We have heard so many cliche-phrases throughout the decades about the separation of Church and State that have sent mixed messages to the people of God about what they can and should say in regards to the government of our land. What exactly is the Church's role and responsibility when it comes to political issues? Today's guest Paul Abner helps the listener connect the dots and reclaim the rights of the 21st believer, whether parishioner or pastor.-------------------------------------------------------------------------Paul Abner is the founder of a coalition of faith-based leaders in the state of Oklahoma, an organization called Oklahoma Faith Leaders. OFL was launched in 2018 on the heels of his integral participation in the congressional campaigns, and ultimately election, of conservative leaders in the state of Oklahoma. His history of vocational ministry, with an emphasis on challenging and training students to live a life of sexual purity, has provided a rich network of faith leaders from six conservative religious denominations who unashamedly advocate for public policy that affects Oklahoma's faith community. Oklahoma Faith Leaders played a dominant role in the ending of legal abortion in Oklahoma, making the state the first state to do so. Paul's leadership provides platforms for conservative leaders to stand for Biblical principles, impacting the cities, counties, and ultimately state governances that make up the state of Oklahoma.--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Connect with today's guest, Paul Abner:FB: @okfaithleadersEmail: pawtw@sbcglobal.netWebsite: OklahomaFaithLeaders.comPhone: 405.740.0441Featured:Sanctuary Let's Retreats 2023 (Registration is NOW OPEN!)Sanctuary Book Club Q2 | Featured Book: Find Your People by Jennie AllenMany thanks to our host, Bridgette Tomlin, and engineer Lindsey Culp of LC Creative. It’s that time again - time to debrief the LFTN 2021 Workshop. Each year, we have a different experience. Each year, a different set of people. And each year, an unexpected lesson emerges when folks get together to share best practices, fun, and deep conversations. Unlike other years, we did not have the workshop centered around a build. No rocket mass heater was installed. No solar water heater. No aquaponics system. Instead, we narrowed down on an important theme: Thrive. And to thrive, we must invest. Invest our intelligence, invest our time, invest our focus, invest in our relationships, invest in our land. There was a mix between practical homesteading skills like making cheese, processing a pig, sharpening knives and developing important skills like structuring your business, integrating better finance tracking to optimize tax deductions, and learning about crypto currency. Taking responsibility for your health, whether it be learning the when and how of using a tourniquet, exploring herbal remedies, or getting your diet in line were all things that came up. Why is this related to thrive? Because so many of us want something different. We want to stand on our own two feet. To live as we want not as we are told. And many who embark on that journey to get more from their home or homestead end up with an expensive hobby that costs more than it brings in. So why not learn to have the best of both worlds? Why not analyze your expensive hobby and make it pay you, rather than cost you. Why not learn to see things as an investment, whether that be time, money or health that you are using and growing. Because at the end of the day, you have one life to live, so why not live it the way you want? In previous years, we have done a play by play, but this year is different. This year, many in our network stepped out of their comfort zone, first having the bravery to come to a strange homestead in Tennessee where they would find no one they have ever met, standing in front of the group and speaking, when they are shy about speaking, and even trying camping for the first time in order to be here. No worries - we never force anyone into any of these things, but it can be very hard for some to just show up at a big event with lots of people they never met. And to celebrate those who decided to make a change, to take control of their lives, and do something different, we will have an interview today from one of the participants who sent me a guest form right after she got home. Many of you have heard from Krystal Moralee on our Mewe group and she is not the sort of person who loves speaking in front of people. Yet she was so inspired after the LFTN event, that she agreed to hop on the podcast and give you the perspective of a first time attendee. I bring you Krystal - welcome to the show! Guest Bio Krystal Moralee is a writer in the small Michigan town where she grew up. She is passionate about the written word and enjoys adventuring in wild places with her two boys, photography, growing flowers, raising chickens and putting holes in things at the gun range. How did you first find this podcast? What made you finally decide to take the leap and attend an LFTN workshop? What were your expectations heading into the workshop once you committed to attend? Were your expectations met? Was there anything unexpected? Which parts of the workshop did you get the most value from? O desenvolvimento e o crescimento econômico são mantras do nosso tempo. There is a point where you need to stop being abstract and start demonstrating what you are talking about, so I thought this was a good opportunity to put some things into practice by creating an image. Canadian labour leader Sid Ryan discusses his new book, part autobiography, and part prescription for social movements and Labour. Sid recounts his early life, and how it developed his capacity to resist inequality and oppression. These lessons would serve him well as President of CUPE and the OFL. Fraught by divisions in Labour and the lack of synergy with the NDP, Sid calls for a social vision of unionism in Canada that melds struggles of class and anti-oppression into a cohesive programme against neo-liberalism.

Hvað er að gerast Í New York um helgina. Freyr Eyjólfsson sendi okkur póstkort frá New York.

It seems pretty rich that the very group attacking a Canadian Franchise ALSO once found itself cutting benefits and laying off staff when their bottom line called for it. The Ontario federation of labour is leading a charge against Tim Hortons organizing rallies at locations across the Province. Today it was a handful, but they threaten this is only the start. Attacking an individual Canadian franchise, that is controlled by its Brazilian owner, is hardly fair, but to attack random locations, many that have done nothing wrong, is reckless and will hurt the very people they say they are trying to protect. A couple, maybe a handful of Timmie's franchises cut breaks and benefits. Not all. And they did that because THEIR corporate boss in Brazil wouldn't' allow THEM to raise prices to make up for losses due to Kathleen Wynne's surprise Min wage hike. They broke no labour laws, and are fully within their rights to protect their business. SO punishing all not only shows ignorance, but it makes no sense. Your battle is with a company in Brazil. I'm not here to re-litigate the issue. What a couple of Tim Horton Franchises did, is well known. I will however point out the raging hypocrisy of the OFL. Where was the outrage 4 yrs ago, when a forensic audit revealed they were millions in debt and forced to scale back employee benefits, vacation pay and cut staff?? Any protests then?? Nope. Seems when the work-boot is on the other foot rallies aren't required. In 2013, the OFL, was reportedly carrying massive operational deficits in the millions. The federation, which is an umbrella organization, to Ontario's largest labour unions, represents some 700 thousand workers. Dues were being paid by those workers and being swallowed up by growing debt. THAT hardly seems very fair. And not why a union worker pays dues. According to a forensic audit reported in the National Post, the OFL wasn't able to meet its pension obligations, running an operational deficit three times larger than its bottom line. So cuts had to be made to the 16 person staff. A union source tells me benefits were scaled back, vacation pay wasn't paid and as many as 5 senior staff were fired resulting in several large law suits. Did we see any outrage?? Boycott's?? No. The organization did what it had to do. Sell off assets. Reduce labour and operational costs and get its financial house in order. So- why, then is there no understanding from this group for the independent business owners across Ontario now facing a crippling hit to their bottom line? They also work hard? Put in long hours? Take risks? And I assure you none have a nice tax payer funded pension to fall back on Hey-Hey-Ho-Ho. OFL, your hypocrisy has got to go!
