Let's go to the mall! But one specific mall that isn't there anymore! (Well, it's sort of still there, but not really.) We're joined by Gleaming the Tube's Kevin Cafferty to look back on the Lincoln Mall in Lincoln, Rhode Island (frighteningly close to Woonsocket). It wasn't the biggest mall, it wasn't the best mall, but it was our mall. And our Lincoln Mall memories include: Waldenbooks, our primary source of X-Men comics, Bloom County collections, and Tolkien; sketchy sausage samples at Hickory Farms; failed attempts to meet girls at the movies; the freaky pet store; the inexplicable organ store; the restaurant no one went to (Roast House); the restaurant everyone went to, because there were two of them in the same mall (Papa Gino's); the neverending weirdness of Spencer Gifts; and the glory of the Dream Machine video arcade. Also: Andre the Giant eating spaghetti! The sticker girl phenomenon! Our first comic book shop experiences! Our first dishwashing experiences! Record store employees with attitudes! Randy the Talking Reindeer! The Challenge of the Checkers Champion! A mall visit from Spider-Man! A ring of car stereo thieves! Rhode Island's own John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band! And yikes, so much more... Even if you never visited the Lincoln Mall, we know there's a mall or two in your past, so you can relate. In a way, we're all still lost among the overflowing bins of cheap junk at Kay Bee Toys. Kevin's podcast about movies with skateboarding, Gleaming the Tube! And our regular links... In just a short period, Lunchbox has established itself as the premiere product in the digital ordering space, partnering with industry leaders such as Firehouse Subs, Papa Gino's, Clean Juice, Wings Over, Bareburger and more.Today's show is NOT about Lunchbox. It is about AI and the new, free AI application that can be found online to allow restaurants generate food pictures for their online ordering guests. So to me, the purpose of technology and where technology fits in all of this to help us grow our bottom line is that it compresses the middle of the P&L. You know, it pushes efficiency so that the top line can grow faster and push more flow through down to the bottom. And by doing that, your people are freed up to help do what they need to do to push the top line, which is to process things faster, and get better customer relationships so that they come back more and are more loyal. And all of the things that come from that ultimately drive more business.” - Deena McKinley Time Stamps**(01:51) - Deena's career journey **(07:22) - What IS a Chief Experience Officer **(19:00) - Maintaining customer experience across a franchise **(31:48) - Deena's predictions for the future of her industry **(41:42) - Sid's final thoughts Sponsor:ServiceChannel brings you peace of mind through peak facilities performance.Rest easy knowing your locations are:Offering the best possible guest experienceLiving up to brand standardsOperating with minimal downtimeServiceChannel partners with more than 500 leading brands globally to provide visibility across operations, the flexibility to grow and adapt to consumer expectations, and accelerated performance from their asset fleet and service providers. Request a custom demo here. —Links Connect with Deena McKinley on LinkedInConnect with Sid Shetty on LinkedinCheck out the ServiceChannel Website

Papa Gino's is a restaurant chain based in Massachusetts that specializes in traditional thin crust pizza along with pasta, subs, salads, and a variety of appetizers. As of 2022, there are 81 Papa Gino's locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Kevin attributes his 10-year NFL career to helping him develop leadership and management skills that he uses today. Papa Gino's has an immense amount of love and respect from its New England fan base. That passion is fueled, in part, by the quality of the pizza and food it serves. Kevin and Papa Gino's look for vendors who will work with the brand as partners in a longer, continually-involving technological journey. Kevin isn't afraid to admit it, but he's a pineapple on pizza kind of guy – and so is Joseph. Quotes “The biggest benefit of my collective background is being able to fit in in any environment. I've had so many collective experiences that it allows me to connect with people naturally and organically.” (Kevin) “Technology is a part of every single department in this organization. You either have a say in this, or the technology is going to steamroll you.” (Joseph) “At the core, as long as you continue to deliver quality food and a quality experience, that cult (following) will continue.” (Kevin) “Pretty much every challenge in a restaurant is being tackled by a tech company right now. The two brands that form the focus of today's episode are close to my heart, not only because their food is absolutely delicious, but also because Papa Gino's and D'Angelo were the places where I worked my first and second jobs. Deena McKinley's career path started out seemingly a long way away from these iconic restaurants, but as you'll hear today, a lot of the skills she developed as an English teacher, have been very useful in her role as CMO. In this show, Deena and I discuss how she and her team have reignited these long-time favorite eateries through combining their historical allure with technological advancements. Technology and marketing are completely intertwined these days and Deena has a wealth of knowledge and experience in this realm. Deena shares what her three-pronged marketing approach consists of, what she has achieved since becoming CMO, why she doesn't see third-party delivery apps as a threat, and the importance of asking questions. All the talk of turkey sandwiches and cheeseburger subs will no doubt have your mouth watering, so make sure you have a Papa Gino's or D'Angelo is close by when you listen to this!

Airlines they're predicting. It's actually it's really hard for them to predict this because they said the changes in behavior are the hardest to model but they said course they said most recessions it takes 3 to 5 years for the airlines to come back in and they set out on top of this the fact that technology has gotten so good and behaviors change around webinars that sort of thing virtual meetings. It could be a 7 to 10 year run and we're talking about business travel for the right to write business travel and then of course Mrs how many people want to go to Vegas for a conference now me yeah I I'd like to go still.
