S3 Ep5 | To “MacGuyver” something is to use something in an inventive way, using what you have in a creative way to repair or make something new. In the context of finance, traditional capital systems don't always work with the resources we have on hand, so many of us find ways to “MacGuyver” money to fit our needs as best we can. In this episode, Lakota Vogel shares how Four Bands Community Fund finds inventive solutions to make products and services that work for local Indigenous communities. Four Bands translates the traditional Lakota values of self-sufficiency, wise resource management, and a spirit of entrepreneurship into practical applications for today's modern economy. About Lakota.Lakota Vogel is the Executive Director at Four Bands. In this role, Lakota provides leadership for Four Bands, establishes new and fosters existing partnerships, and leads and manages efforts to reach organizational goals. Prior to becoming the Executive Director, Lakota served as the Assistant Director at Four Bands for five years. Before Four Bands, Lakota taught on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation at Todd County High School with Teach for America. Lakota obtained a BA in Sociology at the University of Notre Dame and an MA in Social Work Degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Lakota also completed a summer fellowship with National Congress of American Indians, served on the Native American Alumni Board of Directors at the University of Notre Dame, and initiated program evaluations at the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management. In recognition of her leadership, initiative, and dedication, the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development named Lakota as part of its 2018 class of “Native American 40 under 40.” Currently, Lakota serves on USDA's Equity Commission and sits on the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis' board of directors. Lakota is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe.Renegade Capital Tools & Tips.A renegade not only listens but acts. Don't just rely on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to challenge the status quo. Stop to ask questions about the community you're investing in, their needs, and the value they bring to the deal.Learn About Other Financial Systems. In order to find creative capital solutions, we can look to other cultures and communities for inspiration. Get educated on the values and history of native communities and what institutions like Four Bands Community Fund are doing to serve their clients. Offer Your Time and Expertise. Once you have learned more, find a place to serve as a volunteer, board member, or advisory committee member. We open the show with a look back at Tina Turner's career, but being us - we ended up wondering which member of the supergroup USA for Africa would die next. One name ''jumped'' out at us. Paulo reminds Dori of the mini-series V, while she reminds him of Macguyver's best friend. Frank Stallone wouldn't try boxing, so why did Sly sing? And we close off the episode with Two 80s Truths and a lie. Everything we discuss in this show can be found on @That80sShowSA on Facebook. This show originally plays out with music that we have to remove from the podcast - here are the songs we spoke about and played: Queen of Hearts - Juice Newton. Iko Iko - Cyndy Lauper
What time is it? It's time for another episode of the Coffee Sprudgecast. In this stirring episode, Jordan Michelman and Zachary Carlsen take a first-class ticket to Chocolate City. There they'll discuss the benefits of using real chocolate chips in mochas, the oat milk supply chain (Pacific Foods Barista Oat is back, baby!), whether or not you can make a satisfying inexpensive Macguyver mocha using household ingredients, and if Willy Wonka's chocolate factory focused too heavily on novelty and not enough on sustainable labor and sourcing practices. This episode of the Coffee Sprudgecast is sponsored by Pacific Barista Series and Ghirardelli.

They say that necessity is the mother of invention. And boy, do we in the West really need to figure out how to use less water. The federal government has imposed a February 1 deadline for the seven Colorado River Basin states to come up with a new conservation plan, so what would be realistic for us in the Denver metro area to contribute? Colorado Sun environment reporter Michael Booth is on today to talk about two new innovative water projects — a “MacGuyver-esque” wastewater recycling system in Aurora, and the new “cloud seeding” effort outside Longmont. Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/tweewielers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

COOKING INSIDE: FROM PRISON TO HOME, 23min., USA Directed by Brent Lambert-Zaffino Two men who were formerly incarcerated together recreate a prison meal exactly as they made it inside. The final month of the 95 Days of Summer kicked things off this week and we ran down a list of things to look forward to in the upcoming month. Plus, the Monday Morning Throwback took us to 2016 when Shaw dropped the now-famous, "Pampers Ja-BlowMe" quote. We talked about a Canadian candy company that's looking for a "Chief Candy Officer", and Brian recapped Ric Flair's final match. There was an interesting survey about our lottery habits after someone in IL won the $1billion Mega-Millions jackpot last Friday. Are there celebrities that you hate for no good reason? They might be on this list we discussed. Plus, Brian shared some of the party-hosting tips he's learned over the years for this week's "Summer Party Tip", and Shaw had some news about Oktoberfest in Germany being back, which led Brian to discuss the teufelsrad!!!!! We also had a story about a guy in jail who did some serious MacGuyver shit to bust out, and hooked you up with a new list of things to do in & around La Crosse this weekend!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Sometimes we are in a hurry for the end result of our change. We want the quick fix. However, change is something that usually compounds over time to realize desired results. This is not to say that change can not happen quickly, it certainly can. There are lottery winners - though I have heard that many lose their fortunes because there was not a mindset change to accompany the change in financial means. What I want to reinforce is that change that lasts is substantive and substantial things usually become substantial over time. Like the change from our pockets, we may realize the change in various areas of our life and at various times. However, when we put the change together it not only adds up, but we find that if we are able to save or invest it, it compounds over time to become more valuable than when we first used it. Sometimes the value is not in the initial form of the change itself, but how we are able to use the change in a manner that exploits it's real power of value. . For example, think of investing in real estate or in learning, the value of both can have greater value over time. Sometimes you may gain some information that is useful for the initial purpose you learned it for. However, like MacGuyver, you find a way to use it in a different scenario or in connection with other change that allows it to be even more valuable in connection with other items. A paintbrush or a musical instrument in the right hands seems to generate great value - but in the wrong hands, not so much. Collectibles are items that compound interest over time, but we must be careful as not all things are collectible, some are to be used for a time as a bridge to the future. So, as we look toward leading fulfilling lives of impact, let's take inventory of the wisdom and intellect we gain through the experiences and changes of life. Let's look to see how we might make investments or use of what we have collectively so that we can realize positive change compounded.

It's that time again - coming up on Thanksgiving. Yes, we're on hiatus but as promised, you've asked and we're re-airing some of our extraordinary women. And right now who better than Ida Morris, CEO of the Morris Family Kitchen. She's MacGuyver and Mary Poppins rolled into one amazing lady. An inspiration for bringing food and family together, Ida is the perfect episode for right now. We originally aired this episode over a year ago during the height of the pandemic. Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy.
I enjoy how easy it is to rhyme things with Katie's name, it really makes it easy for a lazy guy like me to make titles for her episodes. Regardless of that awesome fact, she's back, and we again discuss Liquid Sky, we were supposed to watch, but the only version that could be found was probably as awful as it always was, I was just used to it, being old and living through the VHS days. I had so many episodes of MacGuyver, but that's not the point, even though we didn't get to both watch the movie, this was still a great episode. This week Keegan, Cassi and Christina talk about birth control and pregnancy , play FMK with movie moms Diane Keaton from Family Stone, Molly Weasley from Harry Potter and Morticia Addams from The Addams Family, scream about a date that features a serious love for Captain Jack Sparrow, roll their eyes about a date that absolutely HAD to pay for dinner, and laugh about a date with a MacGuyver mentality through so many mishaps. Hi Everyone! Welcome to our first official episode!!! In this episode I battle it out against the three guys, as they try and score points towards their Ability Scores for their character Sparky MacGuyver Jones, through the usual 6 rounds ~vaguely~ related to the 6 ability scores you find on your D&D Character Sheet. This will be the first character for there Season 1 Adventuring Party (maybe Sh'Thead can come along also; but she has a 2 in strength as a barbarian, so maybe not the best companion!) and we will be back next week to make another character! This weeks games are then as follows: 1 - Strength: Mindflayer Mathletics! 2 - Dexterity: Alphabets 3 - Constitution: Just 10 Rounds of Combat 4 - Intelligence: Riddle Me This! 5 - Wisdom: Divination (Ahhhh...) 6 - Charisma: Want Some Spice? I do hope you enjoy and come along to see more of what we do in our next episode!
