Hosted on Acast.
Unlock the “secret sauce” of consistent closes: tie-downs (aka micro-agreements). In this episode, we unpack how small, intentional yeses throughout your presentation create momentum, uncover misunderstandings early, and lead to a natural close—not a hard close. What you'll learn Why micro-agreements work: The psychology of agreement and Brian Tracy's law of incremental commitment. Where to use them: Rapport/CORE, stakes & urgency, education/presentation, budget framing, and the close. How to deliver them: Tone, timing, the power of the pause, and why consistency beats complexity. Real examples you can steal today: “That makes sense so far, right?” “You'd want this in place for your family, wouldn't you?” “Affordability is a priority for you, isn't it?” “If we find a plan that fits your budget and protects [NAMEs], you'd at least want to apply, right?” Analogies you'll remember Thermometer: keep “checking the temperature” so nothing goes cold. Tent tie-downs / trailer straps: secure each section so the whole sale doesn't blow away. Trail guide: move the fast, middle, and new learners together—everyone arrives at the summit. Try this challenge Add one simple tie-down to every section of your script this week and track them. Watch your confidence (and closes) climb. If this helped, subscribe, drop a comment with your favorite tie-down, and share with a teammate who needs more natural closes. #lifeinsurance #sales #telesales #closing #objectionhandling #LifeInsuranceAcademy

In this episode of Conversations for Couples, Julie and David Bulitt return to their roots with a guest-free conversation about emotional regulation, communication, and how to respond instead of react in your relationship. Inspired by a clip they came across on social media, the Bulitts unpack the powerful concept of being a thermostat—someone who sets the emotional tone—instead of a thermometer that merely reflects the mood of others or the environment. Through real-life examples (like spilled water on a laptop and the chaos of moving into a new house), they share how they've each succeeded and struggled with staying grounded during life's curveballs. They also dive into how this concept plays out between partners and explore the role of clarity, co-regulation, respect, and gratitude in building a stable, healthy connection. Whether you're in a new relationship or married for decades, this episode offers relatable stories and practical advice for being more intentional in your day-to-day life and relationship dynamics.

In the year 1603, just as Shakespeare was writing Othello and the reign of Elizabeth I was transitioning to James I, Galileo Galilei—famous for exploring the heavens—was also measuring the invisible. Among his lesser-known inventions was a device called the thermoscope, an elegant glass instrument that could detect changes in temperature—centuries before the modern thermometer. Today, we call it the Galilean thermometer, named after Galileo because he discovered the principle that the density of a liquid changes in proportion to its temperature—a concept that set the foundations for modern meteorology. To help us explore how Galileo made his discoveries, exactly how a Galilean thermometer works, and how these scientific advancements were received in Shakespeare's England, we're joined by Dr. Dario Camuffo, author of extensive research on Galileo's contributions to the measurement of temperature and the early development of thermometers. On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, you're going to get a chance to discover if you're a thermometer kind of person -or- a thermostat kind of person.Basically, a thermometer just records the temperature. It registers the warm or cold degrees of the room it's in and lets you know what's happening outside of you and around you. It's a reflector of a space. While a thermostat actually sets and changes the temperature. It has control and can affect the world around it.To illustrate this point, and to come at it from a different angle, I'll first share a personal story about encountering different types of people - some warm and welcoming, and others cold and off-putting.Then I'll dive deeper into things, by drawing inspiration from the originator of this concept, Dr. Henry Hitt Crane, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who also did a sermon about it.I explore how rather than just passively reacting to the environment around you like a thermometer, we get to be a "thermostat" who can work to change or improve the environment or community it finds itself in.The core message is that we have the power to choose who and how we want to be. Instead of being reactive to society – we can be proactive and actually transform it!Developing a Daily Spiritual Practice (DSP) can also help you train your mind to be more aware and intentional.Whether it's meditation, prayer, or simply setting an intention each morning, you can learn to be a thermostat - someone who transforms the temperature of their environment through love, empathy, kindness, warmth, and positive energy! KEY TAKEAWAYS:• Thermometer vs. Thermostat• Choose Your Energy Wisely• Be Proactive, Not Reactive• Set Your Inner Temperature• Make History, Don't Be Made By It• DSP + Mind Training• You Control Your Thermostat• Transform Society Through Love• The Nest - Group Mentoring Program BIO:Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, Writer, Integrative Change Worker, Coach and Hypnotist.
