This podcast delves into the qualifications of elders (overseers, bishops) as outlined in Titus 1, emphasizing character over intellect and the importance of a godly home life. The discussion explores the scriptural requirements, including marital status (debating whether being married is mandatory), the pastoral gift as an ordained office, and the elder's role in shepherding, teaching, and even healing. Pastor Anthony Uvenio examine differing interpretations of relevant scriptures, referencing commentaries and contrasting views on polygamy, childlessness, and the significance of believing children. The podcast highlights the crucial role of elders as chief authorities in the church, responsible for guarding God's word and leading their congregations. The study touches upon the Roman Catholic Church's stance on priestly celibacy for comparison. Finally, the episode stresses the importance of stewardship—caring for God's people—and concludes with a call to action for strong faith and evangelism, foreshadowing a future discussion on sound doctrine.#elders #churchleadership #biblicalleadership #pastoralministry #titus1 #1timothy3 #churchgovernment #spiritualgifts #shepherding #sounddoctrine 00:00:00 - Qualifications of Elders00:03:35 - Elders & Pastoral Gift10:16:00 - Supernatural Acts & Elders13:32:00 - Marital Status & Leadership20:07:00 - Ministry, Marriage & Parenting27:17:00 - God, Family & Responsible Men30:28:00 - Faith, Family & Dominion

Implicit bias toward people who are unmarried and do not have children is pervasive throughout medical education, protocol, and practice. Models of healthcare based on a presumed family structure are neither inclusive nor safe when patients have different experiences and outcomes based on marital status. Healthcare access, hospital release requirements, post-procedure care, and treatment are designed for those with specific social and familial structures and relationships. The dangers posed throughout the medical field can leave patients to navigate on their own, amidst these unrecognized barriers. How does this impact the quality of healthcare an unmarried person receives? Today's guest is Joan DelFattore, a professor emerita at the University of Delaware. She has researched, written, and spoken widely on singlist bas in medical care. She will share how this bias can significantly affect cancer treatment and the ways medical authors justify the disparate treatment of married and unmarried cancer patients who are otherwise similar. We will discuss what can be done to reduce these adverse outcomes, and the urgent changes we need now. Tune in live to learn more about what you can do to create change amidst healthcare inequity impacting our demographic.

When Harrison Butker stepped up to the podium for his commencement address, little did we know it would spark a nationwide conversation on marriage, parenting, and gender roles. On today's episode, we're unpacking the Kansas City Chiefs kicker's traditional views and the media tempest they've stirred up. Butker's speech didn't just touch on women as homemakers—it called into question the balance of work-life commitments and the role of faith in family life. Join us as we sift through the heated debates and reflect on the authenticity of choosing a path aligned with personal convictions in an ever-evolving society. The dialogue takes a turn towards the nuances of gender dynamics and the irony of a society that both questions and upholds family values. From examining the pressures that shape our decisions about career and family to discussing the support systems for single parents, we're probing the essence of what it means to lead a Christ-centered life in any circumstance. I'll also share insights from my own experiences—how marrying young has shaped my journey and the invaluable growth found in the years before settling down. Let's navigate these pivotal issues together, seeking understanding amid the clamor and finding our own definitions of fulfillment.Join us weekly as we strive help people embrace God's standard for sexuality! “Hypersexuality is a term used for a presumed mental disorder that causes unwanted or excessive sexual arousal, causing people to engage in or think about sexual activity to a point of distress or impairment.[1] It is controversial whether it should be included as a clinical diagnosis[1][2] used by mental healthcare professionals. Nymphomania and satyriasis were terms previously used for the condition in women and men, respectively. Consistent with there not being any consensus over what causes hypersexuality,[15] authors have used many different labels to refer to it, sometimes interchangeably, but often depending on which theory they favor or which specific behavior they have studied or have done research on; related or obsolete terms include compulsive masturbation, compulsive sexual behavior,[16][17] cybersex addiction, erotomania, "excessive sexual drive",[18] hyperphilia,[19] hypersexuality,[20][21] hypersexual disorder,[22] problematic hypersexuality,[23] sexual addiction, sexual compulsivity,[24] sexual dependency,[14] sexual impulsivity,[25] "out of control sexual behavior",[26] and paraphilia-related disorder.[27][28][29].” -Wikipedia. “https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hush_money payments were normalized by the religiously narcissistic felons.” -Antonio Myers. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support

“In 2011, Elizabeth Brake first coined the term amatonormativity, to describe the overarching, culturally embedded belief that romantic relationships are essential to well-being.1 Heteronormativity refers to the assumption that all people are heterosexual and does not allow for individuals who hold diverse sexual orientations, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, or asexual, which describes people who experience no sexual attraction to others. Allonormativity describes the stereotype that all people experience some form of sexual attraction. Allonormative makes space for heterosexual attraction as well as alternative attractions including lesbian, gay, and bisexual. However, an allonormative view ignores the existence of asexual individuals.2 Cisnormative expectations refer to the construct of being cisgender, which is holding an identity that matches the sex a person was assigned at birth.3 Cisnormative beliefs do not make space for individuals whose identities reflect aspects of transgenderism. People who believe that individuals should have only a single, monogamous romantic partner at any given time support mononormativity.4 Both mononormativity and amatonormativity address expectations regarding the pursuit of romantic relationships, however, mononormativity is based on the assumption that all people are interested in romantic relationships. Sexual normativity refers to the assumption that all people experience sexual desire and seek opportunities to act on that desire.5 This concept is highly related to amatonormativity as they both create a culture in which the lack of interest in romantic or sexual relationships is seen as abnormal6.” -ChoosingTherapy. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support

May 29, 2008 Update: With the ACLU's tacit support, on May 29, 2008 Governor Bill Ritter signed Colorado's censorship Bill. See: - the full text of the bill below, or - this official pdf from leg.state.co.us produce by Colorado Legislative Services, or - on the state's official online (but absurdly difficult to navigate) Colorado Revised Statues, 24-34-701, or - see a simple jpg screen shot of section 701. C.R.S. 24-34-701 states: "Publishing of discriminative matter forbidden. No person... shall publish... any communication... of any kind... intended... to discriminate... against... sexual orientation [or] marital status [i.e., cohabitation]." Thus Colorado has a censorship bill against the teaching of traditional Christian morality. Bob Enyart has predicted that the state will not even attempt to enforce this statute until it's been on the books for a long time and until it finds an especially unsympathetic defendant to persecute. * Colorado Senate Bill 200: Focus on the Family described this as a bathroom bill that would allow men into women's restrooms. Bob Enyart Live has warned, sadly as lone of the few voices, that SB 200 doesn't just mess with public restrooms, and that such a caricature misses the danger. When Governor Bill Ritter signed SB 200, Colorado enacted into law the foundation for America's most far-reaching, hostile homosexual attack on Christians. Endorsed by the beautiful people, in the name of tolerance and diversity, C.R.S. 24-34-701 outlaws the diversity and free speech (of Bible-believers) and outlaws tolerance (of evangelicals). Read and be stunned at the hatred and intolerance of the homosexual activists: COLORADO SENATE BILL 08-200 CONCERNING THE EXPANSION OF PROHIBITIONS AGAINST DISCRIMINATION Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Colorado: SECTION 1. Audio of the 1972 opinion of the Court in Eisendtadt v. Baird (1972) After his lecture on birth control and over-population at Boston University, William Baird gave contraceptive foam to an unmarried woman. But, it was a felony to give contraceptives to unmarried people in Massachusetts in 1967, so Baird was charged with the felony crime of distributing contraceptives to unmarried men or women. The question before the Court in this case was whether the right to privacy was violated, as in Griswold v. Connecticut. In the end, the Court held that the Massachusetts law was indeed unconstitutional, but not on privacy grounds. Instead, the law's distinction between single and married recipients did not pass the rational basis test of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Music by Epidemic Sound

A new mishnah - this time, on the marriage restrictions on the kohen gadol, the high priest. He is not permitted to marry a divorcee... Nor a grown woman, which of course needs a lot of unpacking... Nor a woman whose hymen is not intact - the focus here is most definitely on virginity. What was the reality of all this for the kohen gadol? And to what degree did the sages expect any of these cases to happen? But why is she described as being "not a grown woman"? A clear dispute, and the majority position is that she can be an adult,

When a person marries (or divorces), they should update their estate plan. If they don't, state laws determine who their heirs are and how/when they inherit Interesting Fact: Traditionally, June has been the most popular month of the year to marry, there are many reasons this is thought to be true, here are a couple: • The Roman goddess of marriage, Juno, is said to be a protector of women, in particular in marriage and childbearing so for those who marry in June it was said they would be blessed with prosperity and happiness. • During medieval times, people only bathed about once a year and that was usually in the spring, so it was common to marry while the bride still smelled relatively fresh.

Google Trends shows the relative amount of interest in a topic dating back to 2004. Topics are given a score from 1 to 100, 1 meaning very little interest and 100 meaning alot of interest. "Gender equality" scored 100 in March 2021 compared to 11 in July 2006. "Feminism" peaked at 91 in March 2017 and has been holding relatively steady since early 2019. "Tennis" tends to have cyclical peaks around June of each year, but has overall been trending slightly downwards since 2004. What about "pageants"? After hitting a peak of 100 in July 2011, interest in pageants hit an all-time low of 11 in December 2020 and currently sits at a rather miserable 18. Prior to the 2011 peak, the lowest interest in pageants was 35 in December 2008. That would still be more interest than we've had in pageants since November 2016 (over four years ago). When interest in gender equality has never been higher, yet interest in pageants has never been lower, we as an industry have a problem. And that problem is: How do we stay relevant? In this episode I tackle three of the most controversial aspects of pageantry: age limits, the swimsuit section and limitations on marital status. Plus I give you my thoughts on which one needs to go. Buckle up. --- Network with like-minded pageant bosses. In this episode I discuss how to prepare and conduct an interview and the need for a Competency Profile for each position. Conducting an Interview The first thing to consider is your LONG TERM STRATEGY What will this do and how will they help you reach your long term strategies Sales and marketing Front desk Department management PREPARATION FOR THE INTERVIEW Understanding the topics you can’t ask a candidate – Race, Color, or National Origin. Sex, Gender Identity, or Sexual Orientation. Pregnancy status. Age or Genetic Information. Marital Status or Number of Children. Create a POSITION COMPETENCIE profile - What do you want from this position Leadership/Individual Effectiveness Personal Commitment Leadership Control Flexibility Interpersonal Effectiveness Decision making Satisfaction Orientation Teamwork Guest Focus Quality Focus People Management Developing Others Directing Work Functional Knowledge Job knowledge Industry Knowledge Make a list of questions you want to ask each candidate so you are consistent to use as a guide to follow Ask open ended questions to get the candidate talking and HAVE at least two follow-up questions Drill down on focus areas that pertain to the position you are interviewing for like problem resolution and guest interactions, groups or corporate sales I always made it a point to watch the candidate from a distance to see how they interacted with staff. Also, I talked to the person that greeted them first to get their opinion on first interactions, personality and conversation. Also my first impression as I greeted the candidate was very important based on handshake, pleasant greetings, tone of voice and smile. Always use an ice breaker to put the candidate at ease. This will let their ability to have a conversation come out. As you progress through your list of questions, watch out for the candidates demeanor to see if it diminishes as time passes to stays consistent. This will be a tell tell sign the candidate doesn’t have a consistent personality. At the end of the interview, make time for the candidate to ask questions about the company, position, pay, benefits etc. I always told them to email me if they had any additional questions after they left. A good habit to get into is – have multiple people interview the final candidates, this will – Allow a different perspective Help you make the critical decision for who to hire Will let you compare notes about a certain candidate AS a GM, if all interviewers didn’t agree on a candidate, they didn’t get hired. It had to be unanimous. Please follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn and send us any questions or comments you my have to Firsttimeleader@gmail.com.
Did you know that you can be 100 years old and apply for a 30 year home loan? Don't worry, most consumers don't. Your personal demographic doesn't change the opportunity or terms of financing you'll receive. Throughout my career I've had older individuals say "I'm XX years old, I'm sure I can't qualify for a 30 year loan", and I get great pleasure informing them they can if they qualify based on their finances. This is one example of many. I cover the demographic topic in this episode and dissect how lenders use your personal information to lend. What is it about little bits of cardboard, plastic, and wood that draw people in so much? This week, we're talking about fans of board games: AKA Board Game Geeks! Next week, will we escape the podcast in 60 minutes or less? Probably not, but that won't stop us from uncovering the mystery of escape room fans! ## Episode outline ### Fandom Facts **Origins and history:** Board games are... broad, and historically date back quite a ways. Wikipedia provides a succinct description not unlike a description of life: > A board game is a tabletop game that involves counters or pieces moved or placed on a pre-marked surface or "board", according to a set of rules. Some games are based on pure strategy, but many contain an element of chance; and some are purely chance, with no element of skill. > > Games usually have a goal that a player aims to achieve. Early board games represented a battle between two armies, and most modern board games are still based on defeating opponents in terms of counters, winning position, or accrual of points. > > — [Wikipedia - Board game](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Board_game) While it is unclear what the _first_ board game was, many early games date back as far as 5000 years ago; some examples of the early board games include Senet (Egypt, ~5000 years ago), Go (China, ~2500 years ago), and Backgammon (Persia, ~5000 years ago). **Size of Fandom:** Using a few proxies of popularity, we can try to estimate the number of fans (and level of involvement of fans): - BoardGameGeek had approximately 360k registered in 2010, with 100k active per month ([BoardGameGeek - Geek Analytics 2010](https://boardgamegeek.com/article/6071127#6071127)) - The most backed board game on Kickstarter, Exploding Kittens, had almost 220 000 backers **Fan Demographics:** The demographic data we managed to obtain comes from [The Daily Worker Placement](http://dailyworkerplacement.com/2016/02/19/survey-results-1-who-are-we/). Of the almost 2400 respondents... - **Country**: Over 56% were from the USA - **Age**: 42% are 25-35, 33% are 35-44, 16% are 45+ - **Marital Status**: 52% are married, 15% are in a relationship(s) - **Gender**: The majority are male, and 24% identified as female, 1.1% as non-binary, and 0.6% as trans - **Education**: Almost two-thirds have a bachelor's degree or higher - **Tenure**: Less than 25% of respondents had been playing board games for two years or less; almost half of respondents have been playing games between three and ten years **Search Data** [Interest in board games is highly periodic (by search volume)](https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=%2Fm%2F015ll). Every year, around December, interest in board games spikes to the highest point in that year. That being said, ignoring the peak, it looks like board games are back on the upswing after a gradual decline in interest from 2004 to 2010, and is slowly recovering to 2004-ish levels. Other data, like sales, suggests that growth is more substantial: > Global sales of games and puzzles have grown from $9.3 billion in 2013 to $9.6 billion in 2016, according to Euromonitor International, with expected year-on-year growth of more than 1 percent this year. > > — [CNBC - Millennials are driving the board games revival](https://www.cnbc.com/2016/12/22/millennials-the-board-games-revival-catan-pandemic.html) The top ten countries for board games by search volume are: Canada, Estonia, Australia, United Kingdom, Poland, New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, Greece, and the United States. The top five rising related topics are: Words with Friends, Pandemic, Dominion, Kickstarter, and Descent: Journeys in the Dark **Fanfics:** Believe it or not, we managed to find some board game fanfic on Archive of our own. There are approximately 100 game categories in the "other media" section of Archive of our own (including 7 for Settlers of Catan).
