How did we get here? I had a brief conversation with Chris about potentially co-hosting a month or two ago and we landed on a single name: Harold McGruther. A true icon behind the scenes. Intelligent, polarizing, hilarious, and after 40 years of growing, building, and marketing brands, he's a true wealth of crazy stories, historical facts, and insight. Truly an honor to have McGoo sit down and run through his timeline and scratch the surface of his long history in the BMX industry....Five hours is a really, really long podcast. Story of failure: Losing my composure during competition (and cursing). My name is Jeni Hopkins and I was a coach for 24 years and have loved every minute of it. Yes, of course, there are a lot of highs and lows in coaching, but the rewards and the privilege of working with such outstanding student-athletes, assistant coaches, managers, athletic directors, athletic trainers, officials, table workers, and many more are what I valued the most. The intangibles and intricacies of sports deserve to be explored and a voice needs to be given to coaches, players, officials, and others that play such vital roles in the arena of sports. This is about giving that voice. I am also currently the Media Coordinator of the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association and have a lot of pride in the promotional mission and advocacy of that organization for coaches. I have been on their executive board for over 20 years. Check out our website at www.mobca.org.I am also a proud member, and president, of the board of directors of the Springfield Area Sports Hall of Fame. This is a non-profit organization that recognizes excellence in sports and in turn raises funds for youth sports. Our website is www.springfieldhof.com.Another adventure is that I am a color analyst for Mediacom and MSHSAA.tv and am thrilled to work with them during basketball season while getting a front row seat to the best basketball! I have also worked games, both play by play and color analyst, for Evangel University, Southwest Baptist University and Drury University. I also broadcast the Norm Stewart Classic on ESPN3 from Mizzou Arena. I love broadcasting basketball and have also enjoyed bringing volleyball and track and field to the air waves, too.I also am the founder and director of a basketball luncheon every two weeks, Court Talk, during basketball season. This luncheon promotes basketball in Springfield and includes all of the city high school and college coaches, plus Southwest Baptist and College of the Ozarks. For more information, click here. 'I am also the founder and director of CHAMPS (Champion Humans and Mentoring Partnerships for Success), a mentoring program for seniors in high school. It's Week 10 of the college football season, and both Carla and Crappy are irrationally happy about one thing. (No, it's not the fact that the Steelers are 7-0. Carla is the only one happy about that.) Ladies and gents, #MACtion is back. Or, uh, #BACKtion. Before we get into a deep-dive on all of the Wednesday night (yes, really) MACtion, we take a brief look back at last weekend. While Crappy was pleased to see his Buckeyes run the football last weekend (much to Carla's dismay), Carla questions whether the Big Ten or the Big 12 has the bigger mess on its hands. (Yep. #WeHaveNoIdea.) AJ, meanwhile, is absolutely giddy about the return of #Pac12AfterDark this weekend and includes some of those games in his regular #GroupOfFiveAfterDark report. Then, we're all in on the MAC. All six games, lightning round style: Eastern Michigan at Kent State (6 ET Wed, ESPN+), Western Michigan at Akron (6 ET Wed, ESPN3), Buffalo at Northern Illinois (7 ET Wed, ESPN2), Ohio at Central Michigan (7 ET Wed, ESPN), Ball State at Miami (7 ET Wed, CBSSN), and Bowling Green at Toledo (8 ET Wed, ESPNU). Oh, and there are some legit other games being played this weekend, too: No. 23 Michigan at No. 13 Indiana (Little Nude Saturday, FS1): Huh. That Michigan offense is doing familiar things, like not scoring points. Indiana has a way of forcing opponents into turnovers. We're on opposite sides in this one. No. 8 Florida vs. No. 5 Georgia (3:30 ET Sat, CBS): The Cocktail Party has lost some luster over the past couple of weeks. The Dawgs have defensive injury concerns; the Gators have discipline issues. While we can agree that we're both getting real tired of Dan Mullen, we're on opposite sides here, too. No. 1 Clemson at No. 4 Notre Dame (7:30 ET Sat, NBC): No Trevor Lawrence for Clemson, so DJ ... you know, that freshman quarterback with the last name that's hard to pronounce? ... will again take the offensive reigns against a pretty solid Irish defense. Lots of variables in this one. Is an upset in the cards? So, enjoy all of the football this week, yinz guys. Because let's be real, we all deserve some frivolous mid-week #MACtion this week. Cheers.

NICK WALKER: Welcome to Manage This, the podcast by project managers for project managers. We take time every couple of weeks to get together and talk about what matters to you as a professional project manager. It's one of the ways we try to keep the fires burning, keep you motivated, and keep you at your best. And one of the ways we do that is by talking with people who are out there doing the stuff of project management, people who don't just watch things happen, but make things happen. I'm your host, Nick Walker, and with me are two guys who are always making something happen, and it's usually good stuff, Andy Crowe and Bill Yates. Andy, our guest in the studio brings a wealth of knowledge in the fields of technology and education today. ANDY CROWE: Nick, one of the best things about this job is we get to interact with some really bright people. And I think we've taken that up a notch today. NICK WALKER: Yeah, no doubt about that. Dr. Elke Leeds is the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs responsible for technology-enhanced learning at Kennesaw State University, north of Atlanta, the third largest university in the state of Georgia. Before taking on that duty, she played a key role in developing the first online degree program at Kennesaw State. She holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems and is actively engaged in research relating to student retention, engagement strategies, and teaching competencies. Dr. Leeds, thanks for joining us here on Manage This. ELKE LEEDS: Oh, Nick, my pleasure. NICK WALKER: Well, first let's talk a little bit about Kennesaw State University because it doesn't have the maybe national reputation on the national stage of the... ANDY CROWE: Easy, Nick, you're talking about my alma mater here. NICK WALKER: Oh, is that right? Oh, okay. ELKE LEEDS: Let's go with “not yet,” or maybe it's got more of a... NICK WALKER: Yet, not yet. BILL YATES: They're not on ESPN as much. NICK WALKER: That's right, exactly. I mean, football fans... ELKE LEEDS: ESPN3. We're on ESPN3. ANDY CROWE: Yeah, and we won our conference in football this year. So, yeah, let's... BILL YATES: Okay, okay. NICK WALKER: All right, okay. Sorry. All right, sorry. Okay. Didn't mean to offend here. But granted, okay, football fans nationwide, they know the University of Georgia, the football powerhouse traditionally at Georgia Tech. But Kennesaw State University in terms of number of students is just right up there. ELKE LEEDS: Nick, we've got over 36,000 students right now. We've grown, in the last 15 years since I've been there, from 15 to 36-plus thousand students, 10 academic degree-granting colleges, national prominence in business and cybersecurity, engineering, nursing. The institution is just amazing. And we've actually just learned we have one of the highest conversion rates from applicants to acceptances. When students apply to Kennesaw State, they are intent on coming here. NICK WALKER: So it's grown, obviously. I mean, people here in the area have seen the growth right before their very eyes. But it's also grown in terms of a merger with another local university, and you were a big part of that. ELKE LEEDS: Yup. Kennesaw State is what we, I guess back in 2013, when – and we call it a “consolidation.” I think the system really didn't want to think of it as a merger. They wanted to think about two institutions coming together to form a new university. And that's Southern Polytechnic State University, which is about 10 miles south of Kennesaw off of I‑75, and Kennesaw State University. So it really took two incredibly fine institutions and made them one much larger, much more prominent, and much more impactful institution. NICK WALKER: And in your position, obviously, you were right in the thick of that from the very beginning. ELKE LEEDS: I was right in the thick of that.

It would have been tempting for Scott Satterfield and the Mountaineers to overlook the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks (ULM) on Saturday. After all, they have a poor record and Georgia Southern will be knocking on our front door a mere 5 days afterwards for a Thursday night showdown on national TV that will help shape the Sun Belt championship race.Luckily for us, the Mountaineer faithful, App State fought off a shaky start and delivered a crushing blow to the Warhawks. And "crushing" is putting it nicely. After a 24-14 halftime score, the Mountaineers went on to completely shut down the ULM attack and rack up 59 points and 650+ yards when it was all said and done. But those numbers don't tell the whole story. To find out why the numbers tell us even more good news than you might think, listen to our postgame breakdown of the ULM game. Also, find out why we think ESPN3 sent in their JV broadcast and production crew.
