As the president and co-founder of Empower Music and Arts and the Empower Music Festival, he created a communal experience in support of Posi musicians that is fast approaching its third decade. On this episode, Darrell and Ed are live from Unity Village to remind listeners that the only luck charm we need is a consciousness of good fortune. In this solocast, Rev. Carol shares the opening thoughts she presented at the 2023 Whole Planet Spirituality Forum & Retreat at Unity Village. The retreat theme was Peace Begins with Me and we explored ways we could evolve into Peacemakers on the planet. Nearly everyone wants peace, but are we doing the inner work to establish peace within ourselves? What we see in the outer world is a reflection of our consciousness! In this episode, Rev. Carol shares some suggested passages to peace. She also shares David Hawkin's scale of consciousness and the importance of aligning our values, words and actions. Finally, she concludes with a short segment on Peace Pilgrim, a remarkable woman who walked penniless across the United States 6 ½ times to awaken the world to our common humanity and spiritual potential as peacemakers. Nick and Liesl invited Jeremy Springer on the show to brag about his new coffee shop, The Fillmore Cafe, in Unity Village. A former quintessential city girl, Renee King-Sonnen married into the ranching business deep in the heart of Texas. Unexpectedly, she experienced a profound change of heart and fell in love with the farm animals, which changed the course of her life forever. In this episode Renee tells her story of transformation from rancher's wife to Founder and Executive Director of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary to her work with the Rancher Advocacy Program, which transitions cattle ranchers and animal farmers out of animal agribusiness. She continually brings her message of love and compassion to the hearts of sanctuary visitors, local businesses, churches, fellow ranchers and government officials, effecting real change. As a spiritual seeker, Renee has taken the deep dive into many of the world's faith traditions and finds her greatest strength in the still, small voice inside her that she has come to know through her practice of yoga and meditation in the pasture with her cow family. She is the embodiment of aligned feelings, thoughts and actions as she passionately and unrelentingly answers her calling at all levels in her life. Renee and her husband Tommy's story has been seen on CBS, ABC, RFD, and Animal Planet. Their sanctuary lives are featured in the newly released documentary, Rowdy Girl. She will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming Whole Planet Spirituality Retreat that I am hosting at Unity Village this October. In this episode, Rev. Carol shares the essence of her opening remarks at The Road to Eden Whole Planet Spirituality Forum & Retreat at Unity Village, which set the stage for the weekend. What/where is Eden? Why does it matter? What is Whole Planet Spirituality? Most of us sense that the world of normalized violence that we live in today is not aligned with our divine natures. Rev. Carol shares her thoughts on this and also shares some early Unity history and a brief sampling of some of the forgotten teachings of Unity founders, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. The Fillmores lived in alignment with their values and were in action in the world as ambassadors of love and peace at all levels, for all beings. They are exemplars of Eden travelers and Whole Planet Spirituality. Next year's Whole Planet Spirituality retreat at Unity Village is set for October 19-22, 2023. Here are the Charles Fillmore quotes shared in this podcast: “The master on the spiritual plane is not a slave driver. He does not use force. The only law that he recognizes is love. To this law he must be true in all its ramifications throughout the universe of forms. He must love every creature, every beast in the field, every fowl of the air. His love must flow forth in protecting streams when any creature is in danger of violence or destruction. He must recognize all life as God's life, destined by a wise arrangement to be in its right place wherever he finds it. Thus he cannot in any way sanction the killing of animals for food.” “Flesh-Eating Metaphysically Considered,” 1910 “But in the matter of animal slaughter, who countenances it or defends it, after his eyes have been opened to the unity of life? Yet every time we eat meat we are accessories of those who committed the overt act. We stand, in the sight of the moral law, exactly where the receivers of stolen goods stand in the civil law.” From “Education and Temperance,” November, 1933 “There is a relation between thinking and eating, and as you grow spiritually the character of your food and all that pertains to eating may have to be changed in conformity with the new order of things. If you will leave meat and all animal products out of your food you will see a change for the better.” Atom-Smashing Power of Mind “We need never look for universal peace on this earth until men stop killing animals for food. The lust for blood has permeated the race thought and the destruction of life will continue to repeat its psychology the world round, until men willingly observe the law in all phases of life, ‘Thou shalt not kill.'” From “The Vegetarian,” May, 1920 NOTE: The rate of animal slaughter in the USA is 1 million per hour. If humans were decimated at that rate, it would be equivalent to the populations of New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Antonio and San Diego (the eight most populous US cities) disappearing in a single day. And then again the next day. Every day. That is a lot of killing.

Dough explains how the self-management, empowerment, and regenerative nature of this business model works to get remarkable results for residents, the community, and the taxpayers as a whole. Rev. Shirley Lawson is a licensed Universal Foundation for Better Living Ordained Minister (ufbl.org). Rev. Shirley graduated from Trinity International University, majoring in Organizational Leadership/Communication. She also received a Bachelor of Metaphysical Science, B. Msc. Degree, and Metaphysical Practitioners Diploma from the University of Metaphysics. In 2003, she was invited to an open house of In the Spirit (a recovery home for women) by Pam, a woman at Christ Universal Temple (CUT) where Shirley has attended since the 70's. During the tour, she felt so moved. She heard a voice say you will be teaching spirituality classes here. When the doors opened, Shirley started. She was invited by Reverend Dr. Helen Carey. Rev Helen called her into her office and asked her if she would start to teach and she said, wow, yes.Later, Rev. Lawson founded the Great Lakes Transformational Empowerment Ministries -which provides spiritual support classes for women and men in recovery in 2003. This ministry has been empowering people so that their lives can be transformed. Her message has helped them break free from addictions and realize their divine potential. Once the person leading meditations at CUT stepped down, Rev. Johnnie Colemon asked Shirley to lead that ministry. She said yes. This was after Shirley's first husband died from an overdose years before. Shirley later would lead Meditators for Better Living at CUT for several years.Shirley is the Founder and Spiritual Director of the Meditative Life Ministries, Inc. (Meditative Life Ministries | Facebook) - a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to helping people live more mindful and meditative lives. Its vision is: “People everywhere improving their lives and communities through meditative practices.”Rev. Shirley learned from her own personal meditative practice. She was happier. She felt less stressed. Depressing thoughts were lessoning significantly. She had better focus. I had more peace within and felt an overall sense of well- being. She knew that they would benefit greatly from learning how to meditate and how to practice the presence of God through prayer and meditation.Shirley also studied at the Midwest Center for the Study of Oriental Medicine. For years, she studied massage therapy, shiatsu injunction, and more. She does the tapping meditations for people as well, also known as emotional freedom technique (EFT). One of Rev. Shirley's grandest accomplishments was to spearhead the honoring of Reverend Dr. Johnnie Colemon with a commemoration service and dedication of a plaque in honor of her work and for being the first African American to live on the grounds of Unity Village. Unity's Mayor David Vest and the Board of Trustees honored Dr. Colemon with a Proclamation making August 24, 2016 - Reverend Dr. Johnnie Colemon Day at Unity Village.Rev. Reverend Sylvia E. Sumter is the Senior Minister of Unity of Washington, DC and has served in this position since 1991. Prior to her tenure there, she served as the Chairperson of Communication Studies and Skills Department for the Unity School of Religious Studies, in Unity Village, Missouri. She was licensed as a Minister in 1986 and ordained as a Unity Minister in 1987. Rev. Sumter has a Masters of Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and an Associate of Arts in Business Administration. When Rev. Sylvia came to Unity Village, she was required to stay on the campus for her own safety as a Black woman living in Lee Summit, Missouri. After graduation, she became an instructor to maintain a representation of a person of color in leadership replacing Rev. Sally Taylor. She is a natural and gifted spiritual teacher. She counsels through a lived experience. Rev. Sylvia continues to help others expand their spiritual consciousness and vision by living in the awareness of the Divine through prayer, meditation and practicing spiritual principles for living life fearlessly and with authenticity.Rev. Sumter sees Unity of Washington, DC as a beacon of light and she sees her church serving by keeping the high watch in the nation's capital. She learned from Eric Butterworth to stand on principles and use them. She knows that we need audacious faith to handle uncertainty. She invites us to move with deep trust and embrace the uncertainty. She lets her congregation see her walk, so she can share her story of surrendering to what she knows. She shows them how she lets the Divine guide her because she is subject to have any experience. She demonstrates what it looks like to get back on that horse using principles. By doing so, she eliminates the thought that there is a mythical bar to reach. She shows that she too can forget the truth, but she knows how to get back to It. She wants them to know that all of this is a spiritual experience. And we can do this.Rev. Sylvia has had many mystical moments including several time warps. She's aware that the spiritual dimension is not qualified by simply time, space and matter. We cannot put confines on how Spirit shows up. God cannot be limited. We must shed the old paradigm of being a physical being but embrace being a spiritual being. The next evolution is a spiritual one. Everything breaks down, including the physical barriers. The veil is being lifted. The curtain has been rent. There is another dimension. Let's own these powers. Being a spiritual being is not lip service. We are to step into the Christ. Miracles are the working of higher spiritual laws. It's an exciting time. We are showing the way, being light bearers. Here's the way. Walk in it. Be masters of energy. She quotes Dr. King: "For evil to prosper, good people are to do nothing." We must speak. The meek shall inherit the earth. It's time to rise up together. She belongs to the group Evolutionary Leaders (along with Deepak Chopra and other luminaries). Her website is unityofwashingtondc.org. Rev. Celeste's guest today is Rev. D. Jacquelyn Edwards, an ordained Centers for Spiritual Living (CSL) minister. Rev. D. Jacquelyn served as the senior minister/spiritual director of the First Church of Religious Science - Vallejo. She is an instructor at Holmes Institute (Home - Holmes Institute). She is on the Spiritually Motivated Socially Engaged (SMSE) council as a path to justice and peace.SMSE is the vocal arm of the Spiritual Leader of Centers for Spiritual Living (About Us - Centers for Spiritual Living (csl.org)). Centers for Spiritual Living's vision is to create a world that works for everyone. SMSE encourages the CSL communities to treat (pray) and take action as well to serve that vision.Rev. D. Jacquelyn is a team member of the Juneteenth Symposium, "Honoring Freedom" (https://www.honoringfreedom.website/schedule) When she arrived in California, she wasn't aware of Juneteenth (Juneteenth - Wikipedia). "Honoring Freedom" will reveal wisdom through the presenters. The event takes place on June 18th and 19th. It is a virtual celebration of Freedom and a fundraiser for "Celebrating Our Soul", an all New Thought Conference where all will come together and celebrate the African contribution to these United States. We seek to both heighten the African-American presence in New Thought and share New Thought to people of African Descent. We can bring all of who we are to this New Thought Movement. The Celebrating Our Soul Conference by People of African Descent will be at Unity Village in Missouri, in August of 2022. Rev. Celeste is a co-chair of the Program Team for this event. After working in the Civil Rights Movement, D. Jacquelyn knew that business acumen, strong program-based education and skills were necessary, so she studied public administration. Her mother and Rev. Ernie Forks (an early minister at East Bay Church [ebcrs.org]) taught her about Religious Science. In the book, "What Color Is Your Parachute?" (Bolles, Richard N., Brooks EdD, Katharine: 9781984857866: Amazon.com: Books), she noticed ministers, social workers and teachers were in the same corner - service. It was a natural flow for her. While studying for ministry, D. Jacquelyn's class made an impact that resulted in the establishment of a CSL Diversity Commission. The class discussion on race was explosive. As a result, in 2011, CSL leadership reformatted the annual conference to include more African-American speakers and an educational component on diversity. D. Jacquelyn presented Shakti Butler's (About | World Trust (world-trust.org)) work and some walked out. Nine years later at a minister's conference, Shakti Butler was received as a resounding success.Rev. Following up on the discussion started on Dr. Pat's Show. The episode is inspired by a Unity Village mailer on grief. Grief is personal, private, and usually explored alone. I am going public with my grief and sharing the loss I have in my life. My loss has changed the trajectory of my life and I'd like to share what I've learned on how to move forward. Please join me in this special episode, you won't want to miss it.
What is prosperity? Is it solely experienced on a physical level when you are surrounded by symbols of wealth and riches? Or is it a peaceful state of mind without any worries, illness, or stress? One thing is for sure . . . there is an unlimited supply for anyone willing to understand the principles that shape your perception of prosperity and wealth. Understanding that supply means more than just meeting our need for air, food, water, and shelter. Ingraham helped the world to see the spiritual side of supply as the inner foundation of peace and happiness from within. These are the principles E.V. Ingraham (1882-1978) wrote about in WELLS OF ABUNDANCE while active at Unity Village in Lee s Summit Missouri over 80 years ago. He joined the staff at Unity School in 1919 and organized the Sales department that supplied literature to Unity centers. “It’s time. It’s time to let it go,” said Rev. Paulette Pipe on trusting your deepest intuitions. And Paulette does just that. Her life embodies trust and faith, as well as surrender to the deeper forces around and within us. A minister who served formerly as Spiritual Director of the UK Unity headquarters, and then manager of the Retreats department at Unity Village, Rev. Paulette left her full-time job, with benefits, to follow her inner voice and work for free – “doing the thing I loved most…hosting my podcast.” She leads Touching the Stillness Ministries, a vibrant organization she created to make meditation and mindfulness both practical and accessible for daily application. She is a meditation teacher with the goal of increasing a sense of well-being in anyone who feels lost, confused, or like their Inner Stillness is getting a bit too rowdy to handle. Paulette’s Touching the Stillness Ministries provides tools and resources for meditation and mindfulness that emphasize finding and sustaining a sense of inner stillness. She acknowledges the challenges that come with learning to meditate when one is desperately striving for inner peace, but also notes how beneficial it has been for her to engage with it. In fact, she writes that “Meditation...is the spiritual gift that gets me out of bed.” Inspired by three stones on her vision board, Paulette hopes to assist people in finding “Stillness, Love, and Peace” through the experience she has cultivated as “Touching the Stillness.” Paulette takes a compassionate approach to beginning meditators – she lists out guidelines for them that include pointers such as the fact that meditation can happen at any moment, and preparing beforehand is important. Her guided meditations are available on platforms like Youtube, Unity Online Radio, Itunes, Spotify, SoundCloud, and more. Paulette’s innovative meditation techniques, which include practices such as Affirmative Prayers and a Dance Your Own Dance Meditation, aim to make meditation an accessible asset daily. She draws on multiple forms of expression – she dances, journals, drums, sings and travels. With her mesmerizing voice, and distinctive gift of affirmative healing prayers and meditations that stir the soul, she masterfully creates rich, sacred experiences from a range of traditional and unexpected mindful and meditation practices. Currently residing in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City, Paulette is British-born and hails from London, England. She has a BA in Ministerial Studies. Her career, before answering the call to ministry, was as a professional fund-raising manager (development officer) for a number of medium-sized national UK charities, including Motability (a charity for disabled drivers), the Down’s Syndrome Association, and the Women’s Institute, where she was also merchandising manager of its trading arm, WI Enterprises. Prior to that, she was a qualified business and trade magazine journalist, “who once got nominated for a prestigious industry award, the name of which eludes me now!” Rev. Paulette holds the role of Keeper of the Flame on Unity Worldwide Ministries’ Board of Trustees, where she maintains a sacred prayer space—generally doing so in silence—during the board’s deliberations and decision-making process at all of its board meetings; and is the liturgist for the assembly during the organization’s Annual General Meeting. She is a member of the Evolutionary Leaders Circle, a project of the Source of Synergy Foundation, where she also serves as its Keeper of the Flame during online meetings and events. She also led and created the Opening Ceremony at the Institute of Noetic Sciences Competition, as well as co-emceeing and presenting a breakout group. Paulette provides a “spiritual oasis” for those who are either religious, spiritual, none, or both. Reverend Unity Bass, a Unity Minister, once remarked that being with Paulette felt like “[touching] the Stillness through her...She is so connected to the Source that it radiates right into my own soul.” Please join us in conversation with Paulette, an inspiring, creative meditation leader who has committed herself to democratizing meditation for those of us who crave it!

Here is an early talk of Charles Fillmore, given at a Wednesday Evening Healing Service on December 12, 1912. The talk was almost 105 years ago, but the core message is still timely. The talk is titled "All That God Is, I AM." He focuses on the term "I AM" and its powerful significance when we speak it in our lives and in Truth statements. He also does a dream interpretation. Unity Village at one time had a Dream Interpretation Department where one could write in their dream, and the dream would be interpreted by Unity staff.

Today is another Revs. Bob and Margie Brach show! We will be sharing Charles Fillmore's talk "Righteous Desire" from December 3, 1933. Mr. Fillmore did a talk with the same title in November of 1931. I shared that talk on my show on June 23, 2009, back when I was at Unity Village and broadcasting from Mr. Fillmore's former office in the Education Building! What fun that was, and .... it still is ... sharing these timeless messages of our cofounder.

What might we learn from such forays into our imagination? Can it make life better today? We'll explore these questions this week on Pop Conscious!

Dr. Shepherd's guests this week are both familiy members—someone old, someone new. Rachel Simpson is a graduating senior at Unity Institute® and Seminary. On May 3 she married William Emerson Shepherd, Dr. Tom's middle son. Those in the Unity Village area know Bill as the campus cop who used to hang out at the coffee shop (where Rachel worked when not in classes at UI). This week on Let's Talk About It, the newlyweds will discuss their excitement in starting a new marriage and finding a new home when soon-to-be "Rev. Rachel" lands her first job as an ordained Unity minister. Generations of preachers' wives have endured/enoyed their unofficial role as "first lady" of This-or-That church. What's it like being the minister's husband? Tune in and share the laughter and high hopes.
Coach Carla's guest is Sarah McLean, Hay House author and founder of the McLean Meditation Institute. Sarah's intention is to have meditation be very user-friendly. Sarah does meditation retreats in Sedona, Arizona, at the Omega Institute, and at Unity Village called “Soul Radiance Retreat.” She also facilitates a very popular writing retreat.
Did you know Charles Fillmore as into bodybuilding? Well, he was ... but not the way you might think, with barbells, dumbells and gym workouts. Charles believed we can develop our bodies by using our minds. Today's talk is a lesson that Charles gave at the Unity Conference and Healing Revival held at Unity Farm (as Unity Village was called then) on Wednesday, July 11, 1923. This is a long lesson so it is only me on the show sharing these wonderful words of Charles and then giving my ideas on the lessons as well as some interesting background info I find. The lesson is entitled "Temple of the Living God."
Today's talk is about the twin powers of Will and Understanding that make up our Christ nature. This is an undated lesson that Charles Fillmore gave either at the Unity Ninth and Tracy location in Kansas City, Missouri, or at Unity Farm as Unity Village was first known. My special guest is Rev. Karen Schindler, co-minister of Unity of Auburn (California).
Host and DJ Dale Worley travels to the Unity Online Radio studios at Unity Village, Missouri, for the annual World Day of Prayer celebration.
