Leviticus 2 outlines the laws concerning the grain offering, also known as the meal offering or cereal offering, which was a key aspect of Israelite worship. Unlike burnt offerings that involved animal sacrifices, the grain offering consisted of fine flour, oil, and frankincense, symbolizing thanksgiving and dedication to God. Key Elements of Leviticus 2: 1.Types of Grain Offerings (Verses 1-10): The chapter describes various ways the grain offering could be presented: •Uncooked flour offerings (v.1-3): Fine flour mixed with oil and frankincense, offered with a portion burned on the altar while the rest was given to the priests. •Baked offerings (v.4-7): •Cakes or wafers baked in an oven, without yeast, and mixed with oil. •Offerings cooked on a griddle or in a pan. •Handful Offered to God (v.8-10): A portion of the offering, called the “memorial portion,” was burned on the altar, while the remainder belonged to the priests. 2.Prohibitions in the Offering (Verses 11-13): •No leaven (yeast) or honey could be included in the grain offering, as these substances were associated with fermentation and corruption. •Salt was required in every offering as a symbol of God's covenant, representing purity, preservation, and faithfulness. 3.Firstfruits Offering (Verses 14-16): •The first produce of the harvest, particularly green heads of grain roasted in fire, could also be offered. •A portion was burned as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. Significance of the Grain Offering: 1.Symbol of Dedication and Gratitude: •The grain offering was an act of thanksgiving and acknowledgment of God's provision in daily life. It symbolized the dedication of one's labor and sustenance to God. 2.Dependence on God: •Bringing the best of the harvest reflected the Israelites' trust in God for future provision and sustenance. 3.Holiness and Purity: •The prohibition of leaven and honey underscored the need for purity and sincerity in worship, while the inclusion of salt symbolized the enduring nature of God's covenant. 4.Support for the Priests: •Part of the offering was given to the priests, showing the provision for those who served in the tabernacle and reinforcing the communal responsibility toward spiritual leaders. Application in Biblical Context: The grain offering highlights that worship is not limited to sacrifices of atonement but includes acts of gratitude and dedication of one's daily life to God. It teaches the importance of offering our best to God and recognizing His role as the provider of all resources. Overall, Leviticus 2 emphasizes God's desire for sincere worship, gratitude, and covenant faithfulness through the presentation of offerings that reflect the work and provision of daily life.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sendme-radio--732966/support.
Things happen, and sometime your favorite smartphone might find itself in water. What should you do if you dropped your phone in a sink, a bowl, or forgot to take it out of your pocket and jumped into water? Water is your phone's worst enemy, capable of wiping out all your pictures and stored data. Fortunately, there are simple things and easy tips that'll cost you no money you can do to try to save your phone. #phonewater #dropphone TIMESTAMPS Take it out of the liquid immediately. 0:48 Turn it off. 1:42 Remove the battery. 2:10 Remove the SIM card, memory card, and all peripherals. 3:01 Dry the phone with a cloth or microfiber towel. 4:02 Don't use an oven, microwave, or hair dryer. 4:26 Gently shake your phone dry. 5:06 Put the phone in a vacuum bag. 5:32 Put it in a bowl of rice or another absorbent material. 5:59 Clean the phone with rubbing alcohol. 7:07 Store your phone in a safe, dry place. 7:48 Wait. 8:14 While you're waiting, check your warranty. 9:00 Turn it on, and cross your fingers. 9:30 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/... SUMMARY -The more exposure your phone has to the water, the more water will get inside the case and damage the internal components. -If the power stays on, the phone runs the risk of short-circuiting, which will cause more damage to the mechanisms inside. -If you can take the battery out, do it immediately. Removing the energy supply will help prevent the phone from being fried. -Remove all the covers and plugs that cover the charging port, headphone port, or any gap or slot in the phone. These can trap moisture inside the phone or be damaged themselves. -Avoid using paper as particles can come loose and clog up the ports of the phone. -The heat produced by a hair dryer can cause significant damage to the internal components of your phone, and vaporizing the moisture inside the phone can just spread it further. -Shaking your phone can get rid of a lot of those pesky droplets of moisture stuck inside the phone. -Put the phone in a plastic bag, and suck out the air with a vacuum cleaner or shop vac. -Uncooked rice is naturally absorbent, and water can flow right out of a phone and into the rice. Put the phone and all its parts in a bowl or jar of rice, and leave it there for at least 48 hours. -Try submerging your phone in circuit-safe cleaner or pure grain alcohol, which will absorb the moisture, clean any impurities, and ultimately evaporate without leaving a conductive residue. -Don't keep the phone in a jar of rice next to the sink or washing machine, for instance, where accidents can happen. -It is very, very important to give your phone at least 2 days to dry. -It's possible that you have your warranty through a third party vendor, such as Asurion or SquareTrade. They might cover accidental spills or submersion. -Once you're sure your phone is dry, you can plug it back in and try to turn it on. If it powers up, you're in business. But we can eat these foods and many of them offer tons of healthy nutrients. Today's guest is Carleigh Bodrug. Carleigh's published a best-selling cookbook with over 140 recipes made from food scraps you might otherwise throw away. Her mission is simple: eat more plants. Her online community, PlantYou, has more than 10 million followers. She's joined by Dr. Will Bulsiewicz. Will is a board-certified gastroenterologist and ZOE's U.S. Medical Director. He reveals the hidden nutritional value of these food scraps, and how ‘scrappy cooking' can get you eating that all-important 30 plants per week. You'll walk away from today's episode saving your money and the planet, all while eating more plants.
In this episode, Alan Day and Dan O'Connor of Four Year Strong sit in to discuss the writing and recording of the single "uncooked" from their 2024 album Analysis Paralysis. Inspired by a bout of writer's block, the song explores their curiosity about whether certain substances might help them overcome it, despite both being straight edge since they were kids. They share how this challenge shaped the raw energy of "uncooked" and explain how producer Will Putney played a key role in bringing the song to life. The conversation also touches on their vocal harmonies, personal growth, and the creative pressures of their long-standing music career. This week in Sea of Thieves, I sat down with the Gold Hoarders to chat about the season so far. It's a rough time out on the seas, and honestly, with many of the features turned off and the game still having issues, it's hard to find the desire to go sailing. This week, I wanted to take some time to propose some ideas about the tools we do have in the game and what I think can be changed to make them more impactful. Hi Bakers, This is one of the most decadent desserts to eat. A classic Chocolate Mousse is rich and satisfying but also light and airy. It's more elegant than a pudding but not much harder to make. I cooked the egg yolks and whites in this version to avoid eating raw eggs and that takes a bit longer to prepare with a few more steps. The heated egg whites look funky, like a curdled mess that smell scrambled…but they beat into lovely whites that don't taste like scrambled eggs at all. If you are not worried about uncooked eggs, you can whip the whites raw instead. This recipe can be made as a mousse pie or as mousse with no crust. Both ways to eat it are fabulous and no one will miss the crust if you decide to skip it. Enjoy this special treat ~Carolyn Chocolate Mousse Pie/Chocolate Mousse Makes one 9” pie or 5” ramekins Crust one 12 ounce package of gluten-free Oreos 1/4 cup melted butter Filling 1 1/2 cups semisweet or dark chocolate chips 1 large egg 2 large egg yolks 1 cup heavy cream 1 tablespoon granulated sugar 1/2 teaspoon espresso powder 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 egg whites 3 tablespoons granulated sugar Crust Remove the center of the Oreos and break apart into the bowl of a food processor. Pulse until cookies are broken into small crumbs. Add the melted butter and mix until combined. This should resemble damp sand and stick together slightly. If you need to add another teaspoon of butter achieve this consistency. Press the crumbs lightly into place into the bottom of a pie pan using plastic wrap over your fingertips. Tamp down harder with a spoon or small measuring cup. Chill in the freezer until ready to use. Mousse Measure the chocolate into a large bowl. Set aside. Separate the egg whites and yolks using metal or ceramic bowls. In a medium-sized saucepan, whisk together the egg, yolks, 1/2 cup cream, sugar, espresso and vanilla. Heat while stirring continuously until the liquid becomes thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon. Remove from the heat and pour over the chocolate. Cover and let sit for a few minutes until the chocolate is melted. Whisk until smooth. Set aside and cool to ~113F. Combine the egg whites* and sugar over a double boiler or a small metal pan set atop a pan partially filled with boiling water. Whisk and heat until the temperature reaches 170F. Remove from the heat and beat until stiff but not dry peaks form. Set the bowl aside. Whip the remaining 1/2 cup whipped cream. Gently stir in a 1/4 of beaten egg whites into the chocolate mixture to lighten it. Fold in the remaining whites. Next, fold in the whipped cream. Portion into a pie pan or ramekins. Chill for at least 6 hours or overnight. Garnish with whipped cream and fresh fruit or chocolate shavings. A sprig of mint is also a pretty addition. *Uncooked eggs can be a health hazard. If you decide not to cook the egg whites(which is how many traditional recipes are written for chocolate mousse), whip them with sugar and vanilla in a metal or glass n a bowl without heating them. Add to the mousse then you achieve stiff but not dry peaks. Follow the instructions and add to the chocolate as directed. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/carolyn-hillyer/message

This week we will discuss how to avoid toxins when cooking for a crowd. The following comes straight from the CDC: Prevent Food Poisoning During the Holidays Feasting with family is part of many holiday celebrations. Follow these tips to help prevent food poisoning, or foodborne illness, during the holidays. Keep foods separated. Keep meat, chicken, turkey, seafood, and eggs separate from all other foods at the grocery store and in the refrigerator. Prevent juices from meat, chicken, turkey, and seafood from dripping or leaking onto other foods by keeping them in containers or sealed plastic bags. Store eggs in their original carton in the main compartment of the refrigerator. Cook food thoroughly. Use a food thermometer to make sure meat, chicken, turkey, seafood, and eggs have been cooked to a safe internal temperature to kill germs. Roasts, chops, steaks, and fresh ham should rest for 3 minutes after you remove them from the oven or grill. Keep food out of the “danger zone.” Germs can grow rapidly in the danger zone between 40°F and 140°F. After food is prepared, keep hot food hot and cold food cold. Refrigerate or freeze perishable food like meat, chicken, turkey, seafood, eggs, cut fruit, cooked rice, and leftovers within 2 hours (1 hour if food is exposed to temperatures above 90°F, such as in a hot car). The temperature in your refrigerator should be set at 40°F or below and the freezer at 0°F or below. Use pasteurized eggs for dishes containing raw eggs. Salmonella and other harmful germs can live on both the outside and inside of normal-looking eggs. Many holiday favorites contain raw eggs, including eggnog, tiramisu, hollandaise sauce, and salad dressings. Always use pasteurized eggs when making these and other foods made with raw eggs. Know that raw flour and eggs can have germs. Uncooked dough and batter made with flour or eggs can contain harmful germs, such as E. coli and Salmonella. This includes dough or batter for cookies, cakes, pies, biscuits, pancakes, tortillas, pizza, or crafts. Some companies and stores offer edible cookie dough made with heat-treated flour and pasteurized eggs or no eggs. Read the label carefully to make sure the dough is meant to be eaten without baking or cooking. Thaw your turkey safely. Thaw frozen turkey in the refrigerator, in a sink of cold water (change the water every 30 minutes), or in the microwave. Do not thaw turkey or other foods on the counter. A turkey must thaw at a safe temperature to prevent harmful germs from growing rapidly. Learn more about preparing turkey safely. Wash your hands with soap and water during these key times when you are likely to get and spread germs: Before, during, and after preparing food Before eating food After feeding pets After using the toilet After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet After touching garbage Before and after caring for someone who is sick Before and after treating a cut or wound After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing Some family and friends may be at higher risk for serious food poisoning. Take steps to help prevent them from getting sick this holiday season by choosing safer food options for Adults over 65 Children under 5 Pregnant people People with weakened immune systems
