Das trifft vor allem immer dann zu, wenn der Disney-Konzern sich eines eigentlich düsteren Märchens annimmt und dieses in ein zuckriges, ungenießbares Substrat verwandelt. Eines der besten Beispiele ist Dornröschen. Der Film basiert natürlich auf dem Märchen, in dem ein verheirateter König ein schlafendes Mädchen findet, das er nicht aufwecken kann und stattdessen vergewaltigt. Die 1940er Version von Pinocchio ist da keine Ausnahme. Der Film basiert auf einer Geschichte, die 1881 und 1882 von Carlo Collodi als Fortsetzungsgeschichte mit dem Titel Die Abenteuer des Pinocchio in einer Zeitung veröffentlicht wurde. Achteraf zegt Trump: ik heb me versproken. Ik zou zeggen: goedemorgen, Pinoccio. Poetins woordkeus is overigens fascinerend: de Russische staat weet van niets. Dat zou strikt genomen best eens kunnen, want er zijn goede aanwijzingen dat de ondermijning van de Amerikaanse verkiezingen, maar ook de gifgasaanval op een oud-spion in Engeland, het werk is van oud-KGB- en GRU-agenten, die formeel niet voor het Kremlin werken. Maar daar gaat de verontwaardiging niet over. Voor het oog en oor van de wereld, sprak Trump zijn eigen inlichtingendiensten tegen. Knuffeltje voor Vladimir, trap in het scrotum van de FBI-baas. Kaakslag voor de bondgenoten. Verontwaardiging, dus. Ja, NAVO-bondgenoten zijn wanhopig. Ja, de Democratische oppositie is in rep en roer. Ja, een aantal prominente Republikeinse partijgenoten van Trump is verbijsterd. Maar iedereen die Trump volgt, weet dat hij altijd in de eerste plaats praat tegen zijn eigen achterban. Hoewel Poetin als geen ander begrijpt hoe krachtig de steun onder de Trump-aanhang is.
