Greg Pogue with special guests, New Head Coach of TSU hockey team Duante' Abercrombie along with AAD Nick Guerriero. Talking the upcoming season.
In episode #277, we had the pleasure of being joined by Duante' Abercrombie, who will be leading Tennessee State University as Head Coach in their inaugural season as a Div. 1 hockey program next season. In the process, TSU will become the first HBCU(Historically Black College or University) hockey program in history. A glance at Abercrombie's resume leaves no doubt that he is the right person to lead the Tigers. That includes his time as an Assistant Coach with Stevenson University, becoming just the fourth coach of colour at that time in the NCAA. Professionally, he spent the 2022-23 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs organizations and has also been a part of several NHL BIPOC programs, spending time with the San Jose Sharks, Boston Bruins, Nashville Predators and Arizona Coyotes. Last year, he was nominated for Willie O'Ree Community Hero Award for his work with the Washington Capitals' Black Hockey Committee and the Rising Stars Academy. Listen as he shares what the new role at TSU means to him, how hockey can be used to connect people of all backgrounds, and the importance of wanting someone else to win more than you do.
In the first episode of the season, Tara speaks to Duante' Abercrombie, Head Coach of the TSU Men's Hockey Team - the first ever HBCU to launch a hockey program.

Julie.

Things are a bit more complicated once Bonnie discovers who Duante told the ending to the second season of Special Cases. His drunk & loud friend, Naveen. And the exclusive reporters have found her while she tries to convince Naveen to say nothing. Could this get any worse?
Bonnie's efforts to fix her screw up are complicated because Duante told someone the ending to the second season of Special Cases. Hiding the fact that she broke her NDA is going to take a lot more work from Bonnie. And she still has to apologize to Wesley to save her career.
While Bonnie is waiting for Duante to reply to her text about breaking her NDA, she is called into Leslie, her manager's, office for an important meeting. Does Leslie know what she's done? Can she fix it before it affects her career?

This week we chat with fresh young author Upasa Borah about their book Thick and Thin, their fan fiction, and about how they came to be a writer and a poet. They are so talented at only 21 years old, we truly think they are going to do great things. The audio quality is a bit subpar this episode but we promise it will be worth it.(book summary)In Raumah, a city where wealth and familial ties rule all, the four Kings walk a path seemingly paved in gold. Duante, the protector. Strong, amiable and desperate to keep his loved ones out of harm's way. Drayden, the golden boy. Smart and resourceful, heir to the country's largest and most influential business empire. Shohei, the celebrity. Delicate but determined, this fabulous fashion icon is the darling of Raumah. Aqil, the prodigy. Truly gifted and academically dominant, but is it earned or is it his family ties that are the key to his successes?Everything on the surface seems picture perfect, but dark secrets lie hidden behind the frame. When Duante's past comes calling, the Kings' world is thrown into chaos.Faced with the ghosts of his bloody past, Duante's hard-earned freedom is put in jeopardy, just as Shohei's love is put to the test. Drayden's ruthless determination is usually his strength, but this time, will it blind him to what's right? Can Aqil, the trailblazing son of the Faiz family, face his fears, before the fire burns him alive?Facing their fears is no easy task, will they bow under the pressure or come out stronger than ever?Cherry Publishing

Once Again, we have to talk about vicarious Trauma as we have experienced Traumatic events all over again. I feel sad and angry that is where I am mentally. Where are you mentally? Daunte Wright Murdered by a police officer. She mistaken her gun from her Taser. That's the excuse this time. This is some real modern-Day Lynching. I cant take it no more as I am preparing this episode I just felt a another feeling that feeling is fear. I have a 16-year-old son who wants to live a free life and once again I have to call him because he is in North Carolina. I had to tell him to be viligent I have to tell him to be careful. Once again I have to tell him about the dangers of the very humans that is supposed to protect him. I have to tell him that he has to look out for them obey them put his hands up at all times don't grab anything .Those whom I am speaking about is the POLICE . Yes, be careful son they will kill you. You're a threat. You are a threat even if you don't do anything wrong. The reason you are threat to them is because You are Black. You are 6 foot 4 . That's why you are a threat. Whoosa GOD I am scared please protect my child Please protect our children, please protect our melonated people. I am now saying that I am not calling the police no more even when a crime is being commited because they may kill the person, I am now saying I going to call the fire department in the event of an emergency. We never heard of the fire men to harm anyone. This is sad we should never be scared to call the police because they were hired to protect and serve not kill melonated people. I know so many are traumatized and retraumatized because of the events happening around the world. We have lost so many by the hands of the police just to name a few Tamir Rice, Amud Aubrey George Floyd Brianna Taylor, Eric Gardner Sandra Bland Sean bell . OMG but this one reminds of Philando Castile . that's where that vicarious trauma come in. We can think of one old incident and relate it to a current incident and that current incidents Dante Wright. This week's episode is dedicated to the healing of our people. This episode is dedicated to all those whom lost their lives at the hands of the police. This Episode is dedicated to Daunte and the entire wright family and Adam Toledo family as he was the 13 year old shot in Chicago 13 omg what is this world coming to. We all experience traumatic events in our lives from time to time. Trauma has no boundaries as it affects us all regardless of age, race, or gender. Trauma impacts not only an individual's physical health, but also takes a toll on a person's mental health too. Because not all traumatic experiences are the same, there are different treatment strategies that can be used to treat individuals. It's important to know the difference between acute trauma, chronic trauma complex trauma. This week I want us to dive into to the different types of trauma. I want us to learn exactly why type of trauma we endured during our traumatic event. I can tell you at this time we are experiencing vicarious trauma when police continue to kill children unjustifiably it falls under Complex Trauma Disclaimer: This podcast is for educational purposes only. Oddly enough, the officer who shot Duante Wright was immediately outed; well, almost immediately. Her name, time on the force, and address were released to the BLM mob. Oddly enough, Ashli Babbitt's murderer still hasn't been outed, doxxed, or even charged. The Biden DOJ has decided that it won't be charging the person in this case. Say his name: Daunte Wright. Now let's pause. This rampant killing and incarceration of black men in Minnesota must stop. The civil unrest is only a grieving response that at times take the form of destruction to release the scars of systemic racism that is very deeply rooted in Minnesota. But there's this persistent strong denial of its existence by those in position to create change, because you refused to hear our cries and screams. Well, I have something to say. And my city is sad and my city is sad those with the badge add to the death toll. Now that's just mad. I said to my city, it's sad. Those with a badge add to the death toll. Now that's just mad. They policing the poor so they don't get ahead. You have to serve and protect. There's no good for the dead. Streets turned memorials and tears over hot lead, but it's more than tragedy from concrete rosebeds. Here, [inaudible] took flight, city wept everyday light, brutal as a bulls fight, senseless beasts ignite. I said that my city is sad, those with the badge add to the death toll. Now that's just mad. I said that my city is sad. Those with badge and to the death toll. Now that's just mad. There's no answer for the youth that bled or even the fathers in courts that pled. [inaudible] jail got us living on edge. There's no justice, no peace, there only pain instead. And my city is sad. Those with the badge add to the death toll. Now that's just mad. So how did murder become art? Because we all Duante Wright, George Floyd, Eric Garner, Brianna Taylor, Laquan Franklin, Ahmaud Arbery, Alton Sterling, Trayvon Martin, Jamar Clark, Philando Castile, Sandra Bland, Tamir Rice, and Mike Brown, like [inaudible] faces on the murals found. I can't breathe, screaming in nightmares, hands up, don't shoot! Another future is gone. Who's holding the goal when justice goes wrong? I said that my city is sad. Those with the badge add to the death toll. Now that's just mad. Get a taste for my city, life off a bit on sweet, statue by a spoon with a cherry that no one can ever eat. Fresh cherry red torn off of spoon at a dorm, death on t-shirts warm, leaving love wants to mourn. Can we live and breathe? Let our babies teethe. Can we live and breathe? Let our babies teethe. I said that my city is sad. Those with the badge add to the death toll. Now that's just mad. These commentaries are recorded by Prison Radio.
