Recent research has shed light on the apprehension CEOs harbor towards uncertainty. A 2019 Harvard Business Review study revealed a tendency among CEOs to shy away from decision-making in uncertain situations, even when such decisions could significantly influence a company's success. The study's findings attribute this behavior to the inherent risk aversion of CEOs, who prioritize decisions geared toward minimizing potential losses. Another pertinent study, featured in the journal "Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes," unveiled that uncertainty often prompts CEOs to make impulsive decisions. After 25 years of marriage, I found myself living alone and facing the rest of my life as a solo. I thought I wanted to find another partner, but honestly, I spent more time worrying about what it would be like to grow old alone than actually going out and meeting men. It's always interesting to see where we focus our time.I won't say learning to live alone & being happy was easy, but I mucked my way through it, made lots of mistakes, but I've also learned a lot….and experienced much happiness. But, I didn't find true happiness while living alone until I finally got to that place when I realized that we can only really be happy in the moment, that happiness isn't a goal you work towards like a job, a particular house, a certain kind of connection. Happiness isn't going to suddenly appear when you get what it is you think you want.I found that happiness only happens when we realize it's a state of mind. Living alone doesn't have to mean you are lonely and unhappy. That stereotypical older spinster with her multitude of cats and overgrown garden is long gone. In fact, the number of women who are living alone has significantly grown over the past two decades and seems to continue to be growing. But living alone and being happy, isn't a given, and that is what we are going to talk about in this video.//WHEN YOU'RE READY, HERE'S HOW I CAN HELP YOUFREE SUBSCRIPTION TO EXTRAORDINARY WOMEN MAGAZINEhttps://www.extraordinarywomenmagazine.com/SCHOOL OF JOIE DE VIVREhttps://www.extraordinarywomenmagazine.com/programAPPLY TO BE FEATUREDhttps://extraordinarywomenmagazine.com/contribute/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/extraordinarywomenmagazine/

Your Hope-Filled Perspective with Dr. Michelle Bengtson podcast

Episode Summary:  Do you constantly compare yourself with others? On social media, in your neighborhood, at church, or in the school drop-off lane, do you push yourself to prove that you measure up . . . and then feel ashamed when you don't? Measuring yourself against others isn't healthy. And it isn't God's plan. In fact, the way of Jesus is completely upside down from this measure-up world. He invites us to follow him and be restored to freedom, confidence, and joy. Join me with Shannon Popkin as we address how to stop comparing yourself to others. Quotables from the episode: The constant effort to prove that I measure up (or try to hide when I don't), does not lead to a life of freedom and joy. Here's what does: learning to live me-free. At its root, comparison places value on our differences. Comparison is really a pride issue—it keeps us focused on ourselves. When we compare ourselves to others, we focus on how we measure up (or don't) like lines on a measuring glass. But Jesus points out the spout—that place where we pour out on others. Comparison 1) distracts me from my purpose; 2) depletes my productivity, and 3) destroys our potential. When we fall prey to comparison, we need to ask ourselves “Is this something Jesus would say to me?” Comparison is a tactic of the enemy, whether we are comparing our appearance, our status, our sin, or even our ministry for Jesus to others'. Humility is a key to combatting comparison. Comparison is often bred because we don't desire to be “less than” others, but in God's economy those who are the least, are considered the greatest. There is NO exclusivity in the kingdom of God. Healthy comparison includes those times we are inspired and learn from others, and are then encouraged to be and do what I am uniquely called to do. Comparison divides us and causes us to back away, when God is calling us to move toward him! When tempted to compare yourself to others, ask yourself “who am I listening to?” Scripture says “my sheep know my voice,” so be sure you are listening for God's voice.   Scripture References: Philippians 2:5-7 ESV Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,[a] 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,[b] 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant James 3:14-15 ESV But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. 15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. Matthew 20:26-27 ESV But whoever would be great among you must be your servant,[c] 27 and whoever would be first among you must be your slave,[d] 28 even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve,    Recommended Resources:  Comparison Girl: Lessons from Jesus on Me-Free Living in a Measure-Up World by Shannon Popkin Control Girl by Shannon Popkin The Hem of His Garment: Reaching Out to God When Pain Overwhelms by Dr. Michelle Bengtson YouVersion 5-Day Devotional Reaching Out To God When Pain Overwhelms   Today is Going to be a Good Day: 90 Promises to Start Your Day Off Right by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the AWSA 2023 Inspirational Gift Book of the Year Award, the Christian Literary Awards Reader's Choice Award in four categories, and the Christian Literary Awards Henri Award for Devotionals YouVersion 7-Day Devotional, Today is Going to be a Good Day YouVersion 7-Day Devotional, Today is Going to be Another Good Day Breaking Anxiety's Grip: How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Breaking Anxiety's Grip Free Study Guide Free 7-Day YouVersion Bible Reading Plan for Breaking Anxiety's Grip Hope Prevails: Insights from a Doctor's Personal Journey Through Depression by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the Christian Literary Award Reader's Choice Award Hope Prevails Bible Study by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the Christian Literary Award Reader's Choice Award Trusting God Through Cancer 1 Trusting God Through Cancer 2 Revive & Thrive Women's Conference Subdue Stress and Anxiety: Fifteen Experts Offer Comprehensive Tools in Ten Minutes a Day. “Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. You Can Learn To Live Without The Food That Is Killing You Milton Mills, MD • https://www.preventionofdisease.org/milton-mills #MiltonMills  #DiseasePrevention  #Vegan Milton Mills, MD practices urgent care medicine in the Washington DC area, and has served previously as Associate Director of Preventive Medicine and as a member of the National Advisory Board, for Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM).  He has been a major contributor to position papers presented by PCRM to the United States Department of Agriculture regarding Dietary Guidelines for Americans, and has been the lead plaintiff in PCRM's class action lawsuit that asks for warning labels on milk. Dr. Mills earned his medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine, and completed an Internal Medicine residency at Georgetown University Hospital.  He has published several research journal articles dealing with racial bias in federal nutrition policy. He frequently donates his time via practicing at free medical clinics, and travels widely, speaking at hospitals, churches and community centers throughout the country.  He was featured in the recent attention-getting film “What the Health,” and will also appear in the upcoming film “The Silent Vegan.” A major focus of Dr. Mills' patient advisement as well as his lecturing, is the use of nutritional measures to reduce the risk of major chronic diseases. He notes that the scientific research literature shows plant-based diets as supporting better overall immune system function, and during work with HIV-positive and AIDS patients at clinics, he's observed that those who go vegetarian seem to improve, with increased energy and higher T-cell counts.  He therefore hopes throughout the future to examine further the relationships between diet and immune functionality, particularly the effects of plant-based eating choices upon outcomes forHIV-positive patients. To Contact Dr. Milton Mills go to https://www.preventionofdisease.org/milton-mills Disclaimer:Medical and Health information changes constantly. "Letting go" author Guy Finley explains that when a question includes the heart, the mind, and the body together, then the question is no longer in thought. It's no longer just a temporary emotion or sensation. It belongs to another order of being that is connected to a higher order of intelligence that will resolve the question.

“It's everybody's story personally, every single person, it's their story and the whole human race, the whole human consciousness. It's the story of human consciousness.”Inevitably we always circle back around to sharing the story of frog medicine again because of the depth of healing, awakening, and knowing love and beauty it offers. I feel this is one of the most profound talks with Kay because she talks about the magic of life, the magic of human life, and how we can live when we shed our cultural programming and become and live the truth of who we are.Don't listen to this while doing other things; I guarantee you will miss so much of the teachings this story offers. Make special time, listen with more than your mind, listen with your whole being, and listen to it more than once.Ka Ta See is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support our work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. If you ever wondered why we say that we either wake up or perish? Well, look at the world, and you will see your answer. The teachings of frog medicine are all about what it means to change inside, to wake up and live awake, and in so doing shift all of humanity toward awakening and change the world. If we genuinely want to see a different world, living like the frog will create it quicker than you can imagine. If you are curious to gain a deeper understanding of what that looks like, listen to Kay talk about frog medicine and what it means to learn to live like the frog does.“It's the story of human consciousness.”On the surface it looks like another nice medicine story, but what it really is is the story about what we are capable of, the story of our true nature, the story about how we are meant to and can live as humans living from our heart, from our truth, from love and innocence. From our Song. It is a story about living in health, living awake, and about the world we can create if we learn how to do both. It's the story of human consciousness. At one point, Kay says, “if you don't sing it, the magic doesn't happen.” Meaning if we don't learn to sing our Song like the frog does if we don't live our Song, we won't create the magic we want to see in the world. The story starts with Kay talking about how living this way is at the heart of conscious living, and shortly after she shares that these teachings are at the heart of all the sacred knowledge.“It's the first step, it's the middle steps, it's the last step.“The frog, the frog medicine, this, this way of living inside yourself, this way of being from deep inside yourself, from the core, from the core of your heart, the core of your Song, truth of who you are. To be it. Not think of it as some kind of separate thing, a separate thing that you need to pursue or capture, attain, that's, that doesn't work. It's something, it's the carrot sitting in front of you waggling around that you can never catch if you treat it that way. “Your Song, you're beingness, the aliveness, the entity, the consciousness that is you, that's who you actually are. And your body is part of that. Your mind is part of that. Your personality in this lifetime is part of that, part of your Song.“So as we learn to wake up in the way of these old, these ancient, ancient, ancient traditions that essentially originated from the stars from the star people, they're the ones who, who gave, gave us this kind of knowledge in the first place. And it's been carried down on this planet for so many, many, many millennia, long before humans were here, earth humans here on earth the way we are right now, homosapian sapiens long before that. It's just been passed down and shared and passed down and shared and kept very, very, very sacred because this is at the heart of all the sacred knowledge. “This is the core piece. It's the first step. It's the middle steps. It's the last step, learning how to be you, learning who you really are, what you really are. Because the truth of these things is nothing, absolutely nothing like what our culture has told us for so many, many, many years.”Enjoy the beautiful story about frog medicine and all the healing it offers! We also published a video with close caption; if you prefer to watch that, go to https://www.katasee.world/frog.If you want to learn to live this way, the best way to start is Kay's book, “The Reluctant Shaman, A Woman's First Encounters With The Unseen Spirits Of The Earth”  - https://amzn.to/3SA5i58Some books teach, and some books have moments of touching your soul, and there are books created to awaken your spirit to love and beauty. The Reluctant Shaman is all that, but Kay wrote it most especially to guide you to know the truth of your Song and live it. If you allow it, it can give you a true sense of the beauty and expanse of your soul, your Song. You can explore more about Ka Ta See and our work and contact us at www.katasee.com and www.lorakeddie.com.Love and Song,Helmutwww.katasee.com Get full access to Ka Ta See at katasee.substack.com/subscribe

What would your past self from ten years ago think if they could fast forward to the moment you're living in now?Would you be proud of how far you've come? Would the limited perspective skew what you see? Last week on Impact Without Limits, Dale and Brian shared the story of Placitas Man and the impact his words of wisdom had on them. At the time of their conversation with him, they could hardly fathom employing more than ten people. But they trusted his advice to “Press on, work hard, and don't look back.” As they applied his advice throughout their journey, the brothers found this way of working often required them to live in the “messy middle” —one of the most challenging places to be.Today, Brian and Dale pause their Albuquerque adventure to share a glimpse of their present day, 20 years removed from that conversation with Placitas Man.Did the advice of Placitas Man hold true throughout their business journey? And can this advice play a part in your story?Tune into this week's episode of Impact Without Limits to find out.Episode Highlights: Dale & Brian move back to Ohio.Noticing dominant businesses in the community.People will always overestimate or underestimate you.Staying “others focused.”It's all about perspective.Links Mentioned in Episode/Find More on ForeverLawn:www.foreverlawn.comInstagram: @foreverlawnincGet Grass Without Limits HereVisit our show notes page HERESubscribe to Our Newsletter HERE
