Songwriter and recording artist Steel Maggie explores the complex relationship between mental health and creativity, and how artists and musicians can leverage their experiences to design their own success in the entertainment and creative industries.
The philosopher Hannah Montana once famously pondered upon how life could be like a movie. In this Subconsciously Steel Maggie podcast episode, I agree with Montana, and raise her one more. We are all playing a character of some kind. Each of us has a "personality," or a pattern of traits which we identify with and label with the word "I." These collections of traits, memories, thoughts, feelings, habits, all play out on the individual movie screens of our lives, whether we are conscious or unconscious to our roles regarding reality creation. A lot of people are going through life absolutely hating the movie that's playing, and don't believe they can consciously choose a different "movie." Today I'm talking about exactly how you can select a better plot, write a new script, rehearse with the actors, and film the movie of your conscious choice, all in the quantum theater of your mind. I will quote another late 2000s icon and leave you to enjoy the podcast episode: "The rest is still unwritten." - Natasha Bedingfield. Let's get together on https://www.instagram.com/steelmaggiehq/ (Instagram) and https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeeRv8mb/ (TikTok)! https://www.buymeacoffee.com/steelmaggie (Buy Me A Coffee): Support this podcast via Buy Me A Coffee - your information and payment are safe and secure, no account needed, and all $ goes to producing and growing this podcast as well as amplifying the Steel Maggie brand so that we can reach many more beautiful creators just like you.
Do you feel like you just can't find things you're genuinely "grateful for," without forcing the issue? Are you getting more and more frustrated with this allegedly "secret sauce" element to reality creation? If I had a dollar for every time I've run into that mental dead end! And when you listen to the majority of opinions on gratitude, about embodying the state of gratitude, the further you seem to run from simple peace of mind. "Why doesn't this come easy to me??" I get it man. How can you create what you want to experience from the mental space of not having it, and then add in the frustration of knowing that you're not in the "abundance state" and can't seem to get to it no matter how much you've been trying? The answer is, you don't! But we're going to change that today. With all the conflicting information and vague woo-woo LOA phrasing out there about gratitude, the solution I'm proposing today is to make a simple shift in wording. When I implemented this tiny mental pivot, it made all the difference in my ability to actually feel good about where I am in my life right here and now. So you find the concept or feeling of "gratitude" to be inaccessible or if you feel completely fake making a gratitude list, even though you are told it's a game-changer for what you're experiencing in your life (and it is), this episode is absolutely 110% for YOU. It's a banger. Episode highlights: -How gratitude ACTUALLY works -The Alternative Gratitude List and examples of how you can try it out for yourself -Your thoughts are actions in the quantum realm -The only thing you "have to do" -Why you want to become friends with your subconscious mind -The song "Warmth of the Sun" by the Beach Boys as an awesome example of alternative gratitude. Beautiful creators!! I'm back!! It's SO GOOD to be here with you again. Like coming home after a long trip, eating a full home-cooked meal, and taking a hot shower. That's how recording this episode felt. I have no regrets regarding my hiatus, but damn if I almost felt a twinge during initial production! To re-introduce myself, my name is Steel Maggie, and I'm a songwriter, vocalist, and dance pop demigoddess. This is my podcast, Subconsciously Steel Maggie, formerly known as Mind Made Wrong. If this is your first episode, welcome! If you're returning, thank you for holding it down with your loyalty. I'm truly indebted to you. My topical focus has shifted away from "coping" and "working through" mental health situations, towards understanding and using the power of the subconscious mind to consciously create what you most desire to experience in your life. This first episode returning is an overview of the Law of Mind, foundational Hermetic principles, and reality creation. I clear up terms, phrases, and attitudes that mar the impact of the "manifesting" community and distract you from developing your own connection to the infinite intelligence within. This episode is essentially an outline of what I'll be covering in following episodes to come, which is why it's a helpful overview, especially if you're new to this way of thinking. Even though the podcast name has changed and my topics have narrowed in niche, I guarantee, I vow to you, that you will find even more value and actionable inspiration in the episodes to come than ever before. By the way, I'm so thrilled and grateful to see that despite my long and unannounced hiatus, that you're still coming through for this podcast all over the world, from Los Angeles, to Brazil, to Ireland, to France and beyond. My listener analytics from this past year and a half from being away really surprised me, let alone that all you podcast listeners, Mind Made Wrong veterans and newcomers alike, were still downloading and listening to the old catalogue of episodes. This confirms to me that the content I'm creating remains right on time, both intellectually and spiritually. I want to follow that compass always, so your downloads, subscriptions, follows, episode plays, and reviews keep me aligned what I set out to do back in 2019 with this podcast. You may notice I have removed a number of past episodes from the catalog. One or two of these were taken down by the request of the interviewed guest, but a majority have been removed because I no longer align with the message (or like...the general vibe, man) of those interviews. No bad blood, nothing personal - the messaging of the interviews made sense for Mind Made Wrong, but they don't fit Subconsciously Steel Maggie. The solo episodes that have been removed are due to the same reason - I no longer agree with what I said nor identify with my thought process at the time of a particular episode's publishing. Let's connect on Instagram @steelmaggiehq and Tik Tok @steelmaggiemusic
Hello beautiful creator! In this episode I had planned to give you the results of my Zone of Freakout challenge (doing one uncomfortable thing that gets me to grow every day for 14 days) - what I did, how I did it, all that jazz. Instead, I’m going to share with you what I LEARNED instead of what I did, including 3 main concepts I really want you to understand and claim for yourself: 1) why you should cultivate a strong intuitive connection within yourself, 2) why you actually SHOULDN’T be in your Zone of Freakout every day, and 3) the question that you need to ask yourself every day instead, if you truly want to step into the life and career you love as a beautiful creator. The most amazing thing about this question is that you can do it right now, even if it’s 8pm and you have no idea where your day went. This question will align you with your source. Please listen and get ready to fully tap into who you already are - a beautiful and successful creator - without struggle, without hustle, without resistance. Also -VERY IMPORTANT- I really want to hear from you if you’re listening! Let me know by screenshotting this episode and tagging me on Instagram in your stories @steelmaggiehq. I want to meet more of you and hear how you’ve answered “the question” for yourself today! Dexie shares her personal experience this year with taking a break from songwriting.-The attitude about releasing music and content that every single artist should have!!-Why it’s your ultimate DUTY as an artist to know your worth.-Live your life as a work of art because art lives as a work of YOU. Hello my beautiful creators, I sincerely apologize for being absent last week, I definitely hit a self-created not-being-medication-compliant rapid cycle that kept me down (then up, and down, and then really up, and then REALLY DOWN) for a hot minute. This week, I’m back with a practical discussion about what those of you who are feeling unsure of what your roles are in recent events can do to be constructive in your support of communities of color. I’m going to be giving you ACTIONS - not thoughts, prayers, guilt, or soapboxes - actions that are simple but effective for you all as artists to help amplify marginalized and oppressed voices and causes. Hello beautiful creators, it’s Steel Maggie, and wow...today’s episode ALMOST wasn’t! This is an absolutely spur-of-the moment, jolt-of-lightning, kick-in-the-pants, can’t believe this was in front of my face the entire time type of revelation, one that I almost didn’t have, and almost was never able to share with you!! Have you ever wondered why you have such big goals and dreams, you make these beautiful plans, everything feels like it’s moving forward, and all of a sudden, a year has gone by and you’re in the exact same place you started, or worse, while “all” of your peers are achieving greater and greater things? Is there anything more frustrating than this?? I FEEL YOU. And this episode will be exactly what you needed to hear because I’m going to give you hind AND future sight to why and how this happens. I’m going to give you the exact THOUGHT behind why we self-sabotage, and what you can think instead to stop the cycle long enough to choose something different in order to experience a different reality. Hello beautiful creators! The incomparable, bold, and unmistakably talented Hope Littwin is back for the second half of her interview, where she expands upon her journey to worthy, and generously grants us incredible insights on self-acceptance, artistic integrity, self-care, and honoring her boundaries. My favorite moments in Part 2:-Hope gives us a week FREE of BetterHelp.com: https://www.betterhelp.com/rpc/35e926db347781a601-On her mindset shift to worthiness: “Instead of thinking ‘how cheaply can I possibly do this,’ I’m working on ‘how BIG can I possibly think, how much can I ask for?’” -How Hope assembles her “army of self care.”-Negative self-talk is actually a comment on “I feel shame, I feel like I’m not worthy,” the more you dig into it, it’s like this is what you’re actually saying underneath your complaint. -Protecting her energy: “I cover my head...it’s like a boundary; I’m here, you’re there, and I don’t have to participate in your negative energy.-The emotional displacement caused by episodes: “I think that’s a question of self-acceptance and compassion for self, to recognize that this is happening, it’s not the end of the world, but it still sucks, but there’s also something in here that could be valuable, so how do I think about this situation differently, and prove to myself that it’s useful.” -“To get to that place of understanding why you do what you do and where your integrity is with what you’re gonna share, is hard work, and it’s valuable work, and I think we have a responsibility as creators to do that work.”Hope Littwin-Betterhelp.com is a great way you can find affordable and quality therapists on the road, online, and in a pandemic. ****sign up for a week free on Better Help through Hope***** https://www.betterhelp.com/rpc/35e926db347781a601Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/hopelittwinApple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/artist/hope-littwin/1093585754Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1JhseWoqZMlNV6jREoTUI3Youtube: www.youtube.com/hopelittwinBandcamp: https://hopelittwin.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hopelittwin/For links and more, visit https://www.steelmaggiemusic.com/podcast and check out Episode 48 - The Art of Self-Acceptance - Hope Littwin: Part 2If you found value in this podcast, please save this episode, subscribe/follow Mind Made Wrong wherever you listen, and if it moves you, share this with another beautiful creator you know. Hello beautiful creators! :) Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer and recording artist, Hope Littwin, joins me today to have a vivid and vital conversation about the intersection of creativity and mental health. After finding herself trapped in the artistic and monetary confines of the high-art conservatory world, Hope shares with us how she is becoming an independent artist in every sense of the word. My favorite moments in Part 1:-The value of going back to your foundations when things get tough: ”Any time you have something that flips your life around...you start asking yourself very different questions, It’s scary, but it’s a very valuable question” - “Who am I if I can’t do my art?”-The human race essentially makes art in order to have and continue a conversation: “Art is much more about dialogue than anything else, I don’t create in a vacuum...I don’t create just for myself.”-On acting despite fear: “The only way out is through.” If you’re avoiding something, it is controlling you.-“Create in the circumstance that is the most terrifying for you over and over again. You can’t not face it.” -Hope’s view on the balance between labels of diagnoses and self-evaluation: “I was afraid that I would allow someone else’s opinion, which could completely be misled, to then define how I view myself. I want to be the person who defines myself. I’m willing to face myself on a daily basis. At the end of the day I don’t want to be at someone else’s door being like “what’s wrong with me.” I have my own tools to say “ok I’ve been here before, here’s my list of tools I can use to bring myself back, and maybe one of which is calling someone who is a professional who can help me, but I kind of know when that’s the option that I want, and when it’s not.”-Betterhelp.com is a great way you can find affordable and quality therapists on the road, online, and in a pandemic. ****sign up for a week free on Better Help through Hope**** https://www.betterhelp.com/rpc/35e926db347781a601Hope LittwinPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/hopelittwinApple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/artist/hope-littwin/1093585754Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1JhseWoqZMlNV6jREoTUI3Youtube: www.youtube.com/hopelittwinBandcamp: https://hopelittwin.bandcamp.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hopelittwin/
Are you emotionally sober? Or are you getting drunk on fear, resentment, avoidance, and resistance? Despite the title, this episode is FOR ALL OF YOU BEAUTIFUL CREATORS, not just those who have/have had problems with substance. In these uncertain and fearful times, we are all prone to the desire to numb ourselves. I'm talking about how we use all kinds of substances to NUMB ourselves to unwanted feelings about situations and people. Through my example, I refer to my drug of choice, alcohol, as my numbing agent, but understand that yours may be completely different. It may be food, TV, sex, anything that you use in an unhealthy way to avoid living life on life's terms. We're going to uncover what that is for you in this episode, plus figure out what the UNDERLYING BELIEFS are behind your resistance. Hello my beautiful creators! Let’s continue social distancing, staying home when possible, washing those hands for 20 seconds frequently, and over-delivering love and support to each other online. We will flatten that curve together. In the meantime, this is Part 2 of Martin Gachiri’s interview where he shares his experience with the ever-present struggle that artists face; self worth and value as it applies to their creations. His answer? It comes down to your own lack of trust in yourself, the quality of your relationship with YOU. Discover how Martin found a sense of value and purpose in his artistic identity, even when he felt detached and uninspired. My favorite moments in Part 2:-Don’t give yourself time to second guess yourself. Share your art.-You don’t have to have crazy big aspirations in order to justify your existence as a creator of art. “I just kind of wanted to be that guitar dude.”-Moms are always right! Martin’s mother shared with him one short sentence that made a huge impact on his moods and his relationships with others and himself (seriously if you get just ONE take away from this episode, apply THIS).-The evolution of your music (or any other artistic body of work) represents the evolution of who you’ve been and who you’ve become. -A song is an audio “screenshot” of who you were in that exact moment when you wrote it.-An inside peek at one of Martin’s RPM Songwriting Challenge creations, “Microdose”THE FULL VIDEO INTERVIEW IN WHICH MY HAIR IS UNDENIABLY 90s https://youtu.be/1bcxW5jdXJ4For links and more, visit https://www.steelmaggiemusic.com/podcast and check out Episode 44 - Martin Gachiri Interview - Part 2The Martin Gachiri ExperienceIG: https://www.instagram.com/mgxperience/Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/mgachiriexperienceSoundcloud (MGX): https://soundcloud.com/mdoggdx316Soundcloud (ReleasetheHeretic): https://soundcloud.com/releasetheheretic- Microdose: https://soundcloud.com/releasetheheretic/microdoseSoundcloud (MIE): https://soundcloud.com/martin30day2017If you received value from this episode, please make sure you are following or subscribed to Mind Made Wrong wherever you stream, and please share this podcast with another beautiful creator you know. If you’re bored in self-isolation or just plain need something ELSE other than the constant onslaught of COVID-19 news, it just so happens that my friend, fellow musician and Cal Poly Pomona alumnus, Martin Gachiri, is here to share the first half of his Mind Made Wrong Interview. Fittingly, he speaks on the isolation of depression and the need for the healing outlets of personal artistic expression and community. It’s a very timely message that I can almost guarantee you will relate to and find encouraging during this frustrating and fearful time in our history. My favorite moments in Part 1:-How Martin found creative freedom by radically changing his perspective on what artistry “looks like”-What you can learn from Martin’s two-week break from speaking aloud (that’s right, he didn’t say 1 word for 2 WEEKS STRAIGHT)-How depression develops as a result of isolation: “me, myself and I” thinking-”When you feel like a burden, that’s when people probably want to hear the most from you.”-The possibility of a “Motown Martin” seriesFor links and more, visit https://www.steelmaggiemusic.com/podcast and check out Episode 43 - Martin Gachiri Interview - Part 1The Martin Gachiri ExperienceIG: https://www.instagram.com/mgxperience/Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/mgachiriexperienceSoundcloud (MGX): https://soundcloud.com/mdoggdx316Soundcloud (ReleasetheHeretic): https://soundcloud.com/releasetheheretic- Microdose: https://soundcloud.com/releasetheheretic/microdoseSoundcloud (MIE): https://soundcloud.com/martin30day2017If you received value from this episode, please make sure you are following or subscribed to Mind Made Wrong wherever you stream, and please share this podcast with another beautiful creator you know. Hello my beautiful creators! It's me, Steel Maggie, here with probably my most relevant topic TO DATE. We all know that 42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything - it's so fitting that this particular episode on Mind Made Wrong (42) is MY answer to MYSELF and most of the patterns and mistakes I've dragged myself through my entire music career so far. If you're feeling lost in your career, or feeling like you need to do EVERYTHING or that you're missing this one thing some expert or coach is going to teach you that's going to make all the difference in your life... I want you to take a deep breath and listen to this episode, and know in your soul - you are worthy of your own trust, and you have everything right here right now to get you to the next step. This is sneaky self care. It's about listening to yourself and honoring your values above all else. Everyone has their own opinions, and many have literal financial investment in making sure you feel like you NEED what they provide, like something within YOU is missing. I don't buy it anymore. I hope you listen and discover the value and beauty and wholeness in YOU. If you have not yet heard my latest single "Holy Ground," you are missing out on the self worth dance anthem of your LIFE - It actually is the epitome of "Sneaky Self Care" https://youtu.be/ZBIZpAHz404For links and more, visit https://www.steelmaggiemusic.com/podcast and check out Episode 42 - Sneaky Self Care. Hello beautiful creators! THIS IS THE 'HOLY GROUND" EPISODE. It has been RELEASED. And it is glorious. First and foremost, please LISTEN to "Holy Ground" (by me, Steel Maggie) which is available most anywhere you stream (maybe even on the platform where you're reading this right now), so that these next 30 minutes we spend together will be put into crystal-clear context :) Please note, this particular podcast recording is from a Facebook Live. When I wrote this song, I still had no idea what it was like to love or value myself. I struggled with letting go of the self-loathing alcoholic identity I built and reveled in, because at the very core, I was afraid of myself, both the darkness and the light. I didn't know that my extremes are essential to be being the most authentic human being (and artist) I can be. Holy Ground became a prophetic lyrical vision for the future of my most important relationship - the one I have with myself. In this episode, you'll hear me share my emotional evolution through start to finish of writing, recording, and releasing Holy Ground. "There's no doubt...Everywhere I go is holy ground." May you listen now and believe for yourself. If you received value from this episode of Mind Made Wrong, please make sure you are following or are subscribed wherever you stream, and shoot me a DM or email (@steelmaggiehq or maggie@steelmaggiemusic.com) sharing an identity or thought loop you're going to let go of now, in favor of learning how to truly love and celebrate the full force of your existence. If it moves you, please share this podcast with another beautiful creator you know. Hello beautiful creators! Today I am joined by musician and songwriter, Jon Omen, as he shares the life-saving role that music has had in his mental health journey. Listen on to be ridiculously inspired. Hello beautiful creators! Isn’t “gratitude” becoming such an annoying buzzword these days? Wantrepreneurs and influencers and even successful business people are trying to sell you on their seminars and overhyped content by using this word constantly in their podcasts, books, and ad campaigns… We all want to be successful, and sure, we’ll write down 10 things we’re grateful for every night if this big shot on Instagram said it helped him get rich. But the meaning and power of gratitude in YOUR life is significantly diluted in the process. This episode I break down the simple secret I’ve discovered for letting gratitude bear fruit in my life. And don’t worry, yet another thing you have to DO: it’s this and only this - a willingness to consider the possibility.Reach out and let me know if you’re willing to consider this method of accessing gratitude in your life - DM on Instagram or Twitter @steelmaggiehq or email me at maggie@steelmaggiemusic.comFor links and more, visit https://www.steelmaggiemusic.com/podcast and check out Episode 38 - The Secret to Authentic GratitudeIf you received value from this episode, please make sure you are following or subscribed to Mind Made Wrong wherever you stream, and please share this podcast with another beautiful creator you know. Hello beautiful creators - IT'S MONDAY and I've got a life-changing episode here for you if you really listen, let it soak in, and then take action on it. It's about this 1 Principle - "What I focus on expands." If that sounds woo-woo to you, (totally get it) I actually think you will benefit from this concept the most! I spent the better part of a year trying to wrap my brain around this and also complaining that I wasn't where I wanted to be, and then... IT CLICKED. It feels like I've achieved and grown more in a few weeks in 2020 than I have... ever, really. So today's episode is dedicated to helping it "click" for you!"What do you want to EXPAND? What do you want to create more of in your life? Figure out what you want to increase or improve. And then focus on it, live with it, breathe it into your life, be thankful for it, banish all fear and fearful actions from that area of your life." I want to hear how you're going to apply this in your life - tell me on Instagram or Twitter @steelmaggiehq or email me at maggie@steelmaggiemusic.comFor links and more, visit https://www.steelmaggiemusic.com/podcast and check out Episode 37 - What I Focus on ExpandsIf you received value from this episode of Mind Made Wrong, please leave me a lovely rating or review on Apple podcasts, Google podcasts, wherever you listen if you have the ability to do so, and please share this podcast with another beautiful creator you know. Greetings beautiful creators. It is I, Steel Maggie, here with George Brandt for PART 2 of his divine and courageous interview. In Part 2, George and I kind of take a left turn into our similar religious backgrounds, coming of age in art-starved schools, and how that has affected both our songwriting and who we are becoming as ever-evolving human artists. He shares how he practices self-care and how that grounds him in his creativity despite his high anxiety. I absolutely love the concept he offers to us about “keeping house of the mind,” so l highly encourage you to listen for that. My favorite part of this interview: we come to the conclusion that the biggest lie in entertainment is that “you are not ok as you are.” But George Brandt is here to shed ALL the light onto that darkness. This is a powerful 38 minutes folks. We are all just “skeletons in skin suits.” Absolutely brilliant George, thank you so much for joining me on Mind Made Wrong. Keep slaying and creating beautiful things as you do. Beautiful creators, I moved DIFFERENTLY in this episode. Here is Part 1 of an interview I did with the divinely genuine pop artist and Indiana-SoCal transplant George Brandt. If you are a songwriter toying with your identity as such, or if you’re struggling with being your authentic self in your art, then you needed this conversation YESTERDAY. Or if you’re simply into all things and people cinematic and dramatic, this is also your episode. And George Brandt is 100% your new fave in that category now (well, besides moi of course). During part 1, we go IN on the creative process, muses, nostalgia, and the authentic self. George shares his journey of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and healing from his past as a songwriter and musician. “I’m constantly trying to rewire myself...and let go…”This episode ends with a cliffhanger SOOOOO you absolutely must come back for Part 2 next week! Hello beautiful creators!! Warning - if you don't want to get out of that rut, off the hamster wheel, and finally change your life in that way you've wanted to year after year, then this is NOT the episode for you. Happy 2020 my beautiful creators!! I wanted to present this podcast episode to you as a humble offering of my gratitude for all of you and your incredible support of Mind Made Wrong in the past year of 2019.I want to share with you where I've been, and the practically third-eye opening experience I've had. I fell off the face of the earth for exactly a month as a result of an alcoholic incident, which was completely of my own unwitting design. If you've followed me for awhile, you've seen me "come back" before, only to watch me relapse again into my old ways of thinking and behaving (and of course, drinking). I am convinced, however, that his particular event, and the events/consequences that followed it, have changed me in a fundamental way. I know this because I continue to transform in a way that I never thought I could, which I owe to sobriety and the continual renewal of my mind. And that mind is 100% blown in the best of ways.If you found value in my story of addiction and recovery, please share this episode with another beautiful creator you know, and leave a divine rating and review wherever you stream your podcasts. Now I want to hear... 1) your vision for 2020, 2) your fears and anxieties about those (naming fears gives them less power over you), and 3) all the beautiful things you want to create this year. Let me know @steelmaggiehq on Instagram or Twitter, or email me at maggie@steelmaggiemusic.com. And I will see you next week on MONDAY.Here is the VIDEO version of this episode, because yes, you would like the option: Mind Made Wrong Podcast - Episode 33
Louise and I are BACK for the second, and even more inspiring half of our interview (if you can believe that’s possible)! It was an absolute blessing to talk with the musician AND life coach, Louise Warren. She is in tune with her creativity, how she shows up in the world, and most importantly, how she shows up for HERSELF. If you haven’t listened to Part 1 yet, please do so, as it lays the foundation for the incredible goodness in Part 2.Highlights:-How’s your input/output ratio? Are you intentionally and lovingly filling your vessel, or are you “chain smoking people” to do that job for you?-Artists and burnout-How to develop a growth mindset-Our lives become our masterpieces when we let creativity flow in how we do our work and live our lives, whether you are a musician, painter, doctor, accountant. You don’t have to be in the arts to live creatively.-“We can wake up and decide to matter, decide to transform the world in which we see, just by sitting down with a pen and a piece of paper. How cool is that? That is magic.” - LouiseIf you received value from Louise’s message, please leave me a lovely rating or review wherever you listen, and please share this podcast with another beautiful creator you know. This episode of Mind Made Wrong, you are going to meet the sister and friend I never knew I had, the DIVINE Louise Warren. She is both a musician AND a creative life coach. I couldn’t ask for a more fitting guest or a more timely interview when it comes to us beautiful creators choosing and committing to how we’re going to live our lives as artists and creatives in 2020. Even if it’s messier than we anticipated. Well actually, ESPECIALLY if it’s messier. That’s how we evolve ;) The best thing about this episode - you’ll learn the importance of giving yourself the grace and time to take care of yourself, while still holding yourself accountable to the goals you have set. You will be reminded that you, as a whole human being, supersede your goals and ambitions, and some days, the execution of your art will simply be to live. If you’re anything like Louise and I, this is a daily commitment to the care of our mental/emotional health, and it’s going to look different for each of us.If you received value from Louise’s message, please leave me a lovely rating or review wherever you listen, and please share this podcast with another beautiful creator you know. Misery doesn’t love company, misery loves an audience! Today, for the 30th episode of Mind Made Wrong, (yay!!) I’m talking about self-pity, WHERE it comes from, WHEN I realized I was nurturing a state of self pity in my own life, and HOW you can extricate yourself from this particularly insidious emotional state. There’s one simple (but not easy) way to get yourself out of this draw 4 loop in Uno, and I give it away in this episode. Listen on, my beautiful creators. Please DM me @steelmaggiehq or email me at maggie@steelmaggiemusic.com, and tell me you’re going to stop playing the unwinnable game so that we can declare it together and start that accountability! Hello my beautiful creators, would you like to experience discomfort in pursuit of your growth today? Yes? Of course you do! This podcast episode, I’m sharing with you the simple (but not easy!) 3-step method I have been using to move THROUGH uncomfortable emotions, rather than burying them under layers of temporary “feel good” thoughts. I also share why it is vitally important not to rush through the process of recognizing and accepting the role your thoughts have to play in creating how you feel, especially if you are someone desiring to break old and unhelpful patterns! So what is YOUR thought, how do you plan to accept it and the results of your thinking, and how you are going to shift it ever so slightly? Do you feel a deep sense of dissatisfaction in your life? Are you caught in a vicious cycle that keeps you from moving forward and actually making a real positive and lasting change? Most crucially, are you blaming this on someone else or your environment? I’ll guess you are probably not using the power of what I call the “inner no” or “inward no.” In this episode, I share with you the incredible results of my own “no” this past month, and show you how you can achieve the same in order to finally break the cycles and the barriers that have kept you from your truest and most authentic self. I also distinguish acting with your best interest in mind from selfish, and give you ways you can discern the mental place where your action is coming from.I want to hear about your inner no! Tell me how you figured it out, and how you are going to move from this point forward. OR if you have already made some kind of decision like this, how did it turn out? How do you feel? The beginning of the end of everything. Season 15, the final season of The CW's Supernatural is now here. I'm kind of obsessed with this show and I thought this was the perfect time to do an episode where I discuss mental health and wellness lessons and tidbits that I've found throughout my years of watching the show (and rewatching...and again). Today I share, as an example, the current situation in my life that has revealed this immediate and necessary 180 concerning my habitual thoughts and feelings. What is ONE thought-script you're going to FLIP today? Please share it with me on Instagram Stories and tag me @steelmaggiehq, or email me - maggie@steelmaggiemusic.com. "You’re listening to this podcast because you’re willing to go on this journey with me where we’ll progress into better and better versions of ourselves. You’re on the path of evaluation and evolution. And because of that, where you are now will NOT be where you are in a year. WHERE you are, WHAT you’ve done, HOW you suffer, WHO you’ve BEEN, if you don’t like that person, if you don't like how that person tends shows up in the world, then that doesn’t have to be who you will BE now and in the future. You’re here because you’re willing to do the work to be a victor and not a victim. We are victors with or without the warning labels. Because we own who we have been in the past, but we do not allow ourselves to be defined by any label, self-imposed or otherwise." -Steel Maggie MY NEW SINGLE "Warning Label" on Spotify
