The panel, featuring Chris Wark, Alison Tierney, MS, RD, CD, CSO, and Donald Abrams M.D., addressed the concerning gap in nutritional education within the medical community, particularly for oncologists. The discussion revealed the alarming fact that only about 25% of medical schools offer even one course in nutrition. The experts emphasized the vital role that nutrition plays in patient care, particularly in cancer treatment, and the pressing need for medical professionals to be better educated in this area. They also stressed the importance of patients advocating for themselves, seeking comprehensive care, and challenging the status quo to ensure they receive holistic health advice. As more patients demand nutritional guidance, the hope is that the medical community will evolve to prioritize and value this crucial aspect of care. #NutritionMatters #MedicalEducationGap #HolisticHealthCare.

We so often hear about how bacon is delicious but dangerous, and should be eaten in moderation because it is "unhealthy." But is it really?  Bacon has the ability to increase your Vitamin D levels, improve fatty acid profile, help your body detox, stabilize blood sugar, and even reduce some other symptoms including anxiety and mood swings. And let's be honest, bacon’s salt and savory sweetness make it a delicious treat (that you don't have to feel guilty about eating any more!) Join me as I chat with "Naughty Nutritionist" Dr. Kaayla Daniel to talk about the little known health benefits of bacon including:  Why you should be cooking with Bacon fat How to cook and buy Bacon so that it is a healthy option Why Turkey Bacon is not a "healthier option"   We will be opening up the phone lines to your questions at the end of the show, so be sure to call in!

Do You Really Know how much Sugar You're Consuming? That Sugar Film says No...

Damon Gameau decided to try an experiment with sugar firsthand. He would spend 60 days on a high-sugar diet consuming 40 teaspoons of sugar a day - which is only marginally above the daily teenage average. There would be a twist, however. Unlike the average teenager, he would only eat perceived ‘healthy’ foods – foods generally believed to be low in or free from sugar. That meant NO soft drink, chocolate, ice-cream or confectionary. His diet was filled withlow-fat yoghurts, cereals, muesli bars, juices and sports drinks: all of which are full of ‘hidden sugar’. He was monitored by a team of doctors and scientist and he filmed the whole thing. This is not a film that insists people should quit sugar. This film is about bringing more awarenessa substance that now finds itself in around 80% of our processed foods. It's time to seriously question how it's affecting our bodies and the bodies of our children Join me as I air my behind-the-scenes interview with Damon Gameau, the director and writer of this film "That Sugar Film." I HIGHLY suggest checking it out if you have children, if you are looking to lose weight or if you are like me and are concerned about all the "stuff" we are putting in our bodies without even realizing it!

Here's the sad (and alarming) truth. Very, VERY few medical doctors are educated on proper nutrition. And very few people are either!  So it's no wonder that cancer, obesity, diabetes and chronic illnesses are on the rise. Despite the vague messages to "eat healthy" many people haven't been properly educated on what that even means! (And let's be honest, a lot of times convenience is ranked as more important than healthy meals).  I recently watched two powerful documentaries: Food Matters and Hungry for Change that interviewed leading experts in nutrition and natural healing who claim that not only are we harming our bodies with improper nutrition, but that the right kind of foods, supplements and detoxification can be used to treat chronic illnesses as fatal as terminally diagnosed cancer.   I've invited James Colquhoun, Director and Producer of both films on my radio show to chat about some of the most important topics today including:  How Fat-Free products cause serious health problemsIs there a connection between nutrition and serious illnesses such as cancer? The to the point, essential nutrition tips to keep in mind for long-term healthAnd more! If you are like most people and haven't been trained by a professional on the proper nutrition for your body and needs- this is a perfect place to start. Is nutritional supplementation really necessary? After all, this is the 21st century and we are the nation of plenty. In fact, with obesity at epidemic proportions, we seem to be a nation that is over-fed. If this is the case, do we really need to supplement? Jerry and JoAnn Aldrich will help us delve into this topic. Wellness consultants and Senior Key Coordinators with the number one natural nutrition company in the US, the Aldrich's participated in a Landmark Study conducted by the University of California, Berkley. They proved to be in excellent health with optimal levels of all biomarkers and have much to share regarding nutritional and lifestyle choices.
