Send us some LOVE!What happens when grief intersects with identity? In this powerful episode, memoir writer Kelly Wilk takes us deep into her experience as a queer widow, revealing layers of complexity that many grievers never have to face. After losing her wife Kara when she was just 34, Kelly found herself navigating not only overwhelming grief but also shifting social dynamics and questions about who she was without her partner. She shares candidly about how being part of the queer community adds unique dimensions to grief. Through her writing, Kelly created "Captain Grief" – a character who embodied her anger and gave her someone to blame when there was no one to blame. This creative approach to processing loss eventually led to a profound transformation she compares to a butterfly in a cocoon: "She dissolves, she unforms, she breaks down in the most complete sense of the word... And when she steps out into the world once again, she is new."Whether you're part of the LGBTQ+ community or simply seeking to better support grieving loved ones, Kelly's insights offer a compassionate window into the complex interaction between identity and loss. Her story reminds us that while grief itself may be universal, our paths through it are shaped by who we are and the communities to which we belong.Contact:www.asiliveandgrieve.cominfo@asiliveandgrieve.comFacebook:  As I Live and GrieveInstagram:  @asiliveandgrieveYouTube:  asiliveandgrieveTikTok: @asiliveandgrieveTo contact Kelly:Website:  The High-Flying Adventures of Captain Grief - Grief is messy...own it!Facebook:  The High-Flying Adventures of Captain Grief | FacebookTikTokSupport the showCopyright 2020, by As I Live and GrieveThe views expressed by guests are their own and their appearance on the program does not imply an endorsement of them or any entity they represent.

Are you hard on yourself? The harsh inner critic is very common for women caregivers, especially empaths and highly sensitives in the spiritual and recovery communities. What started as resonance in response to a post on Instagram has led to a beautiful connection + kindred spirit with my guest in this episode, Kelly Greene. She came into my life at a time when I lost faith in the spiritual community, and entrusting so many healers and spaces that simply didn't have the trauma informed approach or empathy to hold all that I was carrying. Kelly speaks to her path to her work with Prana Reiki after her divorce + loss of her brother to cancer in 2012 to a dream that guided her to a deep love of Reiki healing for recovery. In our conversation, we touch on how to heal and integrate in layers, allowing for ample rest and space to process your emotions without getting stuck into states of depression or stagnation. Kelly speaks to the suffering of society's obsession with highs and lows, and how the messy middle is truly a place to become your own healer, and learn how to cultivate wild self compassion and humanity through healing. Make sure you stay tuned through this 2-part series where Kelly invites us to join her in a distance Reiki session to experience her magic LIVE! Connect with Kelly:Website: www.pranareiki.comIG @ pranareikiphx - https://www.instagram.com/pranareikiphx/Send us a Text Message.Support the Show.Connect with me: Peek at the Live Vibrant Sisterhood + join the waiting list for the next round! - DM me for deets! This is a topic I've been wanting to cover for a long time, and who better to do this with other than Kelly Kennedy, the 'Lymph Queen'?In the western world, we often don't hear of the lymph being addressed, but this system, which is larger than the blood circulation system, is key to our good health. Not only does the lymphatic system deliver nutrients, but it is literally our sewer system, and if it isn't flowing, our sewer backs up, stagnation occurs, and we no longer can access our divine, innate healer within. After a receiving a biology degree from Cornell and realizing that the topic of health is vast, Kelly began to pursue her own education in classical alternative therapies culminating with a two year intensive in European Bio-Regulatory Medicine. In this new episode of The Wholistic Vitality™ Podcast, Kelly Roach joins me to talk about the impact of holistic personal growth, mentorship, and the integration of faith and energetics in entrepreneurship. We will touch on the journey of embracing change, the importance of self-care, and strategic pauses like sabbaticals for sustained health and success. Kelly Roach's story serves as a testament to the power of transformation, from her background as an NFL cheerleader and Fortune 500 executive to becoming a successful entrepreneur who influences others by combining business acumen with a holistic, faith-based approach. Listen to the whole episode and be reminded to reflect on your paths, prioritize your well-being, and embrace a mindset that values growth, capacity management, and the inner game of entrepreneurship as much as the external strategies and achievements.   “Building sabbaticals into the way that you do business absolutely will give you that ability to have an intentional recharge strategically and proactively instead of waiting till you get to the point where you're just like, you can't function. And by the way, I know everybody's like, Well, we do our family vacation, you know, whatever. Most people that have little kids, you need a vacation from the vacation, right? So this is completely different. This isn't you like running all over the place constantly in a state of doing, doing, doing, it's actually giving yourself time to “Be”. And that's what our culture has ripped away from us, we don't give ourselves time to “Be”. And that's what I think a sabbatical can do to really change your life.”- Kelly Roach   In this episode, let's dig deeper into: Roach's transition from an NFL cheerleader and Fortune 500 executive to a successful entrepreneur exemplifies the potential for reinvention and the pursuit of new paths that align with one's values and goals. Kelly's approach to business focuses on leadership and entrepreneurship that deviates from traditional methods, emphasizing alignment with personal growth and the integration of energetics with business strategies. Holistic approach to running a business, which includes acknowledging the role of mental and physical health, energetics, and the importance of taking intentional breaks for rejuvenation. Kelly advocates for taking sabbaticals to prevent burnout and maintain productivity, illustrating how strategic breaks can enhance creativity, alignment, and overall well-being. Introducing faith into the business as a foundational element, Kelly shares how her faith has guided her decisions and provided a deeper sense of purpose and direction, encouraging others to explore this integration. The conversation touches on understanding and managing one's capacity, focusing on essential tasks, and allowing oneself to grow without succumbing to external pressures for constant achievement.  Both speakers discuss the pitfalls of seeking external validation and the importance of internal satisfaction and contentment in personal and professional endeavors.   About the guest: Kelly Roach is one of the only female founders in the online space to build her company from 0 to 8 figures with 0 debt, investors, or outside funding. Here is what to expect on this week's show: Remembering that paths change, and it is good to be open to flexible thinking. What is the deal with “test optional” college applications? How a Covid change became permanent for SOME schools. While some schools say they are test optional, they still look at the scores and apply them to the application review. Test blind schools- some California schools don't allow test score submissions. Using test scores to get scholarships- many schools will base merit-based aid and scholarships on test scores and GPA. Establishing good study skills for kids taking college entrance exams. ACT or SAT- which should your child take? Pick a test date and register to build your study schedule and set goals. Mitigating stress- is it test anxiety, or the importance of the test itself? What do you do if your child is not strong in math, or other particular areas of the test? What is the first step in preparing to take entrance exams? What resources can you utilize to help your child study? How can you learn to love testing?   Connect with Dr. Kelly: Website https://www.inhousetestprep.com/ X (fka Twitter) https://twitter.com/kellyfrindell1 Facebook https://www.facebook.com/kellyfrindell Instagram https://www.instagram.com/kellyfrindell/ Follow Rebecca Greene Blog  https://www.whinypaluza.com/ Book 1  https://bit.ly/WhinypaluzaBook Book 2 https://bit.ly/whinybook2 Facebook  https://www.facebook.com/whinypaluzaparenting Instagram https://www.instagram.com/becgreene5/ @becgreene5 TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@whinypaluzamom?lang=en @whinypaluzamom YouTube https://www.youtube.com/WhinyPaluza Learn more about your ad choices.
