Hann hevur nøkur ból, men einki seyðahús. Á hesum túrinum á Eystursíðuni harmast Jón um, at so lítil heiðafuglur er at síggja. -Eg hoyrdi um at sumbingar gjørdu eitt átak at týna rottuna í fjør.

Again, that’s businessmakers.network. As our reporter Justin Chartray wrote, we’ve entered another spring of baseball, and the first game this year was played on March 18th between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Where did they play? Chicago? Los Angeles? Actually, they played in Tokyo, Japan. This might seem a little weird at first, but there’s some reasoning behind it. Our journalist Justin Chartray interviewed a former pitcher for the MLB named Mark Dewey, who’s also the host of the podcast In the Bullpen. Dewey has been involved in baseball for over twenty years, and he thinks that playing baseball in Tokyo is an overall good thing. For instance, he enjoys the fact that baseball is gaining traction in other places of the world as a popular sport, and so it makes sense to play the first game in Tokyo because many baseball fans live there. "“Overall I see it as a positive move. Now, if I knew the actual motives behind it, I could have all kinds of concerns.” (https://www.crosspoliticnews.com/news/recovering-americas-pasttime) After all, there are reasons to believe that baseball’s popularity is generally declining in America. Local networks are struggling, there are fewer people who watch it, and young boys don't seem to be playing it as much. Why? Well, baseball is a bit more expensive and particularized than other sports that just need a ball to kick or throw. Also, people might not be as interested in baseball because it requires more attention and patience than most social media influenced Americans want to give a sport. Over the years, baseball has continued trying to keep peoples’ interest through shortening the game, by playing loud music, by including dancing girls, and by finishing off games with a fireworks finale. Mark Dewey, the former MLB pitcher mentioned earlier, notice that this overall change in baseball actually started around 35 years ago, and we’re still seeing it today. "I have no problem trying to grow the game, trying to involve more fans. But I’m convinced if baseball sets all kinds of revenue records, I would still argue that the vast majority of that has nothing to do with baseball fans. You’re not developing fans, you’re expanding a customer base.” (https://www.crosspoliticnews.com/news/recovering-americas-pasttime) Even worse, America is seeking globalism at the cost of its morality, much like its neighbor across the Atlantic—Europe. Terrible ideology is pouring out of America’s big colleges into the baseball diamond, and it’s slowly rotting the sport. In order to rekindle America’s love for good baseball, Dewey says that we need to start baseball again in the home and then in that home’s surrounding community. Then, along with cultivating this humbler, neighborhood mindset, we must fight the other major problems plaguing baseball and our culture, which are self-idolatry and self-obsession. This idolatry must be killed if we want to restore baseball to the iconic American game that it once was. Our journalist Esther Elliott recently interviewed Samuel Sey, a black Christian, conservative blogger who fights against and explains the ideological problems of our culture. He enjoys explaining topics through a biblical lens, and coupled with this, he also uses stories to help persuade his audience better. In this interview, Sey mentioned that while he was interested in politics since the start of high school, it wasn’t until Christians voted for Obama in 2008 and the BLM riots happened a decade later that he really wanted to explore the topic of politics more. Now, he has a blog called Slow to Write where he posts about politics and became his full-time job after it was received well around 2020. Are you enjoying this? Are you not? Tell us what to do more of, and what you'd like to hear less of. The Reykjavík Grapevine's Iceland Roundup brings you the top news with a healthy dash of local views. In this episode, Grapevine publisher Jón Trausti Sigurðarson is joined by Heimildin journalist Aðalsteinn Kjartansson, and Grapevine friend and contributor Sindri Eldon to roundup the stories making headlines in recent weeks. On the docket this week are: ✨ An update on a tourist rescued by SARS almost two weeks ago near Seyðisfjörður in East Iceland. We tell you who it was, and what we can learn from his "adventure".✨The minister of Education & Children, Ásthildur Lóa Þórsdóttir resigned Thursday after a story broke about her having had a child with a 16 year old boy in 1990. ✨Carbfix, an Icelandic company founded in 2007 that has developed an approach to permanently store CO2 by dissolving it in water and injecting it into basalt rocks pulls out of its plan to set up operations in the town of Hafnarfjöður due to protest by the locals.✨ The landowners at Sólheimasandur in South Iceland have recently bough and old Douglas Dakota DC-3 WW2 era airplane. Why? Because an old wreck of such a plane in the area has in recent years become a tourist attraction, but due to wear and tear needs, in the opinion of the landowners, to be replaced. ✨ We also talk about a tiny protest outside Iceland's only Tesla dealership over the weekend and arrests made due to violent crime in downtown Reykjavík, which seems to be related to organised crime.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SHOW SUPPORTSupport the Grapevine's reporting by becoming a member of our High Five Club: https://steadyhq.com/en/rvkgrapevine/You can also support the Grapevine by shopping in our online store: https://shop.grapevine.is------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is a Reykjavík Grapevine podcast. The Reykjavík Grapevine is a free alternative magazine in English published 18 times per year, biweekly during the spring and summer, and monthly during the autumn and winter. Risastór bókagjöf enskrar merkiskonu, May Morris, virðist hafa horfið sporlaust - utan einnar bókar sem Brynjar Karl Óttarsson, sögukennari við Menntaskólann á Akureyri er nokkuð viss um að hafi tilheyrt henni. Hann rannsakar gamlar bækur og skjöl í kjallara Amtsbókasafnsins á Akureyri og hirslum Menntaskólans - og tímafrek yfirlegan hefur skilað nokkrum forvitnilegum uppgötvunum. Við ræðum við Brynjar Karl. Í síðustu viku gekk aftakaveður yfir landið, veður sem kallaði á alls kyns ráðstafanir, meðal annars í innbænum á Akureyri. Á fimmtudaginn var óð ég yfir stórfljót til að hitta Rögnu Gestsdóttur, starfsmann Minjasafns Akureyrar í iðnaðarsafninu á Krókeyri, sem var nær umflotið. Nú er farið að huga í auknum mæli að áhrifum náttúruhamfara á söfn - og söfn farin að gera ýmsar viðbragðsáætlanir og meta áhættu ekki síst eftir að Tækniminjasafn Austurlands eyðilagðist í skriðuföllum á Seyðisfirði árið 2020. Og við höldum okkur við veðurofsann því Helga Lára Þorsteinsdóttir, safnstjóri Rúv, ætlar að rifja upp Fárviðrið svokallaða sem gekk yfir höfuðborgarsvæðið árið 1981. Tónlist í þættinum: Breabach - Bha Mis Raoir air an arligh. Guðmundur Pétursson Tónlistarm. - Samfélagið Millistef (úr laginu Tegund).
Jennifer Sey, founder of the startup sportswear brand XX-XY Athletics and former U.S. gymnast, joined The Guy Benson Show to discuss her company's latest viral ad promoting women's empowerment in sports against transgender athletes. She shared why JK Rowling's public support for the ad and her brand is so meaningful to her company and the women in sports movement as a whole. Sey and Benson also weighed in on Trump's early executive orders aimed at advancing women's rights, and Sey criticized California's Democratic leadership, arguing that both Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass bear responsibility for LA's devastating wildfires. Jimmy and Sey, a former top ranked gymast, open the conversation by discussing the dramatic change that has come over female gymnasts' physiques in the past 50 years. Plus featuring segments on the Justice Department's recent successful antitrust lawsuit against Google and the Olympics controversy over Algerian boxer Imane Khelif. Also featuring Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. Plus a phone call from Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer!

Thoroughly Equipped Season 3 Episode 2 An interesting spat occurred on X about a month ago over a post by Samuel Sey who stated that he had to discipline his 4 month old son. The majority of responses accused Mr. Sey of mistreatment of his son. This made me wonder about what Christians have been taught over the last couple of decades about what discipline is. Li ban nou tout kalite benediksyon pou nou ka viv dapre egzijans Lespri Bondye nan syèl la. 4 Byen lontan anvan Bondye te kreye lemonn, li te chwazi nou nan Kris la pou nou te kapab viv apa pou li, pou n' te san repwòch devan li. Nan renmen li renmen nou an, 5 Bondye te deside depi davans pou l' te adopte nou pou pitit li nan Jezikri, paske sa te fè l' plezi. 6 Se poutèt sa, ann toujou fè lwanj Bondye pou bèl favè sa a li fè nou kado, gremesi Pitit li renmen anpil la! 7 Gremesi Kris ki mouri pou nou an, nou delivre, nou resevwa padon pou peche nou yo; Bondye fè nou wè jan li renmen nou anpil. 8 Li ban nou favè l' an kantite, li ban nou tout kalite konprann ak konesans. 9 Li fè nou konnen plan travay li te kenbe sekrè nan kè l', plan travay li te gen lide fè depi lontan an. Se plan sa a li vin reyalize nan Kris la. 10 Dapre plan travay Bondye a, plan ki gen pou fin reyalize nèt lè lè a va rive, Bondye ap mete tout bagay ki nan syèl la ansanm ak tout bagay ki sou latè a anba yon sèl chèf, anba Kris la. 11 Bondye ap fè tout bagay rive jan l' te deside l' la ak jan l' te vle l' la. Konsa, nou menm jwif, nou se moun Bondye te chwazi depi davans dapre plan li. Lè n'ap viv ansanm nan Kris la, nou resevwa pòsyon pa nou nan byen l' yo. 12 Se sak fè, nou menm ki premye moun ki t'ap tann Kris la, n'ap viv yon jan ki sèvi yon lwanj pou pouvwa Bondye a. 13 Konsa tou, nou menm, moun lòt nasyon yo, apre nou te fin tande mesaj laverite a, ki vle di bon nouvèl k'ap fè nou konnen jan Bondye delivre nou an, nou te mete konfyans nou nan Kris la, n'ap viv ansanm nan Kris la tou. Bondye te make nou ak letanp li tou, li ban nou Sentespri li te pwòmèt la. 14 Sentespri sa a, se yon avalwa Bondye ban nou sou eritaj li te pwòmèt li t'ap bay pèp li a. Sa ban nou garanti Bondye gen pou fin delivre moun pa l' yo nèt. Se sak fè, nou menm tou, moun lòt nasyon yo, n'ap sèvi yon lwanj pou pouvwa Bondye a tou. 15 Se poutèt tout bagay sa yo, depi mwen tande jan nou gen konfyans nan Kris la, jan nou renmen tout moun ki fè pati pèp Bondye a, 16 mwen pa janm sispann di Bondye mèsi pou nou. Mwen toujou chonje nou lè m'ap lapriyè. 17 Bondye Jezikri, Seyè nou an, fè nou konnen an, se yon papa ki gen anpil pouvwa. Mwen mande l' pou li ban nou Sentespri l' ki bay bon konprann ki moutre nou sa Bondye ap devwale nou an pou nou ka rive konnen l' byen. 18 Mwen mande l' pou l' louvri lespri nou, pou nou ka konnen kisa n'ap tann nan men Bondye ki rele nou an, ki vle di eritaj Bondye pwòmèt l'ap bay moun ki pou li yo, yon eritaj ki rich anpil, ki bèl anpil. Kris la pi wo pase tout gwo non yo kapab bay moun non sèlman koulye a sou latè, men nan tan ki gen pou vini an tou. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/haitianhelpinghands/support
World-class gymnast, author, filmmaker, and next-in-line to become CEO of Levi Strauss, Jennifer Sey talks pandemic-era school lockdowns and the backlash she received for speaking out against the school shutdowns with Bill Walton. Jennifer was a seven-time member of the U.S. Women's National Gymnastics Team and the 1986 U.S. Women's All-Around National Champion. Her transition from the world of sports to the corporate arena saw her rise to a pivotal leadership role at Levi Strauss, contributing significantly to its resurgence. Along the way, she produced a documentary “Athlete A” and wrote a book “Chalked up” exposing the abuse of children and young women gymnasts that spurred radical change in the sport. Sey was ostracized in deep blue San Francisco for publicly opposing the closures of schools during the COVID-19 pandemic. She felt compelled to speak out for the children whose development and education were detrimentally affected by the isolation of virtual school. Levi Strauss top management and the board told her to shut up or leave. So she left. “I think what people failed to predict, which I saw from the beginning, societally, we sent children the message that their education was not a priority, that they were not a priority, and in fact, if they missed things like having friends and an everyday life and key milestones, like graduations and football games, they were selfish, horrible people. Imagine what that does to a child's psyche. So, now, the depression, the anxiety persists, not surprisingly, and we're seeing record high levels of absenteeism,” Sey said. She is now determined to make these effects clear to the American public with a documentary film titled Generation COVID. The documentary will highlight the stories of ten different families and the struggles of their children in the post-pandemic education environment. The damage to be wreaked upon children by school closures was abundantly clear to many of us at the time. “But the mainstream outlets like the New York Times vilified any dissenters,” reminds Jennifer. “Even renowned doctors, people like Dr. Jay Bhattacharya from Stanford, Martin Kulldorff from Harvard, Sunetra Gupta from Oxford. These are not fringe scientists or fringe epidemiologists, but they were shunned and delegitimized by the mainstream press.” Yet seemingly forgetting the principal role it played in keeping the lockdowns in place, we now read this from the New York Times: “The evidence is now in, and it is startling,” it exclaims. “The school closures that took 50 million children out of classrooms at the start of the pandemic may prove to be the most damaging disruption in the history of American education.” There's a lot to be answered for here, starting with the amnesiac NYT. This episode is more than just a conversation; it is a call to arms.
Jennifer Sey spent over 20 years at iconic clothing brand Levi's, rising from Chief Marketing Officer to Brand President. But when she fought against school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic, she says the CEO told her “there's just not a path for you here.” She resigned and was reportedly offered a $1 million exit package – presumably to buy her silence with an NDA – but turned it down so she could continue fighting for children's education. Now, three years later, the New York Times has confirmed Jennifer Sey's fears: the “startling evidence on learning loss is in” and pandemic school closures were a disaster for American children. “More than 3 years too late, the New York Times has now given permission to acknowledge what was obvious from the beginning,” writes Jennifer Sey. “But if you dared to say so in 2020, or 2021, or even 2022, you were smeared with all sorts of career-ending ad hominem attacks.” Jennifer Sey is an author, filmmaker, business executive and retired artistic gymnast. Sey began working at Levi Strauss & Co. in 1999, rising to Chief Marketing Officer and then Global Brand President. With a one-minute look at culture from a Christian worldview, I'm John Stonestreet with The Point. Recently, Christian writer Samuel Sey tweeted, “The question isn't: ‘does God exist?' The question is: ‘how could anything exist without God?'” Or, as Fraulein Maria sang in The Sound of Music, “Nothing comes from nothing, nothing ever could.” Not only is there something (lots of them) in this world, but there is also consciousness, creativity, beauty, love, and order. These things say an awful lot about what kind of First Cause is required to bring all these somethings into existence. One Twitter user pushed back against Sey arguing that a more important question is, “What kind of people should we be?” Sey responded, “It's impossible to know what kind of people we should be without affirming who our [C]reator is.” God, in particular the Christian God, is the best explanation for the world we experience. As C.S. Lewis put it, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the Sun has risen, not only because I see it but because by it, I see everything else.” For the Colson Center, I'm John Stonestreet.

Jennifer Sey was one of the most successful women in corporate America. The Levi's Brand President was on track for CEO, but this San Francisco liberal was forced out of her job for daring to question COVID lockdowns and school closures on her social media. Soon she was a pariah. Sey gave up a million dollar payout with an NDA to tell her story to the world. To tell the truth. Don't miss this confounding and inspiring story as Jennifer joins the show to discuss her book ‘Levi's Unbuttoned'https://www.amazon.com/Levis-Unbuttoned-Woke-Took-Voice/dp/1958682241/ref=sr_1_1?crid=131D5F2PXT06Q&keywords=levis+unbuttoned+in+books&qid=1673588548&sprefix=levis+unb%2Caps%2C307&sr=8-1
Stigall is away but if you haven't heard some of the great conversations coming your way - they're all new to you! Be sure to follow him for updates and any breaking news at The Harrumph Society. Jennifer Sey is the former brand president at Levis. Headquartered in the most liberal city in America, San Fransisco is where Jennifer called home and sent her kids to public school. A committed liberal Democrat, when Sey became a vocal critic of school lockdowns during COVID - her company turned on her and attempted to buy her off with a million dollar payoff. She refused, moved to Colorado and wrote her story "Levi's Unbottoned."
Jennifer Sey was a high-powered executive at the Levi's corporation with an inside track to become the company's next CEO. Then the pandemic hit and Sey spoke out against extended school closings. As she became a more prominent spokesperson for the science that suggested kids should be back in schools, she increasingly came under fire from others inside the “progressive” Levi's corporation and was told she needed to quell her activism. When she refused she was given the opportunity to take a big payday to leave and keep her mouth shut, but she refused. Jimmy talks with Sey about her experience inside what she describes as a corporate “cult” where anyone expressing even the slightest deviation from the accepted narrative about COVID was sharply rejected and marginalized. Plus a segment on the out-of-control Pentagon spending approved by both parties. Also featuring Stef Zamorano, Kurt Metzger and Mike MacRae! And phone calls from Joe Biden and Vince Vaughn!
Jennifer Sey was on track to become the first woman CEO of Levi Strauss & Co. As the President of the Levi's brand, she was widely celebrated as a versatile and inspirational leader who had helped save the iconic brand from bankruptcy. Formerly a self-described "left of left of center" progressive, she was beloved as the embodiment of the company's "profits through principles" ethos. But everything changed when Sey publicly opposed the closure of San Francisco's public schools at the height of the pandemic. In response to her 'wrong think, ' management gave her a choice: shut up or leave. She decided that defending children was more important than the job that she loved, and so she resigned. After more than two decades at the company, she gave up her professional future to tell the truth. Sey reveals to Savage how corporations use progressive messaging to hide their true motive: earning profits. Sey shares how the woke mob took her job, but helped her find her voice.
