Fresno Unified is considering whether to remove all references to César Chávez from district schools and facilities. The debate has sparked strong reactions, with supporters calling it an erasure of civil‑rights history and critics questioning Chávez’s legacy and whether schools should honor controversial figures. The district launched its audit on retirees’ dependents amid a network dispute that temporarily disrupted health care services for thousands of retirees and their dependents. Retirees last month filed a class-action lawsuit against the district over healthcare plan changes in 2023 they say diluted their benefits. This week on "Off the Cuff," Tim is joined by David and Norma to do a deep dive on what financial aid professionals should do if a student's marital status changes. The team first discusses how and why a student's marital status would change from when they first filed their FAFSA. David then tells a "dramatic" story, a scenario that he created, to illustrate the rules for updating a student's marital status after their FAFSA is filed.

Informative Report: The Fragmented Accountability of Brandon BeakBrandon Beak's history presents a complex picture of professional misconduct followed by allegations of institutional protection and recent personal legal turmoil. Due to documented efforts by the Inglewood Police Department (IPD) to destroy records, obtaining a unified, "whole" view of Beak's actions and accountability—bridging the gap between his professional termination and his current status—is fundamentally obscured.1. The Facts of Professional Misconduct and TerminationBrandon Beak was an officer with the Inglewood Police Department whose professional career ended due to a massive internal affairs investigation into sexual misconduct. The Firing (March 2007):• Context: Beak was terminated in March 2007 alongside six other officers, as part of a "purge". This action occurred during one of the most tumultuous periods in the IPD's history, characterized by systemic misconduct and excessive force incidents.• Allegations: The internal investigation focused on allegations that department employees had sex with female employees at massage parlors, or were "covering for colleagues who engaged in such activities". The actions were tied to California Penal Code sections concerning prostitution and solicitation, including soliciting an act of prostitution (PC 647(b)), pimping (PC 266h), and pandering (PC 266i).• Preceding Incident: Prior to his firing, in December 2006, Beak was involved in an incident with Officer Donvey Lindsey where they followed a woman suspected of prostitution, contributing to the behavioral pattern that led to the investigation.• Official Standing: Beak's termination appears to have been administrative, as there is no evidence of criminal charges arising from the incident. However, he appears on the Brady List for the Inglewood Police Department, which tracks officers whose credibility issues could impact criminal cases.2. Conflicting Information Regarding Rehire StatusDespite being formally terminated in 2007, the record contains conflicting information regarding Beak's employment status afterward, which highlights the departmental chaos and lack of clarity:• Official Status: Multiple documents refer to Brandon Beak as a former IPD officer who was terminated in March 2007.• Contradictory Claim: One source explicitly states that he was fired and then hired back. This source claims that he still works there. The individual making this claim also describes the police department as "extremely corrupt" and alleges that they rehired him and destroyed the files.Specific details about Beak's activities or status after 2007 are not widely documented in public records. The investigative reports concluded that attempts to locate a confirmed online presence for the former officer were unsuccessful, noting that a social media profile with his name in Toronto was conclusively ruled out as belonging to an unrelated individual.3. Current Personal Legal Issues: Double Life and PolygamyWhile Beak has maintained a low public profile since 2007, confirmed facts reveal he is involved in serious legal and personal proceedings, demonstrating a pattern of significant ethical breaches extending beyond his police work.• Marital Status and Double Life: A confirmed fact about Brandon Beak is that he was living a complete double life.• Polygamy Allegations: He was married, and then subsequently married the friend of the person who provided this information.• Current Litigation: As a result of this double life, his wife is divorcing him after a friend of hers discovered "crazy things". Beak is currently in court because of polygamy.

Today, we step into one of the most personal and emotionally complex passages in the New Testament—1 Corinthians 7:8–24—where Paul offers wise, Spirit-led counsel on marriage, singleness, divorce, and remarriage. Whether you're married, single, divorced, or widowed, this passage has something to say about your life and calling. Join us as we ask the question: Can we change our marital status?Episode Notes: Can We Change Our Marital Status?1 Corinthians 7:8–24In this episode, we explore Paul's pastoral and Spirit-guided wisdom on a deeply personal issue: relationships, change, and calling. Together, we consider:What Scripture says about widowhood, desire, and remarriageHow Paul speaks to the pain of divorce and the hope of reconciliationGuidance for Christians married to unbelieving spousesWhy Paul repeatedly calls us to “remain as you are”—not out of resignation, but out of a radical trust in God's sovereign placementHow to understand our past through the lens of grace and forgiveness, not legalism or guiltWhy your current status—whether married, single, divorced, or remarried—does not disqualify you from serving God faithfully and fruitfullyKey Message: Whatever your relationship story, God meets you there—not to shame you, but to walk with you. You are not sidelined. This podcast delves into the qualifications of elders (overseers, bishops) as outlined in Titus 1, emphasizing character over intellect and the importance of a godly home life. The discussion explores the scriptural requirements, including marital status (debating whether being married is mandatory), the pastoral gift as an ordained office, and the elder's role in shepherding, teaching, and even healing. Pastor Anthony Uvenio examine differing interpretations of relevant scriptures, referencing commentaries and contrasting views on polygamy, childlessness, and the significance of believing children. The podcast highlights the crucial role of elders as chief authorities in the church, responsible for guarding God's word and leading their congregations. The study touches upon the Roman Catholic Church's stance on priestly celibacy for comparison. Finally, the episode stresses the importance of stewardship—caring for God's people—and concludes with a call to action for strong faith and evangelism, foreshadowing a future discussion on sound doctrine.#elders #churchleadership #biblicalleadership #pastoralministry #titus1 #1timothy3 #churchgovernment #spiritualgifts #shepherding #sounddoctrine 00:00:00 - Qualifications of Elders00:03:35 - Elders & Pastoral Gift10:16:00 - Supernatural Acts & Elders13:32:00 - Marital Status & Leadership20:07:00 - Ministry, Marriage & Parenting27:17:00 - God, Family & Responsible Men30:28:00 - Faith, Family & Dominion

“Hypersexuality is a term used for a presumed mental disorder that causes unwanted or excessive sexual arousal, causing people to engage in or think about sexual activity to a point of distress or impairment.[1] It is controversial whether it should be included as a clinical diagnosis[1][2] used by mental healthcare professionals. Nymphomania and satyriasis were terms previously used for the condition in women and men, respectively. Consistent with there not being any consensus over what causes hypersexuality,[15] authors have used many different labels to refer to it, sometimes interchangeably, but often depending on which theory they favor or which specific behavior they have studied or have done research on; related or obsolete terms include compulsive masturbation, compulsive sexual behavior,[16][17] cybersex addiction, erotomania, "excessive sexual drive",[18] hyperphilia,[19] hypersexuality,[20][21] hypersexual disorder,[22] problematic hypersexuality,[23] sexual addiction, sexual compulsivity,[24] sexual dependency,[14] sexual impulsivity,[25] "out of control sexual behavior",[26] and paraphilia-related disorder.[27][28][29].” -Wikipedia. “https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hush_money payments were normalized by the religiously narcissistic felons.” -Antonio Myers. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support

“In 2011, Elizabeth Brake first coined the term amatonormativity, to describe the overarching, culturally embedded belief that romantic relationships are essential to well-being.1 Heteronormativity refers to the assumption that all people are heterosexual and does not allow for individuals who hold diverse sexual orientations, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, or asexual, which describes people who experience no sexual attraction to others. Allonormativity describes the stereotype that all people experience some form of sexual attraction. Allonormative makes space for heterosexual attraction as well as alternative attractions including lesbian, gay, and bisexual. However, an allonormative view ignores the existence of asexual individuals.2 Cisnormative expectations refer to the construct of being cisgender, which is holding an identity that matches the sex a person was assigned at birth.3 Cisnormative beliefs do not make space for individuals whose identities reflect aspects of transgenderism. People who believe that individuals should have only a single, monogamous romantic partner at any given time support mononormativity.4 Both mononormativity and amatonormativity address expectations regarding the pursuit of romantic relationships, however, mononormativity is based on the assumption that all people are interested in romantic relationships. Sexual normativity refers to the assumption that all people experience sexual desire and seek opportunities to act on that desire.5 This concept is highly related to amatonormativity as they both create a culture in which the lack of interest in romantic or sexual relationships is seen as abnormal6.” -ChoosingTherapy. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support

May 29, 2008 Update: With the ACLU's tacit support, on May 29, 2008 Governor Bill Ritter signed Colorado's censorship Bill. See: - the full text of the bill below, or - this official pdf from leg.state.co.us produce by Colorado Legislative Services, or - on the state's official online (but absurdly difficult to navigate) Colorado Revised Statues, 24-34-701, or - see a simple jpg screen shot of section 701. C.R.S. 24-34-701 states: "Publishing of discriminative matter forbidden. No person... shall publish... any communication... of any kind... intended... to discriminate... against... sexual orientation [or] marital status [i.e., cohabitation]." Thus Colorado has a censorship bill against the teaching of traditional Christian morality. Bob Enyart has predicted that the state will not even attempt to enforce this statute until it's been on the books for a long time and until it finds an especially unsympathetic defendant to persecute. * Colorado Senate Bill 200: Focus on the Family described this as a bathroom bill that would allow men into women's restrooms. Bob Enyart Live has warned, sadly as lone of the few voices, that SB 200 doesn't just mess with public restrooms, and that such a caricature misses the danger. When Governor Bill Ritter signed SB 200, Colorado enacted into law the foundation for America's most far-reaching, hostile homosexual attack on Christians. Endorsed by the beautiful people, in the name of tolerance and diversity, C.R.S. 24-34-701 outlaws the diversity and free speech (of Bible-believers) and outlaws tolerance (of evangelicals). Read and be stunned at the hatred and intolerance of the homosexual activists: COLORADO SENATE BILL 08-200 CONCERNING THE EXPANSION OF PROHIBITIONS AGAINST DISCRIMINATION Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado: SECTION 1. Legislative declaration. The general assembly hereby finds, determines, and declares that nothing in this act is intended to impede or otherwise limit the protections contained in section 4 of article II of the state constitution concerning the free exercise and enjoyment of religious profession and worship. [Yeah, right.] SECTION 2. 24-34-301, Colorado Revised Statutes Definitions. (7) "SEXUAL ORIENTATION" MEANS A PERSON'S ORIENTATION TOWARD HETEROSEXUALITY, HOMOSEXUALITY, BISEXUALITY, OR TRANSGENDER STATUS OR ANOTHER PERSON'S PERCEPTION THEREOF. Audio of the 1972 opinion of the Court in Eisendtadt v. Baird (1972)    After his lecture on birth control and over-population at Boston University, William Baird gave contraceptive foam to an unmarried woman. But, it was a felony to give contraceptives to unmarried people in Massachusetts in 1967, so Baird was charged with the felony crime of distributing contraceptives to unmarried men or women. The question before the Court in this case was whether the right to privacy was violated, as in Griswold v. Connecticut. In the end, the Court held that the Massachusetts law was indeed unconstitutional, but not on privacy grounds. Instead, the law's distinction between single and married recipients did not pass the rational basis test of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.   Music by Epidemic Sound

What is it about little bits of cardboard, plastic, and wood that draw people in so much? This week, we're talking about fans of board games: AKA Board Game Geeks! Next week, will we escape the podcast in 60 minutes or less? Probably not, but that won't stop us from uncovering the mystery of escape room fans! ## Episode outline ### Fandom Facts **Origins and history:** Board games are... broad, and historically date back quite a ways. Wikipedia provides a succinct description not unlike a description of life: > A board game is a tabletop game that involves counters or pieces moved or placed on a pre-marked surface or "board", according to a set of rules. Some games are based on pure strategy, but many contain an element of chance; and some are purely chance, with no element of skill. > > Games usually have a goal that a player aims to achieve. Early board games represented a battle between two armies, and most modern board games are still based on defeating opponents in terms of counters, winning position, or accrual of points. > > — [Wikipedia - Board game](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Board_game) While it is unclear what the _first_ board game was, many early games date back as far as 5000 years ago; some examples of the early board games include Senet (Egypt, ~5000 years ago), Go (China, ~2500 years ago), and Backgammon (Persia, ~5000 years ago). **Size of Fandom:** Using a few proxies of popularity, we can try to estimate the number of fans (and level of involvement of fans): - BoardGameGeek had approximately 360k registered in 2010, with 100k active per month ([BoardGameGeek - Geek Analytics 2010](https://boardgamegeek.com/article/6071127#6071127)) - The most backed board game on Kickstarter, Exploding Kittens, had almost 220 000 backers **Fan Demographics:** The demographic data we managed to obtain comes from [The Daily Worker Placement](http://dailyworkerplacement.com/2016/02/19/survey-results-1-who-are-we/).
