“You can't fight for everything in life. But we all have a few things in our lives that are core to who we are, and that pull on us every single day. As much as you can endure, endure, because it's always worth it and it's bigger than you.” Running back Tim Hightower had all the momentum in the world heading into his fourth season in the NFL—a critical year, when contracts are renewed (or, in most cases, aren't). But a catastrophic ACL tear in a 2011 game, when Washington played Charlotte, took it all away in an instant. Tim didn't know it then, but it would be four years before he'd return to the field. That's right—he made his way back to pro level after a break that was longer than most players' total careers. In this week's episode, he takes us inside the pages of his revealing book, A Dream Worth Fighting For, to tell us all about how he did it—including the support he got from friends and family, the difficult decisions he made, and steps he took to overcome denial and anger and reframe success at each step along the way. Fantasy Football Podcast: Sonic Truth Ep 39: The Podfather Matt Kelley (@Fantasy_Mansion) and Nate Liss (@AnOutragedJew) continue their discussion of backfields to target in fantasy football dynasty leagues. Andy Reid is not a sorcerer with magical powers to make Kareem Hunt supplant Spencer Ware. Why bother owning Shane Vereen and Orleans Darkwa? Ty Montgomery has more in common with David Johnson than Theo Riddick. Lessons learned from Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman in 2016. Darren Sproles will be back at it helping fantasy games again in 2017. Better roster stash: Tim Hightower or Joe Williams? CJ Prosise is back to own in Seattle, and Eddie Lacy is becoming more and more difficult to keep rostered as demand rises. Monopolizing the Patriots backfield, a run-oriented team cloaked with a pass-first perceived. Humble Melvin Gordon dynasty owners are rostering Branden Oliver. Facing off against the accountability trolls. Advanced metrics, prospect evaluations, and fantasy football information were provided by PlayerProfiler.com
Head coach Kyle Shanahan and defensive coordinator Robert Saleh take the podium on day 1 of the offseason program to cover tons of information, including run defense, scheme fits at SAM, MIKE, WILL and LEO. It’s Week 14. The playoffs have begun in many fantasy football leagues. And that means the time for small talk is done. I could sit here and complain about the dud that New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees posted in Week 13, and how that dud killed many a fringe playoff team’s chances this year. Or I could complain about how Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers has been doing that all season long. But you don’t want to hear about that. I could gripe about the soul-sucking void of fantasy nothingness that is Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley in 2016. How that fact that I passed on fantasy stud David Johnson for Gurley in at least one league will haunt me for the rest of my days on this earth. But you don’t care. No, you want to know if Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones will play in Week 14 after suffering the most ill-timed toe injury in fantasy history – approximately. And if Jones sits out, you want to know which wideouts might help salvage your season. You want to know if New Orleans Saints tailback Mark Ingram will play through his toe injury (what is it with toes in 2016? Get better shoes, guys!), or if fantasy owners dare trust Tim Hightower after his nine-yard faceplant last week. Those Saints were real dream-killers in Week 13. You want to know whether old man winter will screw Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Whether Robert Griffin’s return at quarterback for Cleveland will help or hurt Terrelle Pryor. In other words – you want to win. Thursday December 8 at 7 PM Eastern, Fantasy Sharks staff writers Gary Davenport, Walton Spurlin and Todd Latzke will break down Week 14 – giving you all the info you need to do just that. Come on in – the water’s FINE. Call-In Number: (347) 826-9620
