Sean also highlights the significance of proper breathing techniques, stress management, and the need for continuous improvement in one's personal and professional life.  Topics Include: The Gabriel Method Stress Reduction Effective and Sustainable Weight Loss Safety  [1:00] Lisa introduces her guest, Jon Gabriel, and shares her personal journey of how she met him and became a supporter of his work after initially being resistant to his message and how she knew she needed to work with him.  [5:00] Jon Gabriel shares the story about how so many people who are resistant to his work at first become fierce supporters, including several interviewers. Jon goes on to share how he eventually lost 220 pounds without dieting or forcing restriction but by eating healthier.  [9:00] Jon talks about his struggle with weight and his experience with various diets, including working face to face with Dr. Atkins.  [11:00] Jon explains the Gabriel Method, which focuses on getting the body to want to be thin by working with its survival programs rather than against them. This involves making the body feel safe, not forcing restriction, and how to turn off your fat programs. [17:24] Jon discusses the concept of fat as a survival adaptation and how understanding this can help in creating a sustainable weight loss strategy. Jon contrasts traditional dieting, which often involves forced restriction, with his method that focuses on making the body feel safe and naturally reducing the desire to overeat. Jon and Lisa discuss how fat programs are inherited for survival, particularly in conditions of famine and cold and how our biology interprets different types of stress. Chronic low-grade stress favors fat retention, while acute stress favors being thin. [22:24] Lisa shares her personal experience of losing 150 pounds through diet and exercise, and her initial skepticism towards the idea that diets don't work. Lisa uses the analogy of holding a volleyball underwater to describe the temporary nature of weight loss through dieting and the challenge of maintaining it. Lisa and Jon talk about the importance of understanding the connection between mind and body in weight management, and how stress and mental state affect physical health. Jon shares a personal anecdote about working on Wall Street and gaining 200 pounds due to stress, contrasting with a colleague who lost weight under the same conditions.  [36:16] Jon talks about how he felt like he didn't want to gain anymore weight and took a leap of faith and began his health journey with getting his sleep apnea addressed and real rest lowered his cortisol levels and how through that he lost 120 pounds without making any lifestyle changes.  [42:12] Jon talks about the effectiveness of visualization in weight loss, and how it helped him achieve his goals. [56:53] Lisa and Jon emphasize that safety is the baseline for sustainable weight loss. The body needs to feel safe mentally, emotionally, spiritually, socially, and physically to lose weight effectively. Both Jon and Lisa discuss the importance of a daily meditation practice. Dr. Kerry ThuettDr. Kerry Thuett applied her own knowledge of science to improve her own health and permanently lose a lot of weight. She moved from San Fransisco to Lubbock to open her training and nutrition coaching practice, called Fully Fueled Fitness.Dr. Thuett has an undergrad in Math and Biology from Texas Tech, a master's in Environmental Toxicology from Texas Tech, and a Ph.D. in Neurotoxicology from Texas A&M. In graduate school, she studied the effect of perchlorate on the thyroid gland and the hypothalamic-pituitary gonadal axis, and then for her Ph.D., the effect of methylmercury on the developing fetal brain. So, as a toxicologist, this was really interesting as you learn all about Anatomy and Physiology. You've got to know Biology, you have to know Chemistry, you have to know Pharmacology. BENNETT YELLIN Born and raised in Los Angeles, Bennett received his B.A. in fiction from U.C.L.A.  Still not ready to enter the real world, he enrolled at UMass in Amherst for an M.F.A. in fiction. It was there — on the first day of school — that he met and befriended Peter Farrelly. On a lark, they tried writing a comedy together and this spec script ultimately got into the hands of Eddie Murphy and the Zucker Brothers, creators of Airplane and The Naked Gun. Both Murphy and the Zuckers asked the duo to write movies for them, and their career was off and running. Yellin wrote exclusively with Peter for years until they asked his brother Bobby to join them. The three went on to write a number of unproduced features together until they created Dumb and Dumber in 1994 and reunited in 2014 to co-write the official sequel chronicling the further idiotic adventures of Harry and Lloyd, Dumb and Dumber To. In 2007, the Farrelly Brothers branched out on their own and Yellin partnered with James Robert Johnson to create a professional writing duo that has endured for sixteen years. Among the plethora of projects they've tackled during their career — some produced, others not — the two have co-written Let's Scare Jessica to Death for Paramount Pictures, the Fox situation comedy Unhitched, the direct-to-DVD thriller Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead, Paramount Pictures' Hotel For Dogs 2, the Anchor Bay action-thriller In the Blood with Gina Carano, the 20th Century Fox family film, Santa's Little Helper, and the Warner Brothers re-boot of the Police Academy series, Police Academy: Takin' it to the Streets. If you want to lose weight and keep it off for good, you've got to face some cold hard facts…As much as we like to just get excited about a new goal when we are motivated and even tell ourselves that it will be “easy,” to help ourselves embrace the change, this actually sabotages our long-term success.Because there will be challenges. And the more we can prepare for them, the better off we will be!#1: You get good at, and used to, what you consistently do.Results come not from what we do every once in awhile, but what we do daily.However, what feels natural is also what we've trained our body and mind to see as natural.Often we have to UNLEARN old patterns and habits before we can learn new ones.For example, you may find you can track for a few weeks and then fall off. At some point, you have to push through this hurdle. You have to acknowledge the hard and believe your goals are worth the sacrifice.#2: There is no ideal plan.One size doesn't fit all.What worked for you before, may not work for you later.Because we are constantly evolving - our bodies, needs, goals and lifestyles are constantly changing.So in order to create the perfect plan or you, you have to know where you are currently at to accurately adjust.Meeting ourselves where we are at allows us to make small changes so we aren't dependent constantly on willpower.So we don't get overwhelmed.So we can actually create habits that stick.It helps us create a lifestyle so we then think, “Why didn't I do this sooner?!”#3: Your body fights the weight loss process.The longer you've had the weight on, the longer you haven't been at your goal, the harder the process will be because your body doesn't like change.And then as you try to get your body to even do something it's never done, lose those last few pounds for instance, it is going to rebel more and more.The longer even you've been dieting, the more you'll start to feel things adding up.Realizing this and planning in other ways to measure success, or even strategic breaks, is key!#4: It's going to be boring and hard.The things that work aren't the sexy 1% tweaks. They are the boring basics done daily. And at times, it will be hard to want to do them.We never want to do what we should 100% of the time. BUT these things are what allow us to enjoy life in the way we want.These are the little sacrifices we make to do more of what we love!#5: Your mindset matters most.You can have the exact macros you need, the exact workout plan in place, but if you don't implement it, if you don't trust in it, you're not going to fully use it and see results.Too often we doom ourselves with doubt.We have a plan that would work, but we just don't fully take action or trust in the process long enough for results to build.We doubt it will work and then we don't truly make the changes consistently but convince ourselves we have so we give up when we don't see the results we feel we deserve.Even sometimes causing ourselves to fail because we've done MORE…which, in our head, feels like it should have worked out better.But if you're going to do a program, DO THE PROGRAM.Believe in it and expect to LEARN even if you don't hit your exact goal as fast as you'd like.Because often, as skeptical as we can be, we can ultimately see better results faster when we go all in and do trust the process knowing we will get something out of it no matter what!Learn my 3 step recipe to lose fat and keep it off without feeling miserable.
