In this probing episode of the #SiblingsToo podcast, host Nancy Morris explores the challenges of representing sibling sexual abuse (SSA) in television programs, joined by experts and survivors Brinn Langdale, Diane Tarantini, and Tanith McCulloch. Against the backdrop of media representations like HBO's White Lotus and the UK's Hollyoaks, they navigate the multifaceted conversations surrounding SSA and highlight the urgency for responsible and informed storytelling. The episode critiques the portrayal of sibling sexual behavior in popular media, emphasizing the importance of accuracy, sensitivity, and comprehensive research in storytelling. Drawing on experiences with Hollyoaks and its reflective storytelling approach, the guests discuss how programs can shed light on the realities of SSA without resorting to sensationalism. Central themes include the societal need to recognize the prevalence of sibling sexual abuse and the vital role of resources and compassionate narratives in media. Engaging in this sensitive dialogue, they call for narratives that not only entertain but educate and provide pathways to healing and understanding for audiences worldwide. Consent and Responsibility: Media portrayals often fail to adequately address the complexities of consent, particularly in instances involving drugs or alcohol, portraying behaviors as consensual rather than abusive. Healing and Resources: Highlighting the fight for accurate storytelling, the discussion addresses the importance of providing resources and support for survivors within media representations. Future of SSA in Media: Diane, Tanith, and Brinn delved into their visions for future media portrayals which should influence public perceptions and lead to greater societal change. Notable Quotes: "In the survivor groups that I'm a part of... to have a loss of connection to your family is a huge part of sibling sexual abuse that I don't think is being talked about." - Brinn Langdale "We have to come away from that narrative that it is a fantasy...and branch it out so people are being seen and represented." - Tanith McCulloch "In a perfect world, I would love to see the survivor disclose and have a positive experience with that, like they're believed, they're supported." - Diane Tarantini "Bring all the storylines and then let's get together on these kinds of calls with lived experience people ... to really start to pull this apart." – Nancy Morris Resources: SARSAS RAINN White Lotus Hollyoaks Chapters 0:00 Sibling Sexual Abuse Representation in Media and Its Impact 4:49 Controversial White Lotus Scene Sparks Social Media Debate 8:07 Addressing Sibling Sexual Abuse and Its Complex Impacts 12:49 Understanding Consent and Its Complexities in Media Narratives 15:15 Sibling Sexual Abuse Representation in Media and Its Challenges 23:58 Anticipation and Uncertainty in White Lotus' Final Episode 27:33 Understanding Sibling Sexual Trauma and Individual Reactions 31:23 Complex Storylines in Media and Their Impact on Audiences 33:19 The Debate Over Trigger Warnings and Their Impact 41:21 Diverse Media Representation of Complex SSA and SSB Experiences 44:58 Sibling Sexual Abuse and Family Dynamics in Media 49:21 Media's Role in Addressing Sibling Sexual Abuse Narratives

Hello and Welcome to this special edition of the Flaghunters Golf Podcast ! In this edition, we have Justin Tang from Singapore and Jim Waldron from Balance Point Golf ! In today's episode, Jim, Justin and I explore the very nature of learning proper swing techniques and the mentality behind building a good Golf Game. Having a proper swing motion is a very important piece to having a good game BUT it just isn't all that. You have to have a good short game as well as being a proficiant putter. What if you have ALL of these important tenants but do not have the mind to manage and control YOUR response to what happens on the Golf course ? WE also explore this very nature and come up with almost a therapeutic response to what we would call, "The Shadow Self" that will raise its ugly head during the course of a round . I really enjoyed this deep dive and a big thank you to Justin and Jim for taking the time to enlighten us with their hard earned wisdom !
In today's chat I am joined again by the lovely Jasmine from the Wholesome Heart. Jasmine is a women's health and nutrition coach, specialising in gut health and banishing the bloat! Today we dive into Jasmine's pregnancy, birth, and postpartum and some things that popped up for her postpartum that she wasn't expecting. She had to go back into the hospital to have surgery on a retrained placenta, she was on a lot of antibiotics which then can go through the breastmilk - she chats to us about what we can do to optimise the baby's gut if that happens to us. I learned so much in today's chat - I hope you get a lot out of it too. It was such a great reminder of some things we can implement today to improve our health no matter what postpartum stage you might be in. Welcome back beautiful mama to another episode of the Nurture Hub Podcast. In this episode, we invite Melissa Hayes from Cocoon & Cradle to share with us some insight into a holistic approach to breastfeeding. Melissa is a Gold Coast-based Midwife, Lactation Consultant and Sleep Specialist who provides services for mums & mums-to-be who want holistic and evidence-based breastfeeding, sleep and early parenting support. As you may have guessed, Cocoon & Cradle is not your average early parenting support service. Most consultants have training in only one area; lactation or sleep. Whereas Melissa is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and holistic sleep coach, in addition to 10+ years of experience as a paediatric nurse and midwife. This is how she is able to offer truly holistic care. By pulling together all the pieces of the puzzle from feeding, sleep and development, Melissa is able to identify the root cause of the issue and work together with you to come up with a creative solution. On top of her professional experience, She is also a mum to two very energetic but beautiful toddlers. So believe her when she says, She gets what it's like for new mamas. Melissa launched Cocoon & Cradle in 2020 because she felt there was not enough support and too much confusing and conflicting information regarding early parenthood. To be honest, She was sick of seeing incorrect and sometimes harmful advice being given out to unknowing mums and mums-to-be. Why? Because you deserve better. Since launching she has been able to support hundreds of mums all while focusing on responsive feeding and parenting, and biologically normal sleep. Hey Folks! For both patients and practitioners, autoimmune disease is the real deal. From Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, hashimotos, and the rest, it seems we keep seeing and hearing more and more. From a functional point of view, we always look at the foundational elements; diet, gut heath, adrenals, hormonal balance, stress management, nutritional relevancy, nutraceutical supplementation and more. And...with every disease we must recognize that there is often if not always, an emotional element involved. I look to some of my teachers such as Dr John Sarno, Caroline Myss in this podcast, some of the great psychotherapists of the past such as Alexander, while recognizing the power of lack of loving self, and the works of modern-day motivational coaches such as Mel Robbins (High Five Habit) I also touch upon. Tune on in as I share with you how Dr Kay Corpus MD and I approach this BEYOND FUNCTIONAL APPROACH, from the foundation, what the labs say, and what could be really going on with the patient, which often just takes a little bit of listening. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

In this introductory episode, Brinn explains who she is and what inspired the start of this podcast. She shares her own story of overcoming mental health struggles and trauma in childhood, while explaining how holistic healing helped her recover. In her hometown of Sacramento, CA, there is a vast community of healers who, over the past decade, have become her friends, mentors and community. Brinn always thought how fantastic it would be if we could bring everyone together to share resources and knowledge about their different healing methods, so she started this podcast as a way to do just that. Let‘s Clear the Air! All Things Allergy, Asthma & Immunology!
Dr. Jane Choi is known for being one of our most thorough allergists. Hear how Dr. Choi became a believer in the field and treatment of allergies, why immunotherapy is so important to her own family, and how a few simple steps can help keep your worst seasonal allergy symptoms under control.
Within my life, I have always found myself coloring outside of the lines & resonating with others that do the same. Whether it be with regards to food, exercise, schooling or especially healthcare, I have found myself gravitating towards those who look at the root causes of issues & those who I feel have their values prioritized towards truly helping those they work with & serve with the most empowering information available. The area I see this challenge more than any other is within the medical industry in our present day reality. It's no secret that the medical industry these days leaves much to be desired. Western medicine has been an incredible leap in technology & medicine development, however, it is often times over prescribed & leaves doctors very little wiggle worm to try alternative methods. For this reason, among others, doctors who truly do have their patients best interests at heart are, in many cases, stepping away from corporate healthcare in pursuit of entrepreneurial ventures in which they can make a lasting difference not only in their treatment options, but in their abilities to empower their patients with the information necessary to take back the reigns on their health & live the version of their lives that is the most colorful, vibrant & holistically healthy. Today's guest on the show is an absolutely beautiful soul I met through the CHEK circle who knows first hand the challenges spoken about above. He is an OBGYN & a CHEK trained professional who was let go in a beautiful turn of events from his ex employer after a disagreement in how to most effectively provide long lasting care that would ultimately lead to curing his patients health challenges, rather than simply treating them, is now running his own practice that is supercharging the women he works with in taking back their power regarding their personal health & wellness & is the host of the Holistic OBGYN podcast, where he showcases those who are speaking out about alternative treatment options, what the listeners can do to begin taking back their health from home & how to gain inspiration from our health challenges, begin believing in our abilities as individual healers & ultimately create the physical, emotional, mental & spiritual health unity we all deserve by birthright. This episode was produced at the Mass Music Radio Station in Quincy, Massachusetts.
This is the first episode of the Wholistic Approach to Pet Care: Part II. Dr. Sue Howell joins us to talk about whole foods in a veterinary practice based on her professional experience integrating whole food therapies with conventional medicine. This is the trailer for Part II of the third season of the WholisticMatters Podcast Series, “The Wholistic Approach to Pet Care.” Jody Griffiths, CVT, leads conversations with experts in wholistic veterinary care, discussing the role of whole foods in veterinary practice, omega-3 fatty acids for pets, the brain-gut microbiome connection in animals, and healthy years for geriatric dogs.
Dr. Pejman Katiraei has spent years using his curious mind and expertise across allopathic and holistic medicine to explore chronic conditions such as lupus, colitis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, memory problems, ADHD, anxiety, and IBS in profound depth. An initial consultation with him lasts 1.5 hours, and it doesn't take long to understand why! In this episode, he explains why diseases do not "just happen," and we need to get to the root of all anomalies to truly serve children and their families. We discuss the consequences of mold toxicity, Lyme, and ADHD, the limitations of testing, and the value of a parents' gut instinct that "something is not right" with their child. Plus: the exciting technological advancements that will bring his groundbreaking work to more people around the world. You will learn about... We've talked about quite a few topics in different episodes of this podcast. In this episode, we put things together to show how important it is to take a wholistic approach to your supervisor role. It's far to easy to think of professional development as learning new supervisor skills, but if you don't put that information into the context of who you are, you'll most likely have trouble implementing what you've learned.
Dr. Pejman Katiraei is a Board Certified Pediatrician, who is also boarded and fellowship trained in integrative and holistic medicine. He completed his undergraduate at UCLA and then obtained his Osteopathic medical degree at Western University of Health Sciences. He then went on to complete a Pediatric residency at Loma Linda University, where he stayed on as teaching faculty for over 4 years. Dr. Katiraei has also completed two fellowships in integrative medicine, one with the University of Arizona and another under Dr. Kamyar Hedayat in a French model of integrative medicine called Endobiogeny. Dr. Katiraei’s research and experiences helped him realize that “the children of today do not have to become the sick adults of tomorrow.” He is now in private practice in Santa Monica, where he focuses on helping children with complex medical conditions and severe behavioral challenges. In today’s episode, Shay Beider warmly welcomes Dr. Katiraei to talk about his holistic, integrative practice and to share his philosophy of not sticking a person into a single box. He discusses his experience treating exposure to mold and lyme disease and how each can cause issues within the body that often get overlooked. Dr. Katiraei also shares his knowledge about the underlying causes of anxiety and how his curiosity has helped him to see that there are contributing biological factors.
