Long before anyone was a Belieber and Justin Bieber became a household name, Shani Gonzales was already a fan. This instinctive foresight and her unwavering self-confidence have been the cornerstones of her illustrious career, culminating in her present positions. Shani holds the dual roles of Executive Vice President and Managing Director at Warner Chappell Music UK and the Head of International A&R at Warner Chappell Music. Her track record in the music business is distinguished by her knack for signing and guiding some of the most influential artists of our time, including DJ Khaled, Juice Wrld, and Bibi Bourelly, who has penned hits for the likes of Camila Cabello, Rihanna, and Selena Gomez. Among the high-caliber talents she has played a part in developing are Labrinth, Justin Bieber, MeLo-X, Nate Cyphert (famous for his work with Florida Georgia Line), Nic Nac (linked with Chris Brown and DJ Khaled), Poo Bear, P2J (producer for superstars like Beyoncé, Doja Cat, WizKid), Saint Jhn, Travis Scott, and WondaGurl, known for her production work with Drake and Rihanna.   In her leadership capacity at Warner Chappell Music UK, and in tandem with her A&R international duties, Gonzales is pivotal in broadening the publisher's UK roster. She selects artists with a focus on diversity and has been influential in acquiring talents such as BOJ, Central Cee, Daniel Blumberg, Emma-Jean Thackray, Legendury Beatz, P2J, and The Snuts. Her advocacy for international cooperation has been relentless, ensuring that Warner Chappell Music's global network of esteemed artists works together harmoniously, fostering cross-border artistic partnerships.   Shani's extraordinary career achievements, while a product of her relentless effort, are also a testament to the influence of her Jamaican and Trinidadian heritage, thanks to her parents' unwavering support, open-mindedness, and nurturing.   In this discussion, we delve into the nuances of managing one of the leading publishing divisions within a major music company. We explore how Shani synergizes her seasoned judgment with the fresh perspectives of her team, even in areas where she continues to grow. And, we'll uncover her three key strategic plays. MeLo-X is not underrated and he's not just a producer. Don't dare pigeon hole this visual and auditory master, and I explain why, as we navigate through various mediums of remixing, visual arts, directing, singing vocals, creating album art and more. He has collaborated with Beyoncé, Jesse Boykins III and more and this year sees him evolving and levelling up even more as this year Beyonce released a track called “Find Your Way Back”, now remixed by MeLo-X. This comes with the release of the deluxe version of The Lion King: The Gift and Beyoncé’s visual album BLACK IS KING. MeLo-X is always dropping something for the ladies that stays consistent with his affinity for beat chopping and his amazing ear for slow jams.

Animé par Mehdi Maizi avec Aurélien Chapuis, Nicolas Pellion et Brice BossavieRÉFÉRENCESSyd - Fin (Columbia, 2017) Rewind à réecouter, consacré à l’album Ego Death du groupe The Internet (Odd Future, 2015) : https://soundcloud.com/nofunshow/rewind-2-ego-death-the-internet, Matt Martians, Steve Lacy, Odd Future, Tyler The Creator, Frank Ocean (émission à réecouter : https://soundcloud.com/nofunshow/solange-frank-ocean-2-albums-parfaitement-complementaires), Aaliyah, Know (Fin, Syd, Columbia, 2017), Body (Fin, Syd, Columbia, 2017), Melo X, Drown in It (Fin, Syd, Columbia, 2017), Over (Fin, Syd ft. 6LACK, Columbia, 2017), Insecurities (Fin, Syd, Columbia, 2017), The Neptunes, The Weeknd, Fifty Shades of Grey (E. In this episode we discuss "Hookup Culture." We reference Camille Jetta's article, "What a Bolshevik taught me about hookup culture," to dissect the not so new phenomenon of casual intimate relations... kudos to the flower children of the sexual revolution for giving Rihanna the inspiration for "Needed Me"! Per usual, we try to stay unbiased and present the female side, the male side, and God's grace... amen. We start off with Hot Topics and my word there were some thanggssss percolating this week. Beyonce channeled Harriet "$20" Tubman chic in a stunning one hour-long HBO Special accompaniment to her album LEMONADE. She channeled "Beloved" fashions. She channeled Toni Morrison level wokeness in this release. For another relevant visual to the album #NeverForget the "elevator incident": https://youtu.be/CEUVrKoWGXg It also seems Bey is vying to headline Afro Punk 2016 and get her hipster cred with musical credits/features from Father John Misty, Shan's fav Melo-X, Jack White, Diplo, Morg's fav James Blake, and fiftyleven other obscure favs of Brooklyn bearded people. Some other things happened this week, but they weren't as important as fresh squeezed Lemonade, ya mean. The ONLY thing more important is remembering the purple one, Prince. #RestInPower I'll leave you with this quote from an incident we didn't get a chance to cover this week, "Are ya'll finished or are ya'll done?" -Young 'bol Birdman Bless up! P:S: Ten FIYAH quotes from LEMONADE in no particular order... 1) The episode's title. 2) "Ashes to ashes / dust to side chicks." 3) "Today I regret the night I put that ring on." 4) "He better call Becky with the good hair." 5) "Suck on my balls, pause." 6) “Most bomb p*ssy.” 7) "Good job Bey!" - Blue Ivy 8) "I am the dragon breathing fire / Beautiful man I'm the lion." 9) "It don't hit me quite the same / Maybe it's a cause for concern." 10) "Ten times out of nine, I know you're lying / But nine times outta ten, I know you're trying."
