This week, Leo and Steven go somewhere over a very dark rainbow to watch the children's movie of many nightmares Return to Oz. They talk about the original stories, initial audience reactions, doubling down on horror after horror after horror, hallways full of bitchy heads, the uselessness of wheelers, superb special effects and what happens when a film that has become a joke in the world of movie nerds... its actually really fucking good! Maybe even superb to the original. Watch the trailer here - Return to OzLike the show? Rate us on Apple or Spotify!Follow us on Instagram Follow us on TwitterLike the Ads? A very strange 14 minute story of a man who is in a state of shock, possibly a coma, possibly passed away, but his mind is still working imagining what will happen to him next. A perfect show for "The Black Mass" radio program. One actor - Erick Bauersfeld. The bed music during the story is creep and interesting... Bauersfeld produced, directed, and often acted in these plays that origiated from KPKA radio in Berkeley CA from 1963-67 and featured radio adaptations of many famous writers of Horror/Fantasy... used music more often than sound effects to enhance the stories. This track can be found in the "Horrors/Suspense" Playlist.
Well, it's been a little while. But tonight, join the AHH Crew as they are yet again drafting some horror movies!Tonight's topic is... Christopher Nolan! You may be saying, "Wait, Christopher Nolan doesn't Direct horror movies!" And you would be correct, dear listener. However, follow the bouncing ball here. If an actor or actress has been in a Nolan movie, and has also been in a horror movie, said movie is on the table. Some examples: Cillian Murphy in 28 Days Later, Emily Blunt in A Quiet Place, Morgan Freeman in Seven & Jessica Chastain in It: Chapter 2. Horror and fantasy shows appeared on radio nearly from the very start. The first horror drama during radio's golden age was The Witch's Tale, which was aired from 1931 to 1938. It featured Old Nancy, the Witch of Salem, who introduced a different terror tale each week. You'll hear an episode from 1937. Another early horror program was Lights Out, which started in 1934 and eventually made it to television. We have an episode from 1939, as well as popular series Inner Sanctum and the Sealed Book both from 1945. Our horror fest ends with the show Quiet Please from 1947, a program that was unique because most episodes featured no more than two or three actors. More at http://krobcollection.com

In the world of the undead, one name reigns supreme and sends a shiver down the spines of all who dare whisper it aloud: Renfield? After 90 years, the Dracula mythology continues to fascinate audiences, and now the cursed manservant of the granddaddy of all vampires is finally getting his due. Putting yet another spin on everyone's favourite bloodsucker, the 2023 movie Renfield focuses on the toxic relationship between a centuries-old vampire and his put-upon right-hand man with a blend of horror, action, and humour all served up by Chris McKay, the visionary director who brought us Lego Batman. Join your intrepid hosts over at the Reel Film Chronicles as we dissect Renfield and the titular character's attempts to exorcise his demons - both literal and metaphorical - amidst a blood-fuelled rampage of undead ghouls, abusive ex-boyfriends, coked-up crime families, corrupt police, and an unhinged Nicholas Cage, in a blend of on-screen insanity that gives Joe Carnahan a run for his money. Welcome to Conversations with Authors, where I – Alison Thompson, AKA The Proof Fairy – meet amazing authors and find out what inspires them to write and what advice they would offer other aspiring authors. In this episode I meet Beth Hildenbrand, a mother, grandmother, home educator and author living in Pennsylvania, USA. Beth is the author of “Cain the Heretic Son” and “Heretic Faith”, the first two books in a dark horror fantasy trilogy. She's also a poet with two books of her work published, and she runs her own community for authors, Buy The Author (such a clever name!). We talk about argumentative characters, writing as therapy and the importance of being part of a writing community. Beth also explains why she returned to self-publishing after a period with a traditional publisher, and you'll learn that it's never too late to follow your dreams, no matter who you are. More About Beth Hildenbrand Beth Hildenbrand is the author of the Cain series. She lives in Ephrata, Pennsylvania with her family. Beth loves heavy metal, vintage horror movies and coffee. Hello and welcome to another episode of B Bin Horror! On today's episode we talk about the 1993 Horror/Fantasy, Leprechaun. Leprechaun was written and directed by Mark Jones and stars Warwick Davis, Jennifer Aniston and Mark Holton. Not only is this movie perfect for St. Patrick's Day, but it was Jennifer Aniston's most recognizable role which she is very proud of! We discuss the movie about as much as the others and we talk about some Leprechaun folklore. We also talk about how we would trap his little green ass and how we would spend his gold! Hello and welcome to another episode of B Bin Horror. On today's episode we discussed the 1992 Horror/Fantasy, Army of Darkness. Army of Darkness was directed by Sam Raimi, and stars Bruce Campbell as the heroic Ash Williams! This episode was recorded a few months ago because we weren't able to record the past week, so this is not the same format as our newer releases. Even though it is the previous format, we still enjoyed this episode a lot. We came up with our own team to fight the deadites, argued about windmills and fans and most likely made a few dick jokes. If you arent already, please follow us on Instagram and Facebook @bbinhorror. You can also email us at bbinhorror@gmail.com.
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked Slewfoot, with only a few things to take me out of 1666 Connecticut. 00:00 - Today we will get into Slewfoot by Brom https://amzn.to/3zA6z2A 01:01 - A tale of bewitchery 01:50 - The setting and people 03:02 - The VVitch meets A Midsummer's Night Dream 04:23 - Abitha and her husband 06:30 - A peek inside the book 09:00 - It's good to own land... 10:11 - Skipping church? That's a paddlin' 11:22 - It may even be more horror than fantasy 12:12 - Have you read Slewfoot? Slewfoot by Gerald Brom was a gift to me, and an anticipated read all in one. Abitha, the lead character, as a near-shunned Puritan woman and the cover art had me deeply intrigued. What I did not expect was the level of whimsy and fantasy found here, and while normally it's not my cup of tea, this fit so nicely into my vision of a magical occurrence at this time, that I would certainly read more like this. I'm new to Brom, save casual noticing of his art, so his style may not come as a surprise to fans. Meeting Abitha and the bible quoting townsfolk was as intriguing to me as the creatures that step from the forest to turn her life upside down. Newly widowed, fighting a land claim, and practising healing arts made Abitha's life in 1966 Connecticut feel very real to me. Then, there is Slewfoot. The imagery linked to the myth is lovely and enchanting as all the rest. A cross between Robert Eggers' film ‘The Witch' and A Midsummers Night Dream. ✮✮✮✮✮✮ Welcome to Typical books; horror fiction unbound - I am Lydia Peever, horror author and co-host of the horror film podcast Dead Air and creator of the horror booktube channel Typical Books.
