Are you feeling that persistent whisper that there's something more for you professionally? In this conversation with Christina, career and mindset coach, we explore the reality of career transitions in midlife. Christina shares her personal journey from feeling trapped in a role that affected her health and relationships to creating a business that allows her to help women find careers that truly align with their strengths and values. This episode offers practical wisdom for women navigating their own career crossroads — whether considering a complete change, returning to work, or simply seeking more fulfilment.Key TakeawaysListen to your intuitionThose persistent nudges and whispers are signaling something important. Christina encourages following these "breadcrumbs" as they often lead to your most authentic path, even when the destination isn't yet clear. You don't need permissionMany midlife women feel they need external validation to make career changes. Christina's message is clear: "You have our permission to step forward and take the courage to do what you want to do."Uncover your patternsReflect on what you've enjoyed most (and least) throughout your career. Look for recurring themes to identify your true strengths and values—these become your compass for future decisions.Small steps create momentumYou don't need to make dramatic changes overnight. Taking incremental actions—volunteering for projects, shadowing others, or developing specific skills—prepares you for when the timing is right.Self-worth drives changeThe biggest barrier for many women isn't external circumstances but internal beliefs about being worthy of the career they truly desire. Addressing these beliefs is often the catalyst for transformation. If Christina's insights resonated with you, take a moment to journal about that "one thing you've been avoiding" in your career journey. What small step could you take this week toward a more fulfilling professional life? Remember, life doesn't end at 50—for many women, including Christina, that's when it truly begins to flourish. Your experience and wisdom are valuable assets as you design this next chapter. To connect with Christina, find her on the links below.www.hercareercoach.com.auhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/christinastorey/instagram.com/hercareercoachHer Career Coach Podcast is available on all streaming platforms.Want to explore working with her? Higher education leaders who want to increase inclusion while maintaining affordability at their campus can emulate the actions of the Illinois Institute of Technology. By following three core principles, Illinois Tech has ranked first in the state for people it has successfully moved from the bottom 20th percentile of household income to the upper 20th percentile. Illinois Tech is also one of just 88 institutions named an American Talent Initiative ‘High-Flier' by the Aspen Talent Institute and Bloomberg Philanthropies for ensuring college access and success. Moreover, Illinois Tech's employment rate is 92% six months after graduation, even when 37% of its students receive Pell Grants. In this episode of Changing Higher Ed® podcast, Dr. Drumm McNaughton speaks with President Raj Echambadi of the Illinois Institute of Technology about the four principles that have allowed Illinois Tech to experience so much success. They include boosting inclusion through experiential learning opportunities, providing more pathways for students, and embracing digital education. Podcast Highlights Illinois Tech pairs technology education with human-centered education by mandating experiential learning opportunities. These include not only students learning from faculty but also students learning from each other and faculty learning from students. Because of how the public perceives higher ed, institutions must provide different pathways for students to receive an education. This involves no longer thinking of students as a monolith that can benefit from a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, institutions must think about individual student groups and look at their different needs and motivations to develop more effective value propositions. For example, after learning that students were concerned about affordability, Illinois Tech partnered with the local community college system, the City Colleges of Chicago, to create an innovative program. Students can now spend their first year at City Colleges to take post-secondary courses at community college prices while living on the Illinois Tech campus. They can also join student organizations and participate in activities at Illinois Tech. This not only addresses affordability but boosts a sense of belonging for students. For its student-centered approach, Illinois Tech has been asked to join REP4 Rapid Education Prototyping, which is an alliance of like-minded institutions that devise strategies by learners for learners. It is a bottom-up orientation, where the learners design and dictate the learning strategy. At the same time, it becomes the job of educational leaders to make sure that those strategies get implemented so their learners remain empowered. Illinois Tech embraces a hybrid model due to student demand and to increase accessibility for those who work full-time jobs, for example. Before joining Illinois Tech, Raj developed and launched the first scaled online MBA program in partnership with Coursera at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. That program happens to be the largest online program in the world. Ten percent of all online MBAs in the United States come from the university. Read the transcript → About Our Podcast Guest Raj Echambadi, the 10th president of Illinois Institute of Technology, is steering the institution towards preeminence by prioritizing economic mobility, accessible education, human-centered technologists, and purposeful citizenship. Collaborating with university leaders, he has launched the groundbreaking ELEVATE program, which offers experiential learning, personalized mentorship, and job readiness, resulting in remarkable enrollment growth and recognition as an ATI High-Flier institution by Bloomberg Philanthropies. Echambadi's previous role as dean of the D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University and his involvement in pioneering online education further underscore his transformative vision. This will make me sound crazy. There was part of me that thought; maybe I'd smoked too much weed in my life. Very soon after doing deep subconscious mindset and healing work with my coach, it was like some secret magical portal opened. And I started seeing sh!t. At the main yoga studio, I've been going to five days a week for over a year, putting my mat in multiple places on the wood floor, and taking from the same instructors….on this regular day something WILD happened. I look in the front of my mat while in a balancing pose, and there appears a clear friendly symbol with a face speaking to me. (This is when I thought I could be losing my mind for real). In a calm yet firm male tone of voice, he said, “I'm here.” I did acknowledge him after I looked around the room to see if anyone was staring at me. I kept this to myself, but I couldn't stop thinking about Him. On my way to a yoga class the next morning I thought, “There's no way he'll be here again, that was some out-of-body moment.” But I secretly hoped he would be there. Halfway through class, I still hadn't seen Him, so I thought “ see Tiff that was just a weird random moment.” Then about 5 minutes later He appeared with the same message “I'm here.” “WTF,” I thought, “it happened again.” I was shocked, and excited, yet didn't fully trust it (more on that in the episode). I waited until this happened 3 more times before telling my Coach, and by this point, he had a name, “Bernard.” Brenda, who's on today's episode, was not surprised at all by this, what she said is, “Bernard has actually been there all along, you're vibrating at a high enough frequency now to see and communicate with him.” The story only gets wilder from here. What if being a leader in academia doesn't have to mean taking on an administrative role? What if it means so much more than that? When we hear people talking about leadership in academia, what they often mean is admin. Leadership to your institution probably means a department chair or associate director, or other role that helps the university to function. But if admin just isn't a fit for you, does that mean you're not a leader? No way. If this conversation inspired you in any way, don't miss out on the info session for the next cohort of Elevate! 7 Business Success Habits - I recently interviewed Michelle Gregory, Founder of Promotional Products, during one of my Masterclasses for my Elevate Program. She shared with me and the viewers how she incorporated seven success habits into her business to grow it into a multi-million dollar enterprise. Enjoy
In this session, we answer some questions Ximena had about how to ace Hirevues, which are becoming more common as the first initial screen that banks use during the interview process. She has also started studying for technical interviews, so we answer some of her questions around the three financial statements. In this session, we go through Ximena's answers for all the market related questions that typically come up in investment banking interviews. For example, questions around macroeconomic or industry trends that you've been following, an investment banking deal that you find interesting, and stock pitch questions. All of these questions require you to diligently follow the markets and also come prepared with intelligent commentary about what's happening in the world. In this session, we start working on Ximena's behavioral answers by giving her feedback on what we call "the guaranteed questions". These questions include tell me about yourself, or walk me through your resume, why investment banking, and why our bank. These are usually the first and most important questions that get asked in any interview, so it's crucial to knock these questions out of the park if you hope to get an offer. In this session, we give Ximena feedback on the next set of behavioral questions, including why she's interested in a particular coverage group within investment banking. We also focus on all the resume related questions, such as why she chose her school and major, as well as walking through the most relevant internship experiences she's had to date, which are her search fund internships. We also game plan on all the things she needs to start doing in order to be prepared for the diversity recruiting process. In this session we review the initial draft of Ximena's networking contact log, strategize on which banks she wants to target, and how to set goals for how many bankers she should reach out to throughout her networking process. We also discuss who she should target to get better conversion rates for the amount of effort she's putting in. In this session, we introduce Ximena, who is the first student to go through our ELEVATE Scholarship Program where we help high potential students break into investment banking with a full scholarship to our program. We talk about her background a little bit, and then spend most of the session taking a fine comb through her resume. Check out the difference in her resume before she started working with Wall Street Mastermind, to the final draft we ended up with at the end. Having this much improved resume is going to give her a strong foundation for her recruiting efforts, as she uses this resume for all of her networking and application processes. That's a big fear; you're thinking you're going to be judged, what do I look like? Am I going to stutter? And you know, we have the opportunity to do that in that group and get feedback that hones in feeling better about ourselves, which will build us up." - Denise Baldwin "With the Elevate Program, I liked the psychological part of it. A big aha moment for me was pricing. It's pretty legit; that's how our minds think. So it's a good implementation into your business and pricing structure if you're stuck or you don't know what to do." - Denise Baldwin "Straight out of the box, I didn't want to sound too woo woo but I mean, how the whole getting out of your way and really trying to do it. April's support and clubhouse and those words that she says and then all the support that she has with her being so you don't feel you're up here, and we're down here." - Denise Baldwin "I used to hang on every word during COVID. I would listen to your[April] podcast, and I was like, just getting really motivated in an unmotivated time. That's what I liked, because I'm like, okay, Denise, keep going, keep going. And that's what touches us. It's not like you're out there to just sell a course. I never felt that way about you. You genuinely want to help. And that's a biggie." - Denise Baldwin "If it wasn't for Elevate, not just that you learn. It's the other side, which is the confidence and the building of knowing you can do it. And it's not just those words, because everybody says that you can do it, keep going. That's great. You need something else, especially right now, so hard. There are so many artists, there's so much comparison, it's incredibly ridiculous. So with just having that nice little feeling of what you have to offer, and now the friendships that I've made with these other women is amazing." - Denise Baldwin Resource: Grow your business with a proven and repeatable system. Why you have to check out today's podcast: Find out essential lessons in successfully running your beauty business from a lion's story of being the king of the jungle. Learn what backup client attraction strategies you need to have in place, just in case your social media breaks down. Hear about the one necessary tool that you must keep running to have a sustainable beauty business Do you feel like you're defeated or sometimes losing confidence? Are you comparing your work and your business with others? Do you wish your business was bigger, you were moving faster, or that your skills were better? Are self-doubt and fear holding you back from your full potential in your beauty business? This episode highlights the qualities of a lion & lioness that you should adopt to improve your beauty business. The lion may not be the smartest, fastest, or biggest, but he is still considered the king of them all. You may be feeling the same way in your beauty business; however, you can look to the lion for inspiration on the qualities to possess so that you can rise to the top. So let's work on our weaknesses, be bold, and take action. Most importantly, look deep into your 'why,' and that will see you through. Topics Covered: 01:01 - Being at the top 02:30 - Overview of how we can learn from nature 10:23 - The primary qualities you need to succeed in your beauty business 11:17 - Tapping into your deepest why 12:02 - What it means to have that certainty 13:46 - Surviving and thriving in your beauty business 15:03 - Why you should stop second guessing yourself 15:54 - The ripple effect when you step up and take that leap of faith 18:31 - Putting out positivity and letting that law of attraction work for you Key Takeaways: "If you look at it, the lion is not the biggest; that's the elephant. It's not the fastest; that's a cheetah, it's not the smartest. But it is the king of the jungle. And I think this comes down to mentality, like the way the lion thinks." - April Meese "Social media is great, but not as your only way of getting clients. You have to have a backup strategy. If social media completely went down, my business would be fine. And I want the same for you, too. That's why we teach referral partners and those power partners because like the lion, there's power in numbers." - April Meese "Lions work in groups. They work in packs because there is power in numbers. When you can team up with other like-minded businesses, all for similar goals that benefit everyone, that is where you're really going to leverage your time." - April Meese "The lion likes to hunt in a storm because their prey actually won't hear them coming on. And that's so interesting. Instead of thinking of it as your prey, think of it as your competition. What are they doing where they might be distracted and wasting time, and there's a time that you can really make the most of it. And really give it your all, instead of halfway going through it." - April Meese "If you're feeling like, I'm not who I am; I'm not the biggest, I'm not the smartest, again, tap into that courage to be brave to reach out to your tribe. I know that you're also going to need some tools. It's going to take your faith and your mentality. It's going to take your action and your courage, and it's going to take some tools, some systems to help get you there and go after it." - April Meese Resource: Grow your business with a proven and repeatable system. Do you ever think you’ve tried it all...and nothing works - that there’s not a glimmer of hope left in your world? How about that fear gripping you all along that you think you are just being practical about not pursuing your goal? Are you just really gonna walk away from the business you’ve worked so hard for? Think about it again, you might just be like Michele, downright unsure of herself. Listen to her as she shares her journey and amazing transformation with the Elevate Program. You might just want it to happen to you, as well. Michele Moore-Breiten is the owner and artist at Defined Beauty Permanent Makeup. Permanent makeup has become her passion which is why continuing education is important to her. She has attention to detail and amazing customer service. In this episode, Michele shares how the struggle was real for her, from being gripped with fear, with no confidence to step up ahead in her business, with barely one client a day to attend to, and with her own personal issues to think about all the way to becoming a new version of herself - someone with clarity, focus and most of all, a fantastic transformation and conversion in both herself and her business.
What keeps you holding back? Why are you still holding on to your excuses? Do you really think you know it all? Truth is, we all have this chatter running through our heads; ‘I am not good enough’, ‘I’m just too busy for it’, ‘I know everything about this...why not just read a book again or go watch YouTube’, ‘I’m not confident to show up’, ‘I’ll do it later’. The excuses are endless. Have you really thought about where all this perfectionism and procrastination leaves you and your business? Let’s take a look at that and meet Chelsea and know her life before and after Elevate. You might just find yourself in her and the Elevate Program might just be what you need to scale up from where you are now. For Chelsea Larsen, growing up, art was just a way of life for her. She did the drawing and painting and it became second nature to her and she chose to pursue a career in the tattoo industry, feeding the creativity of her soul, and she discovered makeup and more specifically corrected makeup and she fell in love and so she now does permanent makeup. Let’s listen in to Chelsea as she uncovers herself - the self-doubting, the perfectionist/procrastinating, the ever-busy mom of two, and the know-it-all woman before the Elevate program to become the confident and ever raring entrepreneur she’s cut out for.
How would you feel if you reached a point when what fuels your business is pocketed from your household’s grocery budget? If that is not enough to imagine it, add this...you have 8 mouths to feed and you are a solo parent. AND you are full of self-doubt and wouldn’t consider asking for help from anyone. Meet Heidi Henderson. This was her reality, but as fate would have it, she betted on her only chance at turning things around for her and her children. Let’s hear her story with the Elevate Program. Heidi Henderson, RT, CRT, is a permanent makeup artist and Paramedical Tattooist in Bakersfield, Ca. where she owns a “New You Permanent Makeup.” After many years in the medical field as a Respiratory Therapist and Neurological Rehabilitation aide, she decided to open her own business and join the ever-growing field of aesthetics with a focus on helping cancer survivors and trauma victims complete their reconstruction with Areola tattooing and scar camouflage. She enjoys spending her spare time with her children and working on gardening and DIY home improvement projects. Let’s listen in to Heidi as she recalls her life before the Elevate Program, being that insanely introvert human being with a business that’s “circling down the drain” and how it was transformed into something not even herself could begin to imagine.
Maybe you have a lot going through your mind right now. You are not tech-savvy and are too old to learn new things. Or maybe, you say, ‘I know a lot already and my business is doing well…..there’s nothing in it for me anymore.’ But what if, just when you thought you’ve got everything all figured out, the Elevate Program could do so much more for you and your beauty business as it has done for Molly? Molly Klip is the sole owner of Carefree Beauty Permanent Makeup with two locations in Lynwood and Arlington, Washington. She's been practicing permanent cosmetics for over six years. And she specializes in micro-blading and Soft Tap powder eyebrows. And she also teaches a 100-hour curriculum for cosmetics. Her 30 years of being in the cosmetic industry and running a multimillion-dollar organization drive her to help others. She has an extensive background in beauty and running businesses. And she's received awards, two years running for the Best of Lynwood for Permanent Makeup for 2019 and 2020. And she was one of the earliest winners of the Aloette’s Eagle award for her contributions to Aloette’s. Molly has also co-authored two books - Image Power and Mom Entrepreneur Extraordinaire. And she's also a board member of the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals and on the board of directors since 2018. She also served as the Secretary and Quarterly Editor. And she's going to be serving another two years coming up. Let’s listen in to this episode as Molly shares how the Elevate Program impacted a change in herself as well as in her business. Starting a new venture later in life and not being a tech geek, she was able to do so much more than you can imagine for her beauty business.

Acceptance & Forgiveness - Forgiving Other People & Forgiving Ourselves Kyla Edwards Self Mastery Coach, she helps women overcome negative thinking & self doubt One-on-one coaching program called “Elevate” Q: What was your story of Self-Mastery & Forgiveness? I grew up in a very white environment in the Caribbean, I'm mixed race From an early age, I struggled with acceptance I wanted to be white like everyone else around me My mother's partner was abusive to me. I really resented myself, I had a lot of guilt & shame I wanted to be anyone other than myself The environment I grew up in was very turbulent. It didn't feel safe to be who I was or show emotion I grew up resenting myself & who I was, including my sexuality I couldn't look myself in the eye. I got into unhealthy behaviors, and I had a deep sense of loneliness & not feeling fulfilled. I would do whatever I could to avoid that pain inside I was in a 5 year relationship, and when that ended I went even deeper into the pain & my addiction intensified I had an incident where I got in trouble with the police, and that was the beginning of my path of change, my awakening I moved to Australia with the hope of starting a better life I said a prayer, asked for help, and my recovery process started It was a journey of going back to my childhood & letting go of resentment, accepting who I am Now I'm proud of who I am, I own my story We've all done things to hurt others, we just may not be aware of them I want to help others understand and grow awareness of their inner world and how their thoughts & actions affect others Q: When you were at that crucial time, and you chose the process of self-discovery, what was it that really helped you go inwards & heal? A: Connecting to a higher power, something that was far greater than me Looking at my story, realizing that it had happened in my past and I couldn't do anything about it. It was done Realizing that all I could think about was what was happening in the present moment I wanted to be a better person, I didn't want to feel lonely and empty anymore What I was doing wasn't working. Nothing was changing, I was repeating the same mistakes I knew it was time that I had to do something different I started to take action to work with source I started to look at why I was afraid, and what my contribution was to the resentment or fear (accountability) I started understanding which point in the process I contributed to my own problem I stopped seeing myself as the victim In the beginning it was a lot of letting go of resentment, and now it's more of a soul journey Q: I can feel that the acceptance piece was such a huge part of your evolution. What do you feel acceptance is, and forgiveness is? A: Acceptance is the sense of belonging to yourself Accepting the parts of yourself that you want to hide away or reject Accept your current situation as it is, even the parts that you'd rather not admit Understanding that who you are & what you're experiencing right now is what you're meant to experience. Letting go of attachment to the outcome and to the emotion. Forgiveness brings inner peace & joy If you can't forgive somebody, that's the ego-mind seeing it as a sign of weakness Really, forgiveness is letting go of anger. It's acknowledging that something happened, but you're not going to let it hurt you anymore. Understanding that others are in pain, or they wouldn't have done the things that they did Look at things with compassion Make a decision not to let the anger & resentment control you anymore If you hang on to pain, you're literally re-traumatizing yourself over and over again It takes courage to let go If you want space for new energy to enter, you have to forgive When you forgive, it's surrendering your ego, practicing humility & aligning more with your true nature Forgiveness is probably one of the most important teachings to be able to create a new life for yourself Q: At what point do we completely accept, or at what point do we try to transcend or change our energy? A: When I was trying to change my emotions, I wasn't able to feel the more vulnerable feelings. What I've learned is that sometimes I need to just sit in the feeling & accept it Sometimes I ask my body/emotions questions: “What are you trying to tell me? What is your message?” I practice acknowledging what is within me without getting too attached to it You can practice soul healing Sometimes initially, the practice is really feeling into whatever is there It took me a while to get that. For a while, I used spirituality as another addiction to avoid my emotions Q: It reminds me of the saying “You've got to feel to heal”. I want to move into forgiveness now. How can people actually forgive? Events & people outside of themselves, as well as themselves? A: This is a long term practice I think one of the key things is forgiving from your heart If it's coming from the head, it can still have toxic energy I started by writing a letter to people who had hurt me, and told them how they actually made me feel. To get my feelings that I may have repressed out I didn't send the letters Forgiveness practice: I started to talk to the other person's soul. I would just start speaking, and allow whatever was in my heart to come out I started to wish for the people who had hurt me the same things I wish for myself. Even in the beginning if you don't believe it, keep going through the process When you forgive someone, you let them go & they no longer have ownership over you For me, it's taken years You know you've forgiven someone when there's no emotional reaction when someone mentions that person's name to you For me, I believe in the law of karma, so I also apologize to them Forgiveness is letting emotions out instead of letting it fester inside You can also say a prayer and ask the Universe for forgiveness Even if it's intense in the beginning, by the end there is a sense of freedom The Law of Attraction will only bring to you what resonates with your vibration If you hold on to resentment & anger, that's what you'll attract back It's become an important part of my daily practice to recognize when I make mistakes and do a forgiveness practice Q: How are you helping women through your Elevate Program? I love your description of “Purging the Past” Can you tell us a bit more about the program? A: 13 week program I'm a certified emotional coach I use applied kinesiology (muscle testing) & channeling We look at entities and past lives We'll start to look through your fields, emotion codes We'll release the heart wall - a protective wall that can restrict your flow of abundance I like to test to see where your self-esteem sits on the scale of consciousness If your vibration is low, we'll start to release blockages Workable content: Self compassion, acceptance, forgiveness letters Worksheets to look/reflect on yourself You have everything you need within you, this is a practice to cut away what's blocking you from your own power Compassion, acceptance, forgiveness We'll break down fears & start to make them rational I connect with source and give soul guidance Start being able to look at things from a different perspective Practicing gratitude Transforming old negative messages into positive messages Teaching people how to be aware of what's going on in their internal world Checking abundance levels & blocks It's a process from the past, to reset the mind, and check your magnetism to what's you're attracting Learn exactly where you're at, so you know exactly what you need to do LINKS: Free Breakthrough Calls - Learn more about working with Kyla - https://awakenher.as.me/ Instagram - www.instagram.com/awaken_her_with_love
