In today's episode, I want to talk about what it looks like ‘beyond the badge', and embracing seasons in a world obsessed with busy. For me, I wore ‘busy' like a badge of honor. I wanted to achieve every milestone, achievement, and check allll the boxes. Busy became my default answer, because when we're busy, that means we're successful..right?Over the last couple of years, I've really leaned into the concept of ‘wintering'. While we seem to be adding more and more to our calendar, Nature is instead telling us to be still, turn inward, and do less. Whether we're experiencing pregnancy, trying to navigate postpartum, transitioning our career, or some other kind of major life change, it's VITAL that we slow down, and honor the season we're in.I want to encourage you to honor your natural energy, and be present with what's right in front of you. When you're able to know, love, and trust yourself just as you are, you'll be able to come home to yourself, and truly thrive, regardless of the season you're in.In this episode, I cover:Turning to the ‘cyclical' nature of the world and honoring the season you're inMy story of wearing ‘busy' like a badge of honor + how I've actively worked to change that over timeMy journey through burnout + the unexpected blessings this led toChoosing to truly slow down during life's seasons + learning the art of ‘simplify to amplify'Finding alignment in the life you want to create + focusing on being present, and coming home to yourselfBe sure to hit subscribe so you never miss the latest episode!Connect with Emily:Follow on Instagram and FacebookJoin my email listCheck out my websiteConnect with on LinkedInResources & Links:Gather in Growth Sponsorship InquiryBook me as a speaker for your next eventGather in Growth podcast produced by: Jill Carr PodcastingMentioned in this episode:Book me as a keynote speaker, workshop host, or emcee for your next event! I'm very grounded in where I am now, but that wasn't always the case. I know firsthand that this personal growth journey is HARD! We want our personal growth to be perfectly laid out with a set plan in place, but...it doesn't work like that. Our personal growth and healing doesn't have a certain ‘end date'; it's more of a practice of trust and release to have faith in knowing that we ARE on the path that is meant for us, regardless of how long it takes! In today's episode, I'm talking about cultivating confidence, sucking at something new, and taking brave action. For me, my definition of success has greatly changed over the last year. As an Enneagram 3, I used to believe success meant chasing and achieving big goals so I would be ‘enough', and people would love me. But no...it's doing meaningful work that I truly LOVE, and is actually making a difference in other women's lives! In this episode, I cover:Why your personal growth and healing journey doesn't have an ‘end date', and it won't be laid out ‘perfectly' eitherHow my definition of success has dramatically changed in the last yearUnderstanding that you can't ‘magically' create confidence, because it's cultivated by taking brave, scary actionRealizing that you're already capable and qualified to start doing that ‘thing' that you know you're meant to doThe beauty that awaits you when you come HOME to yourself + fully know, love, and trust yourselfBe sure to hit subscribe so you never miss the latest episode!Find the complete show notes here: https://emilyreuschel.com/117-cultivating-confidence-sucking-at-something-new-and-taking-brave-action/ Connect with Emily:Follow on Instagram and FacebookJoin my email listCheck out my websiteConnect with on LinkedInResources & Links:Gather in Growth Sponsorship InquiryBook me as a speaker for your next eventGather in Growth podcast produced by: Jill Carr PodcastingMentioned in this episode:Book me as a keynote speaker, workshop host, or emcee for your next event! 223 – Have you ever thought of the Bible as a verb? All too often we think of the Bible as a source for our beliefs, our theology, and our faith. But have you ever looked at the Bible through the lens of the action items that need to be on our daily to-do list? This week, I talk to my wife, Polly Castor, about the Bible as resource for how we are to behave, what we are to do, not just what we're supposed to believe.Polly shares LOTS of Bible action items, things we need to do, like:Obey the CommandmentsLet your light shineLove your neighbor as yourselfBe reconciled to one anotherEdify one anotherSing unto the LordSeek first the kingdom of God and His righteousnessAND so many morePolly makes a practice during her Bible study to keep track of all the things the Bible instructs us to do.She sees these action items as tools in her spiritual toolbox. When someone is demanding or really needs her attention, she practices patience. If there's a misunderstanding with a friend or family member, she takes out the "be reconciled to each other" tool and works toward healing the situation. You get the idea. You'll love the practical wisdom and humor Polly brings to living the Bible in her daily life.Polly Castor contact info:Daily blog: pollycastor.comArt website: pollycastorart.comInstagram: @pollycastorEmail: pollycastor@gmail.comPrevious episodes mentioned:Episode 53: How I Met My WifeEpisode 15: How to Stop Fighting Your Brother and Love Him InsteadShow notes:For a full transcript of this episode and a list of all the Bible quotes, go to thebiblespeakstoyou.com/223.Support the show_________________________James Early, the Jesus Mindset Coach, is a Bible teacher, speaker, and podcaster.   Podcast #512   TRUSTING YOURSELF AND YOUR DECISIONS   Trusting yourself to make good decisions, and trusting your ability to show up big in your life in your own personal follow-through changes everything. If you've ever struggled with indecision, overthinking or lack of self-trust, this episode is for you.  This episode will teach you how to practice self-trust, how to not belabor or second-guess yourself, and how to get out of the spiral of overthinking.   In this episode of The Confidence Podcast, we're talking about: How to build self-trust, and how to trust big decisions you need to make How to be someone who does what they say they will do How to become a good bet - trusting that your effort will always pay off   REVIEW OF THE WEEK:    The COC takes the podcast to the next level.   . I could have just watched the workshop to save myself hours of listening to podcasts. What I loved about this workshop were the exercises to help evaluate failures, and handle thoughts about future failures. -Trevor F.   TRUSTING YOURSELF - HOW TO DO IT   Know yourself. Establish a baseline of friendship with yourself. Actionables: Write out a list of times when you have made good choices, worthy of trust.Write out another list where you didn't trust yourself - and why that makes sense.    PAST BROKEN SELF-TRUST IS A GOOD THING   I spent years second-guessing and overthinking because I trusted hard - and the wrong people. Like anything, decision-making isn't something that just comes naturally. It's a skill that we have to learn, we have to practice, we have to strengthen. Therefore, the decisions you made in the past make sense. How does it make sense?Would I do it differently?Next time what will I change? We get stuck in overthinking and tapping into other people for decisions and over-confirming because we cast judgment on past "bad" decisions. Review the following statements.  Indicate if you AGREE or DISAGREE.1.     Your intelligence is something very basic about you that you can't change very much.  2.     You can learn new things, but you can't really change how intelligent you are. 3.     Not matter how much intelligence you have, you can always change it quite a bit. 4.     You can always substantially change how intelligent you are.   This is Carol Dweck's work she explored this concept of mindset—fixed and growth. She's a Stanford psychological and has done decades of research in this area.   Carol is a rock star. Here is a brief overview of the differences…Fixed Mindset = Intelligence and talent is fixed at birth“I'm either good at it, or I'm not” feel that my abilities determine everything, my success or lack of it“When I fail, I'm no good”look smart in every situation, prove myselffeel threatened by the success of others(NOTE:  If you agreed with statements 1 and 2 above, this is FIXED)Growth Mindset = Intelligence and talent can be grown and developed “I can learn anything I want to”  feel that my effort and attitude determine everything“When I fail, I learn”stretch myself, take risks and learnfind lessons and inspiration in others' success(NOTE:  If you agreed with statements 3 and 4 above, this is GROWTH) The great news is that we can change our mindset.  We can help our brain to create a love of learning and resilience. For me, this showed up in math….until I challenged this long standing belief.  Deliberately.  In grad school.  While I'm certainly not a math wizard, I am adept and capable.  And I don't beat myself up over what I know and don't know about math anymore.Consider something that you don't think you're good at.  Then answer the following questions. What are you not good at?How do you talk to yourself about this belief?Where did the belief originate?Do you have any evidence to the contrary?  (If so, why not choose to belief those examples?)Is it still serving you to believe this, or is it interfering with your leadership effectiveness (i.e., what are the consequences of not changing)?  If so, change it.Here are some seed of learning around a growth mindset:1.     Explore and discuss growth and fixed mindset with your team; watch a TED talk or video from Carol Dweck2.     Challenge yourself and your team to actively identify when you find yourself if a fixed mindset—realize that you can choose a different narrative3.     Tackle one belief about yourself; take action to learn; find someone who is “good” at that thing and learn from them; reframe your language to be more growth oriented:I am learning to be comfortable with difficult conversationsI am becoming a person who addresses challenging discussionsSummary·        Explored growth and fixed mindset; just by knowing this information, you can think and act in new ways·        Even if we are a good learner, chances are there are limiting beliefs we have·        Talk about this concept with your team·        Create a plan to alter a fixed belief you have about yourselfBe the coach everyone wants to work for!  You can: https://www.intentionaleaderscourses.com/confident-leader

If you don't have hills where you live, do big gear work on your wind trainer.  Be sure to start conservatively and slowly add resistance to avoid any injuries or niggles when you first startYou want to feel the muscular effort.  It shouldn't be a high heart rate when you do this. Heart rate should be low along with your cadence but power should be high.  Descending on HillsPeople fear this most of the time, but you need to practice this as well.  Sit at the back of your seat, but get low.  If you're descending and there are huge gusts of winds, stay relaxed up top and keep pedalling.  Also, you want to lift on your inside leg of where you're turning and focus on where you want to go.The Power of PresenceHow to Focus Your Mindset to Bring Out the Best in YourselfBe present.  If you are training, be there 1 million per cent.  Don't allow yourself to think of anything else, otherwise, you won't put in all that you possibly can.
