The Rezzonators are a band out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin who at first glance you might think is simply your basic rock & roll band, but that's where you'd be wrong. All you have to do is give a listen to their album Dream River & Other Tales of Adventure to get the bigger picture. Each member of the band brings something unique to the mix and makes them much more than what you might expect. Yes, they can rock out and when they do, you wanna crank it. But as you listen, the depth of their skills and talents is revealed in both songwriting and performance and you'll find yourself going back for listen after listen. Ronnie Wood has been a prominent music figure in British Blues Rock since the late 1960s. At a time when The Beatles were at their height, Wood lived in the basement of Ringo Starr's house near Grosvenor Square in London with Jimi Hendrix while John & Yoko lived upstairs. At the same time, Mick Jagger lives in the "mews" at the back of the house. From The Birds, to The Jeff Beck Group (feat: Rod Stewart), to The Faces (Ian McLagan, Kenny Jones, Ronnie Lane, Rod Stewart, & Ronnie Wood), to replacing Mick Taylor in the Rolling Stones (1975), Ron Wood has mixed and mingled with rock royalty for more than six decades. Join us on this podcast only exploration of Ronnie "he would if he could" Woods' Rollin' Stones. 1. This episode spotlights two separate English bands that became influences on bands in the coming decades, The Small Faces and The Yardbirds. The Small Faces began as a Mod band that played pop and R & B music though by the time of the London Psychedelic scene the band became adept to experimenting in the studio while doing session work for Anfrew Loog Oldham's record label, Immediate Records. The band became one of the bands of their era and their effect on their peers and fans is still prevalent. The Yardbirds began as a Blues band and had the most amazing succession of guitar players in the band. They played the Blues with Eric Clapton and after he left The Yardbirds became more experimental with Jeff Beck. Then they added Jimmy Page into the mix and he shortly began to form a New Yardbirds band for touring though he changed the band's name to Led Zeppelin. The rest is Rock & Roll history. Warterfield tells the story of what happened to the company when COVID in 2020 essentially brought every single one of its touring clients to an abrupt and complete halt. Warterfield also speaks of his own trucking beginnings back in the 1980s. If Warterfield's name sounds familiar, you may have caught his story of an early trucking mentor, Kenny Jones, the father of Barbara Mandrell's then steel guitar player, Mike Jones. Are you all seated comfortable, too square on your botty? Then Love That Album can begin.Welcome to episode 155 of Love That Album podcast. As the 1960s rolled on, popular music evolved....and yet some of it looked back for inspiration. In the late 60s, the pop songs that had propelled the early British Invasion bands had moved on to make way for heavier sounds of psychedelia and blues based rock. The mod bands that had started out as purely “maximum R&B” were exploring different avenues while still maintaining some connections to their roots. In 1968, The Small Faces had been through their share of grief with crooked management, contracts that did not favour them, and money woes. (Sadly, Steve Marriott's own future was set for a lot more grief). They wrote and recorded what many believe was their masterpiece, “Ogden's Nut Gone Flake”. Side 1 was a collection of hard rock, psychedelia, and old world British music-hall inspired tunes. Side 2 was a concept piece – a story about Happiness Stan who searches for the “missing” half of the moon. The story is narrated by Professor of Gobbledegook, Stanley Unwin. Oh yes, oh yes.....I'm joined by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Ian Kitney (Overnight Jones, Tim Rogers and the Temperance Union) to contemplate the moon, lavatories, raising one's “oars”, the drumming of Kenny Jones, whether Marriott was mocking the state of contemporary British music, putting holes in one's snare drum, and what happens when George Formby is cleaning “winders”. It was a thrill to have Ian on the show – not only as a musician I've long admired, but also as a wonderful conversation partner about music we love.I also want to give a shout out to author Alan Pattinson who has written a series of wonderful books about so many musicians and bands from the “classic” rock era. I bought his book on The Small Faces to get a feel for their history, and I'd recommend anything he'd write. You can get Ian's albums from his Bandcamp site at https://iankitney.bandcamp.com/ including his latest called BGM – a wonderful collection of songs crossing over a number of styles over the history of pop.You can read Alan's writings at http://alansalbumarchives.blogspot.com/ which features links to his multiple e-books about the histories and discographies of many bands you love.Download this episode of LTA from wherever you prefer getting your podcasts.Love That Album is proudly part of the Pantheon Podcast network. Oh yes, oh yes..... I'm joined by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Ian Kitney (Overnight Jones, Tim Rogers and the Temperance Union) to contemplate the moon, lavatories, raising one's “oars”, the drumming of Kenny Jones, whether Marriott was mocking the state of contemporary British music, putting holes in one's snare drum, and what happens when George Formby is cleaning “winders”. It was a thrill to have Ian on the show – not only as a musician I've long admired, but also as a wonderful conversation partner about music we love. I also want to give a shout out to author Alan Pattinson who has written a series of wonderful books about so many musicians and bands from the “classic” rock era. I bought his book on The Small Faces to get a feel for their history, and I'd recommend anything he'd write. You can get Ian's albums from his Bandcamp site at https://iankitney.bandcamp.com/ including his latest called BGM – a wonderful collection of songs crossing over a number of styles over the history of pop. This episode contains two phone interviews with Ian McLagan. Mac, as he was known, was a member of the Small Faces. When Steve Marriott left the band to form Humble Pie with Peter Frampton, The Small Faces hired on Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) and Rod Stewart; thus becoming The Faces. When The Faces broke up in '75, Mac toured as a sideman to The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Rod Stewart, and Billy Bragg. I got to know him a bit through the interviews. We met several times including a four-day spree at South-By-Southwest. He was a delightful man and it was a joy to get to know him a bit. Other members of the band included drummer Kenny Jones played with The Who for a bit. Bassist Ronnie Lane did a duets album with Pete Townshend (while living in his back garden at The Twixt). Ronnie Wood joined the Rolling Stones, and Rod Stewart focused on his solo career. Songs (I did not following the interview) Faces / Maggie May Small Faces / Itchycoo ParkFaces / Stay With MeFaces / You're So Rude Faces / Miss Judy's Farm

Today, I’m in conversation with Lili Ming and Kenny Jones, founders of Transparency, a new video platform centring trans people and their experiences. Drawing from their own transitions, Lili and Kenny have created Transparency to speak to the multiplicities of the trans experience, and as a place where life-saving information and first-person advice is available for those who need it. Our conversation is filled with so much honesty and many hard truths, but it’s also filled so much joy and so much laughter. Among much else, LiLi and Kenny discuss measuring their personal success, defining their lives and their existence outside of societal norms, and how we own our responsibility to live in service of others.thetransparencyshow.cominstagram.com/thetransparencyshowBusy Being Black is the podcast exploring how we live in the fullness of our queer Black lives.
