that is possibly really messed up in the present day.I mean, you could call your paleo type of diet ‘The Great Grandparents diet', or the ‘Post nuclear apocalypse Diet', and the results would be very similar. The idea is just to get away from the modern conventions and pronouncements of current ‘experts' and getting back to timeless sorts of recommendations from the past. Time-tested and proven methods of health and wellness that have stood the test of time- of millennia- and not just those ideas that are being pushed by Big Medicine and the modern trinity of Pharmaceuticals, Big Food, and the Government .You know: Moe, Larry and Curly. The EXPERTS!I'm being a bit facetious, but in light of Fauci and the Covid disaster, along with the Low Fat food recommendations of the past 60 to 70 years, and the endless recommendations of Vegetable Seed Oils in our diets, well, the “experts” aren't looking too expert really, are they? And let's not forget the Exercise recommendations- “run long distances to gain complete fitness and above all, heart health…”. More nonsense in place of simple strength training, walking, and stretching! Grounding barefoot by walking on the earth, rather than sprint-running to exhaustion in timed races on tracks with over-cushioned shoes.I'm sure you get the idea. The Paleo Diet and Lifestyle hasn't gone away, not at all. Maybe the erstwhile leaders have left the field, moving on to other endeavors. But the movement is intact, as strong as it was when it was being promoted by figures such as Weston A. Price, the dentist who noticed in the 1920's and 30's the wonderful health of pre-industrial people who ate their ancestral diets and moved in the manner in which they had evolved over long periods of time. All of the tenets of Paleo are intact, and correct. Eliminate most of ‘modern medicine', including most vaccines and pharmaceutical drugs, especially for our children. Go back to ancient leaders, like Hippocrates, who said in old Greek times to “Let thy medicine be thy food, and thy food be thy medicine”. This is timeless truth!Eat good, basic foods like meat and dairy. Fermented dairy is best, and raw dairy is better than processed! Likewise with grains- they are optional, but if made in accordance with established traditions, such as sourdough fermentation, they can Support the show

Odkazy:Web Petra Havlíčka - https://petrhavlicek.czKnihy Petra Havlíčka - https://www.databazeknih.cz/search?q=petr+havlíčekEffect of Low-Fat vs Low-Carbohydrate Diet on 12-Month Weight Loss in Overweight Adults and the Association With Genotype Pattern or Insulin Secretionhttps://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2673150Cohort profile: the Dutch famine birth cohort (DFBC)— a prospective birth cohort study in the Netherlandshttps://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7934722/?utm_source=chatgpt.comMinnesota Starvation Experimenthttps://www.apa.org/monitor/2013/10/hunger00:00 Jak správně jíst?19:47 Obezita, velký problém dnešní společnosti.30:50 Individuální přístup ke stravování.Support the show
For decades, dietary guidelines—and the Food Pyramid in particular—have been at the center of heated debates and considerable controversy. These guidelines have often been accused of being influenced by industry interests, oversimplifying nutritional nuance, or even directly contributing to rising obesity and metabolic disease rates. In this episode, we critically assess common claims surrounding the Food Pyramid, including whether it was truly shaped by vested industry interests, if it encouraged harmful dietary shifts toward excessive carbohydrate and sugar consumption, and whether the subsequent health outcomes seen at the population level can be fairly attributed to these guidelines. Additionally, we evaluate the role of the sugar industry in funding key studies and publications, examining the implications such conflicts of interest may have had on nutritional science. Drawing on historical context, rigorous examination of scientific evidence, and an evaluation of how nutritional recommendations have evolved, this discussion aims to clarify misunderstandings, highlight legitimate criticisms, and separate fact from persistent myths regarding dietary guidance and its implications for health. Food addiction isn't about willpower. It's about biology. This week's guest, Dr. David A. Kessler, pulls back the curtain on GLP-1 drugs, the medications everyone's talking about but few truly understand. As a former FDA Commissioner, bestselling author of Diet, Drugs, and Dopamine, and someone who has personally used Ozempic, Dr. David reveals what pharmaceutical companies aren't telling you about how they actually work.David shares his own journey with GLP-1 medications, the science behind why they're so effective, and the critical conversations we're not having about safety, proper use, and what happens when you stop taking them.Through science, candor, and vulnerability, he explains:Why food addiction is real, and how it rewires the reward circuits of the brainHow GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic are changing the conversation about obesity and self-blameWhy “just eat less” doesn't work… and never didHow visceral fat creates an invisible storm of inflammation, starting in childhoodAnd what it means to actually change your relationship with food for goodDr Kessler doesn't offer a magic solution. He offers tools: from nutritional rewiring to behavioral insight, from emotional honesty to policy change.Ultimately, he reminds us that health isn't about being perfect. It's about understanding what drives us, learning how to interrupt the cycle, and reclaiming agency in a world designed to overwhelm it.Real healing isn't about restriction. It's about relief. It's not about weight. It's about freedom.Love,Sarah Ann

See all the Healthcasts at https://www.biobalancehealth.com/healthcast-blog The newest miracle drug for weight loss is changing the lives of thousands of people who have battled obesity for extended periods of time….These GLP-1 medications are also treating or preventing the diseases that go with long term obesity: Diabetes, Heart Disease, Joint replacements, Arthritis, Sleep Apnea, and Alzheimer's Disease. Researchers are finding more indications every day for patients to take these weight loss medications. But like anything else there is no perfect answer to any problem. Among the few side effects of this drug, the most frequent side effect is reflux, also called acid indigestion, or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Often my patients don't even know what their diagnosis is, they just tell me about their symptoms. The symptoms of GERD include: Asthma symptoms A bad taste in the mouth Difficulty swallowing Dry, hacking, cough Chest pain after meals These symptoms are worse after a big meal, at bedtime, after spicy food, or dose related. Most of my patients don't want to discontinue the GLP-1 inhibitors because they are finally losing weight! We manage the GLP-1 side effect of GERD by decreasing dose of the medication and slowly increase the dose back to an effective level. We also offer lifestyle and dietary treatments before we offer prescription medication. Therefore, if reflux is not constant, and is not causing any lasting damage to the patient's esophagus, we can treat it with lifestyle changes and over the counter medication, to lower the stomach acid that is refluxing into the esophagus. The lifestyle changes patients can employ on their own are described below. Lifestyle changes needed to avoid or treat Gastric Reflux caused by GLP-1 agonists. What can you do to prevent and treat this side effect: Eat smaller meals: Large meals expand your stomach and put pressure on your lower esophageal sphincter (LES). Don't go to bed less than 2 hours after eating Avoid trigger foods see below Sleep on your left side Elevate the head of your bed Avoid tight clothing: Chew your food well– chew each bite for 20 seconds. Quit smoking: Smoking weakens your LES and makes your stomach more acidic. Stop drinking alcohol Chew (non-mint) sugar-free–gum In addition to changing your active lifestyle, changing your diet is necessary as well. There are trigger foods to avoid minimizing your reflux symptoms. tomato sauce and other tomato-based products high fat foods, such as fast food and greasy foods fried foods citrus fruit juices soda-diet and regular Caffeine Garlic onions mint of any kind milk based products My patients ask me, “So what can I eat?” …I admit I did take away some of the most exciting foods, however my patients ask me what they can eat so the list of foods that help avoid and treat GERD are listed below. High-fiber foods: vegetables, fruit, and whole grain bread. Alkaline foods. Foods fall somewhere along the pH scale (turns litmus paper blue). Drink alkalinized water (PH > 8) Ginger—fresh sushi Ginger from Asian food stores. Apple cider vinegar on salads and a Tablespoon in water every morning Lemon water—just squeeze a slice of lemon in your water. Coconut water Honey. Lean Protein including meat Low-Fat and Nonfat Dairy Products. Non-Citrus Fruits like apples, pears, bananas, and melons Vegetables like broccoli, Carrots, Corn, Cucumbers, Green Beans, Green peppers, Potatoes and Sweet potatoes For my patients who take herbal and other supplements, the following is a list of the supplements that may decrease your symptoms of GERD. Chamomile Tea Licorice Marshmallow Slippery Elm Tablets Probiotics-Mega Brand Prebiotics-Mega Digestive Enzymes Aloe Vera Juice Baking Soda Magnesium glycinate What happens when you have made all the lifestyle changes you can and have lowered your GLP-1 dose or changed to a different type of GLP-1 Agonist, and you still have GERD? As a physician I prescribe medications to help my patients treat their GERD, however most of the medications have been placed over the counter so I can recommend them to my patients, and they can buy the medication without a script. The class of medication that treats GERD include Antacids, H2 Blocker, and Proton Pump Inhibitor. Antacids neutralize stomach acid, but they typically only work for short periods. They are generally made of calcium. This type of medication is best used prn for symptom relief. Side effects of antacids may include constipation and diarrhea. The second option for treatment of GERD is an H2 blocker. These drugs reduce the amount of acid the stomach releases. Eg. Pepcid, Tagamet, Gaviscon. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs): These drugs are available by prescription from a healthcare provider, and now some doses are over the counter. PPIs help reduce the amount of acid the stomach makes. They should be used for a two-week period only for severe attacks and then you should change to an H2 blocker or antacid. WHY stop a PPI after 2 weeks? Omeprazole is an example of a PPI. Theses medication kill the good bacteria in your intestines, change your breath and can affect how you absorb your nutrients. If you must take them chronically to treat and prevent the progression of damage to the esophagus. What if I did everything and GERD is still a problem: If your condition is severe, your doctor may recommend a consultation with a GI doctor for an endoscope or other diagnostic procedure. In addition, you may have to hold your GLP-1 Agonist for a period of time while you treat your esophageal inflammation. Just as in all medical issues there are many ways to treat side effects of drugs. Your provider will prescribe the medication that she or he is most comfortable with. What next? So if you have reflux and are on a GLP-1 inhibitor, you may be advised to decrease your dose or switch to Tirzepatide medication (Mounjaro, Zepbound). There are many steps you can take before you need prescribed medication. Your doctor may even change your GLP-1 agonist prescription or refer you to a GI doctor, but before this is necessary you should try the lifestyle and dietary changes that I recommend in this Blog first. This side effect of GLP-1 agonists doesn't affect every patient and can be managed as you see above, however the lifestyle changes and dietary changes can only be done by you, so the ball is in your court!

How do we deal with misinformation from people in the bodybuilding world that are so well loved, admired, and followed? How do those of us in the fitness industry break through the noise and get the correct information to people who follow the advice of others blindly simply due to their status? Today I address a wildly popular video put out by a giant in the bodybuilding world and dispel the idea that low-fat diets are a good approach for fat-loss and daily living, especially for natural athletes. Dietary fats have an impact on testosterone and your overall hormonal balance. There are a bunch of “handshakes” along hormonal pathways that need to happen for optimal performance and health. I'll give you a thorough breakdown and examples of how this happens, for both males and females, as well as naturals and those on hormone replacement therapy.

Ordinarily, banana bread is exactly low in fat! But with no butter, only a little oil, unexpected ingredients like cocoa powder and raspberry preserves, and a lot of mashed bananas, this unusual rendition of an exceedingly popular quick bread is lower in fat than more traditional recipes. You need really ripe bananas for this. Choose the ones with the skins that are almost black-in other words, the ones waiting to be thrown out. They provide the flavor, which there is a lot of in this tender cake.A note about storing this cake. Because it is low in fat, it will dry out if stored for any length of time. If you need to hold it overnight, wrap it well in plastic wrap and keep it at room temperature.

In this moment, world renowned gut heath expert, Tim Spector discusses how to navigate the modern food landscape and overcome the brainwashing of the food industry. It turns out that answering the seemingly simple question of, ‘what is quality food?' is a lot more difficult that it first appears. Too often foods packaged as ‘healthy', ‘low calorie' or ‘low fat' are in fact the opposite. Instead, Tim believes we need to go back to eating foods in their simplest, unpackaged original form as nature intended.
