Ken and Anthony dig into Mike Florio's surprising take that Todd Monken should've weighed Browns fans' hatred for Deshaun Watson when deciding on a starter, and explain why they think Monken actually did consider it by opening up a real competition instead of just handing Watson the job. The guys break down what that QB competition really signals about the state of the quarterback room, and admit they don't expect much from Watson even with a fresh start. Plus, a Fan 15th anniversary aside turns into some good-natured family ribbing about Ken's lifelong devotion to Dale Earnhardt.

The Kluver and Eickholt Power Hour returns and we start by discussing Iowa basketball recruiting, including five-star point guard Daughtry's official visit during the Cy-Hawk game and another 6'10" recruit visiting later in the month, plus brief WNBA/FIBA talk. They run through FanDuel Big Ten win totals (Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin at 6.5) and project Nebraska under with a tough schedule while leaning Minnesota and Wisconsin over. For Iowa football, they emphasize concerns about PAT/field goal consistency, optimism about punting and returns, and the ongoing QB competition between Jeremy Hacklinski and Hank Brown, with both expected to play and Hacklinski viewed as having an edge. They also cover Cael Winter winning the starting center job over Cade Peeper (who stays at guard), strong OL depth, RB room confidence, FCS transfer development, early-season goals, bold predictions (Lutmer punt return TD; Tony Diaz scoring first TD), and Brandon Scherff as the 2026 ANF honoree, before promoting HawkeyeInsider/Swarmcast's live schedule. Gelb shares his takeaways from Malik Willis' sit-down with Crowder on the Pivot. ACC Analyst Eric Mac Lain joins the show and calls Darian Mensah the best QB in the country. In hour one, recapping Crowder's sit-down with Malik Willis on the Pivot. Pointing out how different Tua and Malik are as individuals. Plus, ACC Analyst Eric Mac Lain joins the show and calls Darian Mensah the best QB in the country.
Connor and Mike break down Rhule and Holgorsen's comments on how to handle Anthony Colandrea going into the 2026 season as Nebraska's new QB.
Fresh off Emory Hunt's take, Ken and Anthony dig into the uncomfortable question hanging over the Browns' QB decision: is Deshaun Watson starting because he earned it, or because of his contract? The two get into why they're reluctant to call Shedeur Sanders a "gamer," why that word carries more baggage than people realize, and what it would actually mean if Todd Monken is deliberately starting the wrong guy. They also can't resist bringing Dillon Gabriel back into the conversation after his own preseason showing. It's a rare moment where Ken and Anthony don't fully agree with each other.
Ken and Anthony dig into Todd Monken's confusing claim that he hadn't really watched tape on a quarterback, trying to pin down whether he meant the preseason Bills game or Deshaun Watson's history with the Browns overall. Ken argues there's no way Monken took the job without evaluating Watson beforehand, and the two circle back to why Watson was even played in the meaningless Bills game if the staff wasn't putting stock in it, tying it to the QB's visible lack of confidence on the field.
Ken and Anthony dig deeper into the Todd Monken quarterback controversy, arguing that if he's lying about not watching Deshaun Watson's tape, it's a red flag for the whole hiring process, while noting the Browns' stockpile of first-round picks and cap space could make this a genuinely appealing landing spot for a future rookie quarterback. They play a clip of Monken insisting fan reaction never factors into his decisions, and debate whether that stubbornness will look admirable or tone-deaf if Watson struggles again in Jacksonville, with Ken suggesting Monken's approval rating has already taken a hit for choosing a QB much of the fanbase despises.
In the 1st hour of Stokely and Evans with Mark Schlereth, they look ahead to the beginning of both football seasons and talk about Kroenke’s big purchase yesterday. They hear what new Nuggets bad guy Peyton Watson had to say about his injury in the last playoffs. Was he the problem or is it yet another issue the the Nuggets’ training staff? The offseason of Bo slander continues, ESPN left him off their own Top 100 list, and Mike explains why he loves it. The guys wrap up the first hour on the text line responding to takes about the backup QB, Lamar Jackson, and Peyton Watson.
D-Lo spends hour three talking with Hunter Patterson from The Athletic and gets back to the QB conversation.
D-Lo wraps up his conversation with Trysta Krick and then talks about The Jump's QB tier list.
Atlanta Falcons General Manager Ian Cunningham speaks about the variety of extensions given out and the messages that sends, dealing with managing the roster and practice squad now that it's limited to 53, building a culture and identity in the span of just one offseason, bringing in Gervon Dexter in a trade with the Bears, the starting QB decision taking some time, what they may have found in Kendal Daniels and Harold Perkins, when not having a starting quarterback named would begin to impact the team, some of the Georgia players added to the team this season, and if college have reached out to him about players they may be cutting to add to their own roster.
Andy and Randy talk about if the Falcons are surprised that they haven't been able to name a starting QB yet.
Andy and Randy talk about how close to the season the QB competition is running and if it's about performance or simply Penix's readiness.
In Hour 1, Andy and Randy talk about the Braves loss to the Nationals, Falcons GM Ian Cunningham joins the show, and why neither QB was able to grab the starting role for the Falcons.
The Kansas City Chiefs have their initial 53-man roster. Where they got it right and where they got it wrong. Reaction to the final Preseason Game. Did the Chiefs need three QB's? No Mo Demercado! Four Tight Ends the right call? Only six WR's this year. Is 10 OL too many? Chiefs claim a DT off waivers.
