A leading presenter on Fox News expressed surprise upon receiving news from the network reporter that U.S. President Joe Biden hadn't yet made contact with the families of three U.S. servicemen killed in Syria in the past week. On Saturday evening, a hostile drone, seemingly on a suicide mission, crashed into a base in Jordan, causing the deaths of three servicemen, and injuring an additional 25 personnel. The assault has been laid at the feet of Iranian-sponsored militant groups in Syria and Iraq by the White House, signifying a substantial uptick in tensions in the Middle East. Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich reported the alarming fact that the president hadn't communicated with the mourning families of Sgt. William Rivers, Specialist Kennedy Sanders, and Specialist Breonna Moffett, increasing the shock factor for the host, Harris Faulkner. 'Harris, we're also monitoring for any news that the president has bridged communication with the families of these tragic casualties, or any intend of his presence at their dignified transfer at Dover. There were no indications from the White House on these critical matters yesterday,' Heinrich disclosed to Faulkner.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode of The Bald Brad Show, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby on Monday said the Biden administration has not reached a consensus on the origins of COVID-19 despite an assessment from the U.S. Energy Department (DOE) that the virus likely originated from an accidental lab leak in China. Is there a White House Cover-Up? The comments came in response to Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich, who asked Kirby how Americans should understand China's assertion that the DOE's assessment was politically motivated and lacked merit. Previously undecided on the origin of the pandemic, the DOE now joins the FBI's stance that COVID-19 likely spread due to a mishap at a Chinese laboratory, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, citing a classified intelligence report recently provided to the White House and key members of Congress. Reporters pressed Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning about the report on Monday. Mao dismissed the report, citing the much-criticized WHO-China investigation into the virus' origins.

In this episode of The Bald Brad Show, John Kirby and the White House questioned about flying objects. The Biden administration said it's navigating "unchartered territory" after being pressed for an explanation on three unidentified flying objects (UFOs) shot down by the U.S. Air Force since Friday. During Monday's White House press briefing, John Kirby, President Biden's National Security Council coordinator for strategic communications, told Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich it was unclear if there were any releasable images of the three downed UFOs. He added that he couldn't say what the standard would be going forward on handling further incursions into U.S. airspace, and was unsure if it was indeed "strange" that no country had yet to claim responsibility for the UFOs. "I don't know what kind of imagery might exist, and they'd be wanting to talk about whether they're releasable or not," Kirby said, referencing possible photos of the UFOs the Department of Defense might have. "Obviously, certainly with respect to the spy balloon, we want to make sure that we are gleaning what we can from this imagery so that we can answer your questions better."

According to The New York Times, the classified documents “were discovered hours after a White House statement on Thursday morning that cited only one" page had been “discovered the night before in a storage area adjacent to the garage.” 3:20pm- While appearing on MSNBC, former Congressman David Jolly argued that President Joe Biden should be praised for his handling of classified documents—arguing that after discovering the documents, Biden did exactly what he was supposed to do by contacting the proper authorities.  3:45pm- Speaking with Jonathan Karl on ABC's This Week, Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) endorsed Attorney General Merrick Garland's decision to appoint a special counsel to investigate Joe Biden's mishandling of classified documents. Schiff said he couldn't “exclude the possibility” that there was a national security risk to Biden's actions.  3:50pm- Chairman of the House Oversight Committee James Comer (R-TN) questioned why the discovery of the Biden documents wasn't announced immediately after they were discovered on November 2nd—speculating that it likely had to do with the impact the news could have had on the highly consequential November 8th midterm elections.  3:55pm- Why was Hunter Biden paying Joe Biden $50,000 a month for rent at the Wilmington home where classified documents were discovered? The meeting's primary concerns: environmentalism and climate change. But how many conference participants will be arriving in private jets? The White House Counsel's Office announced the discovery on Thursday, saying it had initiated a search of Biden's homes in Rehoboth Beach and Wilmington after news of the first stash broke this week and found documents in the Wilmington home's garage. Fox News presses Biden over classified docs in garage: 'What were you thinking?'- Play Video White House lawyers say they immediately contacted the DOJ when they discovered the documents this week. There has been no indication of what the documents contain or whether Biden or anyone else read them after he left office as vice president. The Wilmington documents are the second stash of Obama-era classified documents to be uncovered. The first collection was found at the Washington office of the Penn Biden Center, a Biden-aligned think tank. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/washington-secrets/more-americans-id-as-republicans-than-democrats More Americans identify as Republicans than Democrats For the first time in decades, more people identify as Republicans than Democrats, a striking change that bolsters polls showing that the United States is a moderate-conservative nation. In the latest massive Gallup survey of 10,000 adults, 45% identified as Republicans and 44% as Democrats. That’s a tiny edge for sure, but it’s the first time the GOP has had the lead since former President George H.W. Bush launched the Gulf War in 1991. Gallup said: “A virtual tie in party identification and leaning represents one of the better outcomes for the Republican Party over the past three decades.” However, when the choice of independents is thrown in, more U.S. adults picked that label. “Since 2009, independent identification has grown and reached levels not seen before. Now, political independents (41%) greatly outnumber Republican (28%) and Democratic (28%) identifiers,” said Gallup on Thursday. In a related survey, the polling giant also said that America politically is a moderate-conservative nation. When asked to describe their political views, 47% of adults said moderate, 30% conservative, and 21% liberal. That survey also revealed that the Democrats are more liberal than ever. “After hovering near 50% in recent years, the percentage of Democrats who identify as politically liberal rose four percentage points in 2022 to 54%, a new high for this group,” said Gallup. https://www.based-politics.com/2023/01/11/these-5-states-lost-the-most-population-in-2022/ These 5 states lost the most population in 2022 Another year is in the books, which means there’s another year of data to analyze, too. And the Tax Foundation just published an interesting analysis shedding light on which states gained the most population in 2022—and which ones saw residents leave in droves. The analysis examined the time period between July 2021 and July 2022 and found overall US population growth was at 0.4%, but some states’ populations shrank while others grew. As it turns out, the state that gained the most population was Florida, which saw 1.9% population growth. Other states that gained 1% population include Idaho, South Carolina, Texas, South Dakota, Montana, Delaware, Arizona, North Carolina, Utah, Tennessee, Georgia, and Nevada. Meanwhile, the 5 states that lost the most population were: New York (-0.9%) Illinois (-0.8%) Louisiana (-0.8%) West Virginia (-0.6%) Hawaii (-0.5%) Noticing any trends yet? Generally speaking, the states losing population are blue states with high taxes and heavily restricted economies. On the other hand, the booming states, like Florida, South Carolina, and Texas, are red states with lower tax burdens and less-regulated economies. That’s just speculation, but it’s borne out in the data. “People move for many reasons,” the Tax Foundation explains. “Sometimes taxes are expressly part of the calculation. Often, they play an indirect role (by contributing to a broadly favorable economic environment). And other times, of course, they don’t factor in at all. The Census data and these industry studies cannot tell us exactly why each person moved, but there is no denying a very strong correlation between low-tax, low-cost states and population growth.” It really is becoming so glaring that even New York Governor Kathy Hochul recently admitted their state needs to address its population drain—months after telling Republicans to “get out.” As twitter user Jim Stinson tweeted: If you tell people to leave, they will. If you over-regulate them and overtax them, they will leave faster. https://www.dailywire.com/news/out-of-left-field-uscs-school-of-social-work-bans-the-word-field-because-its-racist-apparently USC’s School Of Social Work Bans The Word ‘Field’ Because It’s Racist, Apparently Have you ever aspired to be the best in your field? Did you ever refer to doing a job outside of the office as “field work?” Well, if you answered yes to any of those questions, then you may unwittingly be promoting racism and bigotry — according to the University of Southern California School of Social Work. It seems wokeness knows no bounds — which is entirely the point of those who promote it. They have no limit in their zeal to assert power and are willing to coerce you into following along with their plan. On January 9, the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work sent an email to faculty, staff, and students notifying them that the department has new speech code guidelines in order to ensure “inclusive language and practice.” “Specifically, we have decided to remove the term ‘field,’ from our curriculum and practice and replace it with ‘practicum,'” the letter explained. What is so egregious about the word “field”? Well, according to the brainiacs out on the West Coast, it is offensive to black and immigrants everywhere. “Language can be powerful, and phrases such as ‘going into the field’ or ‘fieldwork’ may have connotations for descendants of slavery and immigrant workers that are not benign,” according to the letter. If a word isn’t “benign” that would mean it is malignant. Per the letter sent around, the word “field” is so malevolent that merely using it promotes “white supremacy, anti-immigrant and anti-blackness ideologies.” So, the school is beginning to put its words into action by banning the term altogether. In doing so, of course, they are unwittingly revealing their own racism by implying that only black people and immigrants work in “fields.” It doesn’t need to be said, but of course, every civilization on earth has had “fields” in one form or another and somebody who worked there. https://humanevents.com/2023/01/11/italian-mp-giorgia-meloni-mimics-desantis-sends-migrants-to-left-run-cities?utm_campaign=64487 Italian PM Giorgia Meloni Pulls a DeSantis, Sends Migrants to Left-Run Cities The government of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is facing a fierce backlash from their left-wing detractors after directing NGO ships carrying illegal migrants to ports in cities governed by pro-migration mayors, a move immediately compared to a policy ordered by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, As part of a recent security decree, authorities are now redirecting vessels that pick up migrants in the Mediterranean to ports located farther away from the search and rescue area, frequently opting for cities governed by leftist mayors. the decree has been met with opposition from the left-leaning Democratic Party and the mayors of the affected cities, both of whom argue the measures are excessive and go against the supposed advantages of mass illegal migration. However, these concerns were rubbished by Wand Ferro, the undersecretary at Italy’s Interior Ministry, who said: “The left protests because NGO ships are finally disembarking in other regions of central Italy and no longer only in the South. Evidently, on the left, they would like to transform Calabria and Sicily into the refugee camp of Europe, a completely unacceptable prospect.” Ferro stated that the asylum centers in southern Italy have faced persistent strain for years and that the government's action to alleviate that pressure amount to a necessary response. She also dismissed the criticisms from NGOs who operate the migrant transport ships, pointing out that it is not unusual for these ships to keep refugees at sea for extended periods while waiting to pick up more migrants, adding that these ships have a tendency to take migrants to European ports instead of closer ports located in North Africa. “Perhaps the left suffers from a sort of NIMBY [not in my backyard] syndrome, preaching welcome as long as it is away from their backyard,” Ferro continued. However, NGOs who help facilitate these routes of illegal migration complained in a joint statement that the policy is hindering their efforts to save stranded migrants. “Among other rules, the Italian government requires civilian rescue ships to head to Italy after each rescue immediately," the statement reads. "This delays further lifesaving operations, as ships usually carry out multiple rescues over the course of several days." The policy of the Meloni conservative government, which came to power in last October's general election, immediately drew comparisons to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who last year sent illegal migrants to the wealthy, heavily liberal island enclave of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. The move sparked outrage from wealthy residents, with local authorities opting to activate the National Guard in order to have the individuals quickly removed. Another batch of documents has been found at Joe Biden's home in Wilmington, Delaware. FOX News has more:   President Biden was dragged on Twitter Thursday for suggesting that a second batch of classified documents discovered in his home were securely locked in his garage alongside his Corvette.  Biden sparred with Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy over the location of the files. "Classified documents next to your Corvette? What were you thinking?" Doocy asked in a now-viral exchange with the president.  "I'm going to get the chance to speak on all of this, God willing it'll be soon, but I said earlier this week — and by the way my Corvette is in a locked garage. It's not like it's sitting out in the street," Biden responded.  Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed a Special Counsel to investigate the Biden document scandal.  Also, Faith Focus Friday See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

There are many things to be said in regards to Brexit, Trump's rise to power, Putin's push against NATO and Rupert Murdoch's unwillingness to give it fair coverage of these events at his best, and at his worst an all out promotion of all of them. In this episode, we look at the history of Rupert Murdoch and his life in the news business, as well as his well know scandals, personal ambition, as well as his provision of shade over the operations of Putin and Trump on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. What draws these characters together can seem to be speculative at times, but so much of it is easily found in newspapers and television shows, not to mention documentaries, that it makes it hard to really call it conspiratorial.  This episode also covers the ascension of Vladimir Putin, his penchant for criminal behavior, his hatred of democratic values and the countries who support it. One of Putin's long term desires is to reunite the Soviet Union, and what stands in his way is liberal democracy, NATO as well as trade agreements between the EU, US, UK and Western allies.  What lengths do those in power go to stay in power? What length would Putin go? Why does Murdoch promote his agenda, either on purpose or accident, in both the US and UK? We'll take a look in this episode and hope you find it interesting. ReferencesBryan, J. (Director). (2018). Active Measures [Motion Picture].Chotiner, I. (2019, Mar 20). The Atlantic. The Media Diet (part 3)Have you ever met someone who just made bad arguments and could not carefully or accurately define what their position was on any given topic? Perhaps their reactions were knee-jerk, explosive or just ill-informed. What if that same person was given a platform where in they broadcasted into millions of American's living rooms each night? Dialog and understanding comes from gaining perspective on nuance and allowing a deeper understanding of any given topic. This episode looks at An Illustrated Book of Bad Arguments by Ali Almossawi and we discuss a handful of the bad arguments made by partisan media companies. We also look at the history of the Fairness Doctrine, a deregulated staple of broadcast media, and how conservative media outlets traditionally viewed it. We also look at claims of bias in the media, typically from the political right, and outline what drives these claims and what the history surrounding the accusations stem from. When you hear claims that a paper, or program, or reporter you enjoy is accused of being "liberal", what does that claim stand upon. How can we test the fairness of the person making that claim? Or the fairness of the news they consume?  We all have a family member, friend or acquaintance hooked on a partisan news organization. Perhaps it's time we ask them to consider consuming something more neutral. Please share our podcast with the family/friend who you feel could benefit from being a bit more objective.  ReferencesAd Fontes Media. (2018). Meida Bias Chart. The Media Diet (part 2) If one wants to see into the bottom of what bad news and disinformation look like, one need only to look at the Nazi Party. This episode will continue to look at the media diet and the positive effects it can have. We also discuss what we call the Nazi power tool and how it is used to divide an audience. Using this power tool does not make one a Nazi, but rather provides them with the same tool for splitting the room and creating fear. We also look at the use of fear, hatred and anger as a means of coercing and motivating segments of groups and society. Countering these narratives can be difficult, and we look at what scholars have found is the most effective tool to stand up to emotional influence, political sophistication. We also look at where these tools are being used in modern American media, what it sounds like, and what the true intent is behind using them. As stated, using one of these tools does not make one a Nazi, but it will have a dramatic affect on your audience, and the bigger the microphone, the bigger the affect. Lastly we look at the algorithm used by one of America's favorite 24 hour news networks to create brand loyalty and buy-in. This has been one of our favorite topics and we will continue to look at media and its affects for just a bit longer.   ReferencesAd Fontes Media. The Media Diet (part 1) Why do people argue over whose news organization is more reliable? Has it always been that way? Why did early broadcasters try and be as neutral as possible, and why are media sources online deliberately partisan today? Is it helping? It's absolutely critical that democracies have news organizations that present fact based reporting in an easily digestible ways in order to inform and instruct the public so that they may make informed and accurate decisions. Calls of bias and tilted media have been around for a long time, but what tools can be used to determine what is good media vs. bad media? It can be confusing to be online and see multiple sources reporting the same story in various different methods. It can cause people to become upset, angry, frustrated and ultimately it can cause people to simply shut it off. Perhaps this isn't the proper solution. Perhaps what the country needs is to go on a media diet. To shave off a few pounds of partisan fat and go for the nutrition they've been missing out on. This podcast examines a method devised to assist in examining media bias, and the importance of fact based reporting. It also looks at one of the most effective marketing gimmicks in partisan media and how it has an effect of creating brand preference within various viewer's perception of the news organizations they most prefer. We look at the most trusted organizations as well as least insightful. It also discusses a good litmus test for determining what news can be avoided, as well as the messenger effect. Please join us on the media diet and pass this along to that friend or family member, work colleague or acquaintance who you know to be hooked on partisan media.    ReferencesAd Fontes Media. “Everything is broken,” laments Vox correspondent Carlos Maza on this week’s pod. Maza has reason to feel jaded: He’s spent hours—days, even—watching Fox News pundits feed on-air talking points straight to the Oval Office, where President Donald Trump gleefully parrots the network’s daily affirmations without a second thought. In this episode, Maza discusses the cozy relationship between Fox News and the Trump White House, and breaks down the growing media trend of appealing to our inherently tribal impulses.

Jane Mayer from the New Yorker wrote a blistering profile of the Trump White House and its obsession with Fox News. Trump is in daily communications with the hosts on the network and actually allows the narrative on Fox to dictate how he runs the White House. This isn't state-run media. It's a media-run state. Hillary Clinton officially rules out running for President in 2020. Good! Now Democrats can focus on all of the wonderful candidates already in the race. Guest host Peter Ogburn talks to Andrew Resuccia from Politico, Vann Newkirk II from The Atlantic and Travis Waldron from HuffPost!
