Can we find the Hamas sleeper cells in America? What's next in Israel? Mike O'Rourke, retired Special Forces and International Security Consultant joins Since 9/11, we have imported over 2.3 million people from Islamist countries. Let's say we vetted them all thoroughly, though we all know we didn't, and we're right that 99% are solid refugees who truly want to be free — again a ridiculously impossible hit rate but stay with me. That other 1% would represent over 23,000 potential terrorist sleeper cells spread throughout our homeland. That's a lot of wannabe Mohammed Attas. That's a lot of death and carnage they could cause. Enjoy! In this special edition of the Clubb Chimera Martial Arts podcast, we re-visit Halloween 1828 and the climax of a series of cold-blooded murders. Taking a self-protection eye, we look at how raw opportunity and circumstance tempted two infamous criminals to sell the lives of their own for profit. The podcast raises questions regarding victim selection and how it can be defeated through target hardening as well as the weaponising of alcohol by criminals, the importance of training against multiple attackers and on the ground, and the need to promote safeguarding in the community.Resources for this Episode:Clubb Chimera Martial Arts Facebook GroupClubb Chimera WebsiteClubb Chimera Facebook PageClubb Chimera TwitterClubb Chimera YouTubeClubb Chimera InstagramJamie Clubb BooksBurke and Hare: The Year of the Ghouls by Brian BaileyThe Real Mary PatersonThe Anatomy Murders Corpse of the Day--James Wilson, alias Daft JamieTravelsafe: The Complete Guide to Travel Security by Peter ConsterdineDrinkaware Music Credits: MATTIA CUPELLIDark Tension Rising Musichttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zvQoPyY2XE&t=31s TeknoAXE's Royalty Free MusicIrish Tin Whistle -- Celtic/Dancehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyNnsQ8gLnQ "Alexander Nakarada - Towards The Horizon" is under a Creative Commons (CC-BY 3.0) licenseMusic promoted by BreakingCopyright: https://bit.ly/bkc-towards Information on private lessons, seminars, webinars and the many different services offered by Clubb Chimera Martial Arts. The question that many Security Drivers and Secure Transportation providers have heard – “Why do I need a Security Driver – Why can't we use a chauffeur service?” Or – why can't we use an Uber or Lyft car? A few years ago there was an article that appeared in Security Magazine, titled “What to Look for in Travel Security and Executive Protection Services.” While the article may be old the content is still valid. The author concludes that while the Executive is traveling, having a security-trained driver is paramount to a successful executive protection program. As the author emphasizes in the article, the benefits of a security-trained driver extend well beyond their greater ability to utilize a vehicle's performance capabilities, and we'll add, particularly in unfamiliar locations far from home. The article goes on to say that there is no formal definition of “security-trained driver” that exists; there is no central governing body whose credentials you can trust to lead you to the right provider. A “Security-trained driver” could mean anything from a military veteran with 20+ years of relevant experience to a taxi driver who's gone through a defensive driving program. We respectfully disagree with that comment. Mention Links The origin of the 80% standard in the Science of Security Driving Chauffeur vs. Security Driver Key Quotes "There has been a standard accepted by the corporate Kidnap and Ransom Insurance (K&R) and the High-Net-Worth (HNW) community for more than four decades. It is called the 80% standard." "A good chauffeur is concerned about not spilling the boss's coffee and avoiding bumps. Generally, chauffeurs can handle routine emergencies if they happen slowly. This has nothing in common with the skills needed for a trained security driver.

In today's very politically and economically unstable world the tourism and hospitality industries have no choice but to be sensitive to the needs of security and safety (S&S), and to emphasize public health requirements. Despite this needed emphasis on Covid-19 and the universal pandemic, other classical issues of tourism security and safety still exist and should not be ignored. Security and safety professionals continuously reexamine these issues and are constantly seeking new ways to assure that the public is safe during its travel experience. Each security incident makes the travel industry's many components ever more sensitive to the fact that every S&S decision is not only a security decision but also a business decision. Many of us have come to take traveling with our computers and mobile devices without remembering the security issues that may come about while being abroad. There are situations that should give you a second thought about how to travel with your personal devices, and while the risk varies, there are security steps, especially as a national security worker, that you should consider when planning to travel abroad or domestically. Each year, about 32 million American women travel solo, according to the Travel Industry Association. For female solo-travelers, safety is always top of mind. Erika Weisbrod, director of security solutions for International SOS, is an expert in travel risk management. Weisbrod breaks down the factors women should consider when traveling, what are the necessary precautions they should take and how to approach different situations overseas. Diana Edelman, who spent many years as a travel blogger living in various countries, discusses the pros and cons of the ex-pat lifestyle compared to vacationing. Edelman explains her realization that she was "running away" via travel instead of traveling to explore, which can happen when we feel feel depressed or anxious or lonely or stuck.
We report a bit on one aspect of ChannelCon. Both Black Hat and DefCon were in Vegas during ChannelCon. So the question is: Are we any LESS secure with these folks in town? Of course this leads into a discussion of what the three of us do to keep our "devices" secure while we travel. Somewhat related links: https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/columnist/2019/08/12/how-safe-is-your-wifi-connection/1984961001/ https://www.theverge.com/2019/8/11/20800979/check-point-canon-eos-80d-dslr-malware-ransomware-cybersecurity All of this discussion can be used to help educate your clients. We recommend that you schedule regular security trainings as a way to engage clients on the "business" level. Topic 2: University buys Amazon Dots for every student dorm room. Interestingly, this program is not sponsored by Amazon. The specific device is Alexa for Business & Voice. Once again, this is the march of the advancement of voice at the user interface. Link: https://www.cnet.com/features/alexa-time-for-class-how-one-university-put-an-echo-dot-in-every-dorm-room/ Interesting take-away: No one who puts a program like this in place is going to do it themselves. You may or may not make money on devices, but the consulting opportunity is huge. Topic 3: Decency - Kind of. Internet companies in the U.S. are not held liable for things posted on their medium if those postings are not controlled by the hosting service. For example: You can't sue Yelp for ratings or comments made by users on Yelp. Background: Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act is blamed for everything from social-media bias to enabling revenge porn. Angela Chen explains the law that created the modern internet. You may have received a version of Allister's show that had the oddest digital honking noise on Sandy's review - I'll explain in this show what we think happened. Then I'll answer a dumb question about how to copy and then paste plain text in iOS. I'll go through a rather fun "Tech in Travel" segment about how we did our tech on the trip. From diagramming via draw.io to keeping my camera safe from water to Google Fi. Then Bart is back with a segment of Security Bits that really needed the palate cleanser at the end!
