The Metal Hammer of Doom is back in your life, this time examining the Ned Flanders inspired metal band Okilly Dokilly. Joining Mark will be Jesse Starcher and Simpsons superfan Robert Winfree Okilly Dokilly was an American metalcore band from Phoenix, Arizona, that played "Nedal" music; a subgenre of metal music themed around the animated character Ned Flanders from the television series The Simpsons. All band members performed dressed as Flanders, and the majority of the lyrics to their songs are quotes of his.The band members go by the pseudonyms: Head Ned, Shred Ned, Zed Ned, Dread Ned and Bed Ned. The unusual concept behind the group has resulted in worldwide attention. The lead singer, Head Ned, said that Nedal music is "Not as fast as Bartcore, and a little cleaner than Krusty Punk", references to hardcore punk and crust punk, respectively.Howdilly Doodilly is the first studio album by Phoenix-based, Ned Flanders-themed metalcore band Okilly Dokilly, released on November 11, 2016. According to the band, the lyrics contain "75% Ned quotes and 25% other characters/original."[4] The album was recorded and mixed by Jalipaz Nelson at Audioconfusion in Mesa, Arizona in early 2016.The single "White Wine Spritzer" was released prior to the album on October 30, 2016, with a music video on November 6.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network. Artist Sam Grinberg started interning with The Simpsons in 2014. It turned into an actual job shortly after--a dream job! He joins us today to discuss the popular show, its possible ska connections and his own history with the genre. He's got a lot of history with ska. Sam grew up in New Jersey and used to go see tons of bands like Streetlight Manifesto and local legends Awful Waffle. He even drops some super obscure local ska band names on us like Stolen Oregano, Explosive Sheep, and The Nerd Who Ate St. Louis. Sam has also done a lot of artwork for ska bands. A short list includes Catbite, Kill Lincoln, Less Than Jake, Save Ferris, The Holophonics, the Too Hectic comps on Pay Attention Records (By Phil Lucas-Smith of Ska Punk Daily) and more. (He even did art for the Hella Mega Tour, which featured Fall Out Boy). Plus Sam talks about his other artwork like the Scumburbia series and his infamous "How To Skank" comic. We also learn how Sam got a job at The Simpsons, how he defines his art style, and how many tattoos people have gotten of his artwork. He talks about seeing Fatter Than Albert, Bomb The Music Industry and going to many shows at The Starland Ballroom and the Stone Pony. Plus he talks about going to the "It's a Ska World After All" at Disneyland. And we learn that one of his art teachers was Gary Panter, who created the characters for Pee Wee's Playhouse. And we discuss ska bands with Simpsons references and the ultimate Simpsons-themed metal-core band: Okilly Dokilly. A jam-packed episode! Support the show

Okilly Dokilly is the world's only Nedal band. Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, a majority of the band's lyrics are direct Ned quotes. The band's current members include Head Ned (vocals), Dread Ned (drums), Shred Ned (guitar), Bed Ned (bass) and Zed Ned (synth). Established in 2015 with original members Head Ned, Red Ned, Bled Ned, Stead Ned and Thread Ned, the band found success before ever playing their first show, becoming a viral phenomenon after releasing just a few press photos and a 4-song demo. Within 2 weeks, the band had nearly 30,000 Facebook fans and was featured by numerous publications including Billboard, Time, The Independent, BBC, Esquire, Vice and many more. In November of 2016 the band released their debut album, 'Howdilly Doodilly', a 13-track catalog filled with Flanderisms, rushing guitars and more than enough left-handed puns. A music video for the lead single, “White Wine Spritzer” was also released in November of 2016 and has since amassed over 5 million views on youtube. The video eventually caught the eye of the folks over at The Simpsons who, in April of 2019, ran the video during the end credits of a Season 30 episode. Following the departure of bassist Thread Ned and guitarist Stead Ned for left hand conversion therapy, the band acquired guitarist Dead Ned and bassist Cred Ned. In 2017, the band took on a relentless touring schedule across the US and North America, playing nearly 100 shows over the course of a year. Following a short hiatus through 2017 and early 2018, the band regrouped in July of 2018 with a brand new lineup, introducing Shred Ned on guitar, Dread Ned on drums and Zed Ned on synth. In October 2018, the band added bassist Bed Ned and embarked on their first overseas tour with a full UK run. Okilly Dokilly released their sophomore album, Howdilly Twodilly in March of 2019 and has been touring on the new record since. Okilly Dokilly's live shows are high energy affairs that weave together comedy and brutality. Guttural screams and pounding drums provide a soundtrack for the pummeling of an inflatable donut as green sweaters and round glasses blur across the stage. The brand new memoir from James Acaster: cult comedian, bestselling author of Classic Scrapes, undercover cop, receiver of cabbages. PERFECT SOUND WHATEVER is a love letter to the healing power of music, and how one man's obsessive quest saw him defeat the bullshit of one year with the beauty of another. Because that one man is James Acaster, it also includes tales of befouling himself in a Los Angeles steakhouse, stealing a cookie from Clint Eastwood, and giving drunk, unsolicited pep talks to urinating strangers. January, 2017 James Acaster wakes up heartbroken and alone in New York, his relationship over, a day of disastrous meetings leading him to wonder if comedy is really what he wants to be doing any more. A constant comfort in James's life has been music, but he's not listened to anything new for a very long time. Idly browsing 'best of the year' lists, it dawns on him that 2016 may have been a grim year for a lot of reasons, but that it seemed to be an iconic year for music. And so begins a life-changing musical odyssey, as James finds himself desperately seeking solace in the music of 2016, setting himself the task of only listening to music released that year, ending up with 500 albums in his collection. Looking back on this year-long obsession, parallels begin to grow between the music and James's own life: his relationship history, the highs and lows of human connection, residual Christian guilt, and mental health issues that have been bubbling under the surface for years. Some albums are life-changing masterpieces, others are 'Howdilly Doodilly' by Okilly Dokilly, a metalcore album devoted to The Simpsons' character Ned Flanders, but all of them play a part the year that helped James Acaster get his life back on track.
Head Ned is the lead of a 'Nedal' band, he founded in 2015. They are a Ned Flanders based metal band out of Phoenix AZ. OD just finished up touring Australia, and are now planning a US tour. Before we get going on your second pod of the week here is a fair warning. Matt and Mike really and I mean really get going on this pod. They chatted it up big time! If this annoys you then scroll down to our ratings and just skip this pod. Today the guys talk about a biopic based on the Texas Rangers who hunted down Bonnie and Clyde, the Netflix Original The Highwaymen. Just a few of the off topics today include Okilly Dokilly, high school, tattoos, and the many new streaming services. The Highwaymen is an incredible film. The story is amazing and is one that is rarely ever told. The writing, direction, and of course that acting are fantastic as well. This film is the complete package with a great cast, beautiful sets, and shot extremely well. Basically if you have Netflix and have not watched this movie yet you are really doing yourself a disservice. Mike really enjoyed The Highwaymen and gives it 4 out of 5 Reels. Matt could not get enough of this movie. He is a giant history buff and film nerd to boot so of course he thought The Highwaymen was incredible. He gives it 4.5 out of 5 Reels. It’s a special 90 minutes of manic musical pandemonium as we celebrate four of our favorite oddly offbeat and brutally bizarre bands this week on Musical Osmosis! So join Saucey and Odell as we chat with the manager of Mac Sabbath- Mike Odd, Mickey from Cowabunga Pizza Time, Head Ned from Okilly Dokilly and Abby the Spoon Lady to find out what makes these peculiar performers tick. It’s a conversational calamity of prosperous proportions and you’re invited- so spike that Kool Aid and get ready to go down the rabbit hole with your pals from Tin Can.
Oh no, Nick couldn't make it out to do our GODFATHER episode! You know what that means? Replace one Nick with another! Today I sit down with my former No Homer's Podcast host and friend Niko Aldrich! On today’s episode we’ll be discussing SLAUGHTER HIGH from 1986 Directed by the trio of Mark Ezra, George Dugdale and Peter Litten, SLAUGHTER HIGH is a highly regarded slasher film with a big cult following. The movie is about a school prank gone awry. The sexy Carol (Caroline Munro) convinces the nerdy Marty (Simon Scuddamore) into the girl’s locker room for a little wet n wild fun. Well, it’s all a ruse as once Marty is naked, Carol’s gaggle of friends torture the young guy with some terrible pranks. He’s slightly electrocuted, recorded, and given a swirly to top it all off. After the school coach comes in and sees what they’ve done, the entire group is given detention… which they blame on Marty. They plan another prank on the unsuspecting Marty which leads to a bad chemical fire and Marty being trapped and burned alive. The group all recover (because why wouldn’t they?) and they’re all getting ready for their school reunion. However, once they all get to their old school they’ve noticed that the school is locked up and they were the only ones invited. SLAUGHTER HIGH is a joint American/English production and doesn’t have any discernible stars, save from horror icon Caroline Munro. As stated, the film has a massive cult following and it being unavailable in a good form for so long only fueled the fire the fans had for it. Also on this episode Michael gives a mini review of the Vinegar Syndrome release of Norman J.
