What happens when two Haitian-American daughters of first generation immigrants—raised in dual worlds, fluent in soul, struggle, and storytelling—finally sit down to talk like the mics aren't even on?This is that moment. In this dream-come-true episode, I sit down with the incomparable Tracy G—media multi-hyphenate, sound healer, writer, and co-host of Sway in the Morning—for one of the most intimate, raw, and affirming conversations I've ever had on this podcast. We talk culture, growth and evolution, navigating media spaces, the power of softness in Black womanhood, and why embracing our contradictions is revolutionary. We go there: • Healing from imposter syndrome while living in the spotlight • Balancing divinity and career • Decolonizing success as first-gen creatives • How to hold joy in one hand and grief in the other • And why now is the time to use our voices like sacred weaponsIf you've ever felt unseen in the room you worked so hard to get into, or you're learning how to turn your own volume up in a world that keeps trying to mute you—this one's for you. This isn't just a podcast episode. This is a reckoning. A remembering. A revival.Press play. Then press into your purpose.

"I know there's always rooting before blossoming." - Tracy G. This affirmation is a whole word, which inspired this week's episode on setting your goals. If you're a scholar, rooting is the planning and blossoming is the goal achieved. That goal could be a paper, a research project, building your network, etc. Setting a goal in our heads may be as easy as writing that goal down however the process of actualizing the goal can be frustrating and confusing without some careful considerations taken into account. This week Allanté shares three critical pieces to set goals so that you'll actually accomplish them, not just set and forget. One year into a global pandemic that has taken hundreds of thousands of lives and disrupted the routines and relationships of millions more, we would all do well to take a moment to take stock of where we are—mentally, physically, spiritually. Tracy G is here to help you do just that. A self-described “wellness artist” and host of the podcast “She’s Beauty & The Beast,” Tracy is overflowing with wisdom and advice for staying not just sane but grateful when it seems like so much is beyond our control. We ask Tracy about adapting to pandemic life, how to keep “self-care” from becoming self-indulgent and how plants can serve as a really useful metaphor for friendships (really). In Signs of the Times, several U.S. bishops have released statements that could lead to confusion among Catholics about whether it is morally permissible to take the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine. Zac and Ashley discuss: Can too much nuance get in the way of effective communication? Plus, Pope Francis is making a historic visit to Iraq, March 5 to March 8. We share a clip from Inside the Vatican’s deep dive into the trip which answers the question: Why is the pope so set on going to warzone amid a global pandemic? La nueva banda lanzó un nuevo disco, Lock up the Wolves. In this episode, co-hosts Lauren Ash and Zakkiyyah Najeebah invite Tracy G., self-proclaimed “edutainer, emotional empowerer, and trillass individual” onto the show. They dive into the power of affirmations, Tracy’s unique origins empowering other women, and Tracy’s approach to her incredibly transparent and inspiring platform and podcast She’s Beauty and the Beast. Nod your head in agreement (and laugh!) with Tracy G., as she candidly and eloquently discusses emotional empowerment, the power of writing affirmations in battling imposter syndrome, how she stumbled (serendipitously) into sharing her once-private audio vision boards, and her suggestions for how we should approach our creative projects. There are many shades to sexual empowerment, this we know and primarily explored via the no sex zone. But so long as we're alive there will always be a higher level to everything, so let's take it there with that pot of gold between our legs. Now, when I say higher level I don't necessarily mean whipping up some "bombass pussy" for male consumption. Nah shorty, let's go deeper with it... to places on an egg can go... a yoni egg. In this episode I get into conversation with Shakara Ames of Nirvana Wild (www.nirvanawild.com) about pussy power, yoni magic, negative energy that lingers inside our walls and my twinkling new way to masturbate. Episode 42: Miracles Happen in This Classroom Lindsay talks to drama teacher Tracy Garratt about the difference between drama and theatre in the classroom. Show Notes What should we do when we hit 10,000 likes on Facebook? Tell us here! Subscribe to The Theatrefolk Podcast On iTunes. On Stitcher. Episode Transcript Lindsay Price: Welcome to T.F.P., the Theatrefolk Podcast. I am Lindsay Price, resident playwright for Theatrefolk. I hope you're well. Thanks for listening. Today we're going to talk about the difference between theater and drama in the classroom. But first let's do some Theatrefolk news. I have to say I am pretty jazzed at what's happening over on our Facebook page. I think there's like cool stuff going on. First of all we have hit over 7,800 followers, fans, likes. Whoever you are, we adore you because that is a lot of people who don't personally know us, hanging around, reading our posts, putting up their own posts. I just think that's pretty cool. It also means that we're closer to 10,000 than farther away. We'd like to hear what you think we should when we hit that pretty cool number. Right? I remember when Craig and I started with the page, our goal was 1,000 followers or likes or fans or whatever. We were excited about the idea that we could hit 1,000. An now, we've come again so much closer to 10 than not, so go over to our Facebook page. Make sure you're following along. That's where we post pictures, we celebrate productions. We post drama and education articles. It's where free play Sunday happens, last Sunday of every month, free scripts. It's where you can find our blog posts and podcasts. Everything in one tidy little place. It's a lovely hub of high school theater. I just think it really does represent who we are as theater folk, who we want to be, how we want to reach out, how we want to be in our little community, our little drama geek community. I love it. Lastly, where oh where can you find this podcast? We post new episodes every Wednesday at theatrefolk.com and on our Facebook page. Facebook. And Twitter. You can find us on the Stitcher app and you can subscribe to TFP on iTunes. All you have to do is search on that word. What's the magic word? Theater Folk. Episode 42. We've got a teacher interview. Today, I'm talking to a drama teacher, Tracy Garratt. I have been visiting Tracy's classroom for three years now. Oh my gosh. I have taught play writing, I've work-shopped some plays, and we've had many conversations about what's it like to teach high school drama, what the difference between drama and theater is when it comes to the classroom. What does it mean exactly, what does it mean when we look at drama and we look at theater as it is specifically applied to education, to what happens between a drama teachers and drama students. From my perspective, what Tracy and I are talking about comes down to skill sets and outcomes. In the theater classroom, students learn a skill set that will improve their performance on stage; projection, articulation, character analysis, physicalization, all of which are driving towards production. That's the outcome, to produce a play. In the drama classroom, students learn a skill set that will improve their performance in life: improvisation to develop self-confidence, articulation that relates to being able to speak clearly in a job interview. The outcome here is more process driven. There may be a production, there may not. Tracy has her students moving towards some kind of public performance but it's never really the driving focus of her classroom. Between the two skill sets, it's the same tools and the same classroom but with pretty decidedly different outcomes. Of course in the theater classroom, the skillset can also apply to the stage and to life, it's just a matter of the direction of the class. Performance or process. Let's get to the interview. So, I am sitting here on the floor of the drama classroom of Tracy G...

Holy Diver foi muito bem aceito e deixou clássicos como a faixa-título, "Stand Up and Shout", "Don't Talk to Strangers" e a mais famosa "Rainbow in the Dark".
