The Last Battle is rapidly approaching, and our Queens are here for the build-up. As they barrel towards a battle to end them all, the Queens become increasingly concerned about the constantly shortening length of Nynaeve's hair. They debate whether or not they can take the Dark One seriously and Queen Tay wishes a different verb was used to describe a specific scene with Rand and the Dark One. Perrin continues to irk them all and the Queens beg Mat to be better than his wife. And, of course, Queens Marissa and Tay finally find Demandred -- and they are not particularly pleased. Mistakes are made, battle plans are changed, and the Trollocs head towards the Fields of Merrilor. So, don't miss out as your Queens discuss Chapter 22 to the end of Chapter 36 of Book Fourteen of The Wheel of Time, A Memory of Light by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. The Queens finish this episode with a game called, "Sun, Moon, Rising: Character Edition." The Queens decide each other's Zodiac Signs, but if the Zodiac Signs were Randland characters. We follow up this game with the usual character rankings by Queens Marissa and Tay. And Queen Al gives her the easiest homework yet: reading one chapter.Content Warnings:Please take care of yourself. CW: Suicide, trauma, abandonment, sexual abuse, alcoholism, rape, slavery, self-harm, homophobia. What happens when privilege, trauma, and leadership intersect within the walls of a boarding school? We invite you to join our compelling conversation with Tom Greaves, Piers Cross, and Jonny Lovett, as they unravel their personal journeys through the labyrinthine world of boarding education. This episode challenges the notion of resilience, questioning whether the experiences of isolation, bullying, and the emotional voids left by early separation can be classified as trauma. We explore the ways these experiences shape leaders, with figures like Boris Johnson and Donald Trump as potential case studies shaped by their past. The emotional landscape of boarding school life is vast and complex, leaving indelible marks on personal relationships and emotional development. Our guests recount stories of betrayal, isolation, and the struggle to express emotions while reconciling privilege with vulnerability. These narratives illuminate a cycle of trauma that transcends generations, with familial bonds often strained by the experiences of being sent away. As we discuss the broader societal implications, we examine how ingrained behaviors from such privileged backgrounds can hinder authenticity and connection in adulthood.Throughout our discussion, we address the psychological impacts of boarding school, including the strategic survival personalities cultivated within these institutions. The conversation delves into class disdain and the societal disconnects perpetuated by such education systems. With anecdotes from public figures like Richard Branson and Bear Grylls, we shed light on the long-lasting effects of these formative years. As our guests share their paths to healing, we emphasize the importance of addressing these deeply rooted issues for both personal and societal transformation, highlighting ongoing projects aimed at fostering understanding and change. One of our panelists touches on themes of homophobia. Whilst this was not explicitly explored or condemned, the TaSC network and all those involved in the podcast do not support homophobic views or beliefs of any kind. You can find out more about our chair and panelists here:Connect with Ester on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ester-wheeler-458a55167?originalSubdomain=ukJonny's private practice website: https://springtidescotland.com/The trailer for Piers' upcoming documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stMvUcsZzlMFollow Tom to keep up to date with his upcoming show about male friendships: https://www.instagram.com/tdrgreaves/?hl=enResources mentioned in the episode (books unless otherwise stated):Judith Herman, Trauma and RecoveryNick Duffell, The Making of Them & Boarding School Survivor WorkshopsSuzanne Zeedyk, The Connected Baby - 2011 DocumentaryRichard beard, Sad Little MenIf… – 1968 FilmJennifer Freyd, Betrayal Trauma: Logic of Forgetting Childhood Abuse: The Logic of Forgetting Childhood AbuseJoy Schaverien, Boarding school: the trauma of the ‘privileged' childRichard Branson, Losing My VirginityBear Grylls, Mud, Sweat and TearsJohn Peel, Margrave of the MarshesDavid Niven, The Moon's A BalloonMad, Bad and Dangerous to KnowRanulph Fiennes, Mad, Bad and Dangerous to KnowFight Club – 1999 FilmDavid Cameron, For the RecordThis Podcast is sponsored by Onlinevents

Repress that gay demon and avert the aversion therapy because we're discussing Ganymede (2024), a queer thriller that we quite liked! When a small town wrestling star develops a crush on an openly gay classmate, all Hell breaks loose when he begins seeing visions of a demonic ganymede. Featuring affecting lead performances from Pablo Castelblanco and Jordan Doww and over-the-top performances from David Koechner and Robin Lively (Teen Witch), Ganymede is a bit all over the place, but we think the pros outweigh the cons. (CW: Suicide, abuse)A common question in our community is “when is the right time to tell the truth about parentage?” While some say there is never a good time to tell, many believe that the truth should be shared from birth. In this week's episode, Miranda's story highlights the importance of telling early - and often. Miranda's mother never hid the truth about her paternity, but she still recalls the shock of hearing it explicitly stated when she was a young child. She shares how her curiosity about her biological father led her to take a DNA test, which created connections with newfound family members. Miranda's story is filled with challenges - and love. Despite the abuse, rejection, and profound loss she has experienced, she maintains compassion for everyone involved. Thank you for sharing your story, Miranda. Paranoia Agent lives up to its name in “MHz,” when Maniwa begins questioning his own perception of reality. While the detective sinks into obsession with analog radios, the hosts talk about mental illness, social isolation, and parallels to ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers.' Yes, there's ‘mega-hurts' puns. Then, it's time for the most infamous episode of the show, the controversial and often-censored “Happy Family Planning.” If you know one thing about Paranoia Agent, it's probably this jet-black comedy about a suicide pact, and its notorious bungee-cable scene. Ian and Joseph speak candidly about their mixed reactions to this tremendously upsetting episode. It's an inescapable piece of Satoshi Kon's legacy and the most singular episode of Paranoia Agent, but does it misrepresent or overshadow the rest of the series? Answers and more questions await in the episode. CW: Suicide, Self-harm Summary: 00:00 Analysis: 07:11

Today in the Diner is my man, Joshua Rivedal – he's an amazing storyteller who is full of compassion and wisdom, and he's got a wit that won't quit. He gave me so much to think about regarding how we as a society are approaching suicide prevention, and what we can do as individuals to be there for others. He has some dope insights on vulnerability, being a force for others, and how to live a life full of grace. We discussed some powerful topics like suicide and abuse. We also may or may not have burst into a song and dance number while sharing our love for musical theater, so you've got that to look forward to as well. CW: Suicide, Emotional & Physical Abuse About the Guest: Joshua Rivedal is the creator and founder of Changing Minds: A Mental Health Based Curriculum and The i'Mpossible Project. In 10+ years, he has spoken about suicide prevention and mental health to 400+ organizations across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Australia. Joshua is also a standup comic, a professional actor, an author of 8 books, lives in Philadelphia, loves to cook, and recently grew a pretty mediocre-looking mustache. Here's a somewhat stuffy bio of me: I am an author, professional speaker, coach, host, and entrepreneur. My first book, Leading Imperfectly: The value of being authentic for leaders, professionals, and human beings, is available wherever people buy books. I speak internationally to willing and unwilling attendees about authenticity, vulnerability, and leadership. My clients include American Express, General Electric (GE), Accenture, Yale University, The Ohio State University, and many others. As a speaker, I am doing the two things I loves the most: making people think and making people laugh! I host my own events multiple times a year. They are 2-day events called Living Imperfectly Live (and sometimes they are 1-day virtual events). They are a space where humans from every walk of life can come together to be part of a community on the pursuit of badassery. The goal is to help attendees start living the life we say we want to live. Alas, you're here because of an idea I had a number of years ago and didn't think I was good enough to pull it off. I finally acted on it and alas Diner Talks with James was born! As you can see from what I do in my professional life, Diner Talks is alligned with everything I believe in and teach.
