When a Polish scientist needs to be operated on and rescued from Belgium, his handler, a British agent called Bradley encounters Lifeline. When he discovers that Natalie is being tailed by the Germans he elects to intervene... This month AJ and Andy review Juliet Hammond's favourite episode, the Natalie-centric Lucky Piece, in which we first meet maverick secret agent Nick Bradley played by Paul Shelley. The pair debate the episode's potential chauvinism,  how Natalie is depicted, and the directorial choices made by Viktors Ritelis. Elsewhere, Andy is excited to share a new location find, while AJ debates if Bradley is a cat person or not. We also hear from Andy's partner, Ryan; Alex Wilcock; and our end credits guest: Dr Madeleine Jowett.  The book that AJ mentions is 'London 1945' by Maureen Waller. "It's time to ditch the 'R' word," said Nik Wheatley last year in an article on Campaign that exposed the regional divide that exists in adland, and the danger of categorising everywhere outside of London as the 'regions'. It was revealed that £250m in billings has been lost from the North West to London in recent years, due to agencies relocations and advertisers bulling their business from northern agencies. In this episode, Wheatley dials in from his Manchester media agency Notorious Communications along with deputy media editor Beau Jackson and editor Maisie McCabe. The episode is hosted by tech editor Lucy Shelley. They discuss the regoinal divide, its impact beyond client wins and media investment and what role intermediaries play. They evaluate the edge that agencies outside of London have over shops in the capital, what is needed to level the playing field and if we will see a battle of the independents this year.Further reading:Popping the London bubbleManchester's media boom: 'Mancs genuinely believe they can change the world'London media should wake up to the power of the regionsWhy brands should look outside the London bubbleBrexit: It's time to get out of your London bubble and understand the nation Hosted on Acast. We also discussed his work for the Royal Hospital Chelsea, some of which survives to this day. We talked about John Gwynne's 'London & Westminster Improved (1766) and the ongoing problem of London and Westminster's disorderly urbanism, which Soane's unbuilt schemes cannot convincingly overcome — as always, he is at his best when constrained! Do you ever feel like fitness has become an unattainable Holy Grail? This episode is a testament to the contrary featuring Cory Gallup and Ross Nelson, who share their transformative health and nutrition journeys. They've put in the hard work, discipline and marathons of self-love to lose over 150 pounds collectively, debunking the myth of quick fixes and fad diets. They take us through their initial approaches, Cory's 'eat less and move more' mantra, and Ross's tailored plan, and the importance of aligning with like-minded wellness warriors along the way.Stacks of fitness magazines and quick-fix diet plans can often leave us feeling like we're grasping at straws. But Cory and Ross prove that it's about fostering daily habits and a mindset change, not the latest diet trend on Instagram. Carl Hartley is the co-owner and director of the Tom Hartley supercar dealership, which since 1973 has blazed a trail in the world of aspirational automobile ownership. Carl has been an integral part of the business since the age of 12 years old when he left primary school in order to focus his life upon the family brand, and in this episode, he talks candidly to Steven about where he finds the extraordinary drive that has catapulted him to the pinnacle of business success, why the luxury market has thrived even during economic downturns, and how he and his family have turned their name into one of the mightiest brands in the world. KEY TAKEAWAYS  Social media has meant that the aspirational lifestyle has been overdone slightly in terms of promotion, meaning that there has been an impact in what it means to own a luxury car. If you want to hit the bigger goals in life you have to be moving constantly. Don't ever sit back and assume you've reached the finish line - keep going. There are certain intangibles that Tom Hartley provide that other dealers simply cannot match - price and terms are a huge part, but the actual purchasing experience is second to none. The luxury brands have proven time and time again that even during the most turbulent financial times, they are a safe haven for investment. Even during COVID, the luxury sector thrived and attracted incredible amounts of investment. BEST MOMENTS 'I never stand still long enough to look at the view' 'The name Tom Hartley has become more than a dealership - it is a brand' 'We operate in a way that nobody else can operate' 'London in the summer is like a car show' VALUABLE RESOURCES The Steven Sulley Study        Carl Hartley Instagram - www.instagram.com/carlhartley1 ABOUT THE HOST The Steven Sulley Study is my take on success. Amber grew up in London, and despite initial wanting's to break free, like many a restless young-adult, she stayed-put given her being accepted to the prestigious Central Saint Martins University.  She found the philosophy of that institution to be a perfect fit, especially given her needing a bit of a hand-up.   Her background is modest, being first-generation-college from  working class family, and with many siblings.  Frankly speaking, many (including Amber)  would not have called her university material. Complicating things more, she learned  that she was carrying a diagnosis of Dyslexia, which answered many questions for Amber.  Amber Roper is amazing in her recognition that support in the form of having her creativity be not only be recognized and seen, but to also be "championed" by her parents, and more recently her musically-inclined partner. Amber has since graduated from Central St. Martins, she has exhibited internationally, garnered critical acclaim, awards and notable, a tremendous sense of balance and appreciation for her role as a a new mom, and an artist.  That is what drew us to her and it was a total pleasure to talk with Amber Rober.  Amber's website:  https://thebluhenstudio.london/Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/thebluhenstudio/  or @theBluhenstudioKites and Strings Website: https://www.kitesandstrings.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kitesandstringspodcastTwitter:   @KitesandstringsInstagram:  @Kites_and_stringsemail: Kitesandstringspodcast@gmail.comKites and String's is produced and edited by Steve Ploum at Turning Stones Counseling, Inc.Our theme music is by Harrison Amer, and all other original music by purple planet music at https://www.purple-planet.com.  Our logo-design is by Cole Monroe at Blue Stag Creative.

Áine Rose Daly is a young actress who's career would be squarely in the "taking flight" category.  Early on she was in an episode of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan,  she's been in a music video or two and she was in the critically acclaimed film, Boiling Point, which can be streamed on Amazon Prime. Also available on Amazon Prime is the three-season action/thriller Hanna, which is where Kites and Strings (well, Steve) first saw her.  Áine was amazing in her role - first as girl 242 in season one and all over the screen in seasons two and three when 242 becomes Sandy Phillips. And speaking of transitions, Áine is also in the werewolf film, Eight for Silver, which was renamed The  Cursed in the States, where it opened in February 2022.  One would think  that acting is her passion.  But you might be wrong.  In this episode you will learn that she enjoys her job as an actor, where she gets to be other people,  but you will also find that she taps her most creative and expressive parts when creating music.  We learn about her start as an actor, what its like being on the set, especially in the productions of Boiling Point and Hanna, and we'll learn about her process as an actor and as a musician.  We're happy to share a couple of her songs in this episode and we hope you have a great time as we explore string grabbing and kite flying with London-based Áine Rose Daly.
