Attack on Titan verbreitete sich zum Start der ersten Staffel des Animes im Jahr 2013 rasend schnell um die ganze Welt. Manche machen Attack on Titan sogar dafür verantwortlich, dass wir heute weltweit nahezu jeden Anime nach Start in Japan legal streamen können und nicht mehr auf überteuerte DVD-Releases warten müssen. Für viele, die heute Animes schauen und lieben, war Attack on Titan der Einstieg. Mit mindestens einem weinenden Auge werden sich die meisten die letzten Folgen dieser genreprägenden Serie anschauen. Doch an Attack on Titan gab es immer wieder auch Kritik. Die Serie bediene sich antisemitischer Erzählungen und sei eine der beliebtesten Serien in neurechten Kreisen. Das Militär und faschistische Gedanken würden glorifiziert. In unserer ersten Podcast-Folge im neuen Jahr sprechen wir darüber, warum es wichtig ist, über Attack on Titan zu sprechen und zu streiten. Bisher konnte man sich GRENZGEBIET entweder im Rahmen der ROTZFRECH CINEMA Kinotour anschauen oder auf einem der Film-Festivals, die den Dokumentarfilm im Programm hatten. Wir haben uns den DVD Release zum Anlass genommen um mit dem Regisseur Matti Cordewinus über das Filmprojekt zu sprechen, wie die Idee zum Film entstanden ist, Hintergründe und die drei Protagonisten Alex, Ivan und Shacke, der in der ILG Podcast Episode 042 bereits über seine Rolle im 73minütigen Film erzählt hat. Die drei Sprüher aus Berlin machen Urlaub in Osteuropa. Bald wird klar, dass die drei Freunde nur auf eines geeicht sind: Wo steht der nächste Zug? Wie kommen wir ungesehen heran? Wie ungeschoren davon? Letztendlich handelt GRENZGEBIET von drei jungen Menschen, die sich auf das Besprühen von Zügen spezialisiert haben. Dabei verzichtet der Film aber auf das Ablichten ihrer Werke, fokussiert ihre Gesichter wenn es eng wird, fängt Stimmungen ein und schnodderige Dialoge.
