Howdy y'all! We can feel it, so we're chasing it! (Yeah maybe that line is only cool if Glen Powell is saying it). Welcome back to the show, and today the boys are breaking down TWISTERS, a new summer blockbuster lega-sequel that audiences are loving! Us, however? A divide once more. But you're used to that by now. We also unpack ten films each that we really enjoy, but have terrible, terrible endings that ruin them from being incredible films. From Best Picture winners to auteur directors, it's hot take after hot take in the second half of the episode. Spoilers for all films we mention, but you'll have plenty of time to skip forward if you haven't seen the film! Timestamps: 0:00 - 13:30: Twisters NON-SPOILER review. 13:30 - 30:40: Twisters SPOILER review. 30:40 - 1:29:22: Worst 10 Endings in Great Films. 1:29:22 - 1:31:17: Wrap up. - Also, make sure to check us out on Instagram (@bromaxpod) to keep up with new eps and polls, and leave us your ideas for upcoming episodes! - Also, our merch is still active on Redbubble, so make sure to have a browse of our range over there. - Also, subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or Google Podcasts so you never miss an episode! Hey y'all! Sorry for the late upload, the Sydney Film Festival has kicked off and is all we can think about at the moment! Our episode about what we watched during the time is coming soon! Today, Joel and Jesse select ten film franchises each, five good and five bad, and single out the one film in the franchise that is different, either for the best or for the worst. This is less of an educated film discussion, and more the boys paying each other out for an hour, as there are franchises on Joel's good list on Jesse's bad list AND vice versa. This one's a ton of fun, we hope you enjoy! Mr. RAH is on to discuss his work restoring and preserving historic and important films, how he got started, how he sees the health of restoration efforts, and his side gig of giving “A Few Words About” recent releases: How he got started doing film restoration. How is restoration different than preservation? Thoughts on the colorization of B&W movies Color correction Restoration of 3D or High Frame Rate films? How badly did the pandemic affect studios efforts to restore films? Is the “industry” of restoration in bad shape? Are the studios losing their appetite for big restorations? Has studio consolidation or move to streaming affected the calculus? Has he embraced streaming? What films that haven't made their way to disk does he most want to see? What does he wish our readers understood better about restoration efforts? “A Few Words About” Plus a hilarious Good Bad and Ugly

Hello and Welcome to another episode of Sorry You’re In My Seat! This week our heroes take on films shot in “one location”, such as 12 Angry Men, Speed, The Raid and so many others! Our heroes try to find out what makes a Single location film all the more special. Can you make a single location masterpiece? (Well obviously you can, 12 Angry Men). Listen as our heroes talk about this style of film making across all types of genres. Free Fire. Saw. Dredd. So many to choose from! Sam sets James and Aaron the task of pitching their own Single location ideas. Get in touch and tell us who wins! Do our heroes use this as another opportunity to talk about Die Hard? Do they finally let Speed 2: Cruise Control have it? What 90’s action film do Aaron and James secretly love? How the hell has Sam still not seen Snowpiercer? I mean honestly you need to watch it. If you haven’t seen it stop reading right now, go on Netflix and watch it. Don’t be a Sam. Now, where were we? Which mighty AI based film did Aaron finally get round to seeing this week? All these questions answered and more. If you like, don’t forget to subscribe and leave a comment. If you didn’t like it, feel free to keep it to yourself.
Another great selection of films that will interest Catholics.

We're back again with another movie-themed podcast, this one in which we discuss our favorite Movies Sequels of all time. Movies are a subject we're pretty passionate about so these kinds of discussions are usually pretty easy to have. Its the original Podcast crew today, Linda Ashbook, RJ Carnesi and Larry Lloyd reuniting (it has been a long time since our Will Ferrell movies discussion) to give you our thoughts about movie sequels. We open up our lists at the 2:30 mark but it only takes about two minutes for a good laugh to emerge thanks to the ever funny Linda Ashbrook (she's our show's Lucille Ball). We also go off on the tangent of "what is a movie sequel" a couple of times. For example, when a filmmaker makes one long film that gets separated into two features, for whatever reason, is the second film really a sequel??? Deep philosophical discussions are needed to address questions like this! Also discussed a few times is how RJ is just not a fan of big tent-pole type movie properties (like Avengers and Harry Potter). He likes what he likes! We did find at the 22:35 mark that he didn't like the Solo installment of the Star Wars franchise at all. We get another funny, if somewhat dark, story courtesy of Linda at 26:40. RJ also spills the beans about just when this was recorded around 27:45. Major, and extraordinarily sad event was unfurling before our eyes as we sat down to record this one. We also talked about a trip to Italy we were planning at the time, a trip since blown up by Coronavirus. We wrap up by talking about a few movies that didn't make our list, discussing at length how Samwise Gamgee would have made a MUCH better ring bearer that Fredo/Frodo!Enjoy the episode and please leave us some feedback. A review of 13 great films for Catholics to enjoy!
By the time Emilio Estevez was 23, he'd starred in The Outsiders, Repo Man, The Breakfast Club, and St. Elmo’s Fire. As the son of Martin Sheen, he was Hollywood royalty, and as a member of the "brat pack" group of early-80s stars, he was a hot commodity. But he started turning down big roles to become the youngest person ever to write, direct, and star in a major motion picture. Estevez tells Alec that his script for that movie was "terrible," -- but it was risky, ambitious movie-making at a time when he didn't have to take risks. Estevez occasionally returned to "just acting" after that, for beloved performances in Men at Work, The Mighty Ducks, and more -- but his heart beats for his writer/director projects like 2006’s RFK masterpiece Bobby, nominated for a Best Film Golden Globe. His latest is The Public, about a fictional occupation of the Cincinnati Public Library by the city's homeless. Alec plays the police negotiator. The two actors discuss their collaboration -- plus growing up a Sheen, Francis Ford Coppola's brutal audition process, and whether actors should participate in the fan culture surrounding cult films like The Breakfast Club.

Throughout the history of cinema, audiences have found the process of filmmaking to be a fascinating subject. Seeing the “behind the scenes” workings of hollywood is a special treat and for indie filmmakers it can provide real insight. In this episode, I focus on 5 great Films About Filmmaking. Dumb Nerds: Comedians Talking About Smart Topics They're Too Dumb For
Stanley Kubrick. What is this famous filmmaker’s deal? Known for making groundbreaking films like “2001 Space Odyssey”, “The Shining”, “Dr. Strangelove”, "Full Metal Jacket", "Lolita" and more, perfecting the steady cam and mastering shots like the reverse tracking shot. Meanwhile some speculate he also filmed a fake Moon Landing for the U.S. Government to beat the Soviet Union in the Space Race. Guest Adam Moshcatel (You’re Gonna Love This Podcast) and host, Cassi Jerkins, nerd out over their favorite Kubrick films, his unsettling behavior on set, his average childhood and discuss their own theories on whether he filmed the moon landing or not. Sit back, relax and enjoy an episode dedicated to Stanley Kubrick. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Stepping away from the world of Perfect Movies, the Film Guys take a look at three motion pictures that altered the march of the movies forever. These three, The Great Train Robbery (1903), The Jazz Singer (1927), and Star Wars (1977) each gave the film biz a badly needed injection of life at a time when revenues were falling. If you have a film you feel changed the course of film, please drop us a line!
Kevin Stein and Angie Smith discuss their favorite Martin Scorsese films on Movie Time with Kevin Stein airing on Southern Utah University's Thunder 91. Kevin's father Craig Stein makes a special appearance on the program.
In this episode, Fariha and Kiva use the “Muslim ban” put in place by U.S. President Trump as a jumping-off point to highlight some of the exceptional filmmakers working in the seven countries affected by the Executive Order. They discuss Iraqi filmmaker Hussein Hassan’s decision not to bring his documentary THE DARK WIND to the Miami Film Festival because of the ban. Asghar Farhadi, similarly, opted not to attend the Academy Awards despite the Best Foreign Language Film nomination for THE SALESMAN. They discuss the importance of being an ally to these filmmakers, and the role that programming and criticism can play. Not to mention the importance of simply seeing these films, and telling your friends to see them too. Film is powerful at a moment like this, Fariha and Kiva believe, because of the humanizing effect of experiencing stories about real people's lives from regions which are often considered by the news media solely in terms of politics or conflict. Listen in to find out about some filmmakers to watch from these seven countries: Iran: Asghar Farhadi, THE SALESMAN, A SEPARATION (and a shout out to actor Golshifteh Farahani) Iraq: Mohamed Al-Daradji, SON OF BABYLON Atia Al Daradji and Mohamed Al-Daradji, IN MY MOTHER’S ARMS Somalia: Fathia Absie, BROKEN DREAMS Sudan: Atak Ngor, ATAK’S FILM Libya: Various Directors, LIBYA IN MOTION Yemen: Sara Ishaq, KARAMA HAS NO WALLS, THE MULBERRY HOUSE Syria: Diana El Jeiroudi, DOLLS: A WOMAN FROM DAMASCUS Further reading: Kerry James Marshall is expanding the canon with his latest show at the Met: http://theartnewspaper.com/news/museums/kerry-james-marshall-makes-his-picks-from-the-met-s-collection/ At the Miami Film Festival, Hussein Hassan protested the ban by cancelling his visa application: http://www.indiewire.com/2017/01/iraq-filmmaker-protests-trump-muslim-ban-withdraws-visa-application-miami-film-festival-1201774530/ If you are in Toronto, check out Hot Docs’ Ban This Series, a free screening series of documentaries from the banned countries: http://www.hotdocscinema.ca/responsive/content/ban_this_series
