Titan Minerals Ltd (ASX:TTM) CEO Melanie Leighton joins Proactive's Meagan Evans to discuss the expanded gold footprint of Titan's Dynasty Gold Project in southern Ecuador through soil geochemistry and geological mapping. The company has identified a larger gold footprint, extending an additional 2 kilometres over the Gap Zone, where epithermal gold veining has been confirmed, suggesting a potentially large system from Iguana to Trapichillo prospects that remains undrilled. Explorative mapping at the Gisell copper target has revealed argillic and phyllic alteration and A-type veins, confirming it as a new porphyry copper discovery, with further trenching results expected soon. Leighton highlighted the discovery of multiple new gold and copper targets through dedicated exploration, aiming to grow the existing 3.1-million-ounce gold and 22-million-ounce silver resource. The company is focused on the 2-kilometre Gap Zone, linking Iguana and Trapichillo, which has seen limited exploration. Titan plans to undertake target assessment and ranking in preparation for drill testing multiple targets as part of its resource growth strategy at Dynasty. Additionally, an updated geological model for the Cerro Verde prospect has been handed over for resource estimation, with an update expected in July. #ProactiveInvestors #TitanMinerals #ASX #Gold #DynastyGoldProject #Ecuador #Copper #Silver Titan Minerals expands Dynasty footprint #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Model-Based Policy Analysis under Deep Uncertainty, published by Max Reddel on March 6, 2023 on The Effective Altruism Forum. This post is based on a talk that I gave at EAGxBerlin 2022. It is intended for policy researchers who want to extend their tool kit with computational tools. I show how we can support decision-making with simulation models of socio-technical systems while embracing uncertainties in a systematic manner. The technical field of decision-making under deep uncertainty offers a wide range of methods to account for various parametric and structural uncertainties while identifying robust policies in a situation where we want to optimize for multiple objectives simultaneously. Summary Real-world political decision-making problems are complex, with disputed knowledge, differing problem perceptions, opposing stakeholders, and interactions between framing the problem and problem-solving. Modeling can help policy-makers to navigate these complexities. Traditional modeling is ill-suited for this purpose. Systems modeling is a better fit (e.g., agent-based models). Deep uncertainty is everywhere. Deep uncertainty makes expected-utility reasoning virtually useless. Decision-Making under Deep Uncertainty is a framework that can build upon systems modeling and overcome deep uncertainties. Explorative modeling > predictive modeling. Value diversity (aka multiple objectives) > single objectives. Focus on finding vulnerable scenarios and robust policy solutions. Good fit with the mitigation of GCRs, X-risks, and S-risks. Complexity Complexity science is an interdisciplinary field that seeks to understand complex systems and the emergent behaviors that arise from the interactions of their components. Complexity is often an obstacle to decision-making. So, we need to address it. Ant Colonies Ant colonies are a great example of how complex systems can emerge from simple individual behaviors. Ants follow very simplistic rules, such as depositing food, following pheromone trails, and communicating with each other through chemical signals. However, the collective behavior of the colony is highly sophisticated, with complex networks of pheromone trails guiding the movement of the entire colony toward food sources and the construction of intricate structures such as nests and tunnels. The behavior of the colony is also highly adaptive, with the ability to respond to changes in the environment, such as changes in the availability of food or the presence of predators. Examples of Economy and Technology Similarly, the world is also a highly complex system, with a vast array of interrelated factors and processes that interact with each other in intricate ways. These factors include the economy, technology, politics, culture, and the environment, among others. Each of these factors is highly complex in its own right, with multiple variables and feedback loops that contribute to the overall complexity of the system. For example, the economy is a highly complex system that involves the interactions between individuals, businesses, governments, and other entities. The behavior of each individual actor is highly variable and can be influenced by a range of factors, such as personal motivations, cultural norms, and environmental factors. These individual behaviors can then interact with each other in complex ways, leading to emergent phenomena such as market trends, economic growth, and financial crises. Similarly, technology is a highly complex system that involves interactions between multiple components, such as hardware, software, data, and networks. Each of these components is highly complex in its own right, with multiple feedback loops and interactions that contribute to the overall complexity of the system. The behavior of the system as a whole can then be highly unpredict...
Hello and Welcome to this special edition of the Flaghunters Golf Podcast ! In this edition, we have Justin Tang from Singapore and Jim Waldron from Balance Point Golf ! In today's episode, Jim, Justin and I explore the very nature of learning proper swing techniques and the mentality behind building a good Golf Game. Having a proper swing motion is a very important piece to having a good game BUT it just isn't all that. You have to have a good short game as well as being a proficiant putter. What if you have ALL of these important tenants but do not have the mind to manage and control YOUR response to what happens on the Golf course ? WE also explore this very nature and come up with almost a therapeutic response to what we would call, "The Shadow Self" that will raise its ugly head during the course of a round . I really enjoyed this deep dive and a big thank you to Justin and Jim for taking the time to enlighten us with their hard earned wisdom !
Lecture [23.01.2022] Can we solve the contradiction between the perfectly »organized soundscapes« produced by undisturbed ecosystems and our own drive for creation? The immersive concert »Fragments of Extinction« – a multidisciplinary project about the biodiversity of primary forests – shows us how to! David Monacchi, ecoacoustics researcher, composer and interdisciplinary artist, will give an overview of his long-term project »Fragments of Extinction«, which was conceived in 1998 as an environmental sound-art and science dissemination project, which is recording 24-hour 3D sound portraits of the oldest and most biologically diverse primary equatorial forests in Amazonia, Africa and Southeast Asia. The recordings are stored as sonic heritage of ecosystems, analysed within an ecoacoustics framework, composed into specific 3D sound-documentaries and played back in museums and public spaces through specifically designed Eco-acoustic Theatres. The ultimate aim is to foster audiences' awareness on the richness and fragility of life, at times mass extinction. Within the talk, the new specific analytic work »A comparative analysis of paleo-tropical and neo-tropical circadian hi-def recordings through advanced EEDI methodologies: a case study« in collaboration with Almo Farina, will be presented, as well as the current developments in the construction of Sonosfera®, the last ecoacoustic theater dedicated to deep ecosystem listening. The subsequent concert of Monacchi's »eco-acoustic compositions« will offer a journey through the most recent and oldest recordings made in the framework of the project, which represent a compositional complement of sound environments.

“I call it an explorative mindset for racing… ‘Let's see what I can do,' rather than, ‘This is what I need to do.'” - Katie ZaferesToday's guest is Katie Zaferes, a two-time Olympic Games qualifier and 2019 ITU World Triathlon Series Champion. For Katie, the road to Tokyo has been anything but smooth. We not only explore her mindset as a world class triathlete, we also talk about what's been going on in her life since the onset of the pandemic, including the unexpected passing of her father earlier this year. According to Katie, it was the combination of the “try it and see what happens” attitude instilled in her from both of her parents, as well as her father's sneaky plan to get her into triathlons, that contributed to her becoming one of the world's best. As we talked about her current preparations for Tokyo, we got insight into how she's taken and applied the lessons she's learned since her disappointing finish at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Life is a seemingly untamable beast, it can seem like a wild ride a lot of the time. Who's creating the twists, turns, ups and downs of this thing? Unless we take a moment to ask ourselves “who's guiding the ship?” We may continually feel tossed at life's whim. Gateways are moments that bring us into awareness of the present moment. Being present in the “now” moment allows us to make choices about how we want to ride the waves of life. Recognizing and living from a place of awareness, we can decide to create a life we love and want to live. This meditation introduces and explores the moments or gateways that bring us into present moment awareness. Enjoy the exploration of you. Sundance Roundup: Downhill and The Assistant Joi and Ro sit down to discuss two films showcased during the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. Each film's central theme, gaslighting, plays out subtly and in real time. Both film open the door to a discussion that ultimately ends up about relationships and the care you take of you while in them. Joi On: The Assistant Written and directed by Kitty Green, The Assistant follows Jane (Julia Garner), a young assistant at a film production company with aspirations to rise in the industry. While doing her daily tasks, she gradually notices the inappropriate behavior of her boss. Motivated to speak up, her concerns reveal the complicit nature of the company she works for. Green leverages her expertise in documentaries to edit and direct the story in a succinct manner. Explorative, we begin with Jane's daily routine as an assistant. Most of her duties are what you expect from an assistant. But scenes like Jane deep cleaning her boss' office and throwing out syringes set the tone that something is off in this work culture. The story is crafted based on implication versus "cold hard facts." This is not to diminish the severity of the actions, but rather confront the sobering truth that many sexual assault and harassment cases lack evidence for "believability." The first twenty minutes of the film moves at a snail's pace. But it's deliberate in it's messaging: in the crawl of the day-to-day, we sometimes miss the red flags. Jane eventually can no longer ignore the signs and approaches Human Resources rep Wilcock (Matthew Macfadyen) in the climactic scene of the film. What proceeds is an uncomfortable moment of gaslighting, where Jane is made to feel unsure of the behavior she's seen. Shocked, she returns to her desk and is forced to email her boss an apology for reporting him. The realization of this shady workplace weighs heavily on Jane. But in the end, we assume that Jane will clock into work tomorrow, to fight another day. Open about the inspiration from Weinstein and the #MeToo era, Green has stated her goal was to "make a project that tackles not just this misconduct, but these broader themes of a system that’s inherently structured against women[.]" She succeeds in taking these meaty themes and streamlining them, without undercutting the impact. Simple, yet effective in its delivery, The Assistant is a cautionary tale of how easy it is to ignore abusive structures. And once you're sucked in, how hard it is to speak up. Downhill An American remake of the 2014 Swedish dramedy Force Majeure, Downhill - directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash - follows the Staunton family, led by the father Pete (Will Ferrell) and the mother Billie (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). While on a ski vacation with their children in the Alps, the couple experience what they assumed to be an avalanche. Pete's reaction to flee versus protecting his family causes problems for his relationships with his wife and sons. The cinematography juxtaposes the dark family dynamics with bright sweeping shots. Danny Cohen has an easy muse in the beautiful, white Alps background. But being the cinematographer for films such as The Kings Speech, The Danish Girl, Room, and much more certainly helps. Cohen's eye is utilized best on the slopes, with stock photo shots of skiers enjoying the sport. He brings a lightness that marries well to this black comedy. It puts a spotlight on how even in the most beautiful places, families can crumble. Even with such a stunning backdrop, the story hones in on how Pete and Billie aren't on one accord after the avalanche incident. Unfortunately, the written lack of chemistry of the characters is overshadowed by the actual lack of chemistry between the actors. Will Ferrell is completely miscast as Pete, not finding the right balance between comedy and drama in his performance. Julia Louis-Dreyfus carries the emotional load of the film, course-correcting their interactions to the best of her abilities.

A series of psychophysical and electrophysiological (EEG) experiments are presented which aimed at assessing the effect of normal brain aging on the perception of illusory contours (ICs). ICs were here considered as exemplary tasks for the process of visual binding, as required for the handling of complex visual situations such as car driving for example. Furthermore, ICs are often used in the context of clinical neuropsychological assessments. Since as yet IC perception has not been systematically studied in the elderly population, our data can provide a baseline measure. A total of 153 healthy paid volunteers, aged between 18 and 90 years, took part in two psychophysical and two electrophysiological experiments. In our first explorative behavioural paradigm we found that the time to identify ICs of the Kanizsa type (compared to control stimuli) increased steadily with advancing age, suggesting a gradual decline in visual binding capacities, which starts already from the age of 30 years on. The observed effect could not be explained by older people’s well documented deficits in processing stimuli at higher eccentricities (see for example Poggel & Strasburger 2004; Sekuler et al. 2000; Kosslyn et al. 1999), since it proved robust, also when we reduced stimulus size from 10° to 5° of visual angle in our second psychophysical experiment. In our first EEG experiment – a non-response paradigm – we did not replicate previous findings concerning an IC effect, i.e., a differential electrophysiological reaction between IC and control stimuli, which is considered to reflect the perception of the “Gestalt” (see for example Murray et al. 2004, 2002; Kruggel et al, 2001; Herrmann & Bosch 2001). The replication failed for both our young and older observers. A reduction of the stimulus size from 6° to 4° of visual angle in our second EEG experiment brought only a slight increase of differential activity in the young observers. Only when we induced a conscious processing of the presented shapes by introducing new target stimuli in the second part of this experiment, did we find a distinct IC effect in both subject groups, suggesting that the IC stimuli were perceived. This finding speaks for the importance of top-down influences in IC perception, an issue that still provokes considerable debate (Senkowski et al. 2005; Montaser-Kouhsari & Rajimehr 2004; Vuilleumier & Landis 1998; Gurnsey et al. 1996; Davis & Driver 1994; Pritchard & Warm 1983). Our findings suggest that the perception of ICs is weakened or delayed with advancing age, but that this deficit can be compensated for by cognitive strategies.
