Heard of Scope 4? Us neither. If you thought Scope 3 emissions are hard to count and reduce then Scope 4 lifts the ambition yet again. Scope 4 or so-called avoided emissions ask businesses to create products that replace dirty ones and thereby avoid emissions – think renewables replacing gas or bioplastic replacing PETs. To explain Scope 4, Vincent spoke with Dr Jodi York the chair of the impact committee for the Climate Venture Capital Fund and the head of impact at Melbourne-based Kilara Capital. We're moving from theory to practice with Ben Krasnostein and Dr Jodi York from Kilara Capital. They're an impact investing powerhouse and today, we're digging into the models and frameworks they employ, but more importantly, how their impact approach can help to both drive-down greenhouse gas emissions, while also boosting financial returns. Ben is founder and managing director of the investment management firm, Kilara Capital. He was born and bred in Melbourne, and after a stint in legal practice he found himself drawn towards business, investing and doing deals. He opened the doors to Kilara in 2017. And Dr Jodi York is Chief Impact Officer, she joined the team in 2020. She's originally from San Francisco and she found herself in Melbourne via a stint in New Zealand. These two are the ideal guests for this, the third episode in my podcast series exploring the current inflection point that's seeing impact measurement and management frameworks harmonise and consolidate and for investors that means it's now easier than ever to use impact principles when allocating capital. Kilara has recently published its inaugural impact report, and we'll dig into the very progressive models they used to compare their impact performance to a global baseline. As well as the impact hurdle that commits the firm to reduce C02e emissions by 15%, with a hit to the firm's carry if they don't achieve it. This was a really great conversation, packed full of practical insights about leading impact practice in Australia. Kilara shares a story about her performance at a huge Hanukkah ceremony in Tokyo. With the first Japanese & female guest for Sweet Wasabi, Ninja "OL" Polly, who is a 28-year-old office worker at a huge beverage company is going to share what "OL" life is like in this country. Although her story is personal, it should include the very reality of Japanese female working for a company.

With Kim Andersson, one of the most successful comic artist in Sweden and now invited having his exhibition at the Swedish embassy in Tokyo, Kilara and Kim shared different perspectives of Manga culture. Now Japanese are even trying to marry to comic characters. With International Comic Festival around the corner, the two were so much excited at each different background!!

While crazy things are happening, Kilara's personal life sometimes has faced Japanese sexism. Sharing her childhood story and current gender-free society, and discussed what Japan is going to be like with audience.

November is the month of Samurai in Japanese saying. Kilara shared stories which are killing like Katanas (swords). Bringing a special guest Robert Scott, an American former professional baseball player, current actor. body trainer, and musician based in Osaka, the two talked about "Godzilla vs King Gidorah" which is Robert's one of the most major works. Also Robert gives tips for living and working in Japan based on his much professional careers. So many laughs, learnings, and Japanese dad jokes!! Also it includes Tokyo's event information of the week.

Japanese Halloween these days often goes too far . Kilara shared her impression against the chaotic celebration. Also having a special guest all the way from Mexico, actor Raymond shared his experience in working for Japanese companies both in Mexico and Japan. Raymond is so handsome guy, so he's hot like chili. Me, I am hot like wasabi.
