If you have no idea what “Twitch” is, you're probably over 40. In your case, the closest analog might be those 1–900 party lines you saw advertised on late-night TV in the 1990s—but a bit less sleazy and in app form. The Clubhouse app is the new new thing, and it's got many people hooked. The app is the latest example of a habit-forming product taking the world by storm. In Episode 60, Billy Donnelly explores the idea of Has-Beens and Never-Wases and tries to process his reality as one of the latter. He talks about the sadness he feels in constantly trying to measure up and have his moment, only for it to feel like he is constantly making his situation worse. He discusses his understanding of the Has-Been's plight, as they are being forced to leave behind a life they don't want to leave, but he dives further into the frustration of never having your shot at the title, of never being able to attempt proving yourself in the moment. As he seeks answers and a better understanding, he may just walk away with more questions that he entered with. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Continuing our trek off the beaten Dawn of X trail... we're stopping to take a look at the issue of Fantastic Four (vol.6) where it was revealed that Franklin Richard is NOT... and never HAS BEEN a mutant. I'm sure it'll be handled quite gracefully... and not feel like a last-minute attempt to "solve a problem". I'll also share with you my life and times as a fan of the Fantastic Four... it's not that thrilling a story, but you'll get it anyway! All that and great mailbag to boot! Today it is pretty obvious to about everyone that there are "devil worshippers" trying to dictate how the planet should be ran.. The issue is, THEY HAVE NO AUTHORITY TO TELL ANYONE WHAT TO DO! Why? Well simple, God gave this earth to Man, and John 16:11 declares that the prince of this world HAS BEEN judged. The bible also says in Revelation ch 5 that Jesus purchased people by his blood to make them Kings that reign on earth. This earth is ours in Christ and its time we take possession of our inheritance. Learn more @ https://kbl.social/courses/the-kingdom-university/

Episode 132 -YO SOY MOVEMENT?! 'Predator 5' Was Supposed to Be a Surprise and Has Been in the Works for Years, Says Director. Five Nights at Freddy's creator teases upcoming movies as filming is confirmed to start next year. Wonder Woman 1984 will be released on HBO Max the same day it’s in theaters for no extra cost - For places like Aus where we can get to the cinema we can watch it, HBO max will show it for places like USA where they cant go to the cinema but have access to HBO MAX. Black Panther 2 is reportedly in production. Deadpool 3' is likely to become the first R-rated movie in the MCU. Channing Tatum Teams with Phil Lord & Chris Miller for Universal Monster Movie. Netflix Says The Queen's Gambit Is Its Most-Watched Limited Series Ever. Physical copies of 'Cyberpunk 2077' have been leaked. 'Cyberpunk 2077' will have a streamer mode to avoid DMCA strikes. PS5 gamers receive cat food instead of consoles. IO Interactive making 007 origin video game. Chaos Walking’ - Kicking off trailer park this week… we have a weird one! Tom Holland returns to I assume the big screen in this Lionsgate Production about a dystopian world whereas strange as it sounds, there are no women. But on top of that, if that wasn’t strange enough for you, how about this world full of only men, they can hear AND see each other’s thoughts. Yeah… I’m sure there are a lot of frustrated minds without women. But anyway, one day a spaceship of sorts crashes and a lone survivor, a woman arrives. And the men freak out because A: Vagina and B: they cannot see or hear her thoughts. So now Tom Holland must protect her from the evil Jonas brother before they, I assume rape her or something? Let’s find out in February 2021! ‘One Night In Miami’ - Our second trailer this week combines the forces of the civil rights movement in America with the power of Amazon Prime to bring us yet another autobiographical film about 4 men who made a difference. Now every trailer park there is a film about civil rights, or black rights and Dylan and I know we are not that demographic. But every now and then one of those films stands out and draws us in. Well, I can’t speak for Dylan but this one has drawn me in! One Night in Miami tells the story of four of the most powerful black men in the US meeting up for one night to discuss the ever-changing landscape of American History and Black Power. Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Jim Brown, and Sam Cooke all get together and reason as to why they can make a change. Seems fascinating to me! Coming to Amazon on January 15! ‘Pieces of a Woman’ - Hello Netflix original film and helllloooo Shia LaBeouf! Shia and Lead actress Vanessa Kirby head this Netflix exclusive film about a woman who wants to give birth to their baby at home, with the assistance of a midwife. After the baby tragically does not survive, the story follows the two of them as they struggle to grieve and move on in a life they were not prepared for. This story seems so incredibly hard-hitting and may very well be uncomfortable to watch at times but boy does it seem like a wild ride. Heading to Netflix on the 7th of January 2021. ‘Tom and Jerry’ - THEY ARE BACK Ladies and JellyBeans!! It is the modern-day return of two absolute legends of the animation world and better yet, coming to a live-action and yet still completely animated film! That’s right, Tom and Jerry are back, in the modern world and yet still look exactly the same. I absolutely love this! I grew up watching these two at my grandmother's house and holy shit I could not be more excited to see what they get up to! And as I said, the best part is, they look exactly the same. Bravo Hollywood for not ruining this! An absolutely stacked cast works around the feline and rodent and I could not be more excited to check this one out in March 2021! ‘Breach’ (aka Anti-Life)- Jesus where to begin with this one? We have the legend of straight to DVD himself Bruce Willis getting amongst the over told story of sci-fi action terror and slinging awful one-liners aboard a huge spacecraft heading for ‘New Earth’! As the citizens of the earth take a six-month voyage to a new earth, there is a terrible alien or something that is turning crew members and survivors into mindless zombie-like creatures! Oh Lordy, what’re they going to do about this? Seems like they’re in a bit of a pickle here! Can Brucey save them? Let’s find out together come December! ‘YASSS OR PASSS’ November 26th - (Glendale, Kotara & Tuggerah) Let Him Go Misbehavior Happiest Season Possessor @2c3pod Aussie Pop Culture Podcast ~ 2 Episodes every Wednesday and Friday + YOUTUBE bonus content. 10.8.20 - 2020 Has Been a Year of Uncertainty. What's Next?
This week we’re taking a breath. After the murder of George Floyd and ensuing justified protests…and military intervention in said protests – we couldn’t let the moment pass without saying something. We’re 2 white guys in middle America. We are literally the definition of white privilege. So, we’re not going to pretend to understand what its like to walk around black in this country. But, that doesn’t mean we don’t empathize and see the need for radical reform. The inhumane police brutality perpetuated on the black people of this country has to stop. Names like Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Philando Castile, Breonna Taylor, Justin Howell, Jamel Floyd, and countless others are etched into the shameful footnotes of the history of this country and we have to be better. We know there has been looting. And, we know not all cops are bad. But people need to stop using these arguments as if they negate the REALNESS of what is happening and HAS BEEN happening for literally hundreds of years to the black community of this country. It’s a false equivalency.BLACK LIVES MATTER. It can’t be said enough. So, instead of a new episode this week we’re releasing an episode we’re proud of that raises up one of history’s black heroes. And while we’ll continue to try and do a better job of elevating black stories of a fortean nature. Its up to all of us to take steps in our own community. Vote, Speak Out, Donate, Protest. Most importantly, STAND UP when you see racism happening. Stay Woke, Meatsacks!Original DescriptionImagine this for a potential movie: Guy is born into slavery. Escapes his bonds by stealing the ship he’s a slave on and delivering it to the Union (it’s the Civil War). He goes onto captain the very boat he was a slave on, buy the house he was slave in, and eventually be elected to Congress. And that isn’t even half the story. While it isn’t a movie, it is the story of Robert Smalls and it’s so incredible we cover it this week. Plus, Joe Peck somehow figures out how to make an appearance without actually being on the show, C-Bot gets a kill-switch, and Lincoln joins the show (the President…not John’s son). All of that and more on the podcast never captained a ship, but we imagine it would be less Robert Smalls and more Gilbert and Sullivan – Hysteria 51..
Table of Contents 01:29 How Do You Compete Against Large Networks? 06:44 25 People Vs 1 09:42 Two Things That Kill Podcasts 11:52 Buying an Audience 15:32 Life Without the School of Podcasting 17:01 So How Do You Compete? 19:24 Jet Ski vs Cruise Ship 21:53 Downloads are only ONE way of measuring Success 24:28 Free Webinar 2/26 25:01 Golden Mic Announcement 34:23 Where I Will Be 34:45 Question of the Month I hear this question a lot: How am I supposed to compete? It'll be something like I've been podcasting for three years. There are these other podcasters who I'm pretty sure are buying their audience. They're spouting their numbers, and they're gigantic. How am I supposed to compete with somebody like that? I totally understand that question. Here are some things to consider: You Can't Compete Because its a good visual. How would a seventeen-year-old boxer compete against the champion who has held the title for six years? You don't put that kid in the ring. He's going to get killed. The experience, the stamina, he just isn't ready. He is completely out of his league. But I've Been Podcasting For Three Years But Dave, I've been podcasting for three years. You say that in some cases, you know people who are really starting to make a difference with their podcast at three years mark. To this I say"Uh-huh," but here are some things that we need to think about. We never know what's going on behind the scenes with a podcast. You might have a job (or two) and a spouse and some kids. The other podcast may not have any of those. Can you imagine how much free time you would have to promote if you didn't have any other activities and could focus on your podcast 100% of the time? So if you look at podcasters from the outside, there's a person with a podcast here, and another podcaster over there and you think they are the same and they are not. We have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. They might have a background in selling and your background is in teaching. Radiolab thanked 25 people at the end of their show. I am an army of one. Can I compete? In 2015ish I was up for a Podcast Movement Podcast Award and one of the shows in my category was Reply All. I was competing against them. I've also had my Logical Weight Loss podcast compete against Jillian Michaels. Can we compete? Yes. The minute you turn on the microphone you are competing. Some of the things these teams of 25 use you don't need (original music?). While great production is like icing on a cupcake, if its all icing (and no cupcake) that doesn't work (see serial season two). The Two Things That Kill a Podcast BABIES Babies are so selfish. It's all about them. All they scream is feed me, wipe my butt, I want a nap. That can really get on your nerves (kidding). COMPARTING YOUR PODCAST TO OTHERS When you say "how do I compete" at the hear you are comparing your show to others, and that can seriously do nasty things to your content. If you ever feel yourself comparing yourself - STOP. STOP COMPARING YOUR SHOW TO OTHERS. You need three things to create good content: Your attitude Your health The support of those around you (see this episode for a deep dive into this subject). There is no competition I am a co-host on the Podcasters Roundtable with Daniel J. Lewis and Ray Ortega. Technically both of these people are my "competition" but they are not. Why? Because you can listen to me on Monday, Daniel on Tuesday, and Ray on Wednesday. As long as you deliver value, you're safe and don't have to worry. You Can't Buy An Audience You can buy an opportunity for people to hear your show, but you can't pay them to listen. Your podcast needs to provide value so they will come back because they want more. Holly Barey is beautiful. In 2004 they put her in a Catwoman suit, spent a million dollars to my $82 million (a loss of 18 million). On Rotten Tomatoes the movie has a ranking of 9 out of 100 with 197 people voting. In 2009 Disney worked on a movie called John Carter based on a popular book. According to Wikipedia is the most expensive movie ever created. It was a super popular book. It's kind of a sci-fi fantasy thing. It had a young, hot actor from Friday Night Lights, which was a very popular TV show here in the States. Yeah, they lost $200 million on that movie You cannot buy an audience. And upon the release, it received a mixed critical reception. In other words, it wasn't any good. There are great visuals. It had a great soundtrack. It had great action sequences. But the biggest criticism was toward the characterization and this thing called the plot that movies have, and you kind of need a good plot, you need a story. It's the content. It's delivering value. And apparently, this movie did not deliver value because it lost them $200 million. And I remember seeing all the ads for this movie, that all the promotion. Before You Start Spending Money to Grow Your Podcast I see a lot of people who say, "I'm not getting enough downloads and they turned to Facebook ads or advertising an overcast or Spotify or Castro (all podcast listening apps). They are trying to get the word out about their show. You can buy eyeballs/earholes but you can't buy an audience because an audience is someone who comes back for more. Do What Your Big Networks Can't Answer every email (in my travels big shows don't do this) Get your audience on the phone. In the book Superfans (and in the Colin Morgan Interview on Podcast Juinkes) Pat Flynn and Colin Morgan talk about reaching out to random members of their audience via the phone (you can get a free Google Voice number, or Podcast Voicemail to mask your real phone number). How do you provide great content? You know who your audience is. How do you know what they want? You talk to them. You are a Jetski, they are a cruise ship. You can change your content in record time. They can't. You are much more flexible. They are not. You need to identify your weaknesses and your strengths. You also need to identify your "competition's" strengths and weaknesses and don't try to cover the same area whey they will unquestionably squash you. Go to where they are. In some cases, if a show is so big they can't go out in public. You can, and while you're there you can get feedback on how to make your show better. Be sure to poll your audience. This can be as simple as "what do you like about the show, what do you wish I would do differently?" If you want to ask, "How did you learn about the podcast" so you can do more of that. There is More Than One Way To Measure Success Keep in mind there are more ways to measure success than downloads. These includes: Is your show successful (are you achieving your "why?" Comments on your website Email responses Social marketing interactions Business metrics (new customers) The Right Podcast Equipment Webinar On February 26th there is a free online webinar at www.schoolofpodcasting.com/webinar where we will go over podcast equipment and the best option for you. If buying the right equipment has been a hurdle for you this will help you get over the hurdle. See www.schoolofpodcasting.com/webinar Life Without the School of Podcasting Today I helped someone who randomly contacted me on Facebook. They hadn't purchased enough storage space for their show. They were exporting their files in the wrong format. They didn't know how to export in the proper format. They were using the wrong format for artwork. Podcasting can be fun and fulfilling when you don't have to band your head against a wall to release a simple episode. At the School of Podcasting, we show you in videos how to export your show in the proper format. We show you how to order the right plan for your podcast so your media host matches your strategy. We help you podcast frustrating free. Join today at www.schoolofpodcasting.com/start The New Academy of Podcasting Let's start off with the positive. Wondery, a company with 82 employees and revenues (according to growjo.com) of around 15 million per year organized a new "Academy of Podcasters" and will launch a Golden Mic awards in 2021. Per their website, "The Academy is professionally run by an Executive Director and an Account Manager. These roles are overseen by a volunteer Board of Governors who set the strategic vision and goals of the organization. 17 Founding Members will establish the organization and guide its initial creation with a goal of 1) moving The Golden Mics into a key recognition position and 2) encouraging growth and networking of the Academy and the industry. Members are individuals in the podcast industry who are part of one of the Academy’s Peer Groups; each Peer Group will vote on its respective categories for The Golden Mics." So it's great that big companies with big budgets are going to be promoting podcasting. This is a good thing. Someone Needs to Learn How to Google The companies listed above need to learn how to do some Google searches. When you come in with a "We've arrived" mentality, you can easily offend those who have already been here working in the trenches. I mean who do you think you are the pilgrims? The larger media companies keep saying things that seem to just ignore history. For example, an article that came out THIS WEEK stated that " Born in the halls of public radio, podcasting has emerged as one of the fastest-growing businesses in media over the past few years." Podcasting was NOT born in the halls of public radio. It was born in a hotel room where Dave Winer and Adam Curry met. In the past, I've just let them roll off m back, but I remember someone from one of these companies who stated there weren't any women podcasters in the early years (completely erasing people like Mignon Fogerty and Murr Raferty. Who can forget Steve Jobs referring to podcasting as "Amateur Hour." So when I approached Hernan Lopez the founder and CEO of Wondery that there HAS BEEN a “completely peer-based, not for profit, fully representative" awards show and I had won such an award he apologized. I'm Not Saying Get Off My Lawn Lopez was at an educational conference stating a lack of education. I'm not saying get off my lawn. I'm saying Marc Maron didn't invent podcasting (nor did Serial) and if you want me to greet you with open arms, it would be much easier if you would stop kicking me in the balls. To the best of my knowledge, the Adamy of podcasters which controls the Hall of Fame is still in existence. It hasn't had a ceremony since 2018 due to a lack of sponsorship. This is sad. While some may feel this is just a bunch of friends slapping each other on the back, if you do some research that it's not just old white guys but women and people of color (granted the majority of the recipients is middle-aged white guys because when podcasting first started THOSE WERE THE PEOPLE WHO WERE PODCASTING. So I look forward to seeing the spotlight the new academy will point at podcasting, and just ask them to quite saying things that make use feel invisible or worse, erase the past. Look at what didn’t work and see if you can see why it didn’t work. Do you need to: STOP doing something? Start doing something? Did you take action? Did you make a plan, then break it down into smaller parts and actually do something towards your goals each day, each week and then monthly and quarterly? Only you know the answers to these questions. How To Get Your Business Ready for 2020. Listen to Small Business Talk Episode 48 for the full episode.
Many of us sometimes feel confused with verb tenses. We feel unsure on how to apply it in various situations, especially, in conversation. They sound pretty much alike, with only a letter or two in difference, but each of these verb tenses has a different meaning. So it's really important that you know their differences and you know when and how to correctly use them. Today's Verbs: Today we will focus on these three verb combinations: have been has been had been Are you ready? Let's start learning! Using "Has Been" and "Have Been" Both "Has Been" and "Have Been" are under the present perfect tense. They are both used to talk about something that happened in the past, but is either still going on until the present day, or is still true until today. The difference between the two is that "Has Been" is for singular subjects like She, He, It. While "Have Been" is used for plural subjects like they and we. Let me give you some examples: "I have been to Paris and Italy." - This happened in the past but is still a true fact until today. "She's been an English teacher for over 20 years." - This means she started teaching 20 years ago and is still teaching until this day. "We have been part of this team for so long." - The team started in the past and is still together until present. "Chess has always been my favorite board game." - Chess is the singular subject. The speaker started playing chess in the past and continues to play chess today. "Has Been and "Have Been" can also be used as present perfect continuous tense. Similar to present perfect, the action started in the past, and the main difference of this tense is that the action is ongoing in the present day. Example: "I have been going to the same hairstylist since I was a teenager." - Meaning the speaker went to this hairstylist when she was younger and she continues this habit until today. "They have been arguing about that since this morning." - This sentence talks about people who have started their argument in the morning and has continued to argue at the moment. Using "Had Been" "Had Been" can also be used under two verb tenses. The first one is under the past perfect tense. This means that the action happened in the past or before a specific time in the past. For example: "Mary had been a top athlete in her school before her injury." "The two boys had been best friends until they fought over a girl. For the second of the 2 verb tenses it can be used under, "Had Been" can also be used as a past perfect continuous tense. It talks about a continuous action in the past, before another past action occurred. "I had been cleaning the house when I saw the big rat." "Charm had been reading her favorite book when she heard the loud noise from across the street." "The family had been laughing over a funny story when the phone rang." As a summary, remember that “have been” is paired with plural pronouns such as “we, they, you ...” And singular pronouns, “he, she, it” when we use “has been.” "Had been" can be used for both singular and plural subjects but they are used to talk about past actions which happened or which was continuously happening before another past action occurred. Starting today and running through October 30th, She’s in the City is hosting a series called More Precious Than Gold – because all of us are just that! The series will encourage women of all ages on endurance in various seasons of depletion and disappointment and was inspired from the following passage in 1 Peter: “In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith – more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire – may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” -1 Peter 1:6-7 Each week’s episode will focus on a different season of trial or weariness we face as women. Which begs the question: what if this week’s season doesn’t apply to me? My encouragement is LISTEN ANYWAY! If you haven’t yet experienced something, it’s likely a loved one or dear SHE around you has. We hope in those cases, our talks in the coming weeks can foster compassion in you and serve as a comfort to share with those in your life who are facing these specific seasons. My new favorite motto, which is noted in this week’s episode, is this: “WE’D RATHER BE WITH YOU IN YOUR MESS THAN ALONE IN OURS.” I hope y’all feel the same! As we round out our series this October, we would be wildly remiss not to speak on endurance in battling breast cancer. With 1/8 women being diagnosed in their lifetime, the daunting diagnosis plagues more than any of us would like to admit. This week we welcome a remarkable young women who was diagnosed less than 1 year ago, just 2 days before her 31st birthday. Like most young women, she hadn’t yet had a mammogram and, even more to science’s surprise, had no genetic history breast cancer. After a whirlwind of tests and biopsies, Chynna was presented with the two fatally charged words – cancer and chemo. With it nearly impossible not to rush to the worst-case scenario at the sound of this devastating diagnosis, Chynna claims what so many in her shoes have expressed – the mercy of God’s gift of adrenaline and shock. “EVERYTHING IMMEDIATELY FALLS OUT OF FOCUS. AND I GO HOME. AND I CAN’T EVEN BELIEVE IT’S TRUE.” Even more than the idea of having cancer, the threat of losing much of what makes her a woman rattled her to her core. Because losing your hair and your breasts – that’s like losing part of your femininity. “It’s the worst part. It’s the [ultimate] symbol to the world that you’re sick.” At the young age 30 she even had to endure immediate rounds of IVF in order to have any hope of having a family in the future. Chynna shares with us about the various, unique types and stages of breast cancer, including a newly discovered “triple negative” cancer which is showing up almost exclusively in women under 40. We talk about the all-consuming nature of battling cancer – from lab appointments to doctor’s appointments to chemo (which Chynna did in 4 rounds, every 21 days) to follow ups to get your cell count taken. It is a depleting and relentless cycle, often one without much of a definitive end in sight. Having discovered, fought, and beaten cancer all within the last 11 months, Chynna shares some of the practical and spiritual ways she endured in this debilitating season: Stay busy, when you feel up to it. Do “normal” things that you love to do because most of the time, “you just feel so different.” Community!! Both of intimate friends and family who can be the rock you need and also with women who have already battled cancer to come alongside you in what otherwise feels overwhelmingly isolating. Be selective about your crew! “When you put it out there that you have cancer, your entire life becomes about cancer.” Prayer and meditation. Daily gratitude practices; perception can play a big role in how you experience your reality. She recounts the greatest gift of this year to be a spiritual reawakening to her relationship with the Lord and a realignment of her priorities. Even in reflecting on the most hopeless days, she clings to the countless ways that this year has made her better. “AS HORRIBLE AS 2019 HAS BEEN, I THINK CANCER MAY HAVE BEEN GOD’S WAY OF WAKING ME UP AND SAYING, ‘HEY, REMEMBER ME?’”

Tonight on The Critical Hour with Dr. Leon, he discusses the DOJ report where no bias was found. The report also faulted former AG Loretta Lynch for creating confusion for saying she wouldn't recuse herself from the investigation when she failed to recognize how bad it looked when she met with Bill Clinton. Scheduled Guests:Mark Schmueli - attorney for immigration law. He represents clients with complex family petitions, including VAWA applications and litigates before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and federal Circuit Courts. They discuss how Attorney General Jeff Sessions overturned the precedent deciding that victims of domestic abuse and gang violence generally will not qualify for asylum under federal law. As a matter of policy, the US government is separating families who seek asylum in the US by crossing the border illegally. The U.S. Has Been in the Business of Breaking Up Families For Years - ICE under Obama averaged 309,887 arrests per year from 2009-2012, while ICE under Trump averaged 139,553 in 2017.Walter Smolerek - Producer Loud and Clear Dr. Leon and Walter discuss the Canadians boycott of US products, cancel vacations to America. Shoppers are shunning Kentucky bourbon, California wine and Florida oranges, and avoiding American companies like Starbucks, Walmart and McDonald's, Canadian network CTV News reported on Wednesday. Since Canada is the most important market for US goods, importing a total of US $98.9bn in the first four months of 2018, according the official US data. Canada accepted 18.3 percent of US exports, ahead of Mexico and China, and is the top export market for 35 states. So, indignation may be hard to sustain in a nation enamored by US popular culture and larded with American goods. This could very well come down to consumerism vs. nationalism.

William Shatner is a Canadian and an Emmy Award-winning actor who became most famous for portraying Captain James Tiberius Kirk of the starship Enterprise. But there is much more today's guest than his career in the Star Trek franchise. Shatner's 2004 cover version of Pulp’s Common People produced by Ben Folds from his underrated Has Been album is still one of my all-time favorite cover versions and many are unaware that he is also a New York Times Bestselling author. But despite an iconic career, it's his involvement the world of tech startups that is possibly the biggest surprise. Back In 1997, Shatner teamed up with travel discount site, Priceline.com. Priceline's Nasdaq listed stock (NASDAQ: PCLN) has traveled from approximately $16.00 for the initial public offering, to $1840 more recently where it rests with a US$90 billion dollar market cap. Maybe we shouldn't be too surprised to hear that William Shatner is now back on the startup scene with LottoGopher. I am very happy to be joining the LottoGopher team. Much like Netflix disrupted the movie rental business and Uber hailing a cab, LottoGopher is disrupting the lottery industry for Americans. Consumers nowadays demand exceptional service, competitive pricing, and the convenience of buying products online. LottoGopher offers a simple, cost-effective way to order lottery tickets online and I look forward to helping their customers dream big! William Shatner LottoGopher is disrupting the lottery industry for Americans. Essentially, LottoGopher is a lottery messenger service that allows users to easily order and manage their state lottery tickets online using a debit or credit card. By allowing individuals to choose their numbers and safely order tickets for the official lottery drawings in California, LottoGopher makes it simple for users to keep track of their tickets and winnings. I chat to William Shatner about his iconic career, his love of technology, LottoGopher and another project around twitter called Ubuntu.

Bill and Brian take a deep dive into the unique and unexpectedly great work of William Shatner and his collaboration with Ben Folds, Has Been (2004, Shout! Factory). The iconic Star Trek actor was often maligned for his previous foray into pop music, 1968's The Transformed Man, but he found a willing collaborator who helped channel his spoken word poetry fantastic songs that muse on success, tragedy, and growing older. Bill and Brian talk about how they were pleasantly surprised when this came out. We came for Ben Folds but stayed for Shatner. We also discuss Pulp, Joe Jackson, anxiety in the face of success, relationships with dads, the passage of time, the Great Cosmic Joke, having fun at funerals, choosing how you feel, how Shatner took control of who and what he is with his own self-awareness, and much more as we make our way through the album track by track!
Robin Marantz Henig, the author of nine books, writes about science and medicine for The New York Times Magazine. “I have my moments of thinking, ‘Well, why is this still so hard? Why do I still have to prove myself after all this time?’ If I were in a different field, or if I were even on a staff, I’d have a title that gave me more respect. I still have to wait just as long as any other writer to get any kind of response to a pitch. I still have to pitch. Nothing is automatic, even after all these years of working at this.” Thanks to MailChimp, Johnson & Johnson, and Audible.
