On this episode, Zen Friend and fan favorite, Don Richards is back to talk interior design on a budget. We will talk about some common problem areas that can be challenging to make beautiful in homes. We will also talk about how to make your home work for you now instead of decorating for a fantasy self. Ever wondered what your options are for an easy fix for a popcorn ceiling or mirrored closet doors? Is it ever a smart choice to refinish or DYI kitchen cabinets? Should you follow the Pinterest trend of using lots of matching baskets? Don answers all these questions and more! And stay tuned till the end of the episode when Don makes an exciting announcement!Don's Bio: Consumed by architecture, design, and home since childhood, Don graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia with a degree in Historic Preservation. For the last thirty years, his obsession with home has seen him in the worlds of interior design, visual merchandising, and real estate. A Litchfield County native, Don has designed spaces in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, and Florida, while vowing never again to work in NYC because of elevator constraints. Can a sofa be disassembled and put back together? The answer is yes. Should it be? LOL, the answer is no. He believes the key to a space being home is personality and quirk. Try and think outside the box with vintage and unique. Look toward the architectural style of the property and let that guide you. If you love it, it will usually work. The Florida State Seminoles rushing attack looked a lot more to what was envisioned in the preseason as they rolled through Virginia Tech en route to a 39-17 victory. The Noles certainly appeared to use the bye week to work on and improve on some of their struggles — first and foremost that run game. Trey Benson easily cleared their previous season-high of 79 yards when he posted 200 yards on just 11 carries. His 18.2 yards per rush was the highest-ever mark for a Florida State back, according to ESPN Stats and Info. This week, the Seminole Wrap crew — Brian Pellerin, Jon Marchant and Ben Meyerson — looks at some of those adjustments made to get the wheels churning for the offense. The other main question mark was the defense's ability to get off the field on third down and, again, they appeared to have made the necessary adjustments over the bye week as they held VT to 2 of 13 on third. Have the Seminoles figured out those problem areas for good or was it more a product of Virginia Tech's limitations? Plus, we look ahead to next week's contest with Syracuse — what challenges could the Orange present for FSU and where can the Noles take advantage of some Syracuse weak spots? Do you remember waiting in line at school for square pizza and chocolate milk? This seemingly everyday ritual holds the key to significant and meaningful change within our education system. Today, we delve deep into the fascinating world of The School Lunch Program and its potential for transformative impact. We're joined by Dr. Jennifer Gaddis, an associate professor at The University of Wisconsin-Madison, known for her compelling research on school food and the systems and politics surrounding it. With over 30 million students participating in school meal programs daily, we explore the historical context and the challenges faced by these programs, such as dealing with stigma, shame, and access to quality nutrition. Furthermore, we touch on environmental justice and the farm-to-school program, spotlighting the importance of fostering strong relationships between local communities, farmers, and the education sector. As we tackle labor issues and financial challenges faced by schools in providing scratch cooking options, we also celebrate the inspiring stories of schools and organizations making positive changes in lunch programs across the nation. Ultimately, Dr. Gaddis encourages us all to participate in the school lunch program, as that is the most likely way to create a system that serves all kids, our environment, and food service workers best. I was pleased to have Amanda Bresler and Alex Bresler back on the podcast to discuss their newest Naval Postgraduate School symposium paper on the composition of small businesses in the defense industry. Amanda is the Chief Strategy Officer at PW Communications, and Alex is the Chief Data Officer. They found that small business funding grew 68 percent between 2015 to 2021, but at the same time the total number of small businesses shrank 23 percent. That can only mean the small business players are, on average, getting bigger. Indeed, the number of small businesses receiving more than $100 million per year in defense prime contracts grew three-fold over those six years (from 26 to 84). By comparison, the number of small businesses with less than $1 million fell 32 percent (from 34,205 to 23,337). This podcast was produced by Eric Lofgren. Successful speech communication is easily received by the listener and engages the audience's attention. - YOU have the ability to make people feel and take action. - You have the choice to offer a suggestion rather than a demand. - You have the ability to guide the listener into accepting and adopting your message as their own. That's the power of words, how you deliver the message, and own the results as a voice actor, podcaster, public speaker, sales person, or presenter. On today's episode, Matt and Big Dave offer their thoughts from the Bulls preseason finale against the Memphis Grizzlies and the final roster cuts made over the weekend. Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso continued to impress on defense, but Zach LaVine is still getting caught ball-watching on the weak side. And just how bad is DeMar DeRozan's defense? Well, we got a glimpse on Friday. Still, there were plenty of positives from the game, like Nikola Vucevic's efficient scoring night and a spirited 4th quarter comeback from the second unit. The guys wrap the show with a few thoughts on Stanley Johnson getting cut and Matt Thomas appearing to make the final 15.Call or text the show: (331) 979-1369Support us by supporting our sponsors! | Offers from our sponsors:PrizePicks - Don't hesitate, check out PrizePicks.com and use promo code: “NBA” or go to your app store and download the app today. In this episode of the podcast I discuss why old injuries may kick up again during this newly imposed lockdown. I've noticed a large increase in the number of people contacting me about areas previously injured getting sore or tight again since Christmas, even though they haven't changed too much. I speak on what may be contributing to the pain, how your environment may be affecting it as well as different techniques to help work on these problem areas. This episode provides different options to help you work on historically problem areas or areas of tightness & restriction that may be acting up again this lockdown. Disclaimer: If you are concerned about pain it is always extremely important to get assessed by a medical professional or healthcare professional as soon as possible. **This is not medical advice**
