Episode 124 - The Keys to taking your health and fitness into your own hands, and live life on your terms w/ Scott Freidman Scott's Biggest belief: “I believe in deliberate action, hard work, and pushing oneself. If you want to do something – then do it. If that doesn't work – then do something else. The only failure is when you give up on what you want to do.” Scott was born just outside Chicago in Park Ridge, IL. and grew up in the Northwest Suburbs outside of Chicago…but for the sake of simplicity, I am from Chicago (sorry Chicagoan's who get mad about that). He earned a B.S in Kinesiology, and a minor (whatever that means) in coaching from Northern Illinois University (NIU). Go Huskies! I earned my Master's in Sport Administration from Northwestern University. What I do is coach, to help break nutrition and fitness down to the very core. Need help losing weight? No problem. Need help making a routine? I have you covered. Want to build muscle? We can definitely do that. Need someone to inspire your co-workers, sign me up! What I won't do is allow people to make excuses for not being where they want to be, showing them, they can do what they desire if they put in the proper work and prioritize what is important. I show people the simple steps, I show people it is possible, and people can achieve your goals. The Battle Warrior Podcast brings a high energy show that promotes the FEAR THE WARRIOR mentality. Anya Rivtis, Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty, sits down with us on this episode of the Real Estate Moguls Podcast. Born in the Ukraine, Anya immigrated to Chicago with her family when she was about eight-years-old. Though she grew up in the Northwest Suburbs, the city was always calling her name. After school, Anya got her start in the mortgage business starting off as an assistant helping with both pre- and post-closings. Eventually she worked her way up to become a partner of her own firm in Rosemont. Then the market crash of 2008 happened. “From there on out, I worked a lot of sales and event management type of jobs and ended up working at Macon Construction for President and Senior Vice President of the company. It was wonderful. I worked on projects like the Hayden out in the West Loop and did a lot of community meetings and met with aldermen. It still wasn't exactly where I needed to be. And I felt that I needed to spread my wings and fly a little bit more. I decided that Real Estate was a passion.”Anya talks about how the biggest draw going into Real Estate was the opportunity to be her own boss and be in control. A goal of hers has always been to have a career where she doens't have to sit in an office. She says most people like to talk about the freedom and flexibility Real Estate offers and while that's true, “in order to succeed and in order to grow, you have to put in 200% at a time to grow that business.” Having the mortgage foundation in her career gave her the financial background to truly help her clients make the right decisions and understand what it takes to really buy a home.“I always like to educate my clients as best as I can, but also for me, being a realtor it's not just opening a door, it's allowing someone to create a home.”Anya goes on to discuss the trends she's seen in the market as a result of the pandemic. She mentions that while in general, not much has changed in terms of their desire to own a home, the pandemic has certainly changed “how people look at homes, look at space, look at what their needs are.” For her, at the end of the day, it's about making a personal connection with her clients and helping them find the place they could raise their kids in, have parties and entertain in, a place where “they can grow as individuals.”“When you walk into a home with your client and you see their eyes start to sparkle and that little smile comes out and you're like, this is it, we found the right one. We've hit the jackpot here.” Tune in to this episode of the Real Estate Moguls Podcast to hear more about Anya's story, her passion behind Real Estate, and more.

Chicagoland is an enormous market with a ton of sub markets. Anthony Citriglia of Essex Realty’s submarket covers many of the near north and near northwest suburbs and he breaks down exactly what those markets are like; how they differ from Chicago; and how they differ from each other. Following the post-war boom, cheaper access to cars, and the development of several Metra lines, the 50s-80s were filled with tons of development, mostly still currently owned by mom & pop landlords. Find out what it takes to succeed in these markets as Anthony drops street-level knowledge including typical price-per door, dividing lines where this pricing adjusts, tenant expectations, and the physical housing stock. “Let’s forget nation-state politics until we can engage practically the injustices going on in our towns and villages in which we live.” David Fitch is the B. R. Lindner Chair of Evangelical Theology at Northern Seminary in Chicago. He is also the founding pastor of Life on the Vine Christian Community- a missional church in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. Many of you may know Fitch as a leading voice in conversations about culture and missiology. You can find more about him on his website reclaimingthemission.com and this podcast Theology on Mission. We find ourselves in a precarious and liminal time. And many of us grieve our angry culture that seems obsessed with antagonism. In his book the Church of Us vs Them, Fitch contends that the Church has been swept up in this Us-vs-them mentality that has turned us into an ‘enemy-making machine. This episode expolores how we got here and how we can free ourselves from a faith that feeds on division. And because this episode is about handling antagonisms, I take the opportunity to throw Fitch a few hand grenade questions! So stay tuned and see how he handles them! “When we extract belief out of practicing it in our everyday lives, it turns into a banner, an ideological cause that we rally people around. And we lose sight that God actually wants to work into our lives - transforming our lives into a way of life that witnesses the kingdom before the world.”

Schaumburg has a lot to offer its community. Not only is the Woodfield Mall a staple of the community, but it has more square feet of industrial space than retail or office. The village is also equipped with a hotel, convention center, airport and professional ballpark! Schaumburg understands the importance of having a plethora of retailers and restaurants available to community members, but Kevin’s department truly focuses on recruiting industrial and office users to the community. This allows for a large employment base and for Schaumburg to retain its reputation as a great place to do business. In order to keep the community informed, Kevin’s department sends out information via e-newsletters and social media alike. The Schaumburg Business Association is also an ally in supporting local businesses. Those who are looking for an area to do business in should know that in Schaumburg, municipal staff is incredibly supportive of the business community and actively seeks ways that it can further improve to help business thrive.

Justin and Joy sit down with Daffany Clark to discuss her unique upbringing in Chicago, dating in Los Angeles, and the importance of having a father figure in your life. Elevator Pitch Daffany’s unique childhood experience in Chicago and unpacking her biracial identity at an early age. Her journey reconciling with her biological father. How Daffany’s one woman show, Pieces, is helping her heal with the past. The effect growing up without a father has created within her own personal relationships. The downside of overextending too much for friends. Dating in Los Angeles and the visible lack of courting. Loyalty and Respect: Men want it, but don’t give it. Why? Fish Bowl: What stands between you and complete happiness? What would you change if you were never going to die? What big lesson can people learn from your life? And much more! More About Daffany Born and raised in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, Daffany Clark knew from an early age that she wanted to be an actress. As a Columbia College graduate, Clark came to Los Angeles in 2009 and managed to move quickly from LA transplant to working actress. Clark trained under the tutelage of Choice Skinner at the Breakin Through Acting Workshop before landing her first recurring guest star role on The Fosters as "Daphne" in 2012. The role was originally set for the pilot episode, but Clark quickly became a fan favorite and was brought back time and time again during seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4. Daffany can also be seen in the feature film Wingman Inc. directed by Choice Skinner and will be co-starring in the upcoming movie 5150 written by Vanessa Giordano and directed by Michael Cory Davis. In addition Daffany just starred in two short films; Astraddle directed by Andre Strong and For The Family written and directed by Randy Ranz. Most recently Daffany booked a co-star role with the incomparable John Singleton on his new BET show Rebel and a supporting role in the film Bodied directed by Joseph Kahn. Daffany is currently producing, writing and starring in her own One Woman Show. Pieces tells the intricate story of one woman's past, comprised of family mental illness, abandonment, foster care and deep psychological scars forcing her to overcome her struggles and find her purpose in life.
