Dallas Stars forward Mason Marchment will not receive supplemental discipline from the Department of Player Safety after he made contact with referee Graham Skilliter in game 3 against the Winnipeg Jets. Marchment's play wasn't the only controversy in the game as Alex Petrovic's 3-2 goal was deemed good after it appeared to have been kicked in. Jason and Frank are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown as the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs continues to roll on. At first, it felt like we might get a few pretty quick series, but the results from this weekend have drastically changed things. To start things off, they looked into the Toronto and Florida series, where the home teams have been absolutely dominant. The Maple Leafs were a bounce away from taking a 3-0 series lead but now, things are all tied up at two as they head back to Toronto for Game 5.They also talked about the Dallas Stars taking a 2-1 series lead on the Winnipeg Jets and some of the headlines that have come from that series like the seven-minute video review, Hellebuyck's play and Mason Marchment hitting a referee with his stick. They also quickly touched on some of the coaching situations around the league, including Joel Quenneville being officially hired by the Anaheim Ducks, before getting to Tyler Yaremchuk and a new edition of Fill in the Blank, where he asked the guys about Frank's latest Top 50 Free Agents ranking. After that, they talked about the other two series from Round 2 as the Golden Knights got a massive last second victory over the Edmonton Oilers to get themselves right back in their series and the Carolina Hurricanes delivered another dominant victory over the Washington Capitals and now have a 2-1 series lead.0:55 - Panthers even up series with Maple Leafs8:40 - Hellebuyck & the Jets14:50 - Marchment's frustration20:40 - Coaching updates27:40 - Fill in the Blank40:00 - Coaching updates42:55 - Canes take 2-1 lead on Caps45:15 - Oilers lose Game 3 & Pickard's status53:20 - NHL Quarter Century TeamWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Ahead of game four between the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights, Joey of Locked On Stars previews tonight's game including updates on Mason Marchment and Radek Faksa, how the Stars can replicate success they found in game three, and the response of Vegas on home ice.
Plenty of news came out of practice Monday for the Dallas Stars and the most intriguing storyline is Chris Tanev. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey goes over Tanev and the immigration process that may keep him out of tonight's game against the San Jose Sharks. If Tanev does join the team and is inserted into the lineup, where does he fit. The Stars and Head Coach Pete DeBoer can experiment some, but they have less than 20 games to figure out what works best. Joey would like to see Tanev paired with Heiskanen to put Miro on his strong side, plus spread the wealth with Thomas Harley to another partner. The key however, is to break up Jani Hakanpaa and Esa Lindell who have the worst expected goals against rate of all pairings. We also touch on the news of Tyler Seguin skating once again and the possibility is Evgenni Dadanov being out for the season. Then we preview tonight's game against the Sharks. The beginning of a three game west coast trip begins against the Sharks that took Dallas the distance a few days ago. Joey's key to the game is Mason Marchment and Matt Duchene finding a way to be productive without Tyler Seguin. DeBoer has struggled to found someone to fill that role and he expects those two to drive the line back to success. Marchment is without a point in his last five. Finally the last segment we play shooting star! Today's pick is the young rookie Logan Stankoven, Joey has not picked Stanky yet, so he goes bold and predicts a Hat Trick at the tank! Mason Marchment in his second season with the Dallas Stars is en route to a career year. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey highlights the offensive numbers for Marchment and how they stack up against others on the Stars high powered offense. He's currently top five in points and ranks among the top in Expected Goals and Goals Per 60 while also being a physical presence. Not only is he on pace to break career highs in goals, assists and points, but he's drawn the most penalty minutes on the team by quite a margin. Like Tyler Seguin, he has certainly reaped the benefits of the Matt Duchene signing. The next topic revolves around tonight's game versus the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs are very top heavy, but with players like Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Cale Makar you can win a lot of games. This matchup is a huge test for the Stars at home coming off a game they should have been able to win if they did not surrender a three goal lead after scoring 11 seconds into the game. The final segment is another update on Jake Oettinger, who left his last start with a lower body injury on December 15. Head Coach Pete DeBoar changed the status from week-to-week, to day-to-day and stated that he is getting better every day. He has begun skating and doing more which is a great sign since Scott Wedgewood is going to make his 9th straight start. Otter is right around the corner and will hopefully be ready for this crucial stretch in the month of January.Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

Otter is right around the corner and will hopefully be ready for this crucial stretch in the month of January. The Dallas Stars blew out the Chicago Blackhawks by an 8-1 final on New Year's Eve. Mason Marchment had a hat trick in route to a four point night and completing back to back games for the Stars with hat tricks when Roope Hintz did it two nights prior. Tyler Seguin had 3 points and only three players left the game without a point for Dallas. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey believes this is a glimpse of how great the Stars can be. Obviously, the Blackhawks are one of the bottom five teams in the league, but the dominating nature of the win makes him think this could be their potential. Included with that is the play of the defense, it's important that the Stars defensive core plays great in their own zone, but also produces offensively and December has show that. Miro Heiskanen had 15 points in the month, Thomas Harley had 11, Jani Hakanpaa and Esa Lindell are chipping in as well and with the personnel Dallas has currently, they must play this way to have ultimate success. The final segment is about 2024 resolutions for the Dallas Stars, the first two are obvious and certain ones that Joey has expressed before such as bringing in another right shot defensemen, bringing the goals against average down, but Joey really wants Jake Oettinger to be fully healthy. Otter has been skating, but its very important that Otter takes all the time he needs and is ready to return at full tilt. The Stars are winning and Scott Wedgewood has been more than impressive in his absence. Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19 Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

The Dallas Stars offense exploded for eight goals on Saturday afternoon in an 8-1 win over the Lightning. The Stars had eight players with multi point nights including Joe Pavelski, Thomas Harley, Mason, Marchment, Tyler Seguin and more! The PK continues to be great as they went 5/6 on the game and the new look power play units went 2/2 including a patented Pavelski deflection goal to extend his point streak to nine games. Esa Lindell and Jani Hakanpaa played big minutes on the penalty kill and have been huge factors to the success this season. However, the big storyline entering the game was Pete DeBoer healthy scratched Nils Lundkvist and Evgenni Dadanov. Joey shares his thoughts on why they might have done this and how it affects the Stars lineup. The show finishes with 3 keys to the game against Tampa Bay tonight as the Stars begin their three game road trip.Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
