This week on Sports Guyz Only, the crew goes all-in on the biggest sporting event on the planet: the FIFA World Cup. Joey jumps into the studio for a soccer-heavy episode as the guys break down the tournament's biggest storylines, the best players in the world, and why this World Cup feels different than any before it.   The conversation starts with a debate over what actually qualifies as a sport before quickly shifting into World Cup fever. The guys discuss Lionel Messi's incredible start to the tournament, Cristiano Ronaldo's pursuit of history, Erling Haaland's dominance, and why France still looks like the team to beat. They also dive into Team USA's surprising run, whether the Americans can finally make a deep World Cup push, and why international soccer creates an atmosphere unlike any other sporting event.   Along the way, they explain how international eligibility works, debate dual citizenship in world soccer, and compare the different playing styles across Europe and South America. Plus, a spirited argument over the eternal question: Messi or Ronaldo? Joey gives his perspective as a longtime soccer fan, while the rest of the crew weighs pure talent versus longevity, work ethic, and overall impact on the game.   The guys also wander into plenty of classic Sports Guyz territory with discussions about Olympic athletes getting paid, the return of the Presidential Fitness Test, whether prestigious colleges actually matter in the real world, terrible fast-food chains, Waffle House adventures, and why Bojangles somehow became the most controversial topic of the night.   To close things out, they hit the latest NBA offseason rumors, Timberwolves trade possibilities, the future of Jaden McDaniels, Jaylen Brown speculation, and the staggering amount of money today's global superstars are making. From Ronaldo's Saudi contract to Messi's MLS deal, the crew wonders just how much money is too much—and whether any athlete is really worth a billion dollars.   Thanks so much for listening to Sports Guyz Only! The Presidential Fitness Test has been a gym class staple for decades. Generations of Americans have performed pull-ups, sit-ups, mile runs and flexibility tests under the watchful eye of their sweaty peers. In the end, a select group of kids were given the coveted Presidential Physical Fitness Award. At the time, it all seemed *so important*! But was it, actually? Whose idea was it? And did it accomplish what it set out to do? Remember, kids, history hoes always cite their sources! For this episode, Kristin pulled from: “A brief history of the bizarre and sadistic Presidential Fitness Test,” by Phil Edwards for Vox“Tools of the trade: The Presidential Physical Fitness test,” by Elissa Nadworny for NPR“The report that shocked the president,” by Robert Boyle for Sports Illustrated“The soft American,” by John F. Episode 51 finds Cam Cooksey flying solo with a packed house. He walks through Trump's True Social posts: drones dropping like butterflies in the Strait of Hormuz, the Iran "excursion" clocking in at just six weeks against Afghanistan's 543, an EU trade ultimatum tied to America's 250th birthday, and the Lula da Silva meeting that has everyone capitulating to the golden age. Trump's UFO/UAP file release sparks Cam's take on interdimensional beings, government grain-of-salt warnings, and a teaser for his upcoming Space Revolution appearance with General Quast on May 20. The Victory Day for World War Two proclamation gets a deeper read: Cam believes it may be signaling a current victory, not just a 1945 commemoration. The Presidential Fitness Test comes back with Bryson DeChambeau on pull ups and 90-year-old Gary Player doing push ups at the White House. Bobby Cox, Atlanta Braves legend, is remembered. Jim Brewer's "central casting" clip lands hard. And John Hart, the Declaration signer who hid in barns and caves, is the American of the Week.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stepped up to the White House podium as acting press secretary and delivered a crystal-clear message to the Iranian regime. In a fiery briefing, Rubio laid out Iran's only two paths forward: Take the diplomatic off-ramp offered by President Trump and choose reconstruction, prosperity, and stability — or face "growing isolation, economic collapse, and, ultimately, total defeat." This comes as tensions remain high over control of the Strait of Hormuz, with energy prices spiking after Iran's disruptive actions. Rubio made it clear that the U.S. is not seeking war but will respond decisively if provoked. We also cover:  Gas prices continue to RISE around the U.S.  Who will be the GOP 2028 candidate?  President Trump brings back the Presidential Fitness Test. Do you remember Dr. Anthony Fauci? JD Vance visits Iowa. Rubio's performance shows exactly why President Trump picked a battle-tested fighter like him to lead on the world stage. No weakness. No apologies. Just strength and clarity. This is what real leadership looks like — putting America First and refusing to let rogue regimes like Iran hold the world hostage. Turn on notifications so you never miss updates. Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. The Deadliest Stretch Clay Travis and Buck Sexton discuss the escalating crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route for oil and natural gas. Clay and Buck analyze how Iran-related instability is disrupting maritime traffic, reducing the number of ships passing through the region by a significant margin and contributing to elevated oil prices hovering near $100 per barrel. They emphasize that the price of oil and gas is now the most important domestic political issue, directly affecting everything from transportation costs to consumer sentiment and electoral outcomes. A key segment features Clay proposing a bold economic solution: the U.S. government providing insurance guarantees for commercial ships traveling through the Strait of Hormuz. He argues that this would immediately restore confidence in the shipping industry, stabilize global supply chains, and potentially reduce oil prices by as much as $20 per barrel. Buck pushes back, raising concerns about crew safety, real-world risk tolerance, and whether financial guarantees can overcome fear of physical harm in a conflict zone. This debate highlights the complexity of balancing economic policy, national security, and human behavior in crisis situations. Would You Do It? A caller explains that traditional maritime insurers are refusing to cover ships in the region, which reinforces the seriousness of the threat and lends credibility to the idea that government intervention might be necessary to restore normal trade flow. The hosts also point out a critical long-term issue: even if ships can safely exit the Strait, many companies may refuse to send vessels back in, prolonging disruption to global energy markets. Presidential Fitness Test Clay and Buck discuss the return of the Presidential Fitness Test, sparking nostalgic commentary about physical fitness standards and generational differences. They also dive into humorous and off-topic discussions about dangerous jobs, maritime risks, shark attacks, and survival scenarios, tying these anecdotes back into the broader theme of risk tolerance and decision-making under uncertainty. Is Cuba Next? An interview with Florida House Speaker Daniel Perez, adding a major political component to the broadcast. Perez provides insight into the ongoing crisis in Cuba, describing severe economic and humanitarian conditions under the current regime, including shortages of food, energy, and healthcare. He advocates for continued U.S. pressure, sanctions, and economic restrictions, aligning with what he describes as the Trump administration’s strategy of forcing regime change through sustained pressure. The conversation also touches on U.S.–Cuba policy, Cuban American political influence, and the role of Secretary of State Marco Rubio in shaping foreign policy toward the island. The discussion then shifts to Venezuela, where Perez describes a more optimistic trajectory following leadership changes, noting economic improvement and increased stability, but warns that the absence of clear plans for democratic elections remains a significant concern. He emphasizes that without free and fair elections, Venezuela risks reverting to authoritarian governance, underscoring broader themes of democracy, socialism, and U.S. influence in Latin America. Domestically, the interview covers Florida redistricting and election strategy, with Perez explaining that recent map changes reflect population growth and shifting demographics rather than purely partisan goals. He highlights Florida’s economic growth, migration trends, and tax advantages as key drivers of its political momentum, while acknowledging that legal challenges to the new maps are likely. This segment ties into broader national conversations about redistricting battles, midterm election implications, and Republican electoral strategy. Jon Herold is doing his best to stay optimistic today and the DOJ is making it easier than usual. A federal grand jury subpoena dated April 17 demands the names, addresses, and personal phone numbers of every single person who worked in Fulton County during the 2020 election, and Jon thinks that is a very good sign. Trump also reinstated the Presidential Fitness Test that Obama killed in 2013, Jon reads the benchmarks out loud, and immediately commits to earning the award on camera. The UAE just withdrew from OPEC after 58 years, and Jon breaks down what that means for oil prices post-Iran war, including the possibility of $2 gasoline if the cartel collapses entirely. Trump went on record saying Democrats have to cheat because their policies are too unpopular to win any other way, and Jon asks the logical follow-up question nobody wants to answer: so what does it mean if the midterms happen without fixing the cheating? Also: Elon Musk paid a $1.7 million SEC settlement that is genuinely peanuts to him, the DOJ is going after the ABA's law school accreditation monopoly, and a Michigan judge dismissed felony charges against a 2020 election clerk in a case that mirrors Tina Peters almost exactly.

Americans are rediscovering calisthenics — simple, equipment-free exercises like squats, pushups, and planks — as an effective way to build strength, endurance, and mobility without relying on a gym Bodyweight training activates multiple muscle groups at once, improving balance, flexibility, and cardiovascular health while also supporting joint stability and posture Calisthenics delivers measurable gains in strength and power, often matching conventional gym workouts when done consistently and with proper form Real-world examples highlight dramatic transformations — some gaining 40 pounds of muscle in a year — proving that progressive calisthenics and discipline build a lean, powerful, and functional physique The revival of the Presidential Fitness Test and nationwide interest in functional fitness reflect a growing return to natural movement and self-reliance — helping people get stronger, leaner, and more confident using just their own bodyweight

Some episodes wander. This one sprints from childhood trauma (aka the Presidential Fitness Test pull-up requirement) to the ethics of free speech on social media, to guts literally spilling outside the body in a crash course on gastroschisis and omphalocele. Kristin and I also talk about why doctors get in trouble online, how to avoid losing your job with one bad post, and the weird dynamic of being expected to comment on every news story. Oh and did I mention I went on a podcast where they gave me nitrous oxide and then grilled me about eyeballs? Spoiler: turns out laughing gas doesn't shut me up about ophthalmology. It's equal parts silly, nerdy, and serious: political violence, embryology, dental confessions, and the eternal truth that flossing beats cavities every time. Takeaways: The Pull-Up Curse – Why the Presidential Fitness Test scarred an entire generation. Free Speech ≠ Free Consequences – How social media can cost you more than followers. Political Violence Isn't the Answer – A reminder we apparently still need to say out loud. Ventral Wall Defects 101 – Gastroschisis vs. Omphalocele, explained with minimal gagging. At the end of July, President Donald Trump signed an executive order reinstating the presidential fitness test. The test was administered in public schools around the country from 1950 to 2012, when it was ended by President Barack Obama. After health columnist Gretchen Reynolds heard the news, she put out a call to Post readers asking about their memories of the presidential fitness test. Hundreds responded, many of them sharing vivid memories of humiliation and shame associated with the test. Elahe Izadi speaks with Gretchen about the origins of the test, what this new iteration of the test might look like, and what experts say about whether the test actually combats things like obesity and inactivity in young people. Ghislaine Maxwell got upgraded to the cushy prison commonly known as “Club Fed” with Elizabeth Holmes & Jenn Shah while NPR and PBS basically get defunded out of existence after Congress slashed funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Sixteen states are also suing Trump's admin for allegedly threatening doctors who provide gender-affirming care. Republicans in the Texas State House released their plans to redraw the state's congressional map this week. It's a nakedly partisan gambit to maximize GOP wins in next year's midterm elections, all at the behest of President Donald Trump. In response, some Democrats want the party to fight fire with fire. California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom said Thursday he wants a special election in a bid to offset Texas's shenanigans. Justin Levitt, a constitutional law professor at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and a former White House senior advisor to the Biden Administration, lays out the stakes for this mid-cycle redistricting war and why all of us should care. And in headlines: Trump slaps a 35 percent tariff on Canada after complaining about the country's plans to recognize a Palestinian state, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee and Special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff are headed to Gaza, and Trump signs an executive order to bring back the Presidential Fitness Test to schools.Show Notes:Call Congress – 202-224-3121Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/3kk4nyz8What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcastFollow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday
