A lot has changed since the last episode of Born to Rule was released. After Queen Elizabeth's death on September 8, 2022, Prince Charles became King Charles III and thereby fulfilled his destiny. But some things haven't changed – like the relationship between Prince Harry and the rest of the British royal family. Since excerpts from Prince Harry's much anticipated memoir, Spare, became public, the book has made headlines around the world. We're taking a look at the impact of this bombshell book. Keir Simmons sits down with Katie Nicholl, author of The New Royals and royal editor at Vanity Fair, and journalist and royal commentator, Afua Hagan, for a candid conversation about the impact this memoir could have on the reign of King Charles III.
During her Platinum Jubilee celebration this year, Queen Elizabeth greeted the crowds from the balcony at Buckingham Palace, dressed in bright blue with a cane in hand, at 96 years old… there's no denying change is coming. On her left: William, Kate, and the kids. On her right: Charles and Camilla. The message was clear — this is the future of the monarchy, with Charles at the helm. In our final episode, we're taking a look at what's next for the royal family. From Charles to William to little George, what does a modern monarchy look like? Where do Harry and Meghan fit in? And after 70 years of Queen Elizabeth's reign, is the world ready for King Charles?
The royal family is no stranger to controversy — and Prince Charles has often been at the center of the scandal-du-jour. What happens when he takes on the job of maintaining the monarchy's public image… the one he's been accused of tarnishing over the years? We'll take a look at the more recent scandals Charles has had to manage alongside the Queen – from questions about how some of his charities raise money to his brother Prince Andrew's settlement in a sexual abuse lawsuit, to his son Prince Harry's departure from the Firm. What other challenges might lie ahead for the future king, and how will he manage them?

In 1981, the world watched as Prince Charles married the perfect royal bride: Lady Diana Spencer. Young, beautiful, and stylish, Diana breathed new life into the monarchy. But the fairytale didn't last long. In the years that followed, Diana and Charles's troubled marriage and bitter divorce was a constant in the tabloids, and Diana's death in a car accident in 1997 shook the world. And through it all, Charles gained a reputation as an unfaithful husband to the “people's princess” as he carried on an affair with friend Camilla Parker Bowles. But today, Camilla — once known as the notorious “other woman” — is poised to become Queen Consort when Charles takes the throne. It's a reflection of the changes the monarchy has undergone in the aftermath of the Charles and Diana saga… and the fulfillment of Prince Charles's decades-long quest to have the love of his life accepted by the royal establishment and the British public.
This year, Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne. At age 96, the Queen is the longest-reigning monarch in British history, and her eldest son, Prince Charles, has waited longer than any heir presumptive in British history to ascend the throne. Practically no one alive today in the UK can remember a time before the Queen. But as his moment approaches, so does widespread apprehension: Can Prince Charles fill his mother's shoes? Will the people accept him as king? Is there even a place for monarchy in our modern world?
Prince Charles has long been seen as an eccentric - his passion for gardening and watercolor painting combined with his love of the luxurious royal life has given him the reputation of being out-of-touch with the average person. But Charles might also be considered ahead of his time - a long-time environmentalist who's been spearheading initiatives for sustainable living for more than 50 years. Many of the prince's ideas, at first quickly dismissed, have turned out to be prescient. We're taking a deeper look at this complex man. Did he become Prince Charles because of his upbringing or despite it? And how will the Prince Charles that we have come to know evolve into King Charles when he must meet his destiny.
This year marks Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, her 70th year as Queen of the United Kingdom. As the world prepares to celebrate an icon, the British royal establishment is working quietly behind the scenes to prepare the stage for Prince Charles to replace his mother and become King. It's the moment he was destined for – and at 73, he's been waiting a long time. But as his moment approaches, so does widespread apprehension: Can Prince Charles fill his mother's shoes? Will the people accept him as king? Is there even a place for monarchy in our modern world? In Born to Rule, NBC's Keir Simmons talks to journalists and royal insiders who've followed Prince Charles for decades to help us understand the man who will be king.
The households have split! The Queen had a date with Kate! Meg and Henry went on a babymoon, and there is a literal war of the roses as Kate's Chelsea Flower Show submission goes head to head with ... somebody else's. Oh - and the last three minutes are cut off on this episode, we do apologise. We were talking about how much the Queen Mum loved a tipple, but sadly it's been lost to the ether. Just know she did. She really did. We end up on a deep chat about Andrew and Fergie and their "are-they-or-aren't-they" rumours, to which we both say: "duh". They never really even broke up (hate to break it to you, Johnny Bryan). What was the deal with Cath's McQueen dress? Why was Meghan dressed like a nurse? Is Her Maj's hand bruise the sign of something more sinister? What did Stacey say that had to be bleeped out and had Beth all in a tizzy? In this episode of high drama, we take on your listener questions, discuss what happens when fashion goes rogue, and have clearly no idea how old Prince Edward is, nor the date of his birth. Happy birthday anyway, old chap, for ... sometime last week. Chuck makes a milestone birthday this year with his 70th, making him officially the heir to the throne who's had to wait the longest. His birthday celebrations were epic, his commemmorative photographs were tonal, and his wellwishes plenty. Speaking of plenty, there's been a royal extravaganza of outfits, which get a good going-over; and talk of Christmastime has us super-excited. It's the most wonderful time of the royal year! From Ascot to Dublin, Cheshire to St James's Palace, the BRF have been out everywhere doing all the things. We also wish happy birthdays to Georgie, Camilla, and Diana, Louis a happy christening (is that a thing?!), and our congratulations go to Her Maj for her epic fashion diplomacy Trump brooch troll. If that's legit, we give it five stars. Also: we call bullshit on the current reasoning for why Meghan wears shoes that are too big, and we have discussed at length this month's fashion choices from the comfort of clothes we wouldn't be caught dead in public in. Oh what a week it was in Royal Watcher Land! Happy 92nd Birthday Queen Liz! The Commonwealth Couple Haz and Meg get trotted out for EVERYTHING! Funny facials and tiaras at the CHOGM dinner! (tbh we'd be making those eyes at Justin Trudeau too, given the chance). THAT cape dress! Are we breaking royal fashion rules with handbags?! Shoes that fit! What an utter delight. Of course, this week has produced a royal heir, Baby Cambridge #3 - which happened after we recorded this episode, forgive us. Next ep will be a bumper baby episode as we cover off Kate's epic effort, and say goodbye to Beth who will be winging her way to Windsor to cover the Royal Wedding. It has been an extraordinarily busy fortnight for the Buckingham Palace clan - kicking off with the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey and finishing up with Kate making an unexpected cameo at several events prior to popping her feet up for a rest before Cambridge Baby #3 arrives! Just... let's not mention the mint outfit. We've hats galore, Haz in a jumper, Beth's distaste for the Abbey floral arrangements, how soon is too soon to get married, royal wedding cake news, and what happens with the royal family over Easter. It's a doozy. ALSO: Don't miss Beth's very exciting announcement here! Kate has found herself with a penchant for high necks and long sleeves these days, Meghan loves a belted wrap dress... and they have both busted them out in several shades of blue in the last couple of weeks. Blue! Does it mean Kate's dropping a hint? *spoiler* UM, NO. In the first episode of The Throne Rangers podcast, Stacey and Beth cover off the recent Royal Foundation Forum, our distaste for the media moniker "The Fab Four", The Queen unveiling a plaque at the International Something-Something, and the rumour that Meghan has in fact had her hen do at a D-A-I-Y-E spa already, a titbit that raises Stacey's eyebrows about as far as they can go. A hen do so early? Without her mum? We smell a rat. So grab your tea and scones and dive right in to Episode One. She's a blinder. Royal Guest Experts Amanda Littlefield and Marilyn Braun The House of Windsor has a new addition! On May 2, 2015, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge was born at 8:34 a.m. London time. With the given name Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, the Princess entered into this world with as much pageantry and fanfare as one would expect for a royal. Following the birth of Princess Charlotte, many landmarks were lit pink including Tower Bridge, London Eye, and the Trafalgar Square. One thing is certain, the British love their monarchy! Of note, Princess Charlotte is scheduled to be christened on July 5, 2015 at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham by Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury. Coincidentally, this is the same church in which Princess Diana was baptized. On this episode, I have two royal experts as my guests to discuss everything from Princess Charlotte's lineage to her upbringing. If you are a fan of the British royals, you won't want to miss the episode. And even, if you're not, listen anyway to become one!

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent part of Wednesday in Elizabeth and we were there to bring you the colour and the insights - and Steve brought back something quite unexpected! With this show going out on Anzac Day Eve, we took time to look at the first Anzac Day event ever, which took place in Adelaide in 1915. Continuing the historic theme, we chatted with Chloe from Yelp about the Nanna Skillz Tasting Festival on Sunday, May 4. It will feature demonstrations of the skills of yesteryear from brewing to pickling. And in a further acknowledgement of Anzac Day, we chat with Louanna Hacket, an exercise physiologist from Funlife Fitness Centre at Ingle Farm, about her work rehabilitating veterans. Plus there's wine from the Barossa, music from Ben Searcy and a saucy Adelaide Visa Council.
