In this week’s conversation with Karen Clark Cole, Jay Goltz, and Stephanie Stuckey, we once again unearth more questions than answers—mostly because there are rarely one-size-fits-all answers to the questions we discuss. This week, those questions include: Can you be friends with your employees? Can you work with your family? How are you coping with price increases in your supply chain? How do you handle shipping—especially given the example set by Amazon? Are refrigerated trucks really called “reefer” trucks? And what happens when employees question whether you should be doing business with a particular person or company? Plus: Jay turns 65 without a succession plan.

We continued with our power panel as we talk about the influence coaches have to advocate for growth in their players global view and cultural awareness. We, again, welcomed Reggie Morris, Grandview (KC), Tony Irons, Vashon (STL), Justin Gerald, Hillcrest (SGF), Julia Wells, Drury University (SGF), Major Tad Peters, Springfield Police Department, Landon Cornish, Parkview (SGF), Kelsey Keizer, Southwest Baptist University (Bolivar). Our hope is to continue dialogue and look to the present and future on how we can make our attitudes and views better than the day before. We then played “out of the hat” with two veteran coaches, Jay Osbourne and Todd Mercer. They answered questions about dealing with playing time, social media in their programs, mentors and whatever else came out of the hat! My thanks to these two, they are a class act and are successful because they do things the right way! The Basement Boys return, and move further into the realm of all-things entertainment, with their latest interview... one steeped in the subject of science fiction. Jay speaks with Tennessee physicist Leah Broussard, who is preparing to open a doorway into a parallel -- or mirror -- universe. How? Why? What secrets does she hope to unlock? These are the questions Jay asks, and Leah answers. And yes: some Stranger Things references are made. Leah is one of us, and this is a fun, informative and entertaining conversation. It's also a sign of the times in The Basement, as we move away from -- but not completely out of -- the realm of movies and into the world of anything entertaining, and all the topics it offers up for discussion. But fear not, Jason and Shawn do talk movies, Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the new Zombieland trailer, to be specific. Plus Jay reviews Crawl and Shawn finally saw the end of Point Blank. There's also a discussion about back-to-back Halloween sequels. Throw in this morning's segment from the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show -- including its chickless fopaux -- and you've got yourself a podcast. One ripe for your ear holes, right now! We'll be back in two weeks. Until then, stick with us!
