Andrew Klavan returns to the Ricochet Podcast for a special Good Friday/Easter episode! He, Rob and Peter cover everything from antisemitism—the devil's flagpole, as Drew calls it—and what it really means to believe that Christ is King; on to poetics, popular fiction, political persuasiveness and the right's shortcomings as conveyors of truth. Plus, Peter and Rob give a tribute to the last centrist Democrat Joe Lieberman; and consider the power of container ships, both as objects and as economic game changers, after one knocked out a bridge in Rob's city of origin.- Audio this week: Emergency Dispatch recording in Baltimore Harbor

We felt this conversation was so important and ahead of it's time, we didn't want you to miss it. This information is pertinent to what we may be facing in the very near future. Enjoy this rebroadcast of Episode 299 with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. RFK is campaigning for the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election. Learn more at https://www.kennedy24.com. – – Robert F. Kennedy Jr. needs no introduction, but you might not know just how much he is doing to improve the world. He serves as President of Waterkeeper Alliance and the Founder, Chairman of the Board, and Chief Legal Counsel for Children's Health Defense. He was named one of Time magazine's Heroes for the Planet for his success helping Riverkeeper lead the fight to restore the Hudson. And on top of that, he was instrumental in the landmark victory against Monsanto in 2018, as well as in the DuPont Case that inspired the movie "Dark Waters.”  It's really meaningful getting the chance to talk to one of the activists who I most admire, someone who is standing up against huge corporations and corruption to protect regular people and the environment, and he's someone we really need to hear from during the current health crisis. I know this is a confusing and distressing time for a lot of people who are just trying to keep their families safe from both any possible diseases and the damaging effects of government overreach, but this episode only deals in cold hard facts. 09:45 — Why Kennedy Jr. was motivated to make a career out of legally protecting the environment, especially water, and people from corruption and negligence Growing up in the water every day Working with a group of fisherman whose livelihoods were being destroyed by pollution How a law from the 1800s that had never been enforced helped create Riverkeeper and protect American waterways 18:15 — Why he supports vacc!ne awareness and safety testing How long Kennedy Jr. has been censored online The relationship between mercury and vacc!nes Being forced to confront the difference between what regulatory agencies and pharmaceutical agencies said about safety and what the peer-reviewed science said about safety What happened when Kennedy Jr. started asking questions Getting the runaround about “good mercury” What changed in 1989 Autism Hiding science from the American people His first experience with censorship Social media's draconian censorship How the search engines are rigged Bias in the fact checking 49:40 — The shocking breakdown of Big Pharma's vacc!ne revenue and corruption Weaponizing the “anti-vaxxer” label “You cannot make a vacc!ne safely:” Big Pharma's admission that led to legislation protecting them An explosion of chronic diseases The absurd surge in Big Pharma profits Hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths 01:12:55 — Why Kennedy Jr's vacc!ne work with President Trump fizzled out When Kennedy Jr. was called to meet with the Trump admin How Big Pharma put an end to the initiative Good science will kill the industry “I've been fighting for 40 years to get mercury out of fish — nobody calls me anti-fish.” 01:26:05 — If flu vacc!nes are not effective, how could a COV!D-19 vacc!ne possibly be? The system for dispatching emergency services is itself in need of help. The Portland Bureau of Emergency Communications has been struggling for many years to get its hold times down. It has hired more dispatchers, and is now using a system of automatic call backs to numbers that hang up. It’s also implemented as an automated answering system for non-emergency calls. Given the challenges, it might come as a surprise to learn that the award for best dispatcher in North America is Portland’s own Stephen Zipprich. He joins us to talk about the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch award, his experience over the last decade of this work and what keeps him going.

Recently, Alberta Health Services announced ambulance dispatch services will be consolidated across the province, pulling Calgary, Lethbridge, Red Deer and Wood Buffalo into existing EMS dispatch centres. Lethbridge Fire Department (LFD) has been providing Ambulance/EMS services to citizens since 1912, and have always been the dispatch service as well. They are currently under contract to AHS EMS to provide the EMS service as well as the Dispatch service. The Dispatch service provides coverage not only to the City of Lethbridge, but many other EMS services in the area. LFD has several concerns with Alberta Health Service Emergency Medical Services decision to remove local EMS dispatch from Lethbridge and move it to Calgary. They feel this will create delays in dispatching of Fire units that also provide Advanced Life Support to our citizens. They also have concerns that AHS EMS provided dispatch will eliminate the City EMS units, leaving the service short of units. As well, a lack of familiarity with this area will arguable create additional delays. The speaker will elaborate and explain how crucial quick response times are when trying to save lives. Southern Alberta Council on Public Affairs (SACPA)
Is Lethbridge likely to experience response time delays if Emergency Dispatch is centralized in Calgary?

Speaker: Warren Nelson Warren Nelson is the President of the International Association of Fire Fighters' Local 237, Lethbridge. He has been with the Lethbridge Fire Department for 22 years and involved with their Union since 2001. From Uber to call centre: why Flare decided on the human touch for emergency dispatch in Kenya

In this catch-up episode, I chat with Caitlin who runs Flare.Caitlin and I first spoke in late 2016, and you can listen to the original interview by scrolling down to the episode named Ambulances. The premise then was that Flare would become a technology platform to connect people with ambulances much in the way that Uber has developed the model of hailing a driver through their app.Whilst the vision of providing world-class emergency dispatch services remains unchanged, the company has developed more of a human touch. As Caitlin and I discuss, a core offering they now have is a 24/7 dispatch hotline where trained medical professionals consult with callers before dispatching them to the appropriate provider. We also talk about other things that have come from running the business over the past three years. How they've been cautious to not scale too quickly, how large corporates are signing up to the Rescue.co service, and their considerations for international expansion. The interview takes place in the garden of the Flare house (you may notice a number of companies such as Lynk and SunCulture operate from residential homes) and so there may be some background noise, not least from Koko - the office dog who comes over halfway through.READ MORE AT:https://theeastafricabusinesspodcast.com/2019/11/07/from-uber-to-call-centre-why-flare-decided-on-the-human-touch-for-emergency-dispatch-in-kenya

"Imagine listening...your worst day is my everyday." Not only is this the reality of a 9-1-1 or emergency dispatcher, but it is also the theme of a project former 9-1-1 dispatcher and public safety advocate Ricardo Martinez dedicates his life to. Ricardo is the father of the #IAM911 movement and helps dispatchers tell their stories through his podcast, "Within the Trenches." Ricardo is using his podcast to help dispatchers heal from trauma and also educates the public about the reality of 9-1-1. We are honored and excited to kick off National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week chatting with Ricardo about his podcast, the #IAM911 movement, as well as the effort to reclassify public safety dispatchers into a "protective" occupation called the #911SAVES act. This episode is brought to you by Dispatch In Depth--a new podcast for emergency dispatchers. If you like Within The Trenches, you’re gonna want to check it out. Dispatch In Depth takes you deep into the why and how of emergency dispatching. It's produced by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch and hosted by Isabel Gardett, the Director of Academics at IAED. Each episode features an interview with experts in the field including researchers, dispatchers, responders and public safety officials—who talk about the work they’re doing to make emergency dispatching as safe and effective as possible. I’ve listened to each episode and they are educational and entertaining. Would you believe that levels of evidence for example on CPR protocols can be decided on with the help of animal studies? Pig studies led to the new compressions only that showed better outcomes in pigs. These studies can be compared to humans but, I don’t want to give away anymore. It’s something you have to listen to. The episode is Cardiac Arrested Development, just one of many great episodes of Dispatch In Depth available on iTunes, Stitcher Radio and Soundcloud.   Halloween. It’s probably my favorite time of the year. I love to be scared. The horror genre is my favorite. According to the free encyclopedia, Halloween, also known as All Hallows’ Eve is a celebration observed in a number of countries on the 31st of October. It begins the 3 day observance of Allhallowwide, the time of the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints, martyrs, and all the faithful departed.    Others see it as a time for carving pumpkins with scary faces, trick or treating, goblins, ghost stories and haunted houses. During my time in dispatch I took all kinds of horrific calls from listening to someone as they took their last breath to someone finding a loved one hung in their home. They stick with me and will forever be embedded in my memory but two calls fall under the unusual and well...paranormal.    This is Within the Trenches Ep 156...   Please check out the links below and as always if you have any comments, questions, or you would like to be a guest on the show send an email to wttpodcast@gmail.com.   Dispatch in Depth Podcast - iTunes | Soundcloud | Stitcher Radio   Halloween description - Wikipedia    Al Capone research citation - HAUNTED MICHIGAN: Al Capone & the Ghosts of Allegan County’s ‘Yellow Motel’ The Final Insanity of Al Capone: Was Notorious Gangster Haunted by a Hapless Victim?
