Growing up wanting to be in the girl band, Bewitched, she drew inspiration from the American Comic Con scene. Her music is a mix between bright pop with 90s punk rock and is inspired by Comic Con, Dr. Who, Lego and more. She writes, records, self publishes, and performs everything on her own and has even made music for video games. Which phrase is more appealing to you? At Dragon Con, Mikey Mason and I were talking about this branding topic. He calls his music Geek Comedy Rock. I call mine Celtic Geek. We obviously prefer the term Geek music over Nerd music. But the NerdCore genre has Nerd Music taking off around the country. Would it be better to use "Nerd music"?  Whether it's called Nerd or Geek, it's all great fun. Music from Marc Gunn, Tom Smith, Rambling Sailors, Bill & Brenda Sutton, Brobdingnagian Bards, The Blibbering Humdingers, Aurelio Voltaire, Mikey Mason, Devo Spice.   Pub Talk Now September 22nd is Hobbit Day, and I'm planning a Hobbit Drinking Songs on Concert Window. It's a free concert you can watch anywhere in the world. What struck me about Hobbit Day is that September seems to be Celtic Geek month. Septmber 17th is Halfway to St. Patrick's Day. September 19th is Talk Like a Pirate Day. September 22nd is Hobbit Day. Actually September 17-24th is Tolkien Week. So there's a lot of geekiness to celebrate this month. That said, I am hoping to get 100 people to say they are interested in attending my Hobbit Drinking Songs show on Facebook Event page. So if you're interested, please let me know. Then share the event page and the video so others might know about the big day. My former bandmate, Andrew McKee, finally has a mailing list. Head to his website at andrewmckee.com to subscribe and find out about his new album. If you want to get an early copy, you can also pickup the all new Ludicrous Drive of the Brobdingnagian Bards. It features all 13 of our albums, plus, videos and some live concerts, all in a spiffy, laser-engraved, wooden USB drive. Kilted Kings launched our Kickstarter for "Name On My Soul". We hit our initial goal. We're just $204 away from our stretch goal. Check out The Celtfather podcast if you want to find out more about the songs on the album. Will you help? I want to thank all of my patrons. Inspired by the growing success of my fan club, I setup my first Milestone in over a year. It's a 30 minute morning concert on Facebook Live with songs picked by patrons. It costs as little as $1 per month to become a patron, and you'll get bonus blogs, podcasts, videos and more. A big thanks to our newest patrons: Scot Mealy, Blair Holley, Kerry Komai, David C. Newport, Russell Thornes, Scott & Melanie Wienhusen, Beth Copenhaver. Become a Patron Today. Every other week, The Nerdy Show Network‘s flagship podcast pours over the latest geek news and happenings! Join us as we hang out with some of the most artful purveyors of Nerd Music on the scene: Chamber Band! You may remember when we spoke to them about their debut record Deities, or perhaps when they made it into the upper echelon of our Top 20 Nerdy Things of 2013. These rockers, who stole our hearts with their emotionally upending songs from the world of Dungeons & Dragons, have returned to conquer a whole new corner of the nerd kingdom: The Hunger Games. But, like their former record, this new album doesn't require fandom to be a fan - these nerdy nuances highlight bigger themes that anyone can connect with. Join Cap and Nerdy.FM station manager Lauren Furze (aka TheFifthSister) as they're joined by Ellen, Chris, A. Sarr, and Sam of Chamber Band for a journey into this new record: Careers. This episode journeys through the record with background on each track, songwriting stories, and tales from the road. Cap has zero Hunger Games experience, so Lauren and Chamber Band light the way - sharing how they got into the series, what they connected with, and what made it into the album. This interview first appeared as a Nerdy.FM album-release listening party - October 5th, 2015.
